  Hi guys, I have started to work on a site without url rewriting. Now, the request is to use friendly urls so i started to use Intelligencia.UrlRewriter. So no longer return "~/Site/Categorii.aspx?category=m1" but "~/Site/Categorii/m1" without beeing needed to modify its structure? I mean, i have about 30 methods like the one from the above; it would be extremely helpfull if i can be guided to use a regex at the output of the methods iso modifying the url construction... • Where would async calls make sense in an ASP.net (MVC) Web Application?

  I'm just wondering, if I have an ASP.net Web Application, either WebForms or MVC, is there any situation where doing stuff asynchronously would make sense? The Web Server already handles threading for me in that it spins up multiple threads to handle requests, and most request processing is rather simple and straight forward. I see some use for when stuff truly is a) expensive and b) can be parallelized. but these are the minority cases (at least from what I've encountered). Is there any gain from async in the simple "Read some input, do some CRUD, display some output" scenario?

• Using lock(obj) inside a recursive call

  As per my understanding a lock is not released until the runtime completes the code block of the lock(obj) ( because when the block completes it calls Monitor.Exit(obj). With this understanding i am not able to understand the reason behind the behaviour of the following code. private static string obj = ""; private static void RecurseSome(int number) { Console.WriteLine(number); lock (obj) { RecurseSome(++number); } } //Call: RecurseSome(0) //Output: 0 1 2 3...... stack overflow exception There must be some concept that i am missing.   Ok, for the last few days I have been attempting to find a method to pull a very important set of information form a table that contains what I call daily counts. I have a table that is setup as follows. person|company|prod1|prod2|prod3|gen_date Each company has more then one person, and each person can have different combination of products that they have purchased. What I have been trying to figure out is a SQL statement that will list the number of people that have bought a particular product per company. So an output similar to this: Comp ABC | 13 Prod1 | 3 Prod2 | 5 Prod 3 Comp DEF | 2 Prod1 | 15 Prod2 | 0 Prod 3 Comp HIJ | 0 Prod1 | 0 Prod2 | 7 Prod 3 Currently if a person did not select a product the value being stored is NULL. Best I have right now is 3 different statements that can produce this information if run on there own. SELECT Count(person) as puchases, company FROM Sales WHERE prod1 = '1' and gendate = '3/24/2010' Group BY company

I have the follwing example to consider: public class X { public X() { string example = "X"; new Y( ref example ); new Z( ref example ); System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine( example ); } } public class Y { public Y( ref string example ) { example += " (Updated By Y)"; } } public class Z { private string _Example; public Z( ref string example ) { this._Example = example; this._Example += " (Updated By Z)"; } } var x = new X(); When running the above code the output is: X (Updated By Y) And not: X (Updated By Y) (Updated By Z) As I had hoped. It seems that assigning a "ref parameter" to a field loses the reference. Is there any way to keep hold of the reference when assigning to a field? Thanks.

• Using a set of numbers inside a database without creating a temporary table

  I have a set of numbers and a table in a database with the id (primary key) and text (not null) columns. I would like to create a query that returns all the numbers in the set and the associated text from the table. Unfortunately not all numbers exist in the database's id column, so this won't work: select id, text from table where id in (<set of numbers>) For the non-existing ids the best would be to return null as the text from the query. Is there a way to produce the desired output without first creating a temporary table from the set inside the database? The database engine in use is a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1 but I'd be interested in any solution with any database engine.

  Hi Guys, I'm using a open-source Python library in my project. This library logs a lot of information using the logging class. ...but I can't see the output or log it to file. I know that i would have to create a logger instance and add a file-handler or a console-handler to it but how can i pass this logger instance to the class? • Why is my substitution control suddenly not working in ASP.NET 4.0?

  I just upgraded my site from ASP.NET 3.5 to 4.0. I've been working through some breaking changes (there were more than I expected). One I can't figure out, however, is why my <asp:Substitution /> control suddenly stopped working like it should. It's supposed to ignore the output cache settings of the parent page and update upon every request. For some reason that isn't happening. It's caching for the full 10 minutes (the OutputCache setting for my home page). Any ideas?

  JS_CallFunctionName can call a method of an object by name: JSObject* obj; JS_CallFunctionName(cx, obj, "doSomething", argc, vp, retVal); The code above works fine if the "doSomething" is a function declared in the prototype of the "obj". What I want to know is if there is a way to call a function that is a "class function". I tried: if(JS_HasProperty(getGlobalContext(), getGlobalObject(), "ClassToGet", &b)) { print("OK"); } and the output is "OK". But when tried: JS_GetProperty(getGlobalContext(), getGlobalObject(), "ClassToGet", &jsOwner); if (jsOwner != JSVAL_VOID) { } the jsOwner is a JSVAL_VOID. Maybe there is a function in SpiderMonkey can execute function in a JSClass ? Any suggestion will be appreciated, thanks :)

  Hello, I'm creating a new WP theme and I would like to allow the user to insert a divider in between paragraphs or images he/she is entering, for a post/page. I want the output to be something like: <div class="divider"></div> But I don't want the user to have to enter HTML in the WYSIWYG editor. • ProGuard breaks Java application - no text, no images

  I'm trying to use ProGuard to obfuscate a Java application. I'm experiencing a problem where all of my text and images disappear from the GUI (Swing) forms. I've tried disabling optimizations and including more libraries, but nothing seems to be working. I've inspected the output generated by the obfuscator with a decompiler, and my resource paths seem to still be correct. Do I need to be including more core Java libraries outside of jre/lib/rt.jar? Are there more settings I should disable? ...other suggestions? Thanks.

  I'm using cProfile to profile my Python program. Based upon this talk I was under the impression that KCacheGrind could parse and display the output from cProfile. However, when I go to import the file, KCacheGrind just displays an 'Unknown File Format' error in the status bar and sits there displaying nothing. There is a many to many relationship that has a primary key in one table that corresponds to a comma separated list in another.   I am liking the http://www.xmos.com chips but want to get a lower level understanding of what is going on. Basically assembler. I am trying to sort out something as simple as an led blinker, set the led, count to N clear the led, count to N, loop forever. Sure I can disassemble a 10 line XC program, but if you have tried that you will see there is a lot of bloat in there that is in every program, what bits are to support the compiler output and what bits are actually setting up the gpio?

  Hopefully this is a simple answer that I am just failing to understand. Full code is public static void mystery(int[] list) { for( int i = list.length - 1; i>1; i --) { if (list[i] > list[i - 1]) { list[i -1] = list[i] - 2; list[i]++; } } } } and lets say we are using a list of [2,3,4]. I know that it will output 2,2,5 but I am unclear how to actually work through it. I understand that the list.length is 3 here, and I understand that the for loop will only run once, but I am very unclear what happens at the list[i - 1] = list[i] - 2; area. Should it be list[2-1] = list[2] - 2? How does the two being outside the bracket effect it differently? Much thanks.

  I have having difficulties protecting my blackberry application persistent data with ControlledAccess object. According to http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/4.5.0api/net/rim/device/api/system/PersistentObject.html, I need a PersistentObject, CodeSignKey, and ControlledAccess objects to work. I have everything except one piece: CodeSignKey codeSigningKey = CodeSigningKey.get( "ACME" ); here, I don't know what to replace for "ACME". Is this the PIN code I chose as I filled out the Code Sign Key? Is it my package name, output file name? The Blackberry API documentation doesn't seem to say anything about this particularly important parameter. Help please, thanks.
