  • How To: UiBinder + GWT MVP + multiple independent display areas

    - by Prt Yz
    I am using GWT MVP and UiBinder to create an app with a DockLayoutPanel. I want the north and south docks to be static, containing buttons and links. I want to have dynamic views in the center and two different areas of the east dock. As these dynamic areas should be independent of each other, I am setting up different ActivityMapper and ActivityManager's for each dynamic display area; center, east-top, and east-bottom. How can I independently initialize these 3 different display areas when the application is loaded? How can I switch from one Activity to another in one display area without affecting the other areas? When I use the the PlaceController's goTo to switch from one Place to another in one area, the other area's Activity is stopped. Mayday, please help, mayday! The following is some of my code: AppViewImpl.ui.xml <g:DockLayoutPanel styleName="{style.dockPanel}" unit="PX" width="975px" height="100%"> <!-- DOCK PANEL EAST --> <g:east size="220"> <g:LayoutPanel styleName="{style.eastPanel}"> <g:layer left="0px" width="220px" top="0px" height="105px"> <g:SimpleLayoutPanel ui:field="topRightPanel"/> </g:layer> <g:layer left="0px" width="220px" top="110px" height="340px"> <g:InlineLabel styleName="{style.label}" text="ANOTHER DISPLAY AREA"/> </g:layer> </g:LayoutPanel> </g:east> <!-- DOCK PANEL NORTH --> <g:north size="110"> <g:LayoutPanel styleName="{style.northPanel}"> <g:layer left="0px" width="755px" top="0px" height="105px"> <g:InlineLabel styleName="{style.label}" text="NORTH PANEL"/> </g:layer> </g:LayoutPanel> </g:north> <!-- DOCK PANEL SOUTH --> <g:south size="20"> <g:LayoutPanel styleName="{style.southPanel}"> <g:layer left="0px" width="755px" top="0px" height="20px"> <g:InlineLabel styleName="{style.label}" text="SOUTH PANEL"/> </g:layer> </g:LayoutPanel> </g:south> <!-- DOCK PANEL CENTER --> <g:center> <g:SimpleLayoutPanel ui:field="mainPanel" /> </g:center> </g:DockLayoutPanel> MyModule.java public class MyModule implements EntryPoint { private Place defaultPlace = new DefaultPlace(""); public void onModuleLoad() { // Create ClientFactory using deferred binding so we can replace with // different impls in gwt.xml ClientFactory clientFactory = GWT.create(ClientFactory.class); EventBus eventBus = clientFactory.getEventBus(); PlaceController placeController = clientFactory.getPlaceController(); // Start ActivityManager for the main widget with our ActivityMapper ActivityMapper topRightActivityMapper = new TopRightActivityMapper(clientFactory); ActivityManager topRightActivityManager = new ActivityManager(topRightActivityMapper, eventBus); topRightActivityManager.setDisplay(clientFactory.getAppView().getTopRightPanel()); // Start ActivityManager for the main widget with our ActivityMapper ActivityMapper mainActivityMapper = new AppActivityMapper(clientFactory); ActivityManager mainActivityManager = new ActivityManager(mainActivityMapper, eventBus); mainActivityManager.setDisplay(clientFactory.getAppView().getMainPanel()); // Start PlaceHistoryHandler with our PlaceHistoryMapper AppPlaceHistoryMapper historyMapper = GWT .create(AppPlaceHistoryMapper.class); PlaceHistoryHandler historyHandler = new PlaceHistoryHandler(historyMapper); historyHandler.register(placeController, eventBus, defaultPlace); RootLayoutPanel.get().add(clientFactory.getAppView()); // Goes to place represented on URL or default place historyHandler.handleCurrentHistory(); new AppController(clientFactory); } } AppController.java public class AppController implements AppView.Presenter { private ClientFactory clientFactory; AppController(ClientFactory clientFactory){ this.clientFactory = clientFactory; goTo(new TopRightAPlace("")); } @Override public void goTo(Place place) { clientFactory.getPlaceController().goTo(place); } } TopRightAViewImpl.java public class TopRightAViewImpl extends Composite implements TopRightAView { interface Binder extends UiBinder<Widget, TopRightAViewImpl> { } private static final Binder binder = GWT.create(Binder.class); private Presenter listener; @UiField Button button; public TopRightAViewImpl() { initWidget(binder.createAndBindUi(this)); } @Override public void setName(String name) { button.setHTML(name); } @Override public void setPresenter(Presenter listener) { this.listener = listener; } @UiHandler("button") void onButtonClick(ClickEvent event) { listener.goTo(some other place); } }

  • Android 2.1 NullPointerException with TabWidgets

    - by ninjasense
I have an issue I have not been able to figure out and it is only happening on devices running <2.1. It works fine on android 2.2. I have ansynchronous task that displays a loading dialog while it loads all the tabs. Here is the code for the TabActivity: public class OppTabsView extends TabActivity { Dialog dialog; String errorText; boolean save; final int OPP_SAVE = 0; public static boolean edited; public void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { try { super.onCreate(icicle); new DoInBackground().execute(); } catch (Exception e) { Toast.makeText(this, "Error occured. Please try again later.", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); } @Override protected void onStop() { super.onStop(); } @Override protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); } public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { menu.add(0, OPP_SAVE, 0, "Test"); return true; } public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { switch (item.getItemId()) { case OPP_SAVE: save = true; new DoInBackground().execute(); return true; } return false; } public void LoadOpp() { handler.sendEmptyMessage(0); } public void SaveOpp() { DoStuff(); } public void LoadLayout() { setContentView(R.layout.view_opptabs); /* TabHost will have Tabs */ TabHost tabHost = (TabHost) findViewById(android.R.id.tabhost); /* * TabSpec used to create a new tab. • How to add "most recent emails from this user" to Gmail inbox as a sidebar

    - by Scott B
I use and love gmail. However, since i use email for customer support, I'm always doing a cross reference lookup via the search feature to see my past conversations with the person whose email I'm reading. I'd love to have a right sidebar widget that shows me, for any email I choose to read, the list of previous conversations/emails with that person. Is this possible? I'm using Chrome Ideally, this sidebar would bump or replace the contextual ads that now display over there.

  • A good file management/hosting/storage web service with embed-function?

    - by Andreas
I am looking for a file management web service that lets me integrate the directory-view into a commercial website. Another requirement: User can register themselves, but need to be approved, before being able to download files. So something like box.net, but with more than just a a flash-widget. I would prefer some javascript, that can be embedded. Thanks for any recommendations.

  • Is it possible to toggle hidden files without relaunching Finder?

    - by Andrei
There are several ways how to toggle hidden files - via a shell command, or AppleScript, or Automator action, or even a Dashboard widget. All of them close and reopen Finder windows, which is quite annoying. On the other hand, for the Open File dialog one can easily toggle hidden files by pressing Command+Shift+Period. Is it possible to avoid relaunching Finder?

  • Windows Desktop Switchboard / Toolbar

    - by codex73
I'm researching a way to provide a somewhat custom toolbox, widget or switchboard which will reside on users desktop visible at most times for easy access to resources. Resources could be websites, local computer applications, custom api, etc. Compatibility should be Windows XP, 2008 Server, 7, Vista. Unsure if I should custom build an application with Visual Studio, Customize a Open Source Package or what could be a good simple implementation. Any advice or comments on this will be greatly appreciated.

  • Gradle + Robolectric: Where do I put the file org.robolectric.Config.properties?

    - by Rob Hawkins
I'm trying to setup a test using Robolectric to click on a menu button in this repository. Basic Robolectric tests will run, but I'm not able to run any project-specific test using resources because it says it can't find my AndroidManifest.xml. After running ../gradlew clean check, here's the standard output from the Robolectric html file: WARNING: No manifest file found at ./AndroidManifest.xml.Falling back to the Android OS resources only. To remove this warning, annotate your test class with @Config(manifest=Config.NONE). I found these instructions which indicate I should create an org.robolectric.Config.properties file, but I'm not sure where to put it. I've tried everywhere, pretty much, and despite moving the file, the path in the error message is always the same as above (./AndroidManifest.xml). This makes me think the build process has never picked up the settings in the file org.robolectric.Config.properties. I also tried the @Config(manifest="") directive but this gave me a cannot find symbol error. If I move the AndroidManifest.xml into my project directory, then I get an error about it not being able to find the path ./res/values and I wasn't able to resolve that either. Any ideas? Update 1 Thanks Eugen, I'm now using @RunWith(RobolectricGradleTestRunner.class) instead of @RunWith(RobolectricTestRunner). Now I get a different error, still occurring on the same line of my BasicTest.java KeywordList keywordList = Robolectric.buildActivity(KeywordList.class).create().get(); Below are results from the standard error, standard output, and "failed tests" tab in the Robolectric test report: Note: I also tried substituting in a jar built from the latest Robolectric updates, robolectric-2.2-SNAPSHOT.jar, but still got an error. • scorecardresearch dot com: weird tracking pixel

    - by Bobby Jack
I'm seeing very weird behaviour in relation to this domain and a tracking image. On a specific page on our site, I'm seeing a script that's being added dynamically, apparently via flash (I wasn't even aware that flash could alter the DOM ...) That script is located at: http://scorecardresearch.com/beacon.js When I request that URL, I see a 1x1 gif. Another weird point is that this domain appears to break all the web-based whois tools; entering that domain results in a 1x1 gif. This is even to the extent where, if I enter scorecardresearch.com into the Title as part of this question, GIF code appears just below it! Hence, the "dot" in the title. The only 'unusual' thing on the page is a slideshare 'widget', which is flash-based - that's why I'm concluding that flash is altering the DOM. Anyone know what is going on here? How concerned should I be?

  • GTK equivalent to MS Spy++

    - by zetah
Spy++ comes with paid version of MS Visual Studio as utility that gives you a graphical view of the system’s processes, threads, windows, and window messages. and it's not only utility on Win32 that offers this feature, but I use it as popular example. It lists all UI elements of all running applications, and user can use "Find Tool" to locate UI element of interest and get response dialog with versatile information about that object, like UI control name, text contents, and many other data of potential interest to a programmer. I'm interested in similar GTK application which can at least return GTK UI element (widget) name and extracted text contents of that element of arbitrary running process. I couldn't find anything related using Google

  • PlanetQuest and the start of a new project!

    - by TATWORTH
At the Planet Quest http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/ web site there is an interesting page on the number of planets detected around other stars. There is a link to a page at http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/widget.cfm for an applet to poll for this information. I downloaded the applet but had no wish to install it. Instead I viewed it in Notepad++ and found that it contacted http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/atlas/xml/planetstats.cfm to get data on the latest discovery. I have amedned the CommonData project and have wrote a class in that to poll for the information. I have amended the CommonData project and have wrote a class in that to poll for the information.  That class and its unit test will form the basis for a new project.

  • Is there an alternative to the default lock-screen?

    - by cheshirekow
I have a tablet PC that I'm running oneric on. One thing I don't like is that the default lock screen requires you to enter a password. Since this is a tablet, this means that it either needs to be connected to a keyboard, or I have to figure out how to get onboard to show up for the lock screen (caribou wont even start, and gok is messed up too). Even if I could do that, anyway, it's not what I want, since locking the screen is mostly to prevent erroneous input when I'm carrying it around (not for security). Are there any alternative applications for the lock screen? Anything like the plethora of android lock screens that allow you to solve puzzles or push a particular widget in a particular way to unlock the screen?

  • Fade out Label / Button / Status Bar with GTK

    - by wolfv
What is the easiest way to fade out and fade in elements in Python / GTK 3? Coming from webdevelopment, my initial take on this problem was to call c = widget.get_style_context(), c.remove_class('visible'), c.add_class('invisible') but that didn't work out (Do I have to call something like "redraw"?) I also added a transition to the GTK CSS. Thanks, Wolf EDIT: I might specify what I would like to achieve: I have this "statusbar" which is just a vertical container on my app (like in the screenshot on top of this page http://uberwriter.wolfvollprecht.de/). If the mouse is not moving, I want to fade all that stuff out (also to preserve computing power // no recalculation of word- and char count) and to minimize "distraction"). I already found the appropriate event to listen to (motion-notify-event), so now I only need to add a simple fade out and a timeout. If someone can point me to a solution, be it with clutter or cairo, I would be very happy.

  • How to Customize Fonts and Colors for Gnome Panels in Ubuntu Linux

    - by The Geek
Earlier this week we showed you how to make the Gnome Panels totally transparent, but you really need some customized fonts and colors to make the effect work better. Here’s how to do it. This article is the first part of a multi-part series on how to customize the Ubuntu desktop, written by How-To Geek reader and ubergeek, Omar Hafiz. Changing the Gnome Colors the Easy Way You’ll first need to install Gnome Color Chooser which is available in the default repositories (the package name is gnome-color-chooser). Then go to System > Preferences > Gnome Color Chooser to launch the program. When you see all these tabs you immediately know that Gnome Color Chooser does not only change the font color of the panel, but also the color of the fonts all over Ubuntu, desktop icons, and many other things as well. Now switch to the panel tab, here you can control every thing about your panels. You can change font, font color, background and background color of the panels and start menus. Tick the “Normal” option and choose the color you want for the panel font. If you want you can change the hover color of the buttons on the panel by too. A little below the color option is the font options, this includes the font, font size, and the X and Y positioning of the font. The first two options are pretty straight forward, they change the typeface and the size. The X-Padding and Y-Padding may confuse you but they are interesting, they may give a nice look for your panels by increasing the space between items on your panel like this: X-Padding:   Y-Padding:   The bottom half of the window controls the look of your start menus which is the Applications, Places, and Systems menus. You can customize them just the way you did with the panel.   Alright, this was the easy way to change the font of your panels. Changing the Gnome Theme Colors the Command-Line Way The other hard (not so hard really) way will be changing the configuration files that tell your panel how it should look like. In your Home Folder, press Ctrl+H to show the hidden files, now find the file “.gtkrc-2.0”, open it and insert this line in it. If there are any other lines in the file leave them intact. include “/home/<username>/.gnome2/panel-fontrc” Don’t forget to replace the <user_name> with you user account name. When done close and save the file. Now navigate the folder “.gnome2” from your Home Folder and create a new file and name it “panel-fontrc”. Open the file you just created with a text editor and paste the following in it: style “my_color”{fg[NORMAL] = “#FF0000”}widget “*PanelWidget*” style “my_color”widget “*PanelApplet*” style “my_color” This text will make the font red. If you want other colors you’ll need to replace the Hex value/HTML Notation (in this case #FF0000) with the value of the color you want. To get the hex value you can use GIMP, Gcolor2 witch is available in the default repositories or you can right-click on your panel > Properties > Background tab then click to choose the color you want and copy the Hex value. Don’t change any other thing in the text. When done, save and close. Now press Alt+F2 and enter “killall gnome-panel” to force it to restart or you can log out and login again. Most of you will prefer the first way of changing the font and color for it’s ease of applying and because it gives you much more options but, some may not have the ability/will to download and install a new program on their machine or have reasons of their own for not to using it, that’s why we provided the two way. • Change font programmatically for GTK3 TextView (quickly-widgets TextEditor)

    - by monotasker
In an app using PyGI and GTK3, I'm trying to let the user set the font family and size in a TextView through my app's settings dialog. In PyGI the TextView object has "set" methods for several properties, but not for font properties. I can set the font family via CSS using a CSS style provider. But I can't change that CSS dynamically to respect the font selected by a user. So how can I do this? (Note that the widget in question is actually the TextEditor from the quickly-widgets package and I'm using Quickly to build the app.) Thanks, Ian

Hi all, I'm looking at setting up a blog, and I think I want to go the static website compiler route, rather than the perhaps more conventional Wordpress route. I'm looking at using blogofile, but could use jekyll as well. These tools recommend using disqus to embed a javascript comment widget on blog posts. I'd go that route, but I'd rather host the comments myself, rather than use a third party. I could certainly write my own dirt-simple comment server, but I was wondering if anyone knew of one that already exists (of the open source variety). Thanks!

  • Disqus Comment Form Missing from Posts

    - by Saad
I decided to transition from IntenseDebate to Disqus for the blog. So I uninstalled ID via their uninstall process (you upload the template to them, they remove code, you reupload your new template onto the site). Then I went to install Disqus into the site through their Blogger widget method. The problem is that there is no comment form present on any of the blog posts' pages. For example, when you click on the 'Comments' link it jumps to #disqus-thread but there is no thread there. So is there any fix that I can do in order to make the comment form appear? I checked Disqus' knowledgebase for Blogger installation but as far as I can tell my template should be compatible.
