  • How to use ContentPresenter on Window?

    - by mybrokengnome
    I've got a ResourceDictionary file that contains a bunch of resources to define elements of my UI. Including one for my DialogWindows, which will just be Windows. <Style x:Key="DialogWindow" TargetType="{x:Type Window}" > <Setter Property="OverridesDefaultStyle" Value="True"/> <Setter Property="WindowStyle" Value="None" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Window}"> <Grid Background="{StaticResource SunkenBackground}"> <StackPanel Margin="20,20,20,20" Background="{StaticResource SunkenBackground}"> <AdornerDecorator> <ContentPresenter/> </AdornerDecorator> </StackPanel> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> As you can see every DialogWindow should have a grid and a stackpanel, and then the content goes inside there. I've added the file to my App.xaml, and on one of my dialog windows I added Style="{StaticResource DialogWindow}". So the question is: Now that I have my Template set up for a window, and things are actually styled properly once I've added the StaticResource, what tags do I use to wrap my content in inside of my DialogWindow? I tried wrapping them inside Grid, but that just breaks the layout. If I wrap them inside a StackPanel, they look correct, but then I've got 2 StackPanels and a Grid, when if I didn't include the template I could just have 1 StackPanel and a Grid (I realize I could just take the stackpanel out of the template and do it for every DialogWindow, but that doesn't seem like a good solution). Thanks!

  • java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: View not attached to window manager

    - by alex2k8
    I have an activity that starts AsyncTask and shows progress dialog for the duration of operation. The activity is declared NOT be recreated by rotation or keyboard slide. <activity android:name=".MyActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation" > <intent-filter> </intent-filter> </activity> Once task completed, I dissmiss dialog, but on some phones (framework: 1.5, 1.6) such error is thrown: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: View not attached to window manager at android.view.WindowManagerImpl.findViewLocked(WindowManagerImpl.java:356) at android.view.WindowManagerImpl.removeView(WindowManagerImpl.java:201) at android.view.Window$LocalWindowManager.removeView(Window.java:400) at android.app.Dialog.dismissDialog(Dialog.java:268) at android.app.Dialog.access$000(Dialog.java:69) at android.app.Dialog$1.run(Dialog.java:103) at android.app.Dialog.dismiss(Dialog.java:252) at xxx.onPostExecute(xxx$1.java:xxx) My code is: final Dialog dialog = new AlertDialog.Builder(context) .setTitle("Processing...") .setCancelable(true) .create(); final AsyncTask<MyParams, Object, MyResult> task = new AsyncTask<MyParams, Object, MyResult>() { @Override protected MyResult doInBackground(MyParams... params) { // Long operation goes here } @Override protected void onPostExecute(MyResult result) { dialog.dismiss(); onCompletion(result); } }; task.execute(...); dialog.setOnCancelListener(new OnCancelListener() { @Override public void onCancel(DialogInterface arg0) { task.cancel(false); } }); dialog.show(); From what I have read (http://bend-ing.blogspot.com/2008/11/properly-handle-progress-dialog-in.html) and seen in Android sources, it looks like the only possible situation to get that exception is when activity was destroyed. But as I have mentioned, I forbid activity recreation for basic events. So any suggestions are very appreciated.

  • Using an ActiveX control without a form/dialog/window in C++, VS 2008

    - by younevertell
    an ActiveX control generated by Visual Basic 6, very old stuff, it has a couple of methods and one event. now I have to use the control in C++, visual studio 2008, but I don't like to generate a form/dialog/window as constainer. I add some MFC class From ActiveX Control. Now the wrap class has all the methods defined in the ActiveX control. I definitely need add event handler to take care of the event fired by ActiveX control. With a form/dialgue/window, it could be done by below BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP ON_EVENT. My questions are 1. how to add the event handler without a form/dialgue/window. Is this impossible? 2. Could I manually add constructor in the ActiveX control wrap class, so I could use new operator to get an instance on the heap? Thanks Add the Event Sinks Map near the start of the definition (.cpp) file. The BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP macro takes the container's Class name, then the base class name as parameters. The container's class name is used again in the AFX_EVENTSINK_MAP macro and the ON_EVENT macro.

  • How to open links in new window ONLY IF the check box is checked

    - by Travis
    Here is what i have so far. I have it so they open in new windows, but i want it only if the check box is checked... <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> function new() { if ( document.getElementById('checkbox').checked ) window.open( 'y', 'n', 't', 'New Window' ); } else { break; } var OpenNew = document.getElementById('opennew'); OpenNew.addEventListener('click', OpenWin, false ); </script> </head> <body> <p> <form name="test"> <p>Open link in a new window &nbsp; <input type="checkbox" id="checkbox" name="check" /></p> </form> </p> <p> <h2>My favorite Websites to visit</h2> <a href="http://www.youtube.com" target="new" id="y">Youtube</a><br /> <a href="http://www.newegg.com" target="new" id="n">Newegg</a><br /> <a href="http://www.twitch.tv" target="new" id="t">Twitch.tv</a><br /> </p> </body> </html> I am unsure how to actually do the if statement if it is checked then open. It does currently open in a new tab.. i just need it to be only when its checked. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • unclear use of @property in window app using core data

    - by Matt
    Looking through a Window based application ive used to experiment with as a way of getting my head around core data, ive noticed that the appdelegate has the following code myAppDelegate.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import <CoreData/CoreData.h> @interface iCaptureFreeAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { NSManagedObjectModel *managedObjectModel; NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *persistentStoreCoordinator; UIWindow *window; UITabBarController *tabBarController; } myAppDelegate.m #import "myAppDelegate.h" @interface iCaptureFreeAppDelegate (PrivateCoreDataStack) @property (nonatomic, retain, readonly) NSManagedObjectModel *managedObjectModel; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; @property (nonatomic, retain, readonly) NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *persistentStoreCoordinator; @end @implementation iCaptureFreeAppDelegate @synthesize window, tabBarController; // code .... // - (NSManagedObjectContext *) managedObjectContext { } - (NSManagedObjectModel *)managedObjectModel { } - (NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *)persistentStoreCoordinator { } // etc..... i want to understand a few things about what this project is doing why the properties in the category declaration? (if i delete the privateCoreDataStack category everything still works...) why the properties appear to be linked with the methods in the implementation ... managedObjectContext {} etc why the members in the .h file have the same name as the properties and the methods why code completion lets me use dot '.' to access the members but then fails on compilation say it cant find a getter thanks !

  • OpenGl: Stencil buffer problem (Wall + Window)?!

    - by Shaza
    Hwy all, I want to create a wall with a window inside, using stencil buffer. My code looks like this: glEnable(GL_STENCIL_TEST); glClearStencil(0); glClear(GL_STENCIL_BUFFER_BIT); glStencilMask(1); glStencilFunc(GL_ALWAYS, 1, 1); glStencilOp(GL_REPLACE, GL_REPLACE, GL_REPLACE); glDisable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); glColor3f(1,1,1); //Window glBegin(GL_POLYGON); glVertex3d(-5,0,-20); glVertex3d(-5,0,40); glVertex3d(-20,0,40); glVertex3d(-20,0,-20); glEnd(); glEnable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); glStencilFunc(GL_NOTEQUAL, 1, 1); glStencilOp(GL_KEEP, GL_KEEP, GL_KEEP); glEnable(GL_CLIP_PLANE0); glClipPlane(GL_CLIP_PLANE0, eqr); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D,texture[1]); glBegin(GL_POLYGON); glNormal3f(0.0f,-1.0,0.0f); //Wall glTexCoord2f(0.0f, 0.0f);glVertex3d(20,0,-20); glTexCoord2f(1.0f, 0.0f);glVertex3d(20,0,40); glTexCoord2f(1.0f, 0.0f);glVertex3d(-20,0,40); glTexCoord2f(1.0f, 0.0f);glVertex3d(-20,0,-20); glEnd(); glDisable(GL_STENCIL_TEST); But that doesn't work out, I got the whole fill wall without the window in it, any suggestions??

  • Testing Web Application: "Mirror" ad-hoc testing in another window

    - by Narcissus
    I don't even really know if the title is the best way to explain what I'm trying to do, but anyway... We have a web app that is being ported to a number of DB backends via MDB2. Our unit tests are pretty lacking at the moment, but our internal users are pretty good at knowing what to test to see if things are broken. What I'm 'imagining' is a browser plug in (don't really care which browser it is for) or a similar system that essentially takes every event from one window and 'mirrors' it in the other browser/s. The reason I'd like this is so that I can have various installations that use different DB backends, and have the user open a window/tab to each installation. From there, however, I'd like them to be able to 'work' in one window and have that 'work' I occur at the same time in each of the 'cloned' windows. From there, they should be able to do some quick eyeballing of the information that comes back, without having to worry about timing differences and so (very much). I know it's a big ask, but I figure if anyone knows of a solution, I'd find it here... Any thoughts?

  • How come JFrame window size in Java does not produce the size of window specified?

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I am just messing around trying to make a game right now, but I have had this problem before too. When I specify a specific window size (1024 x 768 for instance) the window produced is just a little larger than what I specified. Very annoying. Is there a reason for this? How do I correct it so the window created is actually the size I want instead of being just a little bit bigger? Up till now I have always just gone back and manually adjusted the size a few pixels at a time until I got the result I wanted, but that is getting old. If there was even a formula I could use that would tell me how many pixels I needed to add/subtract from my my variable that would be excellent! P.S. I don't know if my OS could be a factor in this, but I am using W7X64. private int windowWidth = 1024; private int windowHeight = 768; public SomeWindow() { this.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); this.setSize(windowWidth, windowHeight); this.setResizable(false); this.setLocation(0,0); this.setVisible(true); }

  • Response Redirect - Open Link in New Window

    - by bacis09
    First, I've taken the time to review this question which seems to be the most similar, however, the solution that seems to have been selected will not work in my scenario.Not to mention I worry about some of the comments claiming it to be brittle or an inadequate solution. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/104601/asp-net-response-redirect-to-new-window -We have an XML document which basically contains all of the information for a Side menu. -We have numerous URLS which are stored in a constants class. -One of the elements in a string of XML (well call it label) is used to determine if the menu item is created as a LinkButton or a Label. -Links use a custom user control that is used standard for all links across the application (why suggestion on similar thread doesn't work - I don't want all links to open in a new window - just one) -One of the elements in a string of XML (well call it function) is used in a Switch statement to generate our links using Response Redirect. It may look something like this. switch (function) { case goto 1: string url; if (user_group == 1) { url = Constants.CONSTANT1 } else { url = Constants.CONSTANT2 } Response.Redirect(url) case goto 2: ...... default: ...... break; } Given this scenario, I'm trying to find the best way to quickly open a New Window, when a specific case in this switch statement is met. Can it be done with Response Redirect (this seems to be arguable - people say no it can't, yet other people say they have made it work)? If not, what alternative can work here?

  • How do i set this window to topmost?

    - by acidzombie24
    How do i set my window above all other? I need a bad but noticeable msg box that closes on its own. Msg is a dummy form which is empty. All i want is its title. The problems with the code is the window isnt created 0,0 (its just whereever windows feels like putting it). The width is correct but i notice if i click firefox or another app window my app doesnt pop up. I know it is being shown bc i can see it in the taskbar at the bottom for a brief second. So the bugs so far Doesnt go topmost if i click another app Isnt 0,0 How do i fix this? { var msg = new Msg(); msg.Text = (has ? • Change Active Taskbar Application

    - by MosheK
    I currently have the Buttons on other taskbars set so Never combine So I can have multiple Chrome windows open and will see multiple Chromes on the taskbar. Now the problem is that sometimes I don't really know which one I'm currently looking at. Is there a way to have the active application take on a different color or some other indication that it's the active window. To clarify I don't need the title bar of the application to be a different color, just the "button" that shows up on the taskbar This is for windows 8

  • WebBrowser Control in ATL window. How to free up memory on window unload? I'm stuck.

    - by Martin
    Hello there. I have a Win32 C++ Application. There is the _tWinMain(...) Method with GetMessage(...) in a while loop at the end. Before GetMessage(...) I create the main window with HWND m_MainHwnd = CreateWindowExW(WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW | WS_EX_LAYERED, CAxWindow::GetWndClassName(), _TEXT("http://www.-website-.com"), WS_POPUP, 0, 0, 1024, 768, NULL, NULL, m_Instance, NULL); ShowWindow(m_MainHwnd) If I do not create the main window, my application needs about 150K in memory. But with creating the main window with the WebBrowser Control inside, the memory usage increases to 8500K. But, I want to dynamically unload the main window. My _tWinMain(...) keeps running! Im unloading with DestroyWindow(m_MainHwnd) But the WebBrowser control won't unload and free up it's memory used! Application memory used is still 8500K! I can also get the WebBrowser Instance or with some additional code the WebBrowser HWND IWebBrowser2* m_pWebBrowser2; CAxWindow wnd = (CAxWindow)m_MainHwnd; HRESULT hRet = wnd.QueryControl(IID_IWebBrowser2, (void**)&m_pWebBrowser2); So I tried to free up the memory used by main window and WebBrowser control with (let's say it's experimental): if(m_pWebBrowser2) m_pWebBrowser2->Release(); DestroyWindow(m_hwndWebBrowser); //<-- just analogous OleUninitialize(); No success at all. I also created a wrapper class which creates the main window. I created a pointer and freed it up with delete: Wrapper* wrapper = new Wrapper(); //wrapper creates main window inside and shows it //...do some stuff delete(wrapper); No success. Still 8500K. So please, how can I get rid of the main window and it's WebBrowser control and free up the memory, returning to about 150K. Later I will recreate the window. It's a dynamically load and unload of the main window, depending on other commands. Thanks! Regards Martin

  • "Host usb device connections disabled" in VMware???

    - by ZlateWay
    I installed Linux, Windows XP and Chrome OS in VMware Workstation 7 and in every OS the USB host doesn't work. When I start some of the Operative Systems this message shows up: "host usb device connections disabled" and under that : "The connection to the VMware USB Arbitration Service was unsuccessful. Please check the status of this service in the Microsoft Management Console." So what to do? What do I need to install to make the usb host work? BTW I use Windows 7 as a host OS. Thanks

  • Free alternatives to vSphere for ESXi (if one exists)

    - by Tim
    Dear All, Am feeling a touch confused and overwhemled. From what I gather even though ESXi is free I will only be able to manage my VMs (create or power on etc) for 60 days unless I buy a licence for vSphere. This is somewhat frustrating. As I am looking for a home lab to practice for various certs I was hoping to also practice using vmware stuff to do so. Have I got the wrong end of the stick? Is there a free built in web interface like there was with VMServer or is the only option vSphere (which is massively out of my price range)? Looking forward to your responses and hoping that I have just missed something obvious! Regards Tim

  • System File Checker vs Service Pack Reinstall

    - by Nixphoe
    When trying to repair slow workstations, I've found that running sfc /scannow helps quite a lot in a few of my environments running really old computers. I've also seen recommendations of reinstalling the last service pack after software installation to help keep the system stable. That makes sense as it would replace a lot of the dll files with the ones that would come with the service pack. They both seem to do the same thing, but SFC some times will ask for a disk, where the Service Pack will not. What is the main difference between the two?

    - by Rakward
    I'm currently trying to do the following: Trigger: click on a name in a select list. Action : open mailto-link in current window, thus opening an email client. $(document).ready(function(){ // Define click-event $('option').click(function(){ var mail = $(this).attr('value'); window.open('mailto:'+mail, '_self'); }); }); I've also tried using this instead of window.open: parent.location.href= 'mailto:'+mail; However, both work only in firefox, get no errors/results in IE8 or Chrome. Anybody know what the problem could be?

  • Java Animation Memory Overload [on hold]

    - by user2425429
    I need a way to reduce the memory usage of these programs while keeping the functionality. Every time I add 50 milliseconds or so to the set&display loop in AnimationTest1, it throws an out of memory error. Here is the code I have now: import java.awt.DisplayMode; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Graphics2D; import java.awt.Image; import java.awt.Polygon; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; import java.util.concurrent.Executor; import java.util.concurrent.Executors; import javax.swing.ImageIcon; public class AnimationTest1 { public static void main(String args[]) { AnimationTest1 test = new AnimationTest1(); test.run(); } private static final DisplayMode POSSIBLE_MODES[] = { new DisplayMode(800, 600, 32, 0), new DisplayMode(800, 600, 24, 0), new DisplayMode(800, 600, 16, 0), new DisplayMode(640, 480, 32, 0), new DisplayMode(640, 480, 24, 0), new DisplayMode(640, 480, 16, 0) }; private static final long DEMO_TIME = 4000; private ScreenManager screen; private Image bgImage; private Animation anim; public void loadImages() { // create animation List<Polygon> polygons=new ArrayList(); int[] x=new int[]{20,4,4,20,40,56,56,40}; int[] y=new int[]{20,32,40,44,44,40,32,20}; polygons.add(new Polygon(x,y,8)); anim = new Animation(); //# of frames long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long currTimer = startTime; long elapsedTime = 0; boolean animated = false; Graphics2D g = screen.getGraphics(); int width=200; int height=200; //set&display loop while (currTimer - startTime < DEMO_TIME*2) { //draw the polygons if(!animated){ for(int j=0; j<polygons.size();j++){ for(int pos=0; pos<polygons.get(j).npoints; pos++){ polygons.get(j).xpoints[pos]+=1; } } anim.setNewPolyFrame(polygons , width , height , 64); } else{ // update animation anim.update(elapsedTime); draw(g); g.dispose(); screen.update(); try{ Thread.sleep(20); } catch(InterruptedException ie){} } if(currTimer - startTime == DEMO_TIME) animated=true; elapsedTime = System.currentTimeMillis() - currTimer; currTimer += elapsedTime; } } public void run() { screen = new ScreenManager(); try { DisplayMode displayMode = screen.findFirstCompatibleMode(POSSIBLE_MODES); screen.setFullScreen(displayMode); loadImages(); } finally { screen.restoreScreen(); } } public void draw(Graphics g) { // draw background g.drawImage(bgImage, 0, 0, null); // draw image g.drawImage(anim.getImage(), 0, 0, null); } } ScreenManager: import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.DisplayMode; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Graphics2D; import java.awt.GraphicsConfiguration; import java.awt.GraphicsDevice; import java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment; import java.awt.Toolkit; import java.awt.Window; import java.awt.event.KeyListener; import java.awt.event.MouseListener; import java.awt.image.BufferStrategy; import java.awt.image.BufferedImage; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; public class ScreenManager extends JPanel { private GraphicsDevice device; /** Creates a new ScreenManager object. */ public ScreenManager() { GraphicsEnvironment environment=GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment(); device = environment.getDefaultScreenDevice(); setBackground(Color.white); } /** Returns a list of compatible display modes for the default device on the system. */ public DisplayMode[] getCompatibleDisplayModes() { return device.getDisplayModes(); } /** Returns the first compatible mode in a list of modes.   • Animation Color [on hold]

    - by user2425429
    I'm having problems in my java program for animation. I'm trying to draw a hexagon with a shape similar to that of a trapezoid. Then, I'm making it move to the right for a certain amount of time (DEMO_TIME). Animation and ScreenManager are "API" classes, and AnimationTest1 is a demo. • Fresh Install of SQL Server 2008 doesn't install managment studio. Help!

    - by Jordan S
    Ok I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. I cleaned of SQL server 2005 completely off my system leaving only SQL Compact Edition. I went here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=01af61e6-2f63-4291-bcad-fd500f6027ff&displaylang=en and installed SQL Server 2008 Express Edition Service Pack 1. After the install, under my start bar menu all i have for SQL configuration tools are the Configuration Manager, Error and Usage Reporting and the Install Center. I don't have the SQL Managment Studio. So I went here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=08e52ac2-1d62-45f6-9a4a-4b76a8564a2b&displaylang=en and downloaded the SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express but when I try to install it I get a warning says This program has known compatibility issues and that I need to Install SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1. I thought that is what I installed. So, I tried to continue running the install but I then get an error message that says Invoke or BeginInvoke can not be called on a Form before it is opened... How can I check if Service pack 1 is installed or not? What should I do?

  • Why does windows XP minimize my swing full screen window on my second screen ?

    - by Laurent K
    Hello dear fellows, In the application I'm developping (in Java/swing), I have to show a full screen window on the second screen of the user. I did this using a code similar to the one you'll find below... Be, as soon as I click in a window opened by windows explorer, or as soon as I open windows explorer (i'm using windows XP), the full screen window is minimized... Do you know any way or workaround to fix this problem, or is there something important I did not understand with full screen windows? Thanks for the help, import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JWindow; import java.awt.BorderLayout; import java.awt.Dimension; import java.awt.GraphicsDevice; import java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment; import java.awt.Window; import javax.swing.JButton; import javax.swing.JToggleButton; import java.awt.Rectangle; import java.awt.GridBagLayout; import javax.swing.JLabel; public class FullScreenTest { private JFrame jFrame = null; // @jve:decl-index=0:visual-constraint="94,35" private JPanel jContentPane = null; private JToggleButton jToggleButton = null; private JPanel jFSPanel = null; // @jve:decl-index=0:visual-constraint="392,37" private JLabel jLabel = null; private Window window; /** * This method initializes jFrame * * @return javax.swing.JFrame */ private JFrame getJFrame() { if (jFrame == null) { jFrame = new JFrame(); jFrame.setSize(new Dimension(474, 105)); jFrame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); jFrame.setContentPane(getJContentPane()); } return jFrame; } /** * This method initializes jContentPane * * @return javax.swing.JPanel */ private JPanel getJContentPane() { if (jContentPane == null) { jContentPane = new JPanel(); jContentPane.setLayout(null); jContentPane.add(getJToggleButton(), null); } return jContentPane; } /** * This method initializes jToggleButton * * @return javax.swing.JToggleButton */ private JToggleButton getJToggleButton() { if (jToggleButton == null) { jToggleButton = new JToggleButton(); jToggleButton.setBounds(new Rectangle(50, 23, 360, 28)); jToggleButton.setText("Show Full Screen Window on 2nd screen"); jToggleButton.addActionListener(new java.awt.event.ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent e) { showFullScreenWindow(jToggleButton.isSelected()); } }); } return jToggleButton; } protected void showFullScreenWindow(boolean b) { if(window==null){ window = initFullScreenWindow(); } window.setVisible(b); } private Window initFullScreenWindow() { GraphicsEnvironment ge = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment(); GraphicsDevice[] gds = ge.getScreenDevices(); GraphicsDevice gd = gds[1]; JWindow window = new JWindow(gd.getDefaultConfiguration()); window.setContentPane(getJFSPanel()); gd.setFullScreenWindow(window); return window; } /** * This method initializes jFSPanel * * @return javax.swing.JPanel */ private JPanel getJFSPanel() { if (jFSPanel == null) { jLabel = new JLabel(); jLabel.setBounds(new Rectangle(18, 19, 500, 66)); jLabel.setText("Hello ! • Windows - Use Local Service and/or Network Service account for a windows service

    - by user19185
    I've created a window's service that monitors files on a specific directory on our Windows OS. When a file is detected, the service does some file I/O, reads the files, creates sub-directories, etc. This service also uses database connectivity to connect to another server. My plan is to have the service run as the default "Local Service" account. Since I need to allow write/read privileges, which apparently the "Local Service" account does not do by default, I'm going to explicitly set "Full Control" privileges for the "Local Service" account on the folder that I'm reading/writing to and from. I believe the above is a good . My question is, for the folder that I'm reading and writing to, do I need to setup a "Network Service" role with full control access? I'm wondering since my service uses database connectivity to another server, if I'll need the "Network Service" account setup. I may be misunderstanding what the "Network Service" account does.

  • How can I re-open the TrueCrypt window after it's been closed?

    - by user27451
    I installed TrueCrypt 7.1 Standard 64-bit on a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. After finding the application in the dash I dragged it's icon onto the Unity launcher. I then clicked that icon and TrueCrypt's main window opened. I mounted my encrypted file/volume and then closed the window to do some work. To re-open the TrueCrypt window I would normally click the small blue TrueCrypt icon that appears on the top panel. In Ubuntu 11.10 that icon is no longer there. I receive a message ("TrueCrypt is already running.") if I click on the TrueCrypt icon in the launcher. How can I re-open the TrueCrypt window after it's been closed in Ubuntu 11.10?

  • How do I detect if I'm in a 'full screen' bash shell or GUI terminal window?

    - by Nick T
    I have some code in my .bashrc that sets the terminal window title using the currently running command and it works great in Unity, where the terminal is in a window. However, when I'm logging in with the Ctrl + Alt + F1 terminal (whatever it's called), my prompt gets filled with garbage that is various escape sequences that set the (nonexistent) window title. How can I detect from within a bash script if I'm in one or the other?
