• Seriously, what's the deal with InheritInChildApplications? Does this work for anyone??

  I've tried wrapping my <system.web> with <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> like this <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> <system.web>...</system.web> </location> But VS 2010 Web Developer Express keeps saying "The 'InheritInChildApplications' attribute is not allowed" and when I run my web app there's an error: "HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid." Config Error Unrecognized attribute 'InheritInChildApplications'. I've seen some smartguys all over the Internet discussing this and how it is working for them but there's much larger number of people here at SO and other places that did not get this to work. • Using Image Source with big images in WPF

  I am working on an application that allows users to manipulate multiple images by using ItemsControl. I started running some tests and found that the app has problems displaying some big images - ie. it did not work with the high resolution (21600x10800), 20MB images from http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/BlueMarble/BlueMarble_monthlies.php, though it displays the 6200x6200, 60MB Hubble telescope image from http://zebu.uoregon.edu/hudf/hudf.jpg just fine. The original solution just specified an Image control with a Source property pointing at a file on a disk (through a binding). With the Blue Marble file - the image would just not show up. Now this could be just a bug hidden somewhere deep in the funky MVVM + XAML implementation - the visual tree displayed by Snoop goes like: Window/Border/AdornerDecorator/ContentPresenter/Grid/Canvas/UserControl/Border/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/Grid/Grid/Border/Grid/ContentPresenter/UserControl/UserControl/Border/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/Grid/Grid/Viewbox/ContainerVisual/UserControl/Border/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/ItemsControl/Border/ItemsPresenter/Canvas/ContentPresenter/Grid/Grid/ContentPresenter/Image... Now debug this! WPF can be crazy like that... Anyway, it turned out that if I create a simple WPF application - the images load just fine. I tried finding out the root cause, but I don't want to spend weeks on it. When you just specify a file path in Image.Source - the application actually uses less memory and works faster than if you use BitmapImage.DecodePixelWidth. Plus with Image.Source if you have multiple Image controls that point to the same image - they only use as much memory as if only one image was loaded. With the BitmapImage.DecodePixelWidth solution - each additional Image control uses more memory and each of them uses more than when just specifying Image.Source. Perhaps WPF somehow caches these images in compressed form while if you specify the decoded dimensions - it feels like you get an uncompressed image in memory, plus it takes 6 times the time (perhaps without it the scaling is done on the GPU?), plus it feels like the original high resolution image also gets loaded and takes up space. If I just scale the image down, save it to a temporary file and then use Image.Source to point at the file - it will probably work, but it will be pretty slow and it will require handling cleanup of the temporary file. If I could detect an image that does not get loaded properly - maybe I could only scale it down if I need to, but Image.ImageFailed never gets triggered. Maybe it has something to do with the video memory and this app just using more of it with the deep visual tree, opacity masks etc. Actual question: How can I load big images as quickly as Image.Source option does it, without using more memory for additional copies and additional memory for the scaled down image if I only need them at a certain resolution lower than original? Also, I don't want to keep them in memory if no Image control is using them anymore.

• How to resolve symbolic links in a shell script

  Given an absolute or relative path (in a Unix-like system), I would like to determine the full path of the target after resolving any intermediate symlinks. Bonus points for also resolving ~username notation at the same time. If the target is a directory, it might be possible to chdir() into the directory and then call getcwd(), but I really want to do this from a shell script rather than writing a C helper. Unfortunately, shells have a tendency to try to hide the existence of symlinks from the user (this is bash on OS X): $ ls -ld foo bar drwxr-xr-x 2 greg greg 68 Aug 11 22:36 bar lrwxr-xr-x 1 greg greg 3 Aug 11 22:36 foo -> bar $ cd foo $ pwd /Users/greg/tmp/foo $ What I want is a function resolve() such that when executed from the tmp directory in the above example, resolve("foo") == "/Users/greg/tmp/bar".

  i create a custom UITableViewCell and i add on the Cell a UIProgressView, because when i add a row on the UITableView i download the information from a XML data, and i want use the ProgressView to show the progress of the process, my question is, how i can detect in what index row i have to change the progress bar, and then hidden it?...what is the index path of the row just created? in the: cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath i retrieve information from my Custom UITableViewCell in this way: UILabel *label; label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:1000]; label.text = [[managedObject valueForKey:@"firstName"] description]; so how i can know the index path row of the row just added, to change then the progress bar?

Please contact your system administrator. I already have executed the build history cleanup command. but this has not done much. Can you please guide what directory under the following path I clear up to make space on disk. This Z:\TeamCity.BuildServer\system path has artifacts, caches, changes, messages directories. My problem is that bindings are not working inside the DataGrid, and I have no clue of why this isn't working. • Binding to a dictionary in Silverlight with INotifyPropertyChanged

  In silverlight, I can not get INotifyPropertyChanged to work like I want it to when binding to a dictionary. In the example below, the page binds to the dictionary okay but when I change the content of one of the textboxes the CustomProperties property setter is not called. The CustomProperties property setter is only called when CustomProperties is set and not when the values within it are set. I am trying to do some validation on the dictionary values and so am looking to run some code when each value within the dictionary is changed. Is there anything I can do here? • How to support 3-byte UTF-8 Characters in ANT

  I am trying to support UTF-8 characters in my ANT script. As long as the character string are made up of 2-byte UTF-8 characters, such as: Lògìñ Ùsèr ÌÐ Then things work fine. When I use Unicode Han Character: ? Which, according to this site: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/6211/index.htm Has a UTF-8 encoding of 0xE6 0x88 0x91 I can see in UltraEdit, my input properties file has the values "E6 88 91" all in a row, so I'm fairly confident that my input is correct. And When I open the same file in Notepad++ I can see all the characters correctly.   Hi I am trying to get RecursiveDirectoryIterator class using a extension on the FilterIterator to work but for some reason it is iterating on the root directory only. my code is this. class fileTypeFilter extends FilterIterator { public function __construct($path) { parent::__construct(new RecursiveDirectoryIterator($path)); } public function accept() { $file = $this->getInnerIterator()->current(); return preg_match('/\.php/i', $file->getFilename()); } } $it = new RecursiveDirectoryIterator('./'); $it = new fileTypeFilter($it); foreach ($it as $file) { echo $file; } my directory structure is something like this. -Dir1 --file1.php --file2.php -Dir2 --file1.php etc etc But as I said before the class is not recursively iterating over the entire directory structure and is only looking at the root. Question is, how do use a basic RescursiveDirectoryIterator to display folders and then run the FilterIterator to only show the php files in those directorys? Cheers

I really like there customization features but I am not sure how they really go about it. I read that they create an ID for every field that is required and then store the corresponding data too. Can anyone guide me as to how this is possible. For example, if I want to store an employee record. 2 fields (firstname, lastname) are already given and the user adds a third field(say DOB), how is data going to be stored?   when we bind to heterogeneous collection of objects, not all objects have the same set of properties. in the output window we get a message like: System.Windows.Data Error: 39 : BindingExpression path error: 'RoundingFactor' property not found on 'object' ''MultiLineTextMarkingScheme' (HashCode=7262386)'. BindingExpression:Path=RoundingFactor;.......... This doesn't appear to be an exception, but we are concerned it has a performance impact. Should we be concerned and create a view model that has all the properties we wish to bind to (and have the properties that dont exist on the underlying element return null) or can we just leave it. This situation often occurs in a grid scenario where there might be large numbers of these binding failures.

However, I'm unable to access an URL in the same server, and from the same host when using Axis 1.4.   We weren’t surprised to see Oracle Commerce positioned as a Leader in Forrester’s first Commerce Wave focused on B2B, released earlier this month. The reports validates much of what we’ve heard from our largest customers – the world’s largest distribution, manufacturing and high-tech customers who sell billions of dollars of goods and services to other businesses through their Web channels. More importantly, the report confirms something very important: B2B and B2C Commerce are alike… but a little different. B2B and B2C Commerce are alike… Clearly, B2C experiences have set expectations for B2B. Every B2B buyer is a consumer at home and brings the same expectations to a website selling electronic components, aftermarket parts, or MRO products. Forrester calls these rich consumer-based capabilities that help B2B customers do their jobs “table stakes”: search & navigation, promotions, cross-channel commerce and mobile: “Whether they are just beginning to sell online or are in the late stages of launching a next-generation site, B2B eCommerce operations today must: offer a customer experience standard comparable to what leading b2c sites now offer; address the growing influence that mobile devices are having in the workplace; make a qualitative and quantitative business case that drives sustained investment.” Just five years ago, many of our B2B customers’ online business comprised only 5-10% of their total revenue. Today, when we speak to those same brands, we hear about double and triple digit growth in their online channels. Many have seen the percentage of the business they perform in their web channels cross the 30-50% threshold. You can hear first-hand from several Oracle Commerce B2B customers about the success they are seeing, and what they’re trying to accomplish (Carolina Biological, Premier Farnell, DeliXL, Elsevier). This momentum is likely the reason Forrester broke out the separate B2B Commerce Wave from the B2C Wave. But a little different… Despite the similarities, there is a key and very important difference between B2C and B2B. Unlike a consumer shopping for shoes, a business shopper buying from a distributor or manufacturer is coming to the Web channel as a part of their job. So in addition to a rich, consumer-like experience this shopper expects, these B2B buyers need quoting tools and complex pricing capabilities, like eProcurement, bulk order entry, and other self-service tools such as account, contract and organization management.  Forrester also is emphasizing three additional “back-end” tools and capabilities their clients say they need to drive growth in their B2B online channels: i) product information management (PIM), which provides a single system of record for large part lists and product catalogs; ii) web content management (WCM), needed to manage large volumes of unstructured marketing information, and iii) order management systems (OMS), which manage and orchestrate the complex B2B order life cycle from quote through approval, submission to manufacturing, distribution and delivery.  We would like to expand on each of these 3 areas: As Forrester highlights, back-end PIM is definitely needed by B2B Commerce providers. Most B2B companies have made significant investments in enterprise-grade PIMs, given the importance of product data management for aggregation and syndication of content, product attribution, analytics, and handling of complex workflows. While in principle it may sound appealing to have a PIM as part of a commerce offering (especially for SMBs who have to do more with less), our customers have typically found that PIM in a commerce platform is largely redundant with what they already have in-place, and is not fully-featured or robust enough to handle the complexity of the product data sets that B2B distributors and manufacturers usually handle. To meet the PIM needs for commerce, Oracle offers enterprise PIM (Product Hub/Fusion PIM) and a robust enterprise data quality product (EDQP) integrated with the Oracle Commerce solution. These are key differentiators of our offering and these capabilities are becoming even more tightly integrated with Oracle Commerce over time. For Commerce, what customers really need is a robust product catalog and content management system for enabling business users to further enrich and ready catalog and content data to be presented and sold online.  This has been a significant area of investment in the Oracle Commerce platform , which continue to get stronger. We see this combination of capabilities as best meeting the needs of our customers for a commerce platform without adding a largely redundant, less functional PIM in the commerce front-end.   On the topic of web content management, we were pleased to see Forrester recognize Oracle’s unique functional capabilities in this area and the “unique opportunity in the market to lead the convergence of commerce and content management with the amalgamation of Oracle Commerce with WebCenter Sites (formally FatWire).” Strong content management capabilities are critical for distributors and manufacturers who are frequently serving an engineering audience coming to their websites to conduct product research in search of technical data sheets, drawings, videos and more. The convergence of content, commerce, and experience is critical for B2B brands selling online. Regarding order management, Forrester notes that many businesses use their existing back-end enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to manage order life cycles.  We hear the same from most of our B2B customers, as they already have an ERP system—if not several of them—and are not interested in yet another one.  So what do we take away from the Wave results? Forrester notes that the Oracle Commerce Platform “has always had strong B2B commerce capabilities and Oracle has an exhaustive list of B2B customers using the solution.”  What makes us excited about developing leading B2B solutions are the close relationships with our customers and the clear opportunity in the market – which we’ll address in an exciting new release in the coming months. • Defining a ContextMenu in a DataGridRow style

  I'm trying to clean up some of my xaml in my views by moving a lot of the DataGrid styles into a ResourceDictionary. One of the things I'd like to move is the ContextMenu that is bound to some commands in the ViewModel. However, when I move the context menu to the ResourceDictionary, the commands are are never firing anymore, and I can't figure out why. I've defined the ContextMenu in the DataGridRow style so that when the user right clicks on the columnheader, no ContextMenu is shown... it will only be shown they right click on a row. Am I doing something wrong here? • How to get a *.cer file to add a self-signed HTTPS certificate as trusted for Java

  I'm connecting to a HTTPS website with a self-signed certificate using a Java applet. The applet can't open the HTTPS connection - it returns the following exception: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target So the problem is that I need to add the certificate as "trusted" for Java. I read that I should use the following command: keytool -import -alias abc -file ABCCA.cer Am I correct? How do I retrieve the *.cer file? The server is running Debian 5. I'm using Windows 7 and Java 6 on the client machine.
