  • Hosted News Carousel

    - by user19240
I'm trying to add a news carousel on my OneHub site. I know there are quite a few plugins that I can use, but I'm looking for a ready-to-use hosted solution where people can log-on and manage the content, and I can simply include as an iFrame widget on our OneHub site. We would prefer to use Expression Engine, since we're using this on some of our other websites. It looks like Expression Engine + JQuery Cycle Rotator might be an option, not sure how easily I can get this onto OneHub though... WordPress has a carousel plugin as well that I'll explore. Anyhow, while I'm trying out these options, I figured I would put a question out there for any thoughts or advice, other solutions, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Alan

  • how to easy change some colors with special theme?

    - by eexp
i use AuroraMint as my themes. but some colors mess up my opera. when i use "gnome-appearance-properties-customize theme-Colors", i only can found input boxes' text color here. but i still want change background colors in email list (opera use GTK theme here). Gui give only 4 group colors here, so poor. GtkColorScheme=fg_color:#cbf6d4d4bf8c,bg_color:#311133332e14,text_color:#8713a9515723,base_color:#444f47474026,selected_fg_color:#f554ffffe666,selected_bg_color:#9797bfbf6060,tooltip_fg_color:#000000000000,tooltip_bg_color:#f5f5f5f5b5b5 i thought maybe some software can use mouse click to found out widgets under mouse point, for i does not know which widget is email list used (if i change gtkrc file).

  • How to access parent window in dialog

    - by Bruce
I am using Quickly and created the main window and a dialog. In the main window I am setting access to database (u1db) in the finish_initializing method (self.db=...). After an action I open a dialog where I need access to the database. I thought that I can use self.get_parent() in the dialog to get instance of the main window and access the database, but return value of the get_parent() is None. My question is, how can I access the instance of the parent window in the dialog or perhaps where should I place the instance of the database wrapper? Shortened code: class GuitestWindow(Window): def finish_initializing(self, builder): ... self.db = u1db.open( db_path, create=True ) def on_addaccountbutton_clicked(self, widget): dialog = NewAccountDialog.NewAccountDialog() result = dialog.run() dialog.hide()

  • Kindle Screen as Informational Display (weather, unread emails, calendar)

    - by coder543
I'm looking to create a type of homepage for my kindle like you might expect to see upon waking up (though realistically, I plan on using it as a secondary screen throughout the day) whereupon it shows you several things dividing the screen, but not being scrollable. I just want the summary to fill the screen of the web browser. It would show the weather my gmail inbox my calendar for the day maybe some tech news However, as a starting question, how would I go about embedding my gmail inbox into the page? I would love to put m.gmail.com into an iframe restricted to a certain portion of the screen, but I know that won't likely be happening. Any ideas on how to embed an email summary or the calendar? (both served by Google) I've got the weather part working via AccuWeather's embed-able widget. I was inspired by this: http://lifehacker.com/5943867/hack-a-kindle-into-a-weather-display

  • C++ developer looks for book(s) about Android apps & widgets (& services etc.) [on hold]

    - by Valmond
I'm senior C++ developer, I have also programmed professionally j2me some years. I'd like to make some apps and widgets for Android and I'd like to read up a bit on this new java stuff Android is using. I have (of course) checked out some tutorials and so but it seems I miss the basics, I can compile some stuff (read: examples) in eclipse but I just don't know how to, for example, add a service or what an 'intent' is, why my widget isn't called but successfully launches the main app when clicked and so on. So, what is a really good book for someone that is a developer but mostly need the hard facts about developing something specific like Android apps & widgets? Thanks a bunch!

  • How to elegantly work with a lot of print functions?

    - by user1824372
I'm working on a Python project that is executed on a terminal (or console) for which I am planning to implement a GUI. I did not major in CS so I really have no idea how to effectively design a terminal GUI such that: the user interface looks good in GUI, it is directed to a certain widget, let's say, a text label, or a bottom bar, or a hide-able frame. Do you have any suggestions? Currently, I am using the print function to provide essential information on STDOUT during execution, so a lot of print calls are distributed here and there in the code. I'm thinking of using macro-like variables such as 'FILE_NOT_EXISTS_MESSAGE' for printing, and all of them and their values would be defined in one file. Is that a standard way to do this? Should I introduce a logging system? In summary, I'm looking for a pattern for handling console output that is effective and adaptable.

  • Any high-level languages that can use c libraries?

    - by Isaiah
I know this question could be in vain, but it's just out of curiosity, and I'm still much a newb^^ Anyways I've been loving python for some time while learning it. My problem is obviously speed issues. I'd like to get into indie game creation, and for the short future, 2d and pygame will work. But I'd eventually like to branch into the 3d area, and python is really too slow to make anything 3d and professional. So I'm wondering if there has ever been work to create a high-level language able to import and use c libraries? I've looked at Genie and it seems to be able to use certain libraries, but I'm not sure to what extent. Will I be able to use it for openGL programing, or in a c game engine? I do know some lisp and enjoy it a lot, but there aren't a great many libraries out there for it. Which leads to the problem: I can't stand C syntax, but C has libraries galore that I could need! And game engines like irrlicht. Is there any language that can be used in place of C around C? Thanks so much guys

  • JFileChooser for directories on the Mac: how to make it not suck?

    - by Mike Hearn
The JFileChooser in "directories only" mode on the Mac has two serious, crippling problems: 1) You cannot create directories with it 2) You cannot switch drives This is rather a huge problem for my installer app. As far as I can tell, Apple provides no way around this problem, you can't even activate the non-native directory chooser ... so the only alternative is to find a free/open source pure-Java replacement widget. Does anybody know of one?

  • WebDriver with firefox-x11 on Mac

    - by binil
I am trying to run a headless test for a web application using WebDriver on Mac OS X 10.6.3. My plan is to run firefox-x11 with Xvfb, but WebDriver is unable to launch firefox-x11. My code is: System.setProperty("webdriver.firefox.bin", "/opt/local/bin/firefox-x11-devel-standalone"); WebDriver browser = new FirefoxDriver(); try { browser.get("http://google.com"); } finally { browser.close(); } but this fails with: org.openqa.selenium.WebDriverException: Unable to start firefox cleanly. Exit value: 1 Ran from: [/opt/local/bin/firefox-x11-devel-standalone, --verbose, -silent] System info: os.name: 'Mac OS X', os.arch: 'x86_64', os.version: '10.6.3', java.version: '1.6.0_17' Driver info: driver.version: firefox at org.openqa.selenium.firefox.FirefoxBinary.copeWithTheStrangenessOfTheMac(FirefoxBinary.java:200) at org.openqa.selenium.firefox.FirefoxBinary.startProfile(FirefoxBinary.java:83) at org.openqa.selenium.firefox.FirefoxBinary.clean(FirefoxBinary.java:264) at org.openqa.selenium.firefox.FirefoxLauncher.startProfile(FirefoxLauncher.java:66) at org.openqa.selenium.firefox.internal.NewProfileExtensionConnection.<init>(NewProfileExtensionConnection.java:45) at org.openqa.selenium.firefox.internal.ExtensionConnectionFactory.connectTo(ExtensionConnectionFactory.java:44) When I manually launch /opt/local/bin/firefox-x11-devel-standalone from the terminal, it seems to work fine despite some harmless errors shown. Now it proceeds further, but fails with: Caused by: org.openqa.selenium.WebDriverException: Failed to connect to binary FirefoxBinary(/opt/local/bin/firefox-x11-devel-standalone) on port 7055; process output follows: Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display "/tmp/launch-tElCRZ/org.x:0". • Cannot run Android "Camera Preview" sample

    - by noisesolo
    The sample I'm referring to is: CameraPreview. The program simply force closes upon start up. I've also tried other camera demos that have the same problem. I'm trying to run the samples on my Nexus One and the emulator with the same problem on both. I'm not even sure if the emulator should be able to run them or not. Based on LogCat, the error is: 06-08 16:39:10.483: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): java.lang.RuntimeException: Fail to connect to camera service 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.hardware.Camera.native_setup(Native Method) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.hardware.Camera.<init>(Camera.java:110) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.hardware.Camera.open(Camera.java:90) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.example.android.apis.graphics.Preview.surfaceCreated(CameraPreview.java:69) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.SurfaceView.updateWindow(SurfaceView.java:454) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.SurfaceView.dispatchDraw(SurfaceView.java:287) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1529) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1258) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6557) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.widget.FrameLayout.draw(FrameLayout.java:352) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1531) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1258) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6557) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.widget.FrameLayout.draw(FrameLayout.java:352) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.draw(PhoneWindow.java:1830) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewRoot.draw(ViewRoot.java:1349) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewRoot.performTraversals(ViewRoot.java:1114) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1633) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4363) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) All I did to try out the sample was create a new Android 2.1update1 Project, named everything according to the supplied Java file, copied the Java file from the URL to the CameraPreview.java file, then run it. Am I supposed to do anything else? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Android 2.1 GoogleMaps ItemizedOverlay ConcurrentModificationException

    - by Soumya Simanta
Hi, I cannot figure out the origin of the ConcurrentModificationException. In my activity I'm calling updateMapOverlay(). I'm also calling updateMapOverlay() inside another Thread (a TimerTask) that is invoked on regular intervals. I'm taking the appropriate locks when invoking updateMapOverlay() from both the threads. Is this problem being caused because I'm invoking updateMapOverlay from inside a non-UI thread (i.e., TimerTask). Has anyone else faced a similar issue ? private void updateMapOverlay() { this.itemizedOverlay.refreshItems(createOverlayItemsList()); List<Overlay> overlays = mapView.getOverlays(); overlays.clear(); overlays.add(cotItemizedOverlay); this.mapview.invalidate(); } Thanks. • PyGTK: Packing widgets before tabs in a gtk.Notebook

    - by Ben Ashton
Basically, what I want to do is put some buttons before the tabs in a gtk.Notebook. I tried making my own notebook type widget and it worked well, but it would have required lots more work to make it as flexible as I would like, also it wasn't as efficient. Here is a mock-up of what I'm trying to achieve: http://imagebin.ca/view/84SC0d.html Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks. Ben.

  • Widgets on Samsung Star/ Samsung Corby

    - by Rohit Desai
Hi, I just created a new widget by following a tutorial. I created a zip containing all files and renamed it to HelloWorld.wgt instead of HelloWorld.zip. I sent it to my samsung star/corby via data cable, but when I try to open the wgt file on my phone it says it can't open it, because it doesn't know the filetype. Is there a way to install widgets on a Samsung Star without using a webserver? Thanks, Rohit desai

Just curious, did I overlook somewhere in the API to display a chat bubble type image as found in the iPhone's SMS application? There's a few applications out there that use bubbles that look verbatim to the iPhone's and I'm wondering if they're using a native widget or their own image. This is also seen in the Tweetie application where the content of the tweets are.

  • ViewPager + recycling views?

    - by user291701
I'd like to create a gallery of photos that swipe left and right. At first I took a look at Gallery, but it's marked as deprecated. http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/Gallery.html We're told to try ViewPager instead. But the PagerAdapter class doesn't handle recycling of views for us (like a standard ListView), does it? http://developer.android.com/reference/android/support/v4/view/PagerAdapter.html Is it up to us to build the recycling mechanism? Thanks

Hi, I'm not familiar yet with WebOS dev (just started this weekend) but I didn't find any "MapView" widget in the reference library. Is there any way to include a WebView in my app or do I have to start the map app from my app ? Thanx.

  • pdf viewer for pyqt4 application?

    - by japs
Hi all, I'm writing a Python+Qt4 application that would ideally need to pop up a window every once in a while, to display pdf documents and allow very basic operations, namely scrolling through the different pages and printing the document. I've found the reportLab to create pdf files, but nothing about pdf viewers. Does anyone knows anything that might help. i was really hoping for the existence of something like the QWebView widget... thanks in advance to all

  • ExtJS Portal - Columns of different sizes

    - by needshelp
I need to be able to use different size columns in the ExtJS portal. For example, I want in the center region, one area which has room for one big widget, and then right below it, 2 areas for 2 smaller widgets. I keep trying to play with the columns to figure this out, but nothing seems to work. Help?

  • Android - Custom Icons in ListView

    - by Ryan
    Is there any way to place a custom icon for each group item? Like for phone I'd like to place a phone, for housing I'd like to place a house. Here is my code, but it keeps throwing a Warning and locks up on me. ListView myList = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.myList); //ExpandableListAdapter adapter = new MyExpandableListAdapter(data); List<Map<String, Object>> groupData = new ArrayList<Map<String, Object>>(); Iterator it = data.entrySet().iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { //Get the key name and value for it Map.Entry pair = (Map.Entry)it.next(); String keyName = (String) pair.getKey(); String value = pair.getValue().toString(); //Add the parents -- aka main categories Map<String, Object> curGroupMap = new HashMap<String, Object>(); groupData.add(curGroupMap); if (value == "Phone") curGroupMap.put("ICON", findViewById(R.drawable.phone)); else if (value == "Housing") curGroupMap.put("NAME", keyName); curGroupMap.put("VALUE", value); } // Set up our adapter mAdapter = new SimpleAdapter( mContext, groupData, R.layout.exp_list_parent, new String[] { "ICON", "NAME", "VALUE" }, new int[] { R.id.iconImg, R.id.rowText1, R.id.rowText2 } ); myList.setAdapter(mAdapter); The error i'm getting: 05-28 17:36:21.738: WARN/System.err(494): java.io.IOException: Is a directory 05-28 17:36:21.809: WARN/System.err(494): at org.apache.harmony.luni.platform.OSFileSystem.readImpl(Native Method) 05-28 17:36:21.838: WARN/System.err(494): at org.apache.harmony.luni.platform.OSFileSystem.read(OSFileSystem.java:158) 05-28 17:36:21.851: WARN/System.err(494): at java.io.FileInputStream.read(FileInputStream.java:319) 05-28 17:36:21.879: WARN/System.err(494): at java.io.BufferedInputStream.fillbuf(BufferedInputStream.java:183) 05-28 17:36:21.908: WARN/System.err(494): at java.io.BufferedInputStream.read(BufferedInputStream.java:346) 05-28 17:36:21.918: WARN/System.err(494): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.nativeDecodeStream(Native Method) 05-28 17:36:21.937: WARN/System.err(494): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.decodeStream(BitmapFactory.java:459) 05-28 17:36:21.948: WARN/System.err(494): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.decodeFile(BitmapFactory.java:271) 05-28 17:36:21.958: WARN/System.err(494): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.decodeFile(BitmapFactory.java:296) 05-28 17:36:21.978: WARN/System.err(494): at android.graphics.drawable.Drawable.createFromPath(Drawable.java:801) 05-28 17:36:21.988: WARN/System.err(494): at android.widget.ImageView.resolveUri(ImageView.java:501) 05-28 17:36:21.998: WARN/System.err(494): at android.widget.ImageView.setImageURI(ImageView.java:289) Thanks in advance for your help!!
