• Windows 7 connect to Lion file sharing

  Trying to access my Mac from a Windows 7 computer, I fail with the infamous error 86 incorrect password. Now this appears to be a well-known problem with countless threads on the internet giving as many "solutions" as there are discussion threads about it (mostly ranging from installing third-party commercial samba servers, to switching to some other protocol, to compiling a plain-vanilla Samba installation - the latter which I will probably do when I give up this :) ) I am stubborn, and I believe there must be some problem here that can be solved or worked around, but there is surprisingly little detail about this problem. It appears to have something to do with a mismatch of authentication methods. • International Dvorak keyboard doesn't trigger hot-keys

  I'm using the Engilsh-Dvorak keyboard-layout; My second keyboard language is Hebrew, which has nothing to do with Dvorak but the hot keys (e.g if I'm writing a document in Hebrew and want to make some bold text using Ctrl+b). The default Hebrew keyboard that comes with Windows (7 and below) has a shift mode which matches each Hebrew character with its matching English QWERTY character ). Obviously I'd want to use the Dvorak corresponding key rather than the QWERTY one, so I created a Hebrew-Dvorak keyboard with a software called Keyboard Layout Manager (KLM) which creates new keyboard layouts DLLs. It works just fine for the shift key, however, Ctrl-key triggered hot-keys (e.g Ctrl+l in FF) are being matched to the corresponding QWERTY key. I've examined the properly working English-Dvorak layout using KLM and in it's "Ctrl+ pressed" view, there isn't any character that's matched to any key but still I tried to encode the Hebrew Ctrl+ pressed keys to work with their matching Dvorak keys, yet it had no effect.

  Recently I updated Vagrant (v 1.6.3) and I noticed that in the folder of my project there are some new folders and files like: d20140610-11944-1j6n1cz/ d20140610-15421-1pkz3t8/ vagrant20140610-11944-p76ezc vagrant20140610-11944-p76ezc2 vagrant20140610-11944-yt3bhz vagrant20140610-11944-yt3bhz1 vagrant20140610-15421-mfqrig vagrant20140610-15421-mfqrig1 vagrant20140610-15421-y3r71a vagrant20140610-15421-y3r71a2 vagrant20140610-15421-y3r71a2.lock most of the files are empty, others have text like this: source "https://rubygems.org" source "http://gems.hashicorp.com" gem "vagrant", "= 1.6.3" group :plugins do gem "vagrant-login", nil, {} gem "vagrant-share", nil, {} end The directories have a file named config with this this info: BUNDLE_PATH: "/home/user/.vagrant.d/gems" Is this some kind of debug option? how can I disable it?

• MacBook repeatedly disconnects from Wi-Fi

  I have an early 2008-model MacBook (2.4 GHz). The Wi-Fi router I have at home is a Linksys WRT54GX2 that I have had for a few years. My MacBook has recently started disconnecting from the router every few minutes, which is rather annoying. I can reconnect again without having to restart the router or anything, as it seems that the MacBook is just dropping the connection. I have tried changing the channel on the router, and upgrading the laptop from Leopard to Snow Leopard made no difference either. I'm only about six feet from the Linksys device, so distance isn't an issue. This only happens with the Linksys router, while I can use the local library's open network without any issues.   I can access Tomcat on port 8080, but not on 8443. When I try o get there, this is the error I get in Firefox: The connection was interrupted The connection to the.fqdn.com:8443 was interrupted while the page was loading. This is my connector: <Connector port="8443" protocol="org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11NioProtocol" SSLEnabled="true" maxThreads="150" scheme="https" secure="true" clientAuth="want" sslProtocol="TLS" keystoreFile="C:\temp\keystore.jks" keystorePass="changeit"/> I have the CA key in the jre's cacerts file. The server cert was generated using EJBCA and should be signed properly. Any suggestions on what is going on?

• Cannot access any remote resource after connecting to Cisco VPN on Vista

  I have installed Cisco vpn client version 5.0.07.0290 on Vista Business SP2. I am able to successfully connnect to the vpn. But after connecting I am not able to access any resource in the vpn (like database, other computers in the network etc.). I have tried the following without any success : Older versions of the client Other vpn clients like Shrewsoft : same issue as the cisco vpn client Disabled Internet Connection Sharing service Installed the client in the root administrator account Run the installer as administrator Run the vpngui and ipsecdialer in XP compatibility mode and as administrator I am not sure how to troubleshoot this issue. Can somebody please help me in troubleshooting this issue? P.S : I've Zonealarm firewall, can that be an issue?

Turning off cached mode on Outllok clients still errors Public fiolders / System folders are fine OABINTEG detects no issues, Pfdavadmin has checked all DACL The GAL and OAB have been deleted / recreated several times (With differnt names) DCDIAG, NETDIAG, ExchangeBPA all run without error Exhausted Google links diagnosing this issue, any suggestions?

  Hi all, Just wondering if someone can assist me further with the set-up of OpenVPN on my Windows Server 2003. I have configured Win Server as per the following guide: http://tinyurl.com/kxusv and I'm now at the stage of Creating the config files. I have a few questions that I need some assistance with. My server IP is 192.168.1.10 and my routers IP address is 192.168.1.1 (the router is a Netgear DGN2000). I have edited the server.ovpn file as per the following: push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # Replace the Xs with the IP address of the DNS for your home network (usually your ISP's DNS) push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # A second DNS server if you have one to include my ISP DNS and I have not edited anything else. Now my issue is with the client1.opvpn file as per the below: client dev tap #dev-node MyTAP #If you renamed your TAP interface or have more than one TAP interface then remove the # at the beginning and change "MyTAP" to its name proto udp remote YOURHOST.dyndns.org 1194 #You will need to enter you dyndns account or static IP address here. I'm also stuck on the second part 'route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 vpn_gateway 3' Should this be the router IP which is 192.168.1.1 and the subnet is 255.255.255.0 and that is all I need to alter? The final part that I'm stuggling with is Configuring the router. Basically I have a Netgear DGN2000 and as it mentions that the router should be configured to port forward port 1194 to the server’s IP address of 192.168.1.150 all I have been able to do is in 'Firewall Rules' and on 'Inbound Services', set the Service to 'Any(ALL) and Send to LAN Server point to 1923.168.1.150. I'm not sure if this is correct? It is the following stage of the help guide that I'm struggling with and really need some help with: You need to make sure the port you configured OpenVPN to listen on is forwarded on the router to the IP address of your server. On the WRT54G, port forwarding is configured in the “Applications & Gaming” section. Enter 1194 for the port, UDP for the protocol, and 192.168.1.150 for the IP address. Make sure the entry is enabled and then save the setting. Next, you need to add an entry to the router’s Routing Table. This will enable the router to properly route requests from the clients to the TAP interface of the server. On the WRT54G you would go to the “Setup” page and then the “Advanced Routing” section. Enter the follwing info to make the entry: Enter Route Name: openVPN Destination LAN IP: 192.168.10.0 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.150 Interface: LAN & Wireless Once the info has been typed in make sure you save the setting. Can anyone possibly guide me through setting this part up with my Netgear router. I see that once I have these 2 parts complete I'm there so I would really appreciate someone walking me through what is required in completing this. Much appreciated.

• Apache Tomcat 6.0.29 startup causing Win XP SP3 reboot

  Some of our Windows XP Developer machines die (black screen - no ping) when starting up Tomcat from a console. This only happens if the Tomcat debug console window is displayed (not minimised). When minimised, the startup / run is successful. I've checked for Tomcat logs and the crash sessions produce empty (zero bytes) tomcat log files. No system logs exist and no crash dump is created even though this is enabled in the Windows settings. The machine is dual screen and another machine with the same image has the same issue. The only clue is just before the crash, one of the monitors the system reports "Cannot display video mode 1280x1024" (approximate error, didn't write it down). Is there a way I can get Windows to produce log files of this crash session? Beyond running Tomcat as a service / minimised window, how can I fix (or even investigate)?

• Raid recovery in gigabyte GA-8I945 Pro

  This was a working machine until a few days ago. And now it won't boot into the OS, during startup if makes clicking sounds (I think from one of the drives). Installed OS: Windows 2003 Web edition Hardware: Gigabyte GA-8I945P Pro , 2*160G Sata in RAID1 configuration , 2 Volumes – 25G and the rest. When I installed windows on it, during setup, I pressed F6 and used ICH7DH drivers of RAID. The manual for the MOBO says: Step 1: After the POST memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins, look for a message which says "Press to enter Configuration utility" (Figure 4). Press CTRL+ I to enter the RAID BIOS setup utility. But the machine never shows this message. BIOS SATA RAID/AHCI Mode is set to RAID. Any ideas or pointers on what I can do to recover my data? • How to enable Jetty to support cometd/reverse ajax while let it listen to port 80?

  I would like to use cometd / reverse ajax capability of Jetty 7. I tried to configure it so it listen to port 80, instead of 8080. However, according to http://jetty.mortbay.org/jetty5/faq/faq%5Fs%5F200-General%5Ft%5Fapache.html , Apache can be configured as a HTTP/1.1 proxy to pass selected request to the Jetty using the HTTP/1.1 protocol. This is simple to configure and use, but current versions of the apache mod_proxy do not support persistent connections. As far as I know, the reverse ajax in jetty is depending on continuation (I guess it is persistent connection). So how to let jetty support reverse ajax, while coexist with apache server? Thanks.

• rsync doesn't use delta transfer on first run

  I'm trying to synchronize a large local directory (with a batch file using rsync 3.0.7 on Cygwin, Windows 7 x64, 30k files, 200gb size) to a remote server (Debian x64 with kernel 2.6, rsyncd 3.0.7) over a slow internet connection (90kbyte/s upload). I know almost all files are identical and I verified that using md5sum locally and remotely. However when executing rsync from my local machine every file gets transferred completely for the first time. When I terminate the batch file after a few transfers and run it again then the already transferred files are skipped. But as soon as it gets to a file not yet transferred it uploads the file as a whole again instead of noticing that the checksum is the same locally and remotely. The batch file calling rsync looks like this (backslashes and line brakes added here for readability): c:\cygwin\bin\rsync.exe --verbose --human-readable --progress --stats \ --recursive --ignore-times --password-file pwd.txt \ /cygdrive/d/ftp/data/ \ rsync://[email protected]:33400/data/ | \ c:\cygwin\bin\tee.exe --append rsync.log I experimented using the following parameters in varying combinations but that didn't help either: --checksum --partial --partial-dir=/tmp/.rsync-partial --compress

  Hi there. I know this is hard question, and possibly not to be answered here, but if there is some article, or more you know about, please post a link. About books, its sad but many great computer books cannot be bought in my country. So, you can find many articles online, which says how memory was mapped back in pre x386 CPU. How there was explicit holes ready for MMIO BIOS, Video BIOS, etc. How there was A20 line for allowing higher memory access etc. Problem is, time changed. Today BIOSes are many times larger, and pure x86 16bit mode is used for booting and ROM flashing only. OS ignore BIOS as they access everything using drivers. And I just want to know, how it works today. I know not so specific question, but I read OS dev wiki, many articles, but all refering to days before massive usage of pure 32bit CPUs.

  I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (64bit, Server), Apache 2.2.14 Following the instruction from the oficial icinga page http://docs.icinga.org/latest/en/index.html I installed the icinga-web-1.7.1 on my machine and configured a few hosts for test purposes. The Classic Interface runs as expected but the new Web Interface does not show any data. When I try: ps aux | grep ido2db | grep -v grep I get: icinga 27425 0.0 0.0 41464 600 ? Ss Jul27 0:00 /usr/local/icinga/bin/ido2db -c /usr/local/icinga/etc/ido2db.cfg which might indicate a problem with idomod/ido2db because according to the docs there should be at least 2 processes greped. Any ideas how to fix that?

  I want to test integrity and global performances of no-ECC memory chips on a custom board Are there some tools that run under linux so I can monitor system and global temperature in the same time ? • Problem with running a flash Program from flashdrive

  Hi, I have a USB drive with two partitions in it. one hidden and the other normal. i have an application which swaps the memory and runs the flash application in hidden zone. The problem is that the application works fine on windows7 and when run on WINXp, it swaps the partitions but doesn't run the flash applications but just keeps running in the background. I can see it in task manager. But, when i copy the application to desktop and run , it runs with no glitch I was facing the same problem on WIN7 too , but it was running as required when i ran it using "Run in Xp mode" and then i applied a SHIM and is running since then as required. the application is built using VC++ 2008 , What might be the problem.

• Extract registry key from NTBackup System State backup

  A Windows Server 2003 machine died recently but I need some information that was contained in the now-defunct server's registry. I have a "System State" backup file created by the Windows Server 2003 built-in backup program (NTBackup.exe). Is there any way to extract a key/value out of the backup file? I might be able do a Win2003 install on a similar machine then do a system-state restore but that's a lot of effort and I don't know for certain that the system-state restore will work on a different spec machine. (Would it work if I booted up in 'safe mode'?) But I'd really rather just get at the data straight out of the NTBackup file zip-file-esque styles if that's possible.

• Apache .htaccess problem: No input file specified.

  Hello Everyone, Can someone help me with this. I'm feeling like I've been hitting my head against a wall for over 2 hrs now. I've got Apache 2.2.8 + PHP 5.2.6 installed on my machine and the .htacces with code below works fine, no errors. RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|css|gfx|js|swf|robots\.txt|favicon\.ico) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] The same code on my hosting provider server gives me a 404 error code and outputs only: No input file specified. index.php IS there. I know they have Apache installed (cannot find version info anywhere) and they're running PHP v5.2.8. I'm on windows xp 64-bit, they're running some Linux and php in cgi/fastcgi mode. Can anyone suggest what could be the problem? PS. if that's important that's for CodeIgniter to work with friendly URLs.

• Debian Wheezy, hostapd running but no AP detected by clients

  I've an TL-WN951N (AR5416+AR5008) using ath9k module running an hostapd and a dhcp for it. So hostapd starts fine: $ hostapd wifi.test Configuration file: wifi.test Using interface int1 with hwaddr f4:ec:38:9b:d4:93 and ssid 'test' hostapd.conf: interface=int1 driver=nl80211 ssid=test channel=1 But nobody seems to find it or being able to see it or connect to it by setting BSSID to 'test'. I'm quite frustrated now, I find 'howto' after 'howto' from people with same chipsets and it always seemed to work out great for them - but not here... iw list even shows up the AP mode being present at the interface... • Couldn't start mysql service in linux

  Iam trying to install one version of mysql in a LINUX machine. The system contain already another version of mysql installation. I prefer manual installation. Copy the exctracted tarball into a location and create symbolic link to that. I wish to install my mysql version without affecting already installed mysql version in the system. I created mysqld as service. But It couldn't start. When Iam trying to start this mysqld process, it shows an error like: Starting MySQL............................................................ ......................................... ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file (/var/lib/mysql/Test.pid). Please help me, is any wrong with my installation??? • Cannot write, format, nor erase flash drive

  I have a 4gig flash drive, which I can read from but not write on, erase, nor format in any computer (tried in 7 different computers including xp, vista, and win7). I want to erase all the data inside because it is useless. Once I erase something, it erases it and gives me an error that it can't find the file. Once I refresh the folder, the file comes back. I tried holding Shift + Del. I also tried to use the command to format it in safe mode, but it says "access denied". I don't have a write protection button or whatever it is on my flash drive. It's just a simple small 4 gig one.

• DRAC for remote OS install w/o Virtual Media

  I have a few DELL servers in a remote DC and our ISP has been very kind about doing OS installs for us. However, as we move to Production and multiple DC's I'd like to be able to do the installs/re-installs internally and DRAC Enterprise w/SDRAM seems ideal. My question is, how do you get your install ISO's on to the SDRAM? Can I just copy it from a local DVD (temp USB hookup) or FTP? What's the advantage to the SDRAM over just buying a USB dongle (to leave plugged into the server) and installing a bootable install ISO? We're a virtual org generally using DSL (2mb) connections to the DC over the Internet and using 'Virtual Media' isn't viable for us.

• Serve my website from different server during downtime

  I have a VPS server running in the cloud. Fully automated server image upgrade/downgrade(by RAM/HDD plans). The problem is that server upgrade/downgrade takes time and involves total unavailability during this period(up to 30 minutes). Goal: during this downtime server my website(http://mydomain.here) from different server with some message like "Under construction". How can I do this? -- mydomain.here is hosted on godaddy and uses its DNS(If I call it right). It's pointing with A-record to my VPS's IP address now. Change in these DNS settings will take more than 30minutes, so it's not an option. How can I find mode "dynamic" DNS? What should I learn?
