• I am using jquery ajax using text() but any html written in the XML doesn't render?

  So I have Jquery Ajax working real nice, but an issue I am having is in my XML if I want to bold a work or Italicize a sentence, if I do it in the XML using HTML tags it will not show up. I am pretty sure it is due to using the .text(). • Force deletion of slot in boost::signals2

  Hi! I have found that boost::signals2 uses sort of a lazy deletion of connected slots, which makes it difficult to use connections as something that manages lifetimes of objects. I am looking for a way to force slots to be deleted directly when disconnected. Any ideas on how to work around the problem by designing my code differently are also appreciated! This is my scenario: I have a Command class responsible for doing something that takes time asynchronously, looking something like this (simplified): class ActualWorker { public: boost::signals2<void ()> OnWorkComplete; }; class Command : boost::enable_shared_from_this<Command> { public: ... void Execute() { m_WorkerConnection = m_MyWorker.OnWorkDone.connect(boost::bind(&Command::Handle_OnWorkComplete, shared_from_this()); // launch asynchronous work here and return } boost::signals2<void ()> OnComplete; private: void Handle_OnWorkComplete() { // get a shared_ptr to ourselves to make sure that we live through // this function but don't keep ourselves alive if an exception occurs. shared_ptr<Command> me = shared_from_this(); // Disconnect from the signal, ideally deleting the slot object m_WorkerConnection.disconnect(); OnComplete(); // the shared_ptr now goes out of scope, ideally deleting this } ActualWorker m_MyWorker; boost::signals2::connection m_WorkerConnection; }; The class is invoked about like this: ... boost::shared_ptr<Command> cmd(new Command); cmd->OnComplete.connect( foo ); cmd->Execute(); // now go do something else, forget all about the cmd variable etcetera. the Command class keeps itself alive by getting a shared_ptr to itself which is bound to the ActualWorker signal using boost::bind. When the worker completes, the handler in Command is invoked. Now, since I would like the Command object to be destroyed, I disconnect from the signal as can be seen in the code above. The problem is that the actual slot object is not deleted when disconnected, it is only marked as invalid and then deleted at a later time. This in turn appears to depend on the signal to fire again, which it doesn't do in my case, leading to the slot never expiring. The boost::bind object thus never goes out of scope, holding a shared_ptr to my object that will never get deleted. I can work around this by binding using the this pointer instead of a shared_ptr and then keeping my object alive using a member shared_ptr which I then release in the handler function, but it kind of makes the design feel a bit overcomplicated. Is there a way to force signals2 to delete the slot when disconnecting? Or is there something else I could do to simplify the design? Any comments are appreciated!

• Entering Complex Data into Access

  Fairly new to Access and trying to do something that seems simple, but may be very complex. I want to create a database of projects, each project has several phases (ie proposal, marketing, etc) and that will allow for multiple employees to work on a single project. Ie Bob and John are working on project number 102. From here, i would like to enter the forecasted start and end dates for each phase of the project, and enter the forecasted number our hours each employee will be allowed to work on that phase of that project ie. Project - Employee - Phase - Start - End - (list weeks) 102 - Bob - Marketing - 12-May-10 - 21-May-10 - 3 - 5 (3 hours first week, 5 hours the second) and so on Basically would all this data be on one table, or several? And can access dynamically show the weeks between the start and end date so that i can input the hours? I feel this database will become severely complicated :S Thanks, J

• How to make technical training session useful and successful for trainee?

  Are these suggestions good to give for a successful training session? Practice time should be always given immediate after technical training? usually after receiving any technical session about any new thing we do routine work. If we don't do practice just after training, later when we do any work related to that training then we feel we need training again. So if we are getting training today and will not use it for some period of time (15 -30 -60 days) then the training is of no use, as it is at the wrong time. I.e. • sql boolean truth test: zero OR null

  Is there way to test for both 0 and NULL with one equality operator? I realize I could do this: WHERE field = 0 OR field IS NULL But my life would be a hundred times easier if this would work: WHERE field IN (0, NULL) (btw, why doesn't that work?) I've also read about converting NULL to 0 in the SELECT statement (with COALESCE). The framework I'm using would also make this unpleasant. Realize this is oddly specific, but is there any way to test for 0 and NULL with one WHERE predicate?

• Using excel, how can I count the number of cells in a column containing the text "true" or "false"?

  I have a spreadsheet that has a column of cells where each cell contains a single work. I would like to count the occurrences of some words. I can use the COUNTIF function for most words, but if the word is "true" or "false", I get 0. A B 1 apples 2 2 true 0 3 false 0 4 oranges 1 5 apples In the above spreadsheet table, I have these formulas in cells B1, B2, B3 and B4: =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"apples") =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"true") =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"false") =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"oranges) As you can see, I can count apples, but not true or false. I have also tried this: =COUNTIF(A1:A5,TRUE) But that does not work either. Note -- I am using Excel 2007.

• IDLE wont start Python 2.6.5

  I was using it as my primary text editor for quite sometime. However, one day it just stopped working. This had happened to me several times before, so I simply tried to end all procceses using windows task manager. However that didn't work. I've recently tried getting it to work again. Whenever I try to reopen it it informs me that it's subprocess couldn't connect. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, yet the problem persists. Anyone have any other solutions? • Web service URL being overwritten with localhost

  I have a reference to a web service on a remote server like such... http://10.5.1.121/PersonifyWebServicePPROD/UniversalWebService/default.wsdl The moment I invoke the web service and view its URL property it looks like... http://localhost/PersonifyWebServicePPROD/UniversalWebService/default.asmx Can anyone tell me why it's overwriting the remote server with localhost? The vendor that provided the web service said I have to reference the wsdl and not the asmx in order for it to work. I've tried running it both within IIS and as a web app on the filesystem and neither scenario work. This is on the .Net 3.5 framework.

  Hello, I have an app using raw_id on both ForeignKeyField and ManyToManyField. The admin displays the value of the foreign key on the right of the edit box. Unfortunatey, it doesn't work with ManyToMany. I've checked the code and I think that it is the normal behavior. However I would like to know if someone has an easy tip to change this behavior? Thanks in advance Update: I've tried to subclass the ManyToManyRawIdWidget but I don't know how to say that the raw_id_fields should use my custom widget. formfield_overrides doesn't seem to work with raw_id fields

• Undefined template methods trick ?

  A colleague of mine told me about a little piece of design he has used with his team that sent my mind boiling. It's a kind of traits class that they can specialize in an extremely decoupled way. I've had a hard time understanding how it could possibly work, and I am still unsure of the idea I have, so I thought I would ask for help here. We are talking g++ here, specifically the versions 3.4.2 and 4.3.2 (it seems to work with both).   Is there a possibility to set size of Report to fit on one page pragmatically. In excel there is option for page Scaling where We can set how many pages by tall and by wide is going to be printed . Does exists something analog in SSRS2008 ? I am using Sql Report Server 2008 and Ill try to do that by exporting report to excel and after that to set numbers of pages using ASP and C#. But the bad thing that I do not have office system installed on my server, and If I deploy code over visual studio project for Excel worksheet I am afraid that is not going to work on my server. • SharePoint form-based authentication problem with itemDeleting event?

  Hi! I have a SharePoint site (I'm the farm administrator with full control over the farm and site) and I used Windows authentication. I had a event receiver feature installed which manage add/update/delete for my lists to have custom behavior. Everything worked ok on Windows Authentication. But... now I am using form-based authentication (the same, I'm the site administrator with full control), but my feature works fine only with add/update events.... delete doesn't work any more, and it's the same code (damn it) as it was on windows authentication. • Ajax twice + facbook login/logout

  Hi, I have a very specific problem. The site I'm developing loads the FB connect button by ajax (it loads the box that includes FBC button). And when user logs in it loads instead of it the box with FB logout link. The problem is that FB requires to call FB.init() at the end of the body (when all the FB stuff is already on the page) and you can't do it twice as the second time is ignored. So what happens is - I do FB.init() inside the login box and FBC button works perfectly, but the logout link doesn't as FB.init() doesn't work there. The only solution I came up with is to place the login and logout buttons outside of ajax boxes and show them in the right places after ajax boxes are loaded. I'm pretty much sure this will work but I don't like the solution (which looks more like hack).

• Compiling C Source with Makefile in Windows

  I'm trying to compile a downloaded program in Windows. The program is usually run in Linux, but is programmed to also run in Windows (the code has #if defined(_WIN32)'s in it, and claims to work with borland free tools). When I try to use make from the command line, it tells me "Incorrect command line argument: -C". In the makefile, there are many lines that say "make -C" followed by a directory name. Does this syntax not work in Windows? What is a correct way to do this? Is there any way to compile this for native use in Windows with this makefile?

  in my asp.net MVC project i have an database connection with connectionstring: Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=dbname;Integrated Security=True All users can execute Stored Procedures on that connection and i want to log those users. so after each execution I store "User.Identity.Name" to another database. This work great on my development machine but after deployment, to access the site i have to go through a VPN-connention and then remote desktop to the same server that the IIS is running on and use a web-browser there. Then i get User.Identity.Name: "NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE". i would expect it to be the credentials i entered in remote desktop that have access to the database. any idea how i can get this to work? iis6 authentication: "windows authentication: enabled" web.config:

• Using FieldSelector when searching with Lucene

  I'm searching articles in PubMed via Lucene. Each of the 20,000,000 articles has an abstract with ~250 words and an ID. At the moment I store my searches, with each take multiple seconds, in a TopDocs object. Searchs can find thousands of articles. I'm just interested in the ID of the article. Does Lucene load the abstracts internally into the TopDocs? If so can I prevent that behavior through FieldSelectors or do FieldSelectors only work with IndexReader and don't work with IndexSearcher?

• Representing a Gameworld that is Irregularly shaped

  I am working on a project where the game world is irregularly shaped (Think of the shape of a lake). this shape has a grid with coordinates placed over it. The game world is only on the inside of the shape. (Once again, think Lake) How can I efficiently represent the game world? I know that many worlds are basically square, and work well in a 2 or 3 dimension array. I feel like if I use an array that is square, then I am basically wasting space, and increasing the amount of time that I need to iterate through the array. However, I am not sure how a jagged array would work here either. So I would a method that makes it easy to do so.
