    I have ASP.NET web application using MSSQL express at the moment. But I want to use MSSQL 2008. But I'm NOT sure about what kind of license I should buy. I'm considering the Processor License according to this document. I'm not sure if it's the right choice. If I buy User CAL. should I buy only 1 CAL for my web application? or for all visitors who visit my web site? I also have a Windows desktop application that write/read data from the server. Do I need a seperate license with for this Windows application if I buy Processor License. Thank you for suggestion.

    For some reason, my mysql cant connect any more. Im running 3 wordpress websites and I need to save the tables.     I have a 2008 reporting services server installed on windows 2003 server. I am trying to allow anonymous access to the report builder folder so that my users do not have to select the remember password option when they login, if they are wanting to use the report builder. All I have found so far is that I should be able to do this with the IIS manager, but that only seems to work for reporting services 2005. Reporting services 2008 does not show up in the IIS manager, enabling anonymous access seems to be hidden somewhere else. How do I enable anonymous access to report builder in reporting services 2008?

  • How can I connect to my ACT database to export data?

    I am trying to export data from an MSSQL server that ACT uses. It is ACT 2005. I have tried tons of different things, from trying to starting the MSSQL server in single user mode (still can't login), I have tried copying the mdf files from it and putting it on another server (it complains about having the same name as another database for master.mdf and almost every other file), I have tried putting Administrator in the group that the MSSQL instance runs under, and nothing seems to work! Can anybody with experience with this help me out? Thanks!

    Hi guys, I am an ASP.NET developer, who has minimal knowledge in Server administration. I have a database hosted at Windows Server 2008. Today morning onwards it periodically stops working. The message given is something to the effect "The program is being shut down to prevent Data Execution Prevention error" Some other programs are also showing the behavior. I would like to know, what causes this all of a sudden? The server is UN-protected(IE: no anti-virus installed at all), could this be a possible anti-virus/ malware attack?   • sqlldr job not running through Autosys

    I have a shell script that if run manually or via Cron executes fine and loads a delimited file using sqlldr to the database successfully. However via Autosys the script executes, sqlldr says it was successful, however the data is never actually loaded into the database. Has anyone ever experienced this before with the sqlldr/Autosys combination, and if so, knows of a workaround/fix?

  • SSIS DSN Not Showing as ODBC Data Source

    I have been following the directions here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/05ccd778-b78c-4a83-a10a-c4ae412cc6e4 And ran into a problem where my System DSN is not showing up as a ODBC provider. I found this which seemed promising: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000277 I was not able to delete the key but followed but I did what was suggested: "If unable to delete the key, double-click the key and erase the Data value entered. Once done, the value should read ' (value not set) '" However, after following the instructions my System DSN still does not appear as an option. The USER DSN however does show...has shown but does not work as I get a permissions error. Any ideas?

But i dont know why it is failing.. I dont know how to post the screen shot here.....

    Not sure what changed but looks like my security credentials have been monkeyed with. Since yesterday evening after I disconnected from our corporate network and rebooted my laptop at home, I am unable to start the instance of SQL2K8. The service is set to run under NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. The event log records an Access Denied error on the Master.mdf. Switching the account to Local System starts the service but our application runs into security errors. Any clues? TIA

  • Connect to MS Sql 2008 on local VM

    I have a test machine. Server 2008 with Hyper V MSSQL 2008 Enterprise Lets call it MACHINE A on the VM it is as well Server 2008 with another MSSQL 2008 Ent Call it VM B I setup a DB on MACHINE A then backed it up and restored following the prepare database for mirroring instructions on MSDN onto VM B. I used to be able to connect to the VM B Instance from the main test server (MACHINE A) but now I cannot for some reason. It cannot seem to find the instance at all even when I browse network databases. I can ping the VM from any computer on the network and access its shares so I know it is discoverable. Just the end of a long day maybe I am missing something here.

  • sql and web encoding problem

    Guys, I've got an encoding problem I believe. I have upgraded from phpBB2 to phpBB3. The old databases were in latin1, the new ones have utf8 encoding. Already during the upgrade process some rows of the DB were only read partly into the new version, because of strange characters as it turned out. When I use PHP's mb_convert_encoding() function to convert those strings to UTF8 they end up e.g. as 0x0093, i.e. they must have been some kind of double quotes. Even after doing this conversion, they still show up as 0x0093 in the browser (the squares with 0093 in them when the browser does not know what to display). Can someone explain the problem here? I'm a little confused and afraid I don't see all the dependencies that need to work to have the correct encodings and the correct display thereof...

There is no program at all running except operating system.(I mean all windows shut) I keep getting this : The action cannot be completed because the file is open is another program close file and try again Try again, Try again , Try again ......... what the hell on earth is holding that file and how can I carry on with copy / delete / overwrite files(DB) as this problem is something very common.
