• Drives will not show up on PCI RAID card in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

  Computer specs Intel E8200 Dual Core MSI G45M MB Ultra U12-40739 PCI Expansion Card - 2 SATA Internal Ports, 1.5Gbps, RAID 0, 1, JBOD 6 GB DDR2 Q1. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Amahi, for using Grey Hole, last night. The two disc on the raid card do not show up under Ubuntu 12.04LTS but they do show up under grey hole so I know the drives and the raid card are working and there. I need to access them in Ubuntu to format them and place folders on them but I can not see them or figure out how to access them. Q2. Only 4 of the six drives connected to the MB are showing in Ubuntu, but they show as active in grey hole. I also need to access these drives in Ubuntu as this is my storage server. I am new to LINUX so any help you can provide with simple directions will be greatly appreciated . Thank you Mechh69

  I planning to write an application in which there will be a service (call it A) listening for particular commands. This service will then relay those commands to other services (call them B and C) which are written, respectively, in .NET and Java (service A chooses which of service B or C to which to relay depending on the contents of the request to service A). I am looking for a framework that will allow for interoperability with both .NET and with Java, for example WCF or JAX-WS, or writing a custom framework (e.g., JSON REST commands over HTTP, similar to http://code.google.com/p/selenium/wiki/JsonWireProtocol). What questions/aspects should I consider in deciding?

  I've a problem. Upgrade failed after "Setting new software channels", when Calculating changes. I tried error: Not all updates can be installed An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. Now i have 1580 packages to update and do not update. Partial system upgrade also fails in the first step. What next? Alternatively, to undo the changes? Thank's to help.

• NetworkManager refuses to manage my WLAN interface

  I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 with Gnome 3.6 on a brand-new Samsung NP900X4C. The installer detected the wireless adapter, took in the SSID and WPA passphrase, wrote these into /etc/network/interfaces and connected perfectly. Once installation was finished I wanted to switch to using NetworkManager to manage the wireless adapter, since this is much more convenient than fiddling with /etc/network/interfaces every time I find a new hotspot. Therefore I edited /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf to set: [ifupdown] managed=true When I rebooted NetworkManager, the problems started: - The NetworkManager tray applet changed from saying device not managed to device not ready - I lost all internet connectivity as wlan0 would not associate to the Access Point - if I set managed=false in NetworkManager.conf and restarted both NetworkManager and networking services from the command-line, the Gnome desktop "semi-crashed" and lost all its Window Decorations, the panel, the launcher and basically became unusable. However if I restart the computer completely after setting managed=false, wlan0 once again works perfectly.

  I have been trying to install ubuntu along windows but failed. the issue is that I get a graphical glitch with the colours of the ubuntu loading screen while installing from usb and no progress is made, the pc freezes. I've tryied the nomodeset solution, but when I have to reboot I get the same problem. I've tried ubuntu 13.10, 13.04, 12.04 etc...both generic and for amd: nothing worked... any idea how this could be resolved or which distribution/iso I should try for my system? thank you.   I am currently working as an SDET(Software devlopment Engineer in Test). I have been doing some programming in C# as my job needs. I want to expand my knowledge and experience by creating some simple tools and applications of my own. Consider this like academic projects that are created by students at the end of their course . The idea is to have a practical knowledge on the subjects that I have a theoritical knowledge about. For Eg - I have read about multithreading and have worked on the examples but I do not have a grip over the concepts. In order to get a good grip over the concepts I want to work over some projects involving multithreading, starting with a simple one. Similarly other concepts like REST/SOAP web services using WCF.   When I open any program for first time after boot, it loads VERY slowly (Doesn't matter how long after boot). For example, terminal takes 2-3 seconds, skype and firefox often take much longer. If I close it and open again, it loads in reasonable time (<1 second). I got Intel Core i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, so it shouldn't be hardware issue... What is causing this? Disk benchmark: Average read time: 115.5 MB/s (100 samples) Average write time: 98.7 MB/s (100 samples) Average access time: 11.79 msec (1000 samples)
