  • How to tell when an HTML textarea has been changed by Javascript

    A widget I'm using modifies an HTML textarea element. I need to know when that element has been modified and preferably I'd like to actually hide that element as well. I'm using jQuery, so I naturally tried the $('#textarea_id').change() event. But it's never triggered because I guess the textarea never loses focus. What's the best way to monitor that textarea, preferably hidden (css has display:none)? Please don't tell me setInterval...

    Is there a way to transform a partylist field like Customer in a Campaign Response to allow for multiple Contacts/Accounts/Leads? Although unsupported, I now from Jian Wang that some attributes of the lookup can be modified in the onload() event like this: crmForm.all.customer.setAttribute("lookuptypes", "1,2"); Is there a similiar attribute that would turn this into a field that allows multiple participants like the To field in an e-mail?   • Making a JQuery tooltip retrieve a new value every time the mouse moves.

    As i am developing an application that makes use of a tooltip that will display a different value when the user moves the mouse. The user mouses over a table cell and the application then generates a number, the further right the cursor moves in the cell, the higher the value increases. I have created a tooltip that runs and when the cursor mouses over the cell, it does indeed show the correct value. But, when the i move the mouse, it does not show the new value but just the older one.   • ClickableSpan on TextView in App Widget

    I have created an App Widget for Android 1.5. It uses a TextView to present a number of individual Text Links using ClickableSpans. However, the onClick event handler on the ClickableSpan is never called, it appears that you can not select individual components on the widget just the whole widget. This approach works fine for a normal app, so what I do I need to change to make this work for a widget?

    I want to create a Chrome extension that will automatically like every post I make on Facebook. My question is, how can I detect when I post something, and if that post if mine? Is there an event that occurs or something? (And just for the record, I know that these sorts of things are impossible when other apps post on my behalf, at least from an extension perspective. So I'm only concentrating on posts that I actually click the "post" button, or enter for, myself.)

    A ToolStripComboBox is placed after a ToolStripButton and is folowed by another one, which is right-aligned. How do I best set up the ToolStripComboBox to always adjust its length to fill all the space available between the preceeding and the folowing ToolStripButtons? In past I used to handle a parent resize event, calculate the new length to set based on neighboring elements coordinates and setting the new size. But now, as I am developing a new application, I wonder if there is no better way.

  • Is there a recommended approach to handle saving data in response to within-site navigation without

    Hello all, Preamble to scope my question: I have a web app (or site, this is an internal LAN site) that uses jQuery and AJAX extensively to dynamically load the content section of the UI in the browser. A user navigates the app using a navigation menu. Clicking an item in the navigation menu makes an AJAX call to php, and php then returns the content that is used to populate the central content section. One of the pages served back by php has a table form, set up like a spreadsheet, that the user enters values into. This table is always kept in sync with data in the database. So, when the table is created, is it populated with the relevant database data. Then when the user makes a change in a "cell", that change immediately is written back to the database so the table and database are always in sync. This approach was take to reassure users that the data they entered has been saved (long story...), and to alleviate them from having to click a save button of some kind. So, this always in sync idea is great, except that a user can enter a value in a cell, not take focus out of the cell, and then take any number of actions that would cause that last value to be lost: e.g. navigate to another section of the site via the navigation menu, log out of the app, close the browser, etc. End of preamble, on to the issue: I initially thought that wasn't a problem, because I would just track what data was "dirty" or not saved, and then in the onunload event I would do a final write to the database. Herein lies the rub: because of my clever (or not so clever, not sure) use of AJAX and dynamically loading the content section, the user never actually leaves the original url, or page, when the above actions are taken, with the exception of closing the browser. Therefore, the onunload event does not fire, and I am back to losing the last data again. My question, is there a recommended way to handle figuring out if a person is navigating away from a "section" of your app when content is dynamically loaded this way? I can come up with a solution I think, that involves globals and tracking the currently viewed page, but I thought I would check if there might be a more elegant solution out there, or a change I could make in my design, that would make this work.     What is the preferred method of refreshing a combo box when the data changes? If a form is open and the combo box data is already loaded, how do you refresh the contents of the combo box without the form having to be closed and reloaded? Do you have to do something on the Click event on the combo box? This would seem to be a potential slow down for the app if there is a hit to the database every time someone clicks on a combo box.
