  • Strange Play Framework 2.2 exceptions after trying to add MySQL / slick

    I'm working on a Play 2.2 application, and things have gone a bit south on me since I've tried adding my DB layer. Below are my build.sbt dependencies. As you can see I use mysql-connector-java and play-slick: libraryDependencies ++= Seq( jdbc, anorm, cache, "joda-time" % "joda-time" % "2.3", "mysql" % "mysql-connector-java" % "5.1.26", "com.typesafe.play" %% "play-slick" % "0.5.0.8", "com.aetrion.flickr" % "flickrapi" % "1.1" ) My application.conf has some similarly simple DB stuff in it: db.default.url="jdbc:mysql://localhost/myDb" db.default.driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" db.default.user="root" db.default.pass="" This is what it looks like when my Play server starts: [info] play - Listening for HTTP on /0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:9000 (Server started, use Ctrl+D to stop and go back to the console...)     I have added the mongoHQ addon for mongodb at heroku. It crashes with something like this. connect_to_master': failed to connect to any given host:port (Mongo::ConnectionFailure) The descriptions online (heroku mongohq) are more directed towards mongomapper, as I see it. I'm running ruby 1.9.1 and rails 3-beta with mongoid.     I'm working on sending out an html based email, and every time it sends the image src tags and some of the anchor href tags are modified to be relative url's. Update 2: This is happening between when the body of the email is generated and sent and when it arrives in my inbox. Update: I am using Postfix on a LAMPP server. In addition, I am using Zend_Mail to send the emails out.     Any suggestions on how to become a better Android programmer? I'm past intro tutorials, which mainly focus on how to use pieces of the SDK, but I still struggle to structure big Android apps. Obviously the best use of my time is continuing with my coding projects, but I'm wondering if I should be learning more about Android particulars, solidifying my somewhat shaky Java knowledge, going back to object-oriented fundamentals or patterns...? Pointers to resources (books, example apps, sites) you've found helpful would be great.

  • Paging through records (json data) using jQuery...

    I have a JSON result that contains numerous records. I'd like to show the first five records in one page and create pager links which have to move to that page with five record so on. I don't want the page to refresh which is why I'm hoping for a combination of JavaScript and jQuery.   • How can I define a clojure type that implements the servlet interface?

    I'm attempting to use deftype (from the bleeding-edge clojure 1.2 branch) to create a java class that implements the java Servlet interface. I would expect the code below to compile (even though it's not very useful). (ns foo [:import [javax.servlet Servlet ServletRequest ServletResponse]]) (deftype servlet [] javax.servlet.Servlet (service [this #^javax.servlet.ServletRequest request #^javax.servlet.ServletResponse response] nil)) But it doesn't compile. The compiler produces the message: Mismatched return type: service, expected: void, had: java.lang.Object [Thrown class java.lang.IllegalArgumentException] Which doesn't make sense to me, because I'm returning nil. So the fact that the return type of the method is void shouldn't be a problem. Any attempt to specify higher numbers gets me always the same message: "SD Card Size must be at least 9MB" What gives? Any idea why this could be happening?

I'm using jQuery UI to switch the tabs on the location map/street view module. I've recently upgraded the Google Maps code as well as the Google Streetview code to version 3. So when I open it in Firefox, with Firebug on, as soon as I switch to the Streetview tab, the navigation and zoom in out controls show, but nothing shows.. and then when I try to drag the map around, it does not move around, but instead, causes errors in Firebug: "too much recursion". So it causes the whole browser to become buggy, slows down, and the errors happen, and nothing shows on the streetview pane.
