• monitor http request from non-browser

  hi, I want to monitor http request generated out of a exe. Is there any tool that can help me? Actually, an exe would call my asp.net web page to register a user. The exe constructs the POST data request and calls my page. when the request reaches my web page, I don't see any data. I want to monitor the Request object and the traffic to find the reality.   I'm currently getting started with Backbone.js. I've wrote some examples with Backbone and they are working fine. But now I need to use Backbone.js with Rails 3.1 and CoffeeScript. I took my well-working examples and rewrote on CoffeeScript using backbone-rails gem. And got the following problem. • Reading a document's content from the gdata API?

  Hi, I'm using the java library to access the gdata api. I just want to be able to print the contents of a document. I setup my project to list all the docs in my feed, now that I have a document listing, I want to print its contents: for (DocumentListEntry entry : feed.getEntries()) { // Ok, how do we print the doc's contents now? entry.getContents(); } It looks like we're supposed to get the URL from the entry, then read the contents at the URL ourselves. I found a post stating that this is how we get that URL: MediaContent content = (MediaContent)entry.getContent(); String url = content.getUri(); but when I try to read from it, I get an html response saying 'this content has moved'. I read that this is because we have to authenticate our http-read method, but I'm not sure how to do that. Is there really no built-in way to do this? Thanks

• How to Grant IIS 7.5 access to a certificate in certificate store?

  In Windows 2003 it was simple to do and one could use the winhttpcertcfg.exe (download) to give "NETWORK SERVICE" account access to a certificate. I'm now using Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 and I am unable to find where and how to set permissions access permissions to a certificate in the certificate store. This Post showed how to do it in Vista and that winhttpcertcfg features were added into the certificates mmc however it doesn't seem to work with imported certificates or doesn't work anymore on Server 2008 R2. So does anyone have any idea on how give IIS 7.5 the correct permissions to read a certificate from the certificate store? And also what account from IIS 7.5 that needs the permission.

  Hit a speed bump, trying to update some column values in my table from another table. This is what is supposed to happen when everything works Correct all the city, state entries in tblWADonations by creating an update statement that moves the zip city from the joined city/state zip field to the tblWADonations city state TBL NAME | COLUMN NAMES tblZipcodes with zip,city,State tblWADonations with zip,oldcity,oldstate This is what I have so far: UPDATE tblWADonations SET oldCity = tblZipCodes.city, oldState = tblZipCodes.state FROM tblWADonations INNER JOIN tblZipCodes ON tblWADonations.zip = tblZipCodes.zip Where oldCity <> tblZipcodes.city; There seems to be easy ways to do this online but I am overlooking something. Tried this by hand and in editor this is what it kicks back. Msg 8152, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated.   I've looked at the example script of python-pam and linux pam pages, but it's a bit confusing, at least for a beginner in PAM (that I am): http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs/pam/Linux-PAM-html/Linux-PAM_ADG.html http://packages.ubuntu.com/python-pam Is it possible to check if a user has or does not have access to login, without entering password? I would like to create a script that root can use to check if a user is allowed or not to login to the system. If so, can someone post an example that checks if the user is allowed against pam_time? • How to mark posts as edited?

  I would like to have questions marked as "Edited", but I dont know what the best way to do this would be. Users post a question, people answer/comment on the question, and if necessary the user edits/updates the question (just like SO). I would like to note that the user edited the question, but I'm not sure of the best way to do this. I was going to add a last_edited column in the table (because thats all thats really important to me), but I'm not sure if I should just split the edit times (and whatever else) into another table and record everytime the question gets edited.

  Hi guys. Thanks in advance for any help received. I want to allow our client to enter a URL into a text field which then checks whether the URL exists and works. There are 3 possible outcomes I want to check for: A status of 200 - OK, A status of 500 - Server Error, Or a status of 404 - page not found. When executing the following code in ASP classic I get a status code of 12007 when I should be getting 404. Is this because it can't find a webserver to return a code of 404? Function CheckURL(vURL) ON ERROR RESUME NEXT Set oXML=Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.XMLHTTP") : oXML.Open "POST",vURL,false : oXML.Send() CheckURL = oXML.status Set oXML = nothing End Function Or is something amiss here.   Hi There, I'm working with a WCF service in Azure, which uses Windows Live ID authentication with the recent deviceid requirements. When I host my WCF service locally in the compute emulator, it works properly, but when I deploy the cloud service to Azure and call it the same way (from another project that uses the WCF service as a service reference), I get the error: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.IdentityModel, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I found this post : http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netservices/thread/cd139b5c-ad12-4298-af2f-1b2d0136a977 But there are a few problems: 1. I don't seem to have access to Microsoft.IdentityModel, only System.IdentityModel. I'm not sure why it's searching for something in 3.5 at all, as I'm building in .NET 4.0. 2. When I choose to "copy to local" on System.IdentityModel, it doesn't change anything. Any help? I would appreciate it! Best Regards, Andy

• How to escape HAML for Javascript in Sinatra

  I would like to return a list/combobox from an ajax request ("Which on of these do you like?" type thing). I would like to write that little snippet in HAML, which converts it to HTML, but when I do, the page goes blank. I'm assuming this is because the HTML isn't escaped. Is there a way to escape HAML so I can do $("#mydiv").html(response);? Here's the method: post "/something" do # process... haml :"partials/_select", :layout => false, :locals => {:collection => choices} end ... the haml template: %select - collection.each do |item| %option{:value => item.to_s}= item.to_s ... and the javascript: success: function(responseText, statusText, xhr, $form) { $(".dialog_content").append(responseText); } I have tried the sinatra_more plugin and the escape_javascript method, but there's problems with the haml buffer in sinatra.   I updated to the version 3.0.0.3. Dragged the new ActiveRecord directory in VS08, and added the newer dll. I'm not sure whats going on yet. When I try to compile the project I get that error. My SVN server just lost my old version, so I'll have to download the older Subsonic version and see if that fixes the problem. I have no clue what I did wrong in the configuration as I updated to 3.0.0.3. (still a new users so I couldn't post a photo, but here a link to the error) link text

• NServiceBus persisting subscriptions in Pub/Sub sample

  I want to figure out how I to set up the Pub/Sub sample from NServiceBus to work in the case of publisher malfunction. When I start the samples and accidentaly close the Subscribers, if I restart everything works fine. If however I kill the publisher and the subscriptions continue to work, if I restart the publisher, then it doesn't seem to know it has subscribers and doesn't post any messages. I added the config entry <MsmqSubscriptionStorageConfig Queue="subscriptions"/> but it seems to not function... I miss something. I googled about MsmqSubscriptionStorageConfig and DbSubscriptionStorageConfig but i didn't find a solution. Could someone point me in the right direction ?

• C++ debugging help for C# programmer

  I'm embarrassed to post this but it's been awhile since I worked in C++, been with C# for awhile. I'm converting old (not written by me) vs2003 and 05 C++ code to vs 08. In addition to lots of lumps during conversion, I want to add debug logging so I can monitor what is going on when I attach with windbg. I've searched the archives here and ms and I think it's using Debugger.Log(...) but not sure. I also remember years ago launching a debug monitor to catch the logging. So the call to some experts that have a better memory than I. What call(s) can I make (without the DEBUG compile directive - need to watch release code) to catch the logging in wind bag? I followed a couple of debugging links from SO posts but they were dead. Thanx - Old Man.

Error: Cannot publish because a project failed to build. Have tried everything, new clean project (both windforms and WPF), new temporary key, disabled pre-requisites and played with every publish setting. • jQuery ajax in DotNetNuke preserving user authentication

  I want to use jQuery's ajax functionality in a DotNetNuke module I'm developing. I want the ajax call to be authenticated via DNN's membership functionality. I want the ajax response as json. How can I do this? I've looked at IWeb and IWebCF -- it's not clear to me from much Googleing and scanning the forums whether these modules would allow me to create a web service that would accept a simple post request and return json (seems like they want to do it the ASP.NET AJAX way with a generated proxy, I'd prefer to just use jQuery's AJAX call functionality). Seems you can't create a simple webmethod in a DNN module (since they are developed as User Controls (.ascx)). I could deploy an .asmx file with module, but that won't leverage DNN's authentication system. Ideas? I'm currently developing against DNN 4.9.5

I have set the post page in reading preferences, and I have set the page to use my template, but it still publishes posts to a default template. Of all the customization I built into this I did not expect the blog part to give me trouble! lol Anyone run into this kind of thing? Thank you.

  I am aware of the multitude of questions here as well as Raymond's excellent (as usual) post. However, since the algorithm to create GUIDs was changed apparently, I found it hard to get my hands on any up-to-date information. The MSDN seems to try and provide as few information as possible. What is known about how GUIDs are generated in .NET 4? What was changed, and how does it affect the security ("randomness") and integrity ("uniqueness")? One specific aspect I'm interested in: In v1, it seems to be about impossible to generate the same GUID on a single machine again since there was a timestamp and counter involved. In v4, this is no longer the case (I was told), so the chance to get the same GUID on a single machine ... increased?

  Hello, I have an asp.net user control, userControl1.ascx, and another user control, userControl2.ascx. userControl2 is inside userControl1. userControl1 is inside an UpdatePanel control. userControl2 has a button in it then I want to have do a normal post back when pushed. I want to use ScriptManager.RegisterPostBackControl(button). I have a ScriptManager on a master page. I don't know how to access the ScriptManager in userControl2 to register the button in the Page_Load event. So, How can I do this?

• Is Code Completion speed improved in Delphi 2010?

  I am working with Delphi 2009 Pro and just tried to find out why code completion is so slow in my setup. Whenever code completion is invoked, the IDE locks up for up to 30s, which really interrupts any workflow. When working with BDS 2006, code completion was incredibly fast compared to Delphi 2009. After reading this post it seems to be normal for Delphi 2009, but just turning off the automatic code completion is not anything I want to do. My question is: If I switch to Delphi 2010, will I have the same slow speed for code completion or was it improved to a point to be usable?
