  • How to rotate camera centered around the camera's position?

    - by tnutty
    Currently I am using gluLook at like so: gluLookAt(position.x, position.y, position.z, viewPoint.x, viewPoint.y, viewPoint.z, upVector.x, upVector.y, upVector.z); with the above, don't know if you need more information, how could I change it so that the camera acts like its rotating around itself, instead rotating around its viewpoint. You can see the current code at https://github.com/dchhetri/OpenGL-City/blob/master/opengl_camera.cpp, that class was adapted from codecolony.com.

  • Trying to run chrooted suPHP with UserDir, getting 500 server error

    - by Greg Antowski
    I've managed to get suPHP working fine with UserDir (i.e. PHP files run from the /home/$username/public_html) directory, but I can't get it to work when I chroot it to the user's home directory. I've been following this guide: http://compilefailure.blogspot.co.nz/2011/09/suphp-chroot-gotchas.html And adapting it to my needs. I'm not creating vhosts, I just want PHP scripts to be jailed to the user's home directory. I've gotten to the part where you use makejail and set up a symlink. However even with the symlink set up correctly, PHP scripts won't run. This is what's shown in the Apache error log: SoftException in Application.cpp:537: Could not execute script "/home/jimmy/public_html/test.php" [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Caused by SystemException in API_Linux.cpp:444: execve() for program "/usr/bin/php-cgi" failed: No such file or directory The thing is, if I try running either of the following commands in the terminal it works without any issues: /home/jimmy/usr/bin/php-cgi /home/jimmy/public_html/test.php /usr/bin/php-cgi /home/jimmy/public_html/test.php I've been trying for hours to get this going and documentation for this kind of stuff is almost non-existent. If anyone could help me out with this, I'd be extremely grateful.

  • Problems building nodejs on MacOS Snow Leopard

    - by mrwooster
    I am having trouble building nodejs on MacOS Snow Leopard. I think it might have something to do with my PATH variable not being set correctly for the developer tools location. For some reason, the Developer tools (gcc, g++, make etc) are all stored in /Developer/usr/bin I added it to my PATH variable as follows: $ export PATH=$PATH:/Developer/usr/bin $ echo $PATH /opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/git/bin:/usr/X11/bin:/Developer/usr/bin When i try to configure it complains about not finding open-ssl, ok, not a big problem. So I try with --without-ssl : $ ./configure --without-ssl Checking for program g++ or c++ : /Developer/usr/bin/g++ Checking for program cpp : /Developer/usr/bin/cpp Checking for program ar : /usr/bin/ar Checking for program ranlib : /Developer/usr/bin/ranlib Checking for g++ : ok Checking for program gcc or cc : /Developer/usr/bin/gcc Checking for gcc : ok Checking for library dl : yes Checking for library util : yes Checking for library rt : not found --- libeio --- Checking for library pthread : yes Checking for function pthread_create : not found /Users/Guy/git_src/node/node/deps/libeio/wscript:13: error: the configuration failed (see '/Users/Guy/git_src/node/node/build/config.log') Anyone know how I can get round this? I am suspicious that it might be something to do with the PATH or another ENV variable, but not sure. Thanks G

  • Rails 3 passenger nginx application spawner server error on Synology NAS

    - by peresleguine
    Question updated, please read UPD2. I'm trying to deploy app through passenger nginx module on DS710+ (ruby 1.9.2p0 installed). There is syntax error relative to has_and_belongs_to_many_association.rb file. Please look at the screenshot(deleted, question updated). I'm pretty sure the problem isn't in library file. App is running good via webrick. Could you please advise what to look for? • What could cause the file command in Linux to report a text file as data?

    - by Jonah Bishop
    I have a couple of C++ source files (one .cpp and one .h) that are being reported as type data by the file command in Linux. When I run the file -bi command against these files, I'm given this output (same output for each file): application/octet-stream; charset=binary Each file is clearly plain-text (I can view them in vi). What's causing file to misreport the type of these files? Could it be some sort of Unicode thing? Both of these files were created in Windows-land (using Visual Studio 2005), but they're being compiled in Linux (it's a cross-platform application). Any ideas would be appreciated. Update: I don't see any null characters in either file. I found some extended characters in the .cpp file (in a comment block), removed them, but file still reports the same encoding. I've tried forcing the encoding in SlickEdit, but that didn't seem to have an effect. When I open the file in vim, I see a [converted] line as soon as I open the file. Perhaps I can get vim to force the encoding?

  • Installing Ruby 1.9.3 OSX 10.7.4 breaks after altering PATH

    - by R V
    I was having trouble installing ruby 1.9.3-p194 from ruby 1.8.7 on my mac osx 10.7.4. I have was trying to fix my homebrew after running "brew doctor" and got the message of "/usr/bin occurs before /usr/local/bin This means that system-provided programs will be used instead of those provided by Homebrew. The following tools exist at both paths: c++-4.2 cpp-4.2 erb g++-4.2 gcc-4.2 gcov-4.2 gem i686-apple-darwin11-cpp-4.2.1 i686-apple-darwin11-g++-4.2.1 i686-apple-darwin11-gcc-4.2.1 irb rake rdoc ri ruby testrb" I fixed it by entering the following, which I found on another stackoverflow answer: export PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:~/bin$PATH" Lo and behold! when I typed that ruby updates to 1.9.3-p194. Ruby files seem to compile and run just fine. However, afterward, my navigation around terminal is messed up severely. For instance I can't do the command "open example_file.html" and have the file pop up in Chrome, instead I get the error: "-bash: open: command not found" Also, when I change directory, I get an error, inputting "$ cd desktop" yields the output, "-bash: dirname: command not found" but the directory does then changes... strange. When I exit out of a terminal window all this resets. I'm back to Ruby 1.8.7, have to use the PATH command again to update to 1.9.3, command line navigation gets broken again. Any guidance on how to remedy so I can use 1.9.3-p194 and also have normal terminal navigation would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why does operator<< not work with something returned by operator-?

  • How do I get a linq to sql group by query into the asp.net mvc view?

    - by Brad Wetli
    Sorry for the newbie question, but I have the following query that groups parking spaces by their garage, but I can't figure out how to iterate the data in the view. I guess I should strongly type the view but am a newbie and having lots of problems figuring this out. Any help would be appreciated. Public Function FindAllSpaces() Implements ISpaceRepository.FindAllSpaces Dim query = _ From s In db.spaces _ Order By s.name Ascending _ Group By s.garageid Into spaces = Group _ Order By garageid Ascending Return query End Function The controller is taking the query object as is and putting it into the viewdata.model and as stated the view is not currently strongly typed as I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I have run the query successfully in linqpad.

  • Element Positioning affected by Browser Screen Resolution Change

    - by Ed
    Hello, newbie developer here. There's this small problem I always encounter. Every time I try to change browser resolution (or what do you call the event when you scroll the mouse wheel while pressing ctrl), some elements (Mostly form elements) get to be shifted down or somewhere else, which does not conform with the original positioning. Im not sure if the problem is with the CSS or the markup itself and Im not really sure if this is much of a problem. Should I ignore it? (It doesn't feel very comfortable though, thinking that it might become problematic in the near future) Otherwise, any solution on how to avoid this? Simple explanations are very much appreciated, Thanks. (Perhaps the used term newbie should be replaced with noob?. Haha.)

  • Does Google provide any Android tutorials that teach how to implement a Service?

    - by Bub
    I apologize in advance for the "newbie" nature of this question. Here is my predicament: I'm brand new to android and developing in general. I'm using android's SDK with eclipse Galileo. I've followed several tutorials to create different layouts. I've even learned recently how to use radio buttons and verify which ones were selected. Now I need to create a service that downloads and updates an xml file within the application. I've tried to locate a simple tutorial for services on Google's developer site but so far, so bad. If they exist could somebody point me in the right direction? On the other hand, I've been told Google's tutorials are a little out dated. Is that true? If so, are there any other tutorials that would hand-hold (and possibly over-explain) how to use a service to a true newbie for free (like google)? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • assistance with fxcop

    - by amateur
    I am at present developing a mvc4 project that comunicates to a set of wcf services. I am setting such up in tfs build for a team of developers. I am very much a newbie to fxcop and code analysis in general. I am currently researching it and have some questions following this: Is it recommended to use the rules that come with fxcop? Should it be included as a build task during builds? What is the value from it? Are there guidelines to what rules to abide by or is it best to go with the default? Is it correct to run the analysis as a post build event? I am a newbie to fxcop and would like some feedback. I am as it is integrating stylecop in to my build.

  • Erroneous/Incorrect C2248 error using Visual Studio 2010

    - by Dylan Bourque
    I'm seeing what I believe to be an erroneous/incorrect compiler error using the Visual Studio 2010 compiler. I'm in the process of up-porting our codebase from Visual Studio 2005 and I ran across a construct that was building correctly before but now generates a C2248 compiler error. Obviously, the code snippet below has been generic-ized, but it is a compilable example of the scenario. The ObjectPtr<T> C++ template comes from our codebase and is the source of the error in question. What appears to be happening is that the compiler is generating a call to the copy constructor for ObjectPtr<T> when it shouldn't (see my comment block in the SomeContainer::Foo() method below). For this code construct, there is a public cast operator for SomeUsefulData * on ObjectPtr<SomeUsefulData> but it is not being chosen inside the true expression if the ?: operator. Instead, I get the two errors in the block quote below. Based on my knowledge of C++, this code should compile. Has anyone else seen this behavior? If not, can someone point me to a clarification of the compiler resolution rules that would explain why it's attempting to generate a copy of the object in this case?     It errors when I try compile. I cut the code out of the program and the program works and complies correctly. Not sure why it doesn't like this. This part of the code does single digit math with numeric strings that are converted into a char arrays. ** Error 2 error C2238: unexpected token(s) preceding ';' C:\Users\Alpha\documents\visual studio 2010\Projects\Win32 Form c++\Win32 Form c++\Win32 Form c++.cpp 10 1 Win32 Form c++ ** Error 1 error C2059: syntax error : 'namespace' C:\Users\Alpha\documents\visual studio 2010\Projects\Win32 Form c++\Win32 Form c++\Win32 Form c++.cpp 10 1 Win32 Form c++ ** Error 3 error C1075: end of file found before the left brace '{' at 'c:\users\alpha\documents\visual studio 2010\projects\win32 form c++\win32 form c++\Form1.h(40)' was matched C:\Users\Alpha\documents\visual studio 2010\Projects\Win32 Form c++\Win32 Form c++\Win32 Form c++.cpp 23 1 Win32 Form c++ ////// ////// // chX[] and chY[] are char arrays from functional part of program std::reverse( chX, &chX[ strlen( chX ) ] ); std::reverse( chY, &chY[ strlen( chY ) ] ); // makes sure x is larger or equal to y...makes looping logic easier if (strlen(chX) < strlen(chY)) { char *chZ = chX; chX = chY; chY = chZ; } //Variables for this part of the program char chX2; char chY2; std::string strSum; int sum = 0; bool carryth1 = false; int x=0; int y=0; for (int i = 0; i <= (strlen(chX)-1); i++) { if (i <= strlen(chY)-1) { chX2= chX[i]; chY2= chY[i]; x = atoi(chX2); y = atoi(chY2); //x = atoi(chX[i]); sum = x+y+(int)carryth1; carryth1 = false; if (sum > 9) { if(i == 0) { sum -=10; strSum = itoa(sum); carryth1 = true; } else { sum -=10; strSum += itoa(sum); carryth1 = true; } } else { if(i == 0) { strSum = itoa(sum); } else { strSum += itoa(sum); } } else { y = 0; chX2= chX[i]; x = atoi(chX2); sum = x+y+(int)carryth1; if((i == strlen(chX)-1)&& (carryth1 == true) && (x == 9)) { strSum += "10"; } else { strSum = itoa(sum); } } std::reverse( strSum, &strSum[ strlen( strSum ) ] ); //Creates new string for txtDisplay this simplifies conversions String^ strDisplay = "X is " + gcnew String((strX1.c_str())) + " Y is " +gcnew String((strY1.c_str())) + " \r\n " ; strDisplay += "The sum of the X + Y = "; txtDisplay->Text = gcnew String((strSum.c_str())) ;

  • linker error when using tr1::regex

    - by Max
    Hello. I've got a program that uses tr1::regex, and while it compiles, it gives me very verbose linker errors. Here's my header file MapObject.hpp: #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <tr1/regex> #include "phBaseObject.hpp" using std::string; namespace phObject { class MapObject: public phBaseObject { private: string color; // must be a hex string represented as "#XXXXXX" static const std::tr1::regex colorRX; // enforces the rule above public: void setColor(const string&); (...) }; } Here's my implementation: #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <tr1/regex> #include "MapObject.hpp" using namespace std; namespace phObject { const tr1::regex MapObject::colorRX("#[a-fA-F0-9]{6}"); void MapObject::setColor(const string& c) { if(tr1::regex_match(c.begin(), c.end(), colorRX)) { color = c; } else cerr << "Invalid color assignment (" << c << ")" << endl; } (...) } and now for the errors: max@max-desktop:~/Desktop/Development/CppPartyHack/PartyHack/lib$ g++ -Wall -std=c++0x MapObject.cpp /tmp/cce5gojG.o: In function std::tr1::basic_regex<char, std::tr1::regex_traits<char> >::basic_regex(char const*, unsigned int)': MapObject.cpp:(.text._ZNSt3tr111basic_regexIcNS_12regex_traitsIcEEEC1EPKcj[std::tr1::basic_regex<char, std::tr1::regex_traits<char> >::basic_regex(char const*, unsigned int)]+0x61): undefined reference tostd::tr1::basic_regex ::_M_compile()' /tmp/cce5gojG.o: In function bool std::tr1::regex_match<__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<char const*, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >, char, std::tr1::regex_traits<char> >(__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<char const*, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >, __gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<char const*, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >, std::tr1::basic_regex<char, std::tr1::regex_traits<char> > const&, std::bitset<11u>)': MapObject.cpp:(.text._ZNSt3tr111regex_matchIN9__gnu_cxx17__normal_iteratorIPKcSsEEcNS_12regex_traitsIcEEEEbT_S8_RKNS_11basic_regexIT0_T1_EESt6bitsetILj11EE[bool std::tr1::regex_match<__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<char const*, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >, char, std::tr1::regex_traits<char> >(__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<char const*, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >, __gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<char const*, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >, std::tr1::basic_regex<char, std::tr1::regex_traits<char> > const&, std::bitset<11u>)]+0x53): undefined reference tobool std::tr1::regex_match<__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator , std::allocator, std::allocator , char, std::tr1::regex_traits (__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator , __gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator , std::tr1::match_results<__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator , std::allocator, std::allocator &, std::tr1::basic_regex const&, std::bitset<11u)' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I can't really make heads or tails of this, except for the undefined reference to std::tr1::basic_regex near the beginning. Anyone know what's going on?

  • Explicitly instantiating a generic member function of a generic structure

    - by Dennis Zickefoose
    I have a structure with a template parameter, Stream. Within that structure, there is a function with its own template parameter, Type. If I try to force a specific instance of the function to be generated and called, it works fine, if I am in a context where the exact type of the structure is known. If not, I get a compile error. This feels like a situation where I'm missing a typename, but there are no nested types. I suspect I'm missing something fundamental, but I've been staring at this code for so long all I see are redheads, and frankly writing code that uses templates has never been my forte. The following is the simplest example I could come up with that illustrates the issue. #include <iostream> template<typename Stream> struct Printer { Stream& str; Printer(Stream& str_) : str(str_) { } template<typename Type> Stream& Exec(const Type& t) { return str << t << std::endl; } }; template<typename Stream, typename Type> void Test1(Stream& str, const Type& t) { Printer<Stream> out = Printer<Stream>(str); /****** vvv This is the line the compiler doesn't like vvv ******/ out.Exec<bool>(t); /****** ^^^ That is the line the compiler doesn't like ^^^ ******/ } template<typename Type> void Test2(const Type& t) { Printer<std::ostream> out = Printer<std::ostream>(std::cout); out.Exec<bool>(t); } template<typename Stream, typename Type> void Test3(Stream& str, const Type& t) { Printer<Stream> out = Printer<Stream>(str); out.Exec(t); } int main() { Test2(5); Test3(std::cout, 5); return 0; } As it is written, gcc-4.4 gives the following: test.cpp: In function 'void Test1(Stream&, const Type&)': test.cpp:22: error: expected primary-expression before 'bool' test.cpp:22: error: expected ';' before 'bool' Test2 and Test3 both compile cleanly, and if I comment out Test1 the program executes, and I get "1 5" as I expect. So it looks like there's nothing wrong with the idea of what I want to do, but I've botched something in the implementation. If anybody could shed some light on what I'm overlooking, it would be greatly appreciated.
