  Hello friends... In My computer Lan card model is Realtek RTL8168B/8111B PCI-E GIGABIT ETHERNET NIC (NDIS 6.20) My system is dual boot windows 7 and redhat 5.1 Now windows 7 automatically detected this lan card but in redhat lan card is not detected.I have tried to through evrywhere like network or through neat-tui but it is not showing lan card.. I tried google also but all of them providing windows software for this lan card . So please anyone can tell me the link so that i can download drivers for this and can use internet there.. • Camera Canon pal DC95 not being able to get cd contents

  Hey! A friend of mine recorded a family event with his Canon pal DC95. This camera records to a mini cd. I saw the cd being played in the camera (which was hooked up to a tv) but when I place the cd's in my pcs cd player I see nothing. Like if the cd had nothing on it. I tried downloading the manual of the camera (maybe I have to do something to the cd) but I can't find it online. I really want to get the videos on the cd so I can pass them to some other friends. Anyone know how I can achieve this? Please help me out :) Thanks. PS: Just a reminder. I know that the cd's contain stuff, but when I place the cd in the drive I just see a blank cd.

• Manage song metadata on CentOS from command line

  I am making a simple Pandora.com alternative for myself and a few friends where the user can upload his/her songs and listen to them anywhere. My intent is to make a lightweight, simple player in HTML5 so all the user needs is a current Firefox or Chrome to use it. I have set it up so that all uploaded songs get converted to .ogg and added to a database but I also want some metadata (not sure if that is the correct term) for the songs to be stored in the database so the player can tell the user what song he/she is listening too. I know there are several GUI tools for managing the title/artist/album info for songs but I'm having trouble finding any good ones I can use from the command line. If the song has the information already in the file, I think I can use mplayer to retrieve the information but it would be really great if there was one that would look up the song information online. I don't mind interfacing with an API (would be pretty interesting actually). Do you guys have any suggestions?

Flickr, Picasa etc. are not optimal solutions because setting up accounts, sharing albums and navigating privacy settings is going to be overwhelming for some of the people. I just want to be able to give people a URL, a username, and password and have it be easy peasy. I want something very simple and easy to use (for the user) like MyTunesRSS. I've looked at a complete "social" solution like Elgg but that feels like using a cadillac to kill a fly. I only need: User management Simple upload / download of files Plug-into-MAMP ease of setup is a bonus Search / metadata / tags / commenting not necessary but also earns bonus points Free / cheap licence What would you recommend?

We like the aspect of it that it allows private messages and chat rooms. Plus the ability to send/receive files and is cross platform (Linux/Mac/Windows/Mobile). Our domain is about to expire and we are looking to move onto something new. • Can Acer Aspire Revo (Atom 330) be used with two monitor dispaly?

  I'm so attracted to Acer Revo for the price & the look. As long as I can work on two monitors simultaneously, I'll be happy. Not planning to do heavy video editing or gaming. Occasional movie streaming would be fine. Will mainly use it to do trading, lots of word processing, some photo editing, connecting with friends. Anyone has experience using Revo with 2 or more monitors? The spec says it has VGA and HDMI output but Acer sales person over the phone told me it can support one monitor only..??

• Extremely slow internet-connection?

  Hello Few days ago I opened my computer as I always do after school, and got pretty amazed about my 1.27kb/s download-speed. It has continued for few days already. We have a wireless network, which is used by 3 computers. Normally I've gotten 200kb/s (I think we have a 2mb-connection) but now it just suddenly slowed down. My friends have the same service-provider, but no problem. So, is there any kind of program, which would show me all the programs using connection and how much. It must be a program open which just takes all speed off. Any help is appreciated, Martti Laine

• Weird problem, special characters coming after formatting the hard drive, computer isn't starting 0_

  Hya friends , Last night my computer was working fine. But today when i came back from college and started it , it was starting fine but after sometime it's getting restarted , again and again getting restarted at different points , so i tried to boot it in safe mode but same problem. Now after all this , i finally decided to format the drive C (it is in 80 GB) and load new OS windows XP3. After formatting (quick format) and loading xp3 sufficient files , when it was getting rebooted for copying the actual os files , it hung and a weird screen came. • Toshiba monitor not displaying anything

  Alright, so I agreed to fix a friends computer, thinking it was a software problem, not hardware. I was going to use an XP disc and valid code to swap her from Vista to XP, as apparently Vista had some driver issues. I found out, however, that the real problem was her heat sink was completely clogged, causing the computer to overheat and shut down. So, I took the computer apart and cleaned the heat sink. However, after putting it all back together, and turning it on, nothing at all shows up. I plugged in an external monitor, and nothing shows up on that either. I have double, triple, decuply checked all the connections and everything appears to be plugged in, attached, and in the right place. I am out of ideas. So, my question is, does anyone have any clue what is going on, and have suggestions I could try?

  I have a few friends which keep on coming to me every month to format their laptops and then reinstall Windows. This is time consuming. Is there any way that I can make an image of their full system on my Harddrive and then restore to their Laptop from my computer? Edit: What I want is I have the image of the whole laptop on my desktop. The laptop is formatted with no OS. I have no CD/DVD to put in laptop (as the image is 15GB). How will I trasfer the image from my desktop to the laptop without using CD/DVD? Any option for booting via network, etc?

  0 Hello friends... In My computer Lan card model is Realtek RTL8168B/8111B PCI-E GIGABIT ETHERNET NIC (NDIS 6.20) My system is dual boot windows 7 and redhat 5.1.Redhat is not picking up this model of Lan card automaticlly. I tried it by downloading from realtak site for this particular model and find some .tar packages for my kernal and when i tried to install them ... check old drivers & unload it build the module and install make */lib/modules/2.6.18-53.e15/build: no such file or directory stop make[1]: *[modules] error 2 make : [modules] error 2 i downloaded tar files from sites and unpack according to their instrution i tried to run autorun.sh script as mentioned in readme file but after doing this it is showing above error... Now what to do i am not getting

• Why is my HDD not showing up?

  I'm on Windows 7, got a new 2 TiB NON-external hard disk. When I plug it in it doesn't show up on the Disk Management list in the Computer Management window (that you get by right-clicking My Computer and selecting "Manage"). At first I thought it was broken, but I could see it using a friend's computer. I've run a full disk scan using the official tool from Western Digital, no problems. I've formatted it and partitioned it at another friends place, I've even encrypted the disk fully without any problems, then mounted it and placed a text file on it with the word "hello" inside and saved the file. When I boot my own computer the disk shows up in BIOS. So the disk is not broken. I've tried changing what SATA slot on the motherboard I stick it in. Makes no difference. After all this: Why won't my Windows 7 discover the disk???

• updating drive mapping GPO programmatically using powershell

  I have a Group Policy in a domain that have lots of drive mapping settings. I would like to change the path for a lot of these servers in this gpo with powershell if possible. I know i could do this via the GPMC, but would prefer to do it programtically. I have looked at the grouppolicy powershell module from microsoft (get-gpo and friends) but i only seem to be able to change registry entrys and permissions on the policys, not the actual path for the drivemapping. any ideas?   For my home network (with internet provided from a cable modem) I would like to setup a secure wireless access point that I use for all of my personal connections (home PC, iPhone, Xbox, etc) and also another public access point that friends and folks in the neighborhood may connect to (for good karma). I want to ensure that my private traffic cannot be accessed from users of the public access point. I currently have one router that is running the Tomato firmware that I use with WPA security. What is the best way to accomplish this kind of setup securely (if it is possible in a home environment)?

  Hi, I have a late-2008 unibody macbook model with 2 GB of ram. I am looking to upgrade to 4 GB of ram. I looked about a month ago at Other World Computing's 4 GB upgrade kit and I remember it being around $80. I looked today, finally getting to buy it and it went up to almost $100. I found another site, memoryupgrade.pro that calls itself "Pro memory upgrade" and it looks legitimate - it sells the memory for around $80 in its own brand. The only thing is, I haven't been able to find any reviews about it, and I'm not sure if it actually is reliable. Does anybody have any experience with this site? Does anybody have any other suggestions for buying macbook memory? I have friends who bought from OWC and were happy, should I just spend the extra $30 (including shipping) and buy from them? • Watch videos from a remote computer on the LAN on ubuntu

  I want to watch the videos on a friends computer on the LAN without having to download it. Both of us are running ubuntu. Now one way is to ssh to his computer, cd to the directory where the video is and run the falling command: cat video.avi | ssh me@mycomputer mplayer - This works. However the problem is that I cannot seek inside the video as in can't go forward or backward in it. Is there a method by which I can watch the videos and also seek in them ? I can install any software on his comp and my comp to aid this process. I have root level access on both computers. Any suggestions ?

• Windows 7 starter will not shutdown or logoff

  Hi all, Im having some problems with a friends netbook (a dell mini 10). It will not shutdown or logoff via the usual route. Whenever the shutdown/logoff button is clicked, it will briefly freeze (maybe for only a second) and then do nothing. Ive tried shutting down manually via the command line using shutdown /p but all to no avail, it just defaults back to flashing cursor in the command prompt. There doesnt seem to be any mention of a similar problem on google so i was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. Thanks oh and its runnning windows 7 starter.

  Back to the time of Windows XP, from Properties dialog of my Wireless Connection, I can enable sharing and then select LAN network from the Drop Down List and boom, I can share it with my friend. We just need a LAN cable (either cross or not-cross is OK) and his Laptop will get an auto IP to gain access to internet. But now with the new Windows 7, everything starts to suck. I cannot see the Drop Down List any more in the sharing panel and my friends Laptop cannot get an automatic IP anymore. Am I doing anything wrong over there? How can I gain back the peace I used to have with Windows XP?

  Hi friends, I'm badly affected with 'Google AppEngine-Google' UserAgent.. receiving 5/6 requests per second on http server. This bot is crawling my site just like GoogleBot does.
