I am using the XmlSerializer instead of DataContractSerializer and targeting Framework v3.5 with VS2010 The proxy classes are generated with the following attribute for each property [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlArrayAttribute(Order=20)] How can i tell the utility to suppress generating the Order parameter?

  • ajax redirect dillema, how to get redirect URL OR how to set properties for redirect request

    First, I'm working in Google Chrome, if that helps. Here is the behavior: I send an xhr request via jquery to a remote site (this is a chrome Extension, and I've set all of the cross-site settings...): $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType : "text/xml", url: some_url, data: some_xml, username: user, password: pass, success: function(data,status,xhr){ alert(data); }, error: function(xhr, status, error){ alert(xhr.status); } }); The URL that is being set returns a 302 (this is expected), and Chrome follows the redirect (also expected). The new URL returns a prompt for credentials, which are not being pulled from the original request, so Chrome shows a login dialog. If I put in the original credentials, I get back a response about invalid request sent (it's a valid HTTP request -- 200 -- the remote server just doesn't like one of the headers). When viewing the developer window in Chrome, there are two requests sent. The first is to the original URL with all settings set in the ajax request. The second is to the redirect URL, with a method of "GET", nothing from the "POST" field, and no credentials. I am at a loss as to what I can do. I either need to: Get the redirect URL so I can send a second request (xhr.getResponseHeader("Location") does NOT work), Have the new redirect request preserver the settings from the original request, or Get the final URL that the error came from so I can send another request. Ideally I don't want the user to have to put in their credentials a second time in this dialog box, but I'll take what I can get if I can just get the final URL.

  • Custom Fill Property on PathGeometry in Silverlight

    I've been looking at (and getting confused by) Dependency Properties - I'm not sure if this is what I need or if there is something else. I'm looking to something very specific with <Path.Data/> children in Silverlight, in particular <PathGeometry/>, <EllipseGeometry/>, etc. While the <Path/> element has a .Fill property, I'd like to add a .Fill property to any of it's Geometries, meaning it's a different color from it's parent. It could be a <SolidColorBrush/> or <LinearGradientBrush/> color, or a percentage of the parent color (like 20% darker than <Path.Fill/>. Is this possible? Is this a dependency property? How would <RectangleGeometry/>, for example, know that I am trying to fill it with a color? How would I get started? (adding WPF as a tag too as someone who knows WPF may be able to help)

  • ASP.NET MVC model binding with nested child models and PartialViews

    I have a model called Page, which has a property called Content of type EditableContent. EditableContent have SidebarLeft and SidebarRight (type TemplateSection). I want to edit the Page instance, in my Edit.aspx view. Because EditableContent is also attached to other models, I have a PartialView called ContentEditor.ascx that is strongly typed and takes an instance of EditableContent and renders it. The rendering part all works fine, but when I post - everything inside my ContentEditor is not binded - which means that Page.Content is null. On the PartialView, I use the strongly typed Html Helpers to do this: <%= Html.HiddenFor(m => m.TemplateId) %> And so on. But because the input elements on the form, rendered by ContentEditor.ascx, does not get the "Content" prefix to its id attribute - the values are not binded to Page. So to overcome this, I've definitely done the wrong thing. Used loosely typed Html Helpers instead: <%= Html.Hidden("Content.TemplateId", Model.TemplateId) %> And when I'm dealing with a property that is a List of something it gets very ugly. I then have to render collection indexes manually... doh What am I missing here? A BindPrefix in the controller action that the Form is being posted to? Should I put both Page and EditableContent as parameters to the controller action: public ActionResult Edit(Page page, EditableContent content) { ... } Any help is much appreciated!

  • Load CoreData objects' string property into UIPickerView

    Hello Currently I have an entity named "Events" in a CoreData app. "Events" has one string property named "eventName". In the -(void)viewDidLoad I am trying to Fetch all the "Events" objects and load their "eventName" by alphabetical order into a UIPickerView. The ultimate end goal is through the use of a textField, buttons and the pickerView being add new objects in and remove unwanted objects out. Basically turning the UIPickerView into a UITableView. Currently I am able to save objects to the CoreData store, but am not able to pull them/their properties out into the UIPickerView. I am willing and able to share the project source code to anyone who wants it, or is willing to look at it to help out. thanks Chris

  • jQuery — Nested Sortables Plugin — Disabling sortability between parents

    I've got a question that I think is simple but I've not been able to figure it out. This is in regard to this plugin: http://mjsarfatti.com/sandbox/nestedSortable/ Essentially, I want to disable the ability to sort children outside of their parents. So, I've got this: CATEGORY 1 ITEM 1.1 ITEM 1.2 ITEM 1.3 CATEGORY 2 ITEM 2.1 ITEM 2.2 ITEM 2.3 So, I'd like to provide the ability for users to sort the children within their category, and the ability to sort the categories themselves. But I want to disable the ability to move a child to another parent. (e.g. ITEM 1.1 cannot be moved to CATEGORY 2). And also I would like to disable the abilty to nest any parents in any children. I tried setting it so that the 'nestedSortable' function is called for every new OL but that simple disables sorting for everything entirely. Thanks for any help.

  • How can I dynamically access user control properties?

    Im trying to create a "user control menu" where links to a page's usercontrols are placed at the top of the page. This will allow me to put several usercontrols on a page and allow the user to jump to that section of the page without scrolling so much. In order to do this, I put each usercontrol in a folder (usercontrols) and gave each control a Description property (<%@ Control Language="C#" Description = "Vehicles" .... %>). My question is how can I access this description dynamically? I want to use this description as the link in my menu. So far, I have a foreach on my page that looks in the ControlCollection for a control that is of the ASP.usercontrols type. If it is I would assume that I could access its attributes and grab that description property. How can I do this? (Im also open to a better way to achieve my "user control menu", but maybe thats another question.) Should I use ((System.Web.UI.UserControl)mydynamiccontrol).Attributes.Keys?

  • ASP.NET MVC Get a list of users with particular profile properties

    Hi, I'm using ASP.NET MVC 1 and I have added a custom Profile class using the WebProfile Builder VS add-in (found here: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/WebProfileBuilder/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=980). On one of my forms I want a drop-down list of all users who share a specific profile value in common. I can see that I can get a list of all users using: Membership.GetAllUsers() However I cannot see how to get all users who have a specific profile value, which in my case is CellId. Am I approaching this in the right way? I have used membership roles to define which users are administrators etc, but profiles seems like the right place to group users. Any pointers both in specifics of how to access the user list but also comments on whether am I pursuing the right avenue here would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Sam

  • Nested/Child TransactionScope Rollback

    I am trying to nest TransactionScopes (.net 4.0) as you would nest Transactions in SQL Server, however it looks like they operate differently. I want my child transactions to be able to rollback if they fail, but allow the parent transaction to decide whether to commit/rollback the whole operation. A greatly simplified example of what I am trying to do: static void Main(string[] args) { using(var scope = new TransactionScope()) // Trn A { // Insert Data A DoWork(true); DoWork(false); // Rollback or Commit } } // This class is a few layers down static void DoWork(bool fail) { using(var scope = new TransactionScope()) // Trn B { // Update Data A if(!fail) { scope.Complete(); } } } I can't use the Suppress or RequiresNew options as Trn B relies on data inserted by Trn A. If I do use those options, Trn B is blocked by Trn A. Any ideas how I would get it to work, or if it is even possible using the System.Transactions namespace? Thanks

    I was looking at the canonical bad fibonacci algorithm the other day: public static int fib(int n) { // Base Case if (n < 2) return 1; else return fib(n-1) + fib(n-2); } I made the interesting observation. When you call fib(n), then for k between 1 and n fib(k) is called precisely fib(n-k+1) times (or fib(n-k) depending on your definition of fib(0) ). Also, fib(0) is called fib(n-k-1) times. This then allows me to find that in fib(100) there are exactly 708449696358523830149 calls to the fib function. Are there other interesting observations on this function you know of?

    Hello All, Attempting to use XStream's JavaBeanConverter and running into an issue. Most likely I'm missng something simple, or not understanding XStream's converter handling well enough. @XStreamAlias("test") public class TestObject { private String foo; public String getFoo() { return foo; } public void setFoo(String foo) { this.foo = foo; } } public void test() throws Exception { XStream x = new XStream(new XppDriver()); x.autodetectAnnotations(true); x.processAnnotations(TestObject.class); x.registerConverter(new JavaBeanConverter(x.getMapper())); TestObject o = new TestObject(); o.setFoo("bar"); String xml = x.toXML(o); System.out.println(xml); /* Expecting... <test> <foo>bar</foo> </test> But instead getting... <test> <foo/> </test> */ } I tried adding a trace on the TestObject.getFoo() method and it appears it is being called by XStream, but the data isn't being written to the output stream. After looking at the source for JavaBeanConverter, it looks like my implementation should work, which leads me to believe I haven't configured something correctly during the XStream setup. Am I just missing something simple? Thanks!     Let's say I have a model like this: create_table :ninjas do |t| t.string name end And the Ninja class with an extra property: class Ninja < ActiveRecord::Base def honorific "#{name}san" end end And in my controller I just want to render it to XML: def show render :xml => Ninja.find(params[:id]) end The honorific part isn't rendered. That makes sense, since it's just a method, but is there a way of tricking it? I'm totally up for answers to the effect of, "You're doing this totally wrong." I'll just add that I really do want to calculate the honorific on the fly, and not, like, store it in the database or something.

My code block is below and I can get this working to display say each result on the XML file, but I am having trouble because each section can have MORE THAN ONE and im trying to print ALL grades that belong to ONE STUDENT.     Tables: Article, Author, Comment (1 article and 1 author can have * comments) In the database is 1 article, 1 author and 1 comment. The problem is, that code myBD my_bd = new myBD(); var articles = by_bd.Article; works OK, I can see that an Author and an Article has 1 comment. But that code var comm = (from u in my_bd.Comment where ...... select u); returns the comment but it has NULL values in property Article and Author. Why ?
