  • GVim highlighting with matchadd eventually slows down?

    - by Kyle MacFarlane
I have the following in ~/.vim/ftplugin/python.vim to highlight long lines, accidental tabs and extra whitespace in Python files: hi CustomPythonErrors ctermbg=red ctermfg=white guibg=#592929 au BufWinEnter *.py call matchadd('CustomPythonErrors', '\%>80v.\+', -1) au BufWinEnter *.py call matchadd('CustomPythonErrors', '/^\t\+/', -1) au BufWinEnter *.py call matchadd('CustomPythonErrors', '\s\+$', -1) au BufWinLeave *.py call clearmatches() The BufWinLeave is so that the matches are cleared when I switch to another file in case that file isn't a .py file. It's an essential feature for me when working with something like Django. It all works fine for random amounts of time; from ten minutes to hours (my guess is it depends on how many files I open/close). But eventually when any line over 80 characters is displayed GVim slows to a halt and requires a restart. Does anyone have any ideas why this would eventually slow down?

  • Applying a function with multiple inputs using Map? (Haskell)

    - by Schroedinger
G'day guys, Trying currently to finish up a bit of homework I'm working on, and having an issue where I'm trying to apply map across a function that accepts multiple inputs. so in the case I'm using processList f (x:xs) = map accelerateList f xs x xs processList is given a floating value (f) and a List that it sorts into another List Accelerate List takes a floating value (f) a List and a List Object through which it returns another List Object I know my Accelerate List code is correct, but I cannot for the life of me get the syntax for this code working: processList :: Float -> [Object] -> [Object] accelerate f [] = [] accelerate f [x] = [(accelerateForce f x x)] accelerate f (x:xs) = map accelerateList f xs x xs Any ideas? I've been scratching my head for about 3 hours now. I know it's something really simple.

  • CSS gaps between image links for no reason

    - by Infiniti Fizz
Hi, I've been trying to get this horizontal navigation sorted for the past few hours now and nothing is working. I've tried reset.css stylesheets, *{padding: 0; margin: 0) etc. and I still have gaps inbetween my image links. You see, the navigation is made up of an unordered list of image links displayed inline, but there are gaps in between each image, left, right, top and bottom and I can't see why. It's the same in all browsers. Here is a link to the page, and so source: Beansheaf Temporary I can't post more than one link (damn reputation) so the css is at the same url but in the directory "styles" and is called "fund2.css". The rest of the site is obviously still not done, it's just the navigation I'm worried about right now. Thanks in advance, infiniti fizz

  • Looking for Google Reader javscript commands for controlling events

    - by JayCrossler
I've played in the /reader/ui/ code for a few hours now, and couldn't figure this out. Also, I didn't see any exact help when searching StackOverflow. This is really a JavaScript un-obfuscator question. I'm looking for a way to call the obfuscated Google Reader javascript commands... and am having trouble determining what actual function is called when the "Next Items" button is pressed or the spacebar is hit. I've tried using Firebug as well as FireEvents to track it down, but it's just too well hidden. Any ideas? Something that I could type into the URL bar and make it run, something like 'javascript:SH("entries-down", "click");void(0);' Thanks in advance! And, please let me know if it's against Google's terms of service to de-obfuscate their code to view these JavaScript commands.

  • Creating a program to find longest path

    - by stef89
    Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to programming and I'm having a few problems. Basically I have to make a function that will find the lengths of all the paths through a network diagram. I've been working on this for hours but I can't seem to get anywhere. Using recursion I can navigate through every path but I'm just unsure as to how I should record the lengths of the paths. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! $dependencies = array("","","","1","3","4,2"); $durations = array("5","3","4","11","9","10"); function tracePath($path,$dependencies,$durations,$returnArray=array()) { if($dependencies[$path] != "") { $currentTaskDependencies = preg_split("/[\s]*[,][\s]*/", $dependencies[$path]); for($i=0;$i<count($currentTaskDependencies);$i++) { tracePath($currentTaskDependencies[$i]-1,$dependencies,$durations,$returnArray[$i]); } } return $returnArray; } tracePath(6,$dependencies,$durations);

  • Alternative to 'where col in (list)' for MySQL

    - by user210481
Hi I have the following table T: id 1 2 3 4 col a b a c I want to do a select that returns the id,col when group by(col) having count(col)1 One way of doing it is SELECT id,col FROM T WHERE col IN (SELECT col FROM T GROUP BY(col) HAVING COUNT(col)>1); The intern select (from the right) returns 'a' and main one (left) will return 1,a and 3,a The problem is that the where in statement seems to be extremely slow. In my real case, the results from the internal select has many 'col's, something about 70000 and it's taking hours. Right now it's much faster to do the internal select and the main select getting all ids and upcs and do the intersection locally. MySQL should be able to handle this kind of query efficiently. Can I substitute the where in for a join or something faster? Thanks

  • Ajax JQuery responses order problem....

    - by Parhs
Hello !!! I am searching 3 hours and didnt find anything.... i have this code which is called at an onChange event of an function group_changed(obj) { $.ajaxSetup({async:false}); $.post("/medilab/personnel/groups/getGroupRightsAjax",{ 'group.id': obj.options[obj.selectedIndex].value }, function(data){ $("#div_rights").html(data); }); } This works fine but if i set async:true sometimes the result doesnt match the selection... I guess that this is happening because some requests are lost or that the responses dont come in order..... Any idea what to do to keep it asynchronous?

  • Template class implicit copy constructor issues

    - by Nate
Stepping through my program in gdb, line 108 returns right back to the calling function, and doesn't call the copy constructor in class A, like (I thought) it should: template <class S> class A{ //etc... A( const A & old ){ //do stuff... } //etc... }; template <class T> class B{ //etc... A<T> ReturnsAnA(){ A<T> result; // do some stuff with result return result; //line 108 } //etc... }; Any hints? I've banged my head against the wall about this for 4 hours now, and can't seem to come up with what's happening here.

  • Problem with videos on heroku

Hi, I have recently moved my RoR app on the Heroku platform, and almost everything works fine apart from the videos. It works fine when my app runs in local but not on heroku. • CUDA & VS2010 problem

    - by Kristian D'Amato
I have scoured the internets looking for an answer to this one, but couldn't find any. I've installed the CUDA 3.2 SDK (and, just now, CUDA 4.0 RC) and everything seems to work fine after long hours of fooling around with include directories, NSight, and all the rest. Well, except this one thing: it keeps highlighting the <<< >>> operator as a mistake. Only on VS2010--not on VS2008. On VS2010 I also get several warnings of the following sort: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\include\xdebug(109): warning C4251: 'std::_String_val<_Ty,_Alloc>::_Alval' : class 'std::_DebugHeapAllocator<_Ty>' needs to have dll-interface to be used by clients of class 'std::_String_val<_Ty,_Alloc>' Anyone know how this can be fixed?

  • Restoring using SyncBack without profiles

    - by Thomas Matthews
I backed up my internal hard drive (C:) using SyncBack onto an external (USB) hard drive with maximum compression. I then performed a clean install of Windows Vista onto the computer. I forgot to copy the SyncBack logs before the clean install. And now when ever I try to restore a directory, the RAR/ZIP files are copied to the system hard drive instead of extracting their contents to the hard drive. Also, SyncBack is not traversing the folders during the Restore process. How can I tell SyncBack to expand the compressed files? I am running the freeware version of SyncBack. I have to create new log files (unless SyncBack put them somewhere on the external drive). My alternative is to write a program that traverses the folders on the external drive and extracts files from the RAR/ZIP files. I am using Windows Vista, Service Pack 2, and the data size prior to backup was about 200 GB. (The backup process took over 72 hours due to "hiccups").

  • Timeout in LINQ to SQL inserting millions of records

    - by Bas
I'm inserting approximently 3 million records in a database using this solution. Eventually when the application has been inserting records for a while (my last run lasted around 4 hours), it gives a timeout with the following SqlException: "SqlExcepetion: Timeout expired. The timeoutperiod elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding." What's the best way to handle this exception? Is there a way to prevent this from happening or should I catch the exception? Thanks in advance!

  • Binning into timeslots - Is there a better way than using list comp?

    - by flyingcrab
I have a dataset of events (tweets to be specific) that I am trying to bin / discretize. The following code seems to work fine so far (assuming 100 bins): HOUR = timedelta(hours=1) start = datetime.datetime(2009,01,01) z = [dt + x*HOUR for x in xrange(1, 100)] But then, I came across this fateful line at python docs 'This makes possible an idiom for clustering a data series into n-length groups using zip(*[iter(s)]*n)'. The zip idiom does indeed work - but I can't understand how (what is the * operator for instance?). How could I use to make my code prettier? I'm guessing this means I should make a generator / iterable for time that yields the time in graduations of an HOUR?

  • Having to keep on restarting the Application Pool?

    - by smclintock
One of our major websites (built on PHP, MSSQL, IIS7) has started to become unresponsive every few hours and I'm having to log on to the server and restart the application pool. The rest of the websites on the server are fine, so I figure it may be due to a code problem? Whilst I look over all the code, specifically the database connections, would anyone have any advice on how I could better track this down to what is actually causing it to become unresponsive? By "unresponsive" I mean when you enter the URL it doesn't resolve and times out. Thanks for any help, Steven.

  • free RSS feed caching

    - by cherouvim
Hello I've got an application which serves an rss feed of headlines and I need to provide this rss feed to other consumers. I don't want to provide the rss directly from my server though, due to limited server resources, so I need to proxy (cache) it through some service which will handle the load. Assuming the rss feed URL of my application is http://example.com/rss I initially provided my consumers with the url http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/feed/load?v=1.0&q=http%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Frss which solved my server load problem but introduced a liveness problem. The headlines are minutes to hours late from the actual feed (haven't exactly measured how much late). I've also tried distributing through feedburner so the url became something like http://feeds.feedburner.com/example123?format=xml but the liveness problem still exists. Is there a public and free solution for this problem? Anything below 5 minutes of liveness delay would be totally acceptable. thanks

  • Is there an algorithm for determining how much daylight there is?

    - by Pharaun
Is there a function/algorithm that allows me to input the latitude and the approximate orbital position of the earth in so that I can determine how long the sun is up? IE during the winter it would show that the sun is only up a few hours in the far north hemisphere. I did some basic Google search and didn't find much so I was thinking that I might have to do some trigonometry that would allow me to calculate how much the earth is inclined or not toward the sun then use that information along with the latitude to figure out how much sunshine a site would be getting.

  • What to do when you are a programmer and have a cold?

    - by Zak
If you have a cold that isn't too bad, does it make sense to still go into the office and get some coding done? Assume a private office, no meetings for the day, and you have some documentation and coding tasks that need to get done. Also assume that you operate on a PTO system, where all days off are "vacation" or PTO. To clarify, should one just not code at all when under the weather? That's what I'm getting at. Will you just kick yourself in your own rear when you go back to deal with code you wrote when you are sick? What is the error defect rate of sick vs non-sick programming hours?

  • jQuery: Sorting hierarchical data?

    - by Industrial
Hi everybody, I have tried for some time to work out a way of sorting nested categories with jQuery. I failed to build my own plugin to do this, so I tried to find something that were available already. Tried a few hours now with this one, http://www.jordivila.net/code/js/jquery/ui-widgetTreeList_inheritance/widgetTreeListSample.aspx and cant get it to work. What are the alternatives of creating a jQuery / jQuery UI script that handles sorting children and parent categories in a way that can be combined with a AJAX PHP backend to handle the actual sorting in the database? Thanks!

I'm sorry if im not presenting this right, but i trully cannot understand what the problem is. i have a project to hand in, a code of 600 lines defined within a main, .cpp, and header file. if i compile the project with just a debugger and no release, it's fine. when i create it with the release, the following error occurs, for every function!!! 1st error: |36|multiple definition of `countLines(int&, std::vector const&)'| 2nd error: |36|first defined here| if someone will allow me and i can send them the entire code, that would be awesome - i have to have this done within 3 hours.

  • Get Rails to save a record to the database in a non-UTC time

    - by Shaun
Is there a way to get Rails to save records to the database without it automagically converting the timestamp into UTC before saving? The problem is that I have a few models that pull data from a legacy database that saves everything in Mountain Time and occasionally I have to have my Rails app write to that database. The problem is that every time it does, it converts the time I give it from Mountain Time to UTC, which is 6-7 hours ahead (depending on DST)! Needless to say, this really messes with reporting on that database. If I could get around doing this, I would. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about the fact that this other database uses a different timezone, nor can I really get away from the need for this app to save to that database occasionally. If I could just get Rails to stop trying to help me, it'd be great.

    I have a db, that stores dates in OleDateTime format, in GMT timezone. I've implemented a class, extending Date in java to represent that in classic date format. But my class is locale-dependent (I'm in GMT+2). Therefore, it converts the date in the db as date - 2 hours. How do I make it convert the date correctly? I want my class to be locale-independent, always using GMT timezone. Actually, the question is: class MyOleDateTime extends Date { static { Locale.setDefault(WhatGoesHere?) } // ... some constructors // ... some methods }

  • Display relative time in hour, day, month and year

    - by JohnJohnGa
I wrote a function toBeautyString(epoch) : String which given a epoch, return a string which will display the relative time from now in hour and minute For instance: // epoch: 1346140800 -> Tue, 28 Aug 2012 05:00:00 GMT // and now: 1346313600 -> Thu, 30 Aug 2012 08:00:00 GMT toBeautyString(1346140800) -> "2 days and 3 hours ago" I want now to extend this function to month and year, so it will be able to print: 2 years, 1 month, 3 days and 1 hour ago Only with epoch without any external libraries. The purpose of this function is to give to the user a better way to visualize the time in the past. I found this: Calculating relative time but the granularity is not enough.

  • DateTimeAxis - set Label to display Date + Time

    - by Jay
Hi, Is there a way in flex 3 chart component to display both the date and time using horizontal DateTimeAxis? Currently the DateTimeAxis element has an attribute dataunits which allows to set the value to any of "milliseconds|seconds|minutes|hours|days|weeks|months|years" but I want to display the label as "2009/09/15 06:00:00" which includes the day and the time too. Here is the sample that i'm using [Bindable] public var deck:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([ {date:"2009-09-15 06:00:00", close:42.71}, {date:"2009-09-16 06:15:00", close:42.99} ]); public function myParseFunction(s:String):Date { var sDate = s.substring(0,s.indexOf(" ")); var sTime = s.substring(s.indexOf(" ")); var aDate = sDate.split("-"); var aTime = sTime.split(":"); return new Date(aDate[0],(aDate[1]*1-1),aDate[2],aTime[0],aTime[1],aTime[2],0); } ]] Thanks in advance.

  • Using Array Variables For FILE_GET_CONTENTS

    - by Whoshooter
I have a script all done now and everything has been debugged and it works, except for the last hurdle. This script grabs pertinent information on bank web sites, takes that data and uses it to populate a template and then it's all posted to Wordpress - BUT I get an error because the file_get_contents function fails taking each url from the Array. I've var_dumped the array and all the URLS are there in the [0] key, so this is what I tried. master data is the scraped URL source the script uses urlscrape_array is the collection of URLS $master_data = file_get_contents($urlscrape_array[0]); When I run the script using a URL like below it works beautifully every time; $master_data = file_get_contents("http://www.somesite/somepage.html"); This is the error I get when I try to use the first example' Warning: file_get_contents() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home3/path/public_html/mysite.com/boise_project/scriptmainpage.php on line 13 As requested here is a sample of the var_dump on $urlscrape_array[0] array(504) { [0]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-3178.html" [1]=> string(54) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-16.html" [2]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-3202.html" [3]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-4324.html" [4]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-4777.html" [5]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-5140.html" [6]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-5220.html" [7]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-9205.html" [8]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-3251.html" [9]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/somepage-3323.html" [10]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/some-page-3797.html" [11]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/some-page-4145.html" [12]=> string(56) "http://www.somepage.com/some-page-3191.html" [13]=> string(55) "http://www.somepage.com/some-page-329.html" [14]=> string(56) etc....
