  i plan to use neurodotnet for my phd thesis, but before that i just want to build some small solutions to get used to the dll structure. the first problem that i want to model using backward propagation is height-weight ratio. I have some height and weight data, i want to train my NN so that if i put in some weight then i should get correct height as a output. i have 1 input 1 hidden and 1 output layer. Now here is first of many things i cant get around :) 1. my height data is in form of 1.422, 1.5422 ... etc and the corresponding weight data is 90 95, but the NN takes the input as 0/1 or -1/1 and given the output in the same range. how to address this problem

  ImageScience is cool and light. I am using it in my sinatra app. But I can't understand how can I crop image with not square form and how can I make thumbnail with two dimensions. As I found on ImageScience site: ImageScience.with_image(file) do |img| img.cropped_thumbnail(100) do |thumb| thumb.save "#{file}_cropped.png" end img.thumbnail(100) do |thumb| thumb.save "#{file}_thumb.png" end img.resize(100, 150) do |img2| img2.save "#{file}_resize.png" end end I can crop thumb and resize thumb only with ONE dimension but I want to use two, as in RMagick. For example I want to crop 100x200px box from image, or I want to make thumbnail with width or height not bigger then 300 (width) or 500 (height) pixels.

• Ruby on Rails form_remote_tag missing template

  I'm using form_remote_tag(:url => {:controller => "home", :action => "search"}, :update => "mydiv"). When I click submit on the form "mydiv" is populated with the error "Template is missing. Missing template home/search.erb in view path app/views". I've tried multiple render options in def search, but they all result in the same error. It looks like the search method is trying to use it's default render even though I'm specifying what I want. I've tried: render 'index' render :text => 'Return this from my method!' Is my url incorrect? Is it not submitting back to my home controller's search method?

  Hey Guys I am getting several errors only on IE8 running on my vista OS. On the other browsers (Chrome, FF, Safari) everything works fine. Not sure where to begin looking.   Using Microsoft Spy++, I can see that the following windows that belong to a process: Process XYZ window handles, displayed in tree form just like Spy++ gives me: A B C D E F G H I J K I can get the process, and the MainWindowHandle property points to the handle for window F. If I enumerate the child windows using I can get a list of window handles for G through K, but I can't figure out how to find the window handles for A through D. How can I enumerate windows that are not children of the handle specified by MainWindowHandle of the Process object? • Why is QProcess converting the '=' in my arguments to spaces

  I've run into a weird error with a Qt program running on Windows. The program uses QProcess to spawn a child process wit two arguments. The program and arguments passed to the QProcess::start() method are of the form: "batchfile.bat" "--option1=some_value" "--option2=some_other_value\with_a\path" For some reason by the time those options get to the batchfile for processing the equals signs have been converted to spaces and it now looks like: "batchfile.bat" "--option1 some_value" "--option2 some_other_value\with_a\path" because of this, the processing fails. Any ideas what could be causing the equal signs to be replaced by spaces? I'm using the mingw build of the QT 4.6.3 framework found on the Qt download page.

• NServiceBus is blocking when hosted in ASP.NET web application

  Hello, I created a simple web application where a search form is filled out, submit button clicked, and a message is sent with the search parameters via nServiceBus. I also have a handler in the same project that picks up the message (from the same queue). For some reason, the web server process blocks until after the message is picked up, is there any reason for this? I set a breakpoint in the message handler and it breaks before the request finishes... locking the browser until I allow the code to continue. I would expect control to return to the browser regardless of when the handler gets fired... Thanks, D.Niemeyer

• User controls do not properly fit on the screen

  Hi, My application has several controls. Like in one screen has TreeView on left side, GridView with paging in the middle and 4 buttons at right side. The controls properly appear when the form is in a maximized state, but if I minimize it the controls do not properly fit on the screen. I tried with different different tricks like table layout.. in dat I added a panel, etc... But I could not solve the problem. How can I create such type of screens which fits independently of size of my window? Thanks

  Hello fellows, what's up? :-) I have one problem and i hope you can help me with it. One friend of mine have a simple solid html website and i implemented little php; CRUD system for articles... problem i came across is placing and getting cyrillic characters from mysql database. What i want to achive is next: In the main navigation there are some separated sections, whose names, ids and item's order i want to place in mysql and than to pull names and to put each name as a link. Names are supposed to be cyrillic characters. The problem comes when i, using php mysql_fetch_assoc function, try to display names which are inserted with cyrillic characters in database row, collation of row is utf8_general_ci, and i end with ????? insted of original characters. If i submit cyrillic characters via submit form to mysql it shows something like this У. How can i solve this, thanks in advance!? :-)

• PHP check if file exists on my server, based on a full URL

  I have an app that generates invoices in the form of PDF files stored in a directory on my server. Before mailing out this invoices I'd like to make sure that the URL (not server path) which I store in my DB does indeed point to a valid PDF file. Something could have gone wrong that wrote a value to that field in the db, but for example the filename is missing; meaning the file is not in the specified directory. AFAIK file_exists just checks server paths but not URL's. I could always store the server path too, or assemble it, but I'm wondering if i can do this check based on a full http url ending with a filename? EDIT: yeah CURL occurred to me too but doesn't that seem a bit heavy for such a simple task? Perhaps I should just store the server path too.

• Intellij-Idea: Marking all files of unknown type be type: text (so that they are searchable)

  Many of my scripts etc in intellij are marked with a question mark. Then when I click on them them it prompts me: The file "bla" cannot be associated with a registered file type. Please choose one: <insert table of file choices> This would not matter except the files are not searchable (with ctrl-shift-n) until they are marked as text. This is a major problem for me. I have an enormous code base and I don't want to mark all of the unknown files as text. Is there anyway that I can do that? *(Note: I have cross posted this to the intellij form

  Im writing an ajax web app that uses Comet/Long Polling to keep the webpage up to date, and I noticed in Chrome, it treats the page as if its always loading (icon for the tab keeps spinning). I thought this was normal for Google Chrome + Ajax because even Google Wave had this behaviour. Well today I noticed that Google Wave no longer keeps the loading icon spinning, anyone know how they fixed this?   Hi all, I'm just wondering if there's any way for WPF application integrated with windows live ID? and it's actually for windows health vault [www.healthvault.com] so health vault is using windows live id or open id to login into their system. and what i gonna do is, creating wpf application (instead of web application) for health vault, so all of the login form username pass and everything is handled inside the wpf application without showing/using any internet browser. so since this's quite new for me, i hope if there's somebody ever did this before especially for health vault system that run on standalone wpf app. alright, so that's it, thank you in advance!

• How do I stall until a SharePoint List Item is Deleted with SPLongOperation?

  I have a workflow, which creates a task and deletes it after the task is edited and its useful information acquired. I created a custom edit form for the task, so I have an SPLongOperation that I can use to stall the page. This is necessary, because if I don't stall the page in some fashion, the person will see the task in the task list for the minute moment before the workflow gets to delete the task, and that is bad. So some code to stall the page until the task is fully deleted is necessary. I have currently implemented a solution for this, but I am unsatisfied with the approach. It basically is summed up to a while loop that calls SPList.GetItemById until it throws an error. Delibrately attempting to cause an error doesn't sit well with me, but I cannot think of a faster method for checking this. I'm looking for alternatives that would preferably work faster if not as fast, and preferably without relying on catching exceptions. Thank you in advance!
