• VS2010 / Code Analysis: Turn off a rule for a project without custom ruleset....

  ...any change? The scenario is this: For our company we develop a standard how code should look. This will be the MS full rule set as it looks now. For some specific projects we may want to turn off specific rules. Simply because for a specific project this is a "known exception". Example? CA1026 - while perfectly ok in most cases, there are 1-2 specific libraries we dont want to change those. We also want to avoid having a custom rule set. OTOH putting in a suppress attribute on every occurance gets pretty convoluted pretty fast. Any way to turn off a code analysis warning for a complete assembly without a custom rule set? We rather have that in a specific file (GlobalSuppressions.cs) than in a rule set for maintenance reasons, and to be more explicit ;)

  I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to change grey highlight color in the screenshot below to something that will make the text a little more legible. Does anyone know what the "Display Item" name is that I need to change? To get to the "theme editor" select Tools = Options = Environment = Fonts and Colors. I can't find what to edit. • Android color picker - updating color array

  Hi all, I'm trying to create a color picker for Android that looks like a minimalistic version of Gimp's. So, it has a hue slider and a rectangle with saturation/value variants of a color chosen in hue slider. Question: what is the best way to create the rectangle? Right now, I'm creating an 200x200 array of pixels, but it takes ~5sec to create and display rectangle with that array. And I need colors in rectangle to change whenever I change the value in hue slider... Rectangle is bitmap, btw. Can I use color matrices on that and how? Any examples? Thanks in advance!

  I have a section of code that is producing pour performance and not working as expected. it utilizes the SVProgressHUD from the following github repository at https://github.com/samvermette/SVProgressHUD. I want to have a progress hud displayed before the synchronous request and then dismissed after the request has finished. It displays immediately after the synchronous request happens, unfortunatly this is also when it is dismissed. The behaviour displayed to the user is that the app hangs, waits for the synchronous request to finish, quickly flashes the HUB and then becomes responsive again. How can I fix this issue? I want the SVProgressHUB to be displayed during this hang time, how can I do this?

  That is, in Mercurial, if Peter cloned from me by hg clone c:\mycode into his e:\code let's say there is a file code.txt and it contains the text the code is 7 Now, when I change it to the code is 11 and hg commit, then he can get my code using hg pull and hg update. Now his version says the code is 11 But if I decide the change was wrong and hg rollback, then my repository should have the 7 version, while the working directory should have the 11 version. So when Peter does an hg pull and hg update, he should be sync'ed up to my current repository, which is the 7, but I found that it is not the case -- he still gets the 11 version. Why is that? Can he get the rolled back code (the 7)? Does Git behave the same way too?

• Force sharepoint to ask for authentication

  Is there a way to force sharepoint 2010 to popup the dialog to ask the user for a username and password and not use the computers logged in user, if that user doesn't have access. We need an internal sharepoint website to not use the windows credentials, since these are computers used by many people. The windows user doesn't have access to the site, so currently it shows an access denied, click here to log in as another user. We would prefer if it just asked for credentials in a more graceful manner.

• Oracle JDBC connection exception in Solaris but not Windows?

  I have some Java code that connects to an Oracle database using DriverManager.getConnection(). It works just fine on my Windows XP machine. However, when running the same code on a Solaris machine, I get the following exception. Both machines can reach the database machine on the network. I have included the Oracle trace logs.   Hi, I'm porting an application with EJBs 2.1 from Weblogic9 to JBoss AS5. I have made some of the changes like adding jboss.xml descriptors to EJBs and fixing application.xml of the EAR, but there are still problems when deploying the EAR.   I have a tab bar application that contains navigation views in 2 of its tabs. I would like 1 view in the 1 navigation controller to allow landscape view but because of the nav bar in tab bar limitation I now have to allow landscape views for every single view in my app to make the tilt messages get passed to my app which I don't want. I thought perhaps, on the views which shouldn't go to landscape, that there might be ways to either: prevent the view change e.g. calling setOrientation:UIDeviceOrientationPortrait whenever the device goes landscape or giving the illusion that the view doesn't change e.g. presenting a modal portrait view over the rotated view Anybody have any ideas or experience that they care to share? What is the best approach here? (I don't want to now have to design a landscape view for every view just to so that I can display a portrait & landscape view for 1 view)

• MessageBox doesn't show on mdi form after a long calculation

  Hello This is a very similar problem to This one, sadly that one was never answered either. I have a MDI Main forum that hosts several children forms. One of them does a long calculation and throws an exception if an error occurs (all work is done on the same thread). I then try to inform the user of an error with an messagebox, however it doesn't appear (but steals focus from the MDI Main, so the application is completely unresponsive). The beheviour changes slightly if I call Application.DoEvents() (evil I know, but this is a last resort thing). Then the forms remain completely active and the messagebox only appears after I change active application (Alt+Tab) to something else and then back again. What can I do to make sure the messagebox will be visible? I have already tried passing both, active child and MDI Main as parameter to the MessageBox.Show method. It doesn't change the behaviour.

  Hello, I am writing large WORD2007 socuments, which are often being changed. I ahve to number paragraphs with stationary unique unmbers, that will not change while changing the documents. The numbers should be unique, and will not change even if previous numbers are deleted. The order of the list is not mandatory, and addition of a new number before existing numbers is possible (for instance: the sequence 1, 4, 3 means that paragraphs 1-3 were written, then #2 was deleted, then #5 was added. #3 was not affected by the later editing) The mechanism should be internal to the document, as I am working on line and off line. The numbers are allocated to every document indovidually. Since I don't know to program under WORD, I'd appreciate getting complete solution. REgards Ganish

• Rails: periodically use HEAD to check for page changes

  I have a Rails app implementing a game, so it's expected that a player will leave a browser open at the game page. When player Alan takes an action himself, I use AJAX requests to update the game page Alan is viewing to reflect the new state. However, when another player (Bob) takes an action, I don't have (or want) a mechanism to push the change to Alan's view. I would like Alan's page to periodically poll the Rails server to find if there have been any changes since last reload, and to reload the page (either via a whole-page GET or an AJAX call) if not. In order to play nicely with caches and proxies, I'd like to do this by issuing a periodic HTTP HEAD request, get Rails to work out the timestamp of the last change (trivially available from my DB) and respond with that in the Last-Modified header; then have the client-side act on that timestamp. How can I go about doing this?

• Best practice for controlling a busy GUI

• TextView defined in main.xml - how to "name" it to be able to use - setText() method?

  Hi, I am exploring android and developement and I found one problem. My app UI is defined in main.xml I have 2 texts and 2 buttons defined - easy app. I read that I may be able to change TEXT in the ACTIVITY using the setText() method. And thats the problem - how do I POINT the setText() Method? How do I tell it to change a specified text? If I would declare the TextView inside the Activity with NEW TextView NAME Object, I would just need to use NAME.setText(STRING)... But I didnt so i dont have anything like NAME of the object? How can this be done? I read something about r.IDs but I truly dont have a idea how to use them, where to find them and how to implement it .... Please advise Thank you Oliver
