• Where can I get resources for developing for Mac OS Classic?

  I recently got bored and fired up my old Mac OS Classic emulator, and then got nostalgic for writing old-school applications for the system. So, my question: Where can I get dev tools that can still target Classic? (Ideally free, since this is just for fun, but if grabbing a used version of CodeWarrior on eBay is the best way to go, so be it.) Where can I get at least reference materials so I don't have to guess-and-check my way around Carbon/the System Toolbox? Are there any forums still running that would be open to answering old-school Mac questions for when I get stuck? This is purely for fun, so don't worry about how impractical this is. I know.

• Take screenshot of DirectX full-screen application

  This boggles me. DirectX bypasses everything and talks directly to the device driver, thus GDI and other usual methods won't work - unless Aero is disabled (or unavailable), all that appears is a black rectangle at the top left of the screen. I have tried what other have suggested on several forums, using DirectX to get the back buffer and save it, but I get the same result: device-GetFrontBufferData(0, surface); D3DXSaveSurfaceToFile("fileName", D3DXIFF_BMP, surface, NULL, NULL); Is there any way to get a screenshot of another full-screen DirectX application when Aero is enabled?

• Frequent Netbeans freezes

  I'm using Netbeans 6.8 for PHP projects located on network drives in a Windows network. Frequently, the IDE gets really slow (like a temporary freeze) to a point where it's totally unusable. At first it seems like a total crash, but after some time (might be sevaral minutes) the IDE works again as before. This happens with Netbeans 6.7 as well as 6.8 on my Windows XP 32-bit installation. I'm using Java 1.6.0_13. This is a fresh Netbeans installation, so it can't have to do with too many temp files. I assume it has to do with the frequent code checks that Netbeans does. It's probably not very fast when doing this over the network connection. But it can't be that this feature renders the IDE useless... • asp.net InsertCommand to return latest insert ID

  Dear all, I'm unable to retrieve the latest inserted id from my SQL Server 2000 db using a typed dataset in asp.NET I have created a tableadapter and I ticked the "Refresh datatable" and "Generate Insert, Update and Delete statements". This auto-generates the Fill and GetData methods, and the Insert, Update, Select and Delete statements. I have tried every possible solution in this thread http://forums.asp.net/t/990365.aspx but I'm still unsuccesfull, it always returns 1(=number of affected rows). I do not want to create a seperate insert method as the auto-generated insertCommand perfectly suits my needs. As suggested in the thread above, I have tried to update the InsertCommand SQL syntax to add SELECT SCOPY_IDENTITY() or something similar, I have tried to add a parameter of type ReturnValue, but all I get is the number of affected rows. Does anyone has a different take on this? Thanks in advance! Stijn

• Spring Weblfow 2 - Double Submit

  Hello All, I am investigating a possible issue with double submits and I am looking at the possibilty of a double submit from a webflow execution. I have read many times that webflow will handle double submits, there are plenty references here. However I then came across I a forum response on the spring source forums contradicting what I read saying, SWF synchronizes on the conversation. Only one request will be processed at a time per conversation. Take note that if you're using snapshots, then it's possible repeatedly clicking on the submit button will generate a second request. I would recommend setting history to invalidate or discard in the transition from your view-state. We do have snapshots enabled but the book notes that using snapshots actually allows to solve the double submits. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.

I am not asking about forums, eCommerce, wiki's, CMS's, etc, where the market leaders are already well known open source applications (phpBB, osCommerce, Mediawiki, Drupal). But what about open source alternatives for: Social networking (Facebook)? Classified advertising (Craigslist)? Jobs (CareerBuilder)? Dating (eHarmony)? Or any other field that is defined by a commercial website, as Twitter does for microblogging.

• Java sound doesn't work under Linux

  Help! I'm getting frustrated by the individual hoops I have to go through to eek sound out of my speakers when running Java apps on Linux platforms! I just installed Fedora 12 and after downloading and running the Java Sound Demo I get exceptions. If I run just a vanilla Java program that plays a wav file it runs silently with no sound and no exceptions. Every other app seems to play sound. I also took some advice from this thread in the Ubuntu forums which almost seemed to work. (Installing aoss got rid of the initial exceptions in the sound demo but I still hear nothing when I play.) can somebody help me figure out what's wrong?

• Help with ActiveX Install? Merge Modules - Windows Vista and Windows 7

  I'm building an ActiveX control installer in VS2008 which uses both the CRT and MFC merge modules to install. When my control tries to register on Windows 7 it fails. Dependency Walker says I'm missing the mfc90u.dll, msvcr90.dll and msvcp90.dll dependencies when trying to register my control and the install fails. Are the merge modules supposed to take care of this? My output OCX is being registered with the vsdrpCOMSelfReg option. From what I am reading on other forums, this might not be the best method, what should I try at this point? Install works fine on Windows XP.

• iPhone: Having trouble figuring out how to scroll a UITableView with custom UITextField cells automa

  Ok, I know this seems like a duplicate question, but don't think it is. I actually have this implemented already (thanks to this SO question), but it seems sluggish. I am willing to tweak it a bit, but I ran across a demo app by AboutObjects that seems to have exactly the right functionality with absolutely no code doing it. I have looked through their demo code dozens of times, and I can't figure out what they are doing that I am not. The code to look at is in their iPhone Development Tutorials section, and is called "Editable TableView" (2nd from the bottom). There are a couple of questions on the forums on that site asking how they got the functionality, but there is no answer (other than "It's a built in function"). Does anyone have any clue as to why their UITableView would implement the input scrolling by default (including being able to scroll the view manually when the keyboard pops up, which I cannot get to work)?

• Delphi TerminateThread equivalent for Android

  I have been discussing a problem on the Indy forums related to a thread that is not terminating correctly under Android. They have suggested that there may be an underlying problem with TThread for ARC. Because this problem is holding up the release of a product a work around would be to simply forcibly terminate the thread. I know this is not nice but in this case I cant think of a side effect from doing so. Its wrong but its better than a deadlocked app. Is there a way to forcibly terminate a thread under Android like TerminateThread does under windows? Martin

  I have a WPF control1 (has a moving control) that is hosted through elementhost on a windows form. My aim is to capture the mouse move events for the elementhost. I found out from the following link that MouseMove fires when Control moves under mouse while mouse stands still. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wpf/thread/56e7b331-ac6f-4d62-a83b-c09009b79fa0 I am getting fake mouse move events for elementhost. In order to fix this issue, I added a button on top of elementhost and set its Visible property to Hidden. Still I get fake mouse move events.. How to fix this issue? Is there any workaround?   I'm using Richfaces jsf and I want to iterate over an Map<Object,Object>. I see many examples on sun forums and other sites but in my case it doesn't work ! here is my xhtml code : <c:forEach items="#{order.customOptions}" var="option"> <h:outputText value="this text does not print"/> <h:outputText value="#{option.value.name}" /> <h:outputText value="#{option.value.key}" /> </c:forEach> and the "order" object is of type "Order". "customOptios" is of type Map<CustomOption,CustomOptionValue> and when I create an javascript alert on to print '#{order.customeOptions}' it's content is true. but it's not even enter in c:forEach loop. please heeeeelp me :(

• Android - Camera functionality howto

  Hi, I'm using the example from the SDK (CameraPreview) and also the example from this site http://marakana.com/forums/android/android_examples/39.html When I run it, both gives this error "The application AppName(appname) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I can't run the debugger either because it's always "Waiting for debugger. Force close". (I have debuggable=true in the manifest file) The phone I have is a Nexus One. Running on the emulator gives me the black and white squares with a moving square. (So I assume it works on the emulator?). Even on the emulator it gives me the "stopped unexpectedly" error 50% of the time. Does anyone know what caused it? Thanks, Tee

While exporting i am exporting all resources (meants this jar files also.) But still i am getting noclassdeffound error when my application tries to load any one of the jar included.   Hi, I've seen this error with different variations on discussion forums but being a non programmer I'm not sure how to progress this. Basically I have code which I found to help me with changing the background colors of cells on a grouped uitableview. The code introduced a line as such: CGContextAddArcToPoint(c, minx, miny, midx, miny, ROUND_SIZE); This gave an error indicated that it wasn't declared, so I added to my .h file the following under import uikit: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #define ROUND_SIZE 10 Now it shows that I have an error: Command/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 iphone Some discussions talk about libraries but because I don't have a programming background I don't understand what to do. I also see that some people show a log output but I'm not sure where that comes from as I don't get any debug windows because I'm guessing it doesn't get that far. I simply click 'Build and Go' and I get this error in the Message window. Any thoughts?

• How do I use SLIDE instead of FADE in a YUI Menu animation?

  I'm using the following configuration for a menu that is attached to a button: var srchTypeMenuConfig = { shadow: false, effect: { effect: YAHOO.widget.ContainerEffect.FADE, duration: .25 } }; I get a nice fade in and out for my menu when I click on the button; I'd rather have it slide in and out though. I replace YAHOO.widget.ContainerEffect.FADE with YAHOO.widget.ContainerEffect.SLIDE and the menu doesn't appear. Is there a way for me to get YUI to give me the slide effect? Here's what I've done so far: 1) Looked at the examples. 2) Looked at some effects examples from DavGlass' blog. 3) Searched the forums for 'ContainerEffect.SLIDE'. 4) Searched SO for 'ContainerEffect.SLIDE [YUI]'. I haven't found any helpful information. I suspect that I need to add something to my configuration, but I don't understand why fade would work but slide doesn't.

  Hello all, I'm struggling with this, maybe some of you can help... I have a home page slideshow with large images at www.theoribeiro.com using jQuery Cycle plugin Images are large and sometimes with slow connections (but even in fast ones) the behavior of the slideshow start is pretty ugly, showing the image all of a sudden or half-loaded. I want to make sure that at least the 2 or 3 first images are loaded before the slideshow starts and meanwhile I want to run a loading animated gif, then I want to fade in the first image. I searched a lot on the internet and on the forums and tried loads of stuff with my limited knowledge of javascript and jQuery but could't come up with a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

  I am developing a web service and depend on 3rd party developers to write client applications for it. I need to set a developer portal, a web site where existing and potential developers would find documentation html pages doc files for download libraries downloads wiki forums support ticketing system. There should be a public part and a part protected by login. I want only logged in users to submit tickets, for example. I don't want to host it. I would prefer a generic design based on a sensible template, where I can add minimal customization, such as logo. I don't want to add code to get any of the above functionality. I will do all that if necessary, but I'd hope there would be an online service to do thing like that. What services would you guys recommend?

  I've created a software that I want to be able to market. I'd like to be able to post it on forums etc and for that I need a home page. Is there any open source C# project home pages that you can use? The functionality I'm looking for is like adding new versions (perhaps a version control from the software), downloading and user guides. So what I want is pretty basic: I want to be able to upload and let the users download. I've written this on my own as well but I guess that if there are open source projects that have done this they're probably better. This can't be such a rare problem so please lead me to some resources so that I can create my page and publish my software! :)

• SharePoint Lookup Field 20 Item JS error

  Hi Everyone, I've got an issue with SharePoint Server 2007 SP1 which seems to be documented in various forms, but I haven't been able to find an answer to my seemingly simpler question. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcustomization/thread/040533d2-c738-4ac2-b2d6-65a1602fa2d1 Essentially, we have a form with a lookup field to another SharePoint list. The lookup field has more than 20 items, and so SharePoint changes the type/behaviour of the field as per the standard behaviour. However, with my custom skin applied, clicking on this drop down causes a JS error from within the Core.js file, as described here: http://splitnut.blogspot.com/2009/06/lookup-fields-in-moss-javascript-error.html What I haven't been able to figure out is why this is only an issue when my custom master page is applied, and not the OOTB master pages. I've been through and tried to see what might cause this, but haven't been able to track down the cause of the behaviour. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

  Hi All, I'm currently working with CKEditor (http://ckeditor.com/). I'm looking for: 1) an exhaustive list of commands available by default via 'execCommand'. 2) a mechanism by which to set styles (as in the same way the FONT and SIZE combo boxes do it). I saw the function called 'setStyle' in the documentation, however it seems to require an exact element. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do so based on the selection -- there is no way to use ID or CLASS, as the selected portions have none. I've posted to the forums but they don't seem to be terribly active as far as replies are concerned. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Best.

  I'm developing a blackberry application that plays video from the server. I've used Player.start() and Player.stop() for playing and pausing a video. But I also need rewind, forward and seek bar controls in my application. I tried using FramePositioningControl for these controls. But the following code is returning null. FramePositioningControl framePositioningControl = (FramePositioningControl) player.getControl("FramePositioningControl"); I searched several forums and they say many players do not support FramePositioningControl. What players support FramePositioningControl? And what else should I do to add these controls in my application?

• Facebook status.get API throws 500 HTTP status code

  I have an APP that calls Facebook status.get method via the REST server - restserver.php using session key method. This app works fine for most of the users, but for one user I consistently receive HTTP 500 status code. Since this doesn't have any specific Facebook error message, it is almost impossible for me to debug this. Anyone faced a similar problem? What could be wrong with this user account? I checked the privacy options that I could think of and they look fine. Also, for the same user, I can use friends.get method without any problem. EDIT: I tried in Facebook forums as well, but it was of no use. Any pointers in the direction towards debugging/troubleshooting this problem are also appreciated.
