  With gdm3, I was able to remove the last connected users from the list by removing the file '/var/log/ConsoleKit/history' With lightdm, the last users appears even when : removing /var/log/ConsoleKit/history removing /var/lib/lightdm/.cache/unity-greeter/state Where does lightdm store this list ? Edit: It seems like it's using the content from the last command. Then purging the content of the file /var/log/wtmp is sufficient to remove any previously connected user from the list : # > /var/log/wtmp But, after doing this, I have the unwanted side effect that users loging in via lightdm doesn't appears at all in this list. I must say that I'm in a enterprise network environment using NIS. Edit2: Well, it seems that lightdm uses wtmp to display recent network users list, but does not update it.   New functionality has been released for Sales and Procurement Contracts in a new patch: Contracts 12.1.3++: Patch 13877401: 12.1.3 Rollup for Oracle Contracts Core. The new functionality includes: APIs for Import of Contract Templates, Contract Expert rules, Questions and Constants: The three APIs are as follows: API for Templates, API for Rules, and API for Questions and Constants. These can be used to both create entities and update existing templates and rules. The APIs will display error and warning messages which can be processed and analyzed by the customer. Ability to Apply Multiple Templates to a Sourcing, Procurement or Sales Document: The buyer can select and add multiple templates to a quote,sales agreement document, sourcing or purchasing odcument.  All the clauses and deliverables from the new templates are synchronized with the document. The Contract Expert rules are from the original template. The buyer can also view the list of templates that are added to any sales or procurement document. Ability to Define Multi-Row Variables: You can create user defined manual variables that are tables containing one row per line or multiple rows. Contract Preview will print the variable values according to the layout defined for the variable. These variables are not available for Contract Expert Rules and Supplier. Enhancement to Suggested Sections for Clauses by Contract Expert: You can associate multiple default sections with a clause. A clause is associated with multiple values of any system variable and for each such value a section name is associated in Contracts Terms Library. • CentOS connect to the internet

  I installed CentOS, but it didn't automatically connect to the internet. Is that the normal behavior? I have Ethernet Broadband Router DI-604 and WebStar DPX2203 series Cablemodem with EMTA . What should I do to connect to the internet? Update: A cousin told me my ethernet adapter or network board will depend on my motherboard. My computer upgrade document says the motherboard is gigabyte video onboard. I heard gigabyte's network adapters are Gigabit or Realtek. In CentOS, System - Administration - Network - New - Ethernet, first, only "Other Network Board" was listed, so I selected it and clicked Next, then there wasn't Gigabit, but there was Realtek, so I selected Realtek. I heard with Net Virtua selecting dhcp the things first answered asked me to tell first answerer are automatically configured. So I tried Realtek with dhcp, but it still didn't work.

  I am trying to convert my color grading 2d lookup texture into 3d LUT. When I simply use: ColorAtlas.GetData(data); ColorAtlas3D.SetData(data); I get this: I tried building my 2d atlass horizontally but it did not helped - the data was messed up in a different way. So my question is how can I influence the order of the data I get from the 2d atlas and how can I properly pass it into my 3d atlas? Update: I know that I can GetData from a specific Rectangular area and put it into several arrays, but the result is still the same. • Website restyle, SEO migration plan?

  I am currently in a project for one of my biggest clients. We have built a website that will -replace- the old website. When it comes to actual content its is largely the same. However, the presentation of the content has changed drastically. From our point of view much more user-friendly (main reason to update the site). Now, since the sites presentation has changed we have some major changes in: HTML & CSS: To change the presentation of the content URL's: To make them better understandable (301 redirects have been taken care of and are in place) Breadcrumbs: To enhance the navigation (we have made the breadcrumbs match exactly with the url's) Pagination: This was added to enable content browsing Title tags: Added descriptive title tags to the major links and buttons. Basically all user content including meta tags have remained the same. Now since this company is rather successful and 90% of its clients come from Google's organic results I am obliged to take all necessary precautions. People tell me I need a migration plan to prevent the site being hurt in Google, but I have never worked using such a plan... ...So, based on the above. Would you consider a migration plan necessary and what precautions/actions would you recommend to prevent us being put down in our SERP positions? Many thanks in advance for your answers.

• Coarse Collision Detection in highly dynamic environment

  I'm currently working a 3D space game with A LOT of dynamic objects that are all moving (there is pretty much no static environment). I have the collision detection and resolution working just fine, but I am now trying to optimize the collision detection (which is currently O(N^2) -- linear search). I thought about multiple options, a bounding volume hierarchy, a Binary Spatial Partitioning tree, an Octree or a Grid. I however need some help with deciding what's best for my situation. A grid seems unfeasible simply due to the space requirements and cache coherence problems. Since everything is so dynamic however, it seems to be that trees aren't ideal either, since they would have to be completely rebuilt every frame. I must admit I never implemented a physics engine that required spatial partitioning, do I indeed need to rebuild the tree every frame (assuming that everything is constantly moving) or can I update the trees after integrating? Advice is much appreciated - to give some more background: You're flying a space ship in an asteroid field, and there are lots and lots of asteroids and some enemy ships, all of which shoot bullets. EDIT: I came across the "Sweep an Prune" algorithm, which seems like the right thing for my purposes. It appears like the right mixture of fast building of the data structures involved and detailed enough partitioning. • My first animation - Using SDL.NET C#

  Hi all! I'm trying to animate a player object in my 2D grid when the user clicks somewhere in the screen. I got the following 4 variables: oX (Current player position X) oY (Current player position Y) dX (Destination X) dY (Destination Y) How can I make sure the player moves in a straight line to the new XY coordinates. The way I'm doing it now is really awfull and causes the player to first move along x axis, and finally in y axis. Can someone give me some guidance with the involved math cause I'm really not sure on how to accomplish this. Thank you for your time. • How can I upgrade PHP on Windows 7?

  I am currently running Xampp for a dev server on Windows 7. It has Apache, PHP,MySQL and some other stuff all in one simple exe package for windows and works great. My version currently has PHP version 5.2.9 and the new version of Xampp comes with PHP 5.3.1 I would like to use the newer PHP but I do not want to update everything else. So how would I install the newest version of PHP in windows? Also on the Xampp page there is another extension download for Tomcat 6.0.20 I am not sure what Tomcat does can someone explain?

• Firefox being really sluggish on php.net website?

  Is it just me, or is firefox (3.5 on Ubuntu 9.10 karmic) really sluggish when opening the PHP.net website? When I have several tabs open with just the PHP.net website, and I tab up and down (with Control-PageUp/Down), it's slow to change tab. If I do it quickly, then firefox freezes for a few seconds (I know because it goes grey, which is a compiz feature to show unresponsive windows). The CPU usage also goes up when I'm tabbing to PHP.net pages. UPDATE: This appears to happen for all PHP.net webpages. For other pages, on other sites, Firefox is fine (for me).

  I cannot add an app to the list to manually set it to high performance (Radeon instead of Intel HD). When I browse for an exe, nothing happens, the list is still empty. So, maybe I can edit some .cfg or .ini? UPDATE This is NOT my screenshot... actually I've found it on the Net. The list with iexplore.exe is what I meant. When I click 'Browse' and choose any exe (Portal2.exe, for instance) nothing happens. The list is empty, so I cannot set mode for Portal2.exe.

• How do create an encrypted system with multiple Linux distributions?

  A few weeks ago I created a completely encrypted system on a notebook and must say I like the idea. It's a little bit annoying to enter the password on every boot, but it's nice to know even if I loose the computer I don't give my data to other people. With the alternate-cd it's easy to do. Now I have to setup a new system where I want to combine the new idea with my usual usage strategy. There I have more partitions: 3 system, Home, Different Data-Partitions for vm-data, photo-data and mp3-data. The background is that I prefer not to update a system. I prefer to install the new version parallel to the old system. So I can easily test it. Obviously the Data-Partitions are used for both systems. My questions is, how can I easily combine both my strategy and the crypto-approach? Or is it impossible. The way to do the crypted stuff by hand is in my eyes to complicated.

  Hi, I was upgrading Ubuntu on my server (but Ubuntu is in desktop version) when mouse and keyboard stopped working :( So the screen went black (screensaver), and now I can't do anything. I don't know what stage of upgrade it stopped working, probably now it waits for me to answer some question. Keyboard and mouse were connected by KVM, connecting them directly doesn't help. Both are on USB. What I can do, is connecting to the machine by ssh. Can I somehow see and answer questions of update system and somehow finalize process of upgrade?

• Website deployment - managing uploaded content?

  I'm a programmer by trade, "server administrator" by company necessity. We're looking at dumping the old painful "update site by FTP upload" style of deployment. Having the webserver check out the latest code base from version control into a folder and having a "current" symlink point to the latest checkout (allowing for easily stepping back to an older version by changing the symlink) seems to be the way we want to go. But I have a question: what's a good practice for dealing with user-uploaded content? This stuff isn't in version control. I have a couple of ideas for dealing with this, but what is the smart, accepted practice?

• Windows 7 "Not Responding"

  At my office we've got 2 Dell XPS M1530 laptops. Both have been running up to date installations of Windows 7 with NOD 32 Anti Virus for months now with no problems. Last week however both started freezing with "Not responding" issues every few minutes when browsing the web. It doesn't matter which browser, the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome and IE8 all do the same. After a few minutes the browser "wakes up again" but freezes again very soon. I suspect it's an OS update issue, a driver/OS conflict or something. Anybody got a solution for this?

• Move MySQL database while instance is online

  I have a MySQL instance containing a number of databases, one of which is an archive database (although using the INNODB rather than ARCHIVE storage engine) that is not queried or written to in normal operation. The data filesystem is filling up and I'd like to move the archive database's data directory to a different filesystem (and then symlink it back, obviously). If there are no SQL statements attempting to query or update the data during the move, can I safely do this while the MySQL instance and the other databases stay online and in use? I plan to rsync the database directory to the new filesystem, then rename the old one on the original filesystem to something different and create the new symlink. lsof reports that MySQL does have the .ibd files open, so presumably it would have to reopen them.

  Is it possible to do an "insert" statement through linked servers. I know it is possible by using MSDTC...but does this work between MS SQL and MYSQL? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As of right now...I can update and select between the 2 databases but it gives me an error when I try to run an insert statement. • XDMCP works for Solaris, not for RHEL

  I have some old RHEL4 servers that until recently I was able to connect to remotely with Exceed (remote desktop using XDMCP) from my windowsXP PC. My PC is connected to our network by wired LAN. Recently it seems something has changed in our network. I can still connect to all the old Solaris and HPUX servers with Exceed, but for some reason I can no longer connect to the RHEL4 servers. I assume this is some kind of "security" feature turned on in our network. Does anyone know what this might be, and how I can tell IT to re-enable it? Update: A colleague has found that he can connect (very slowly) to these RHEL4 boxes with XDMCP if he is using our VPN from home, but when he is in the office using wired LAN he cannot connect to them. So it seems that there is some kind of firewall or ???, part of our wired LAN network, that is blocking XDMCP traffic from RHEL4.

This is one of the parts which literally survived the convergence strategy between HotSpot and JRockit. With today's Java SE 7 Update 40 you can actually use it again. Java Mission Control 5.2 The former JRockit Mission Control (JRMC) is now called Java Mission Control (JMC) and is a tools suite which includes tools to monitor, manage, profile, and eliminate memory leaks in your Java application without introducing the performance overhead normally associated with tools of this type. Up to today the 5.1 version was available within the Oracle HotSpot downloads which could only be received by paying customers from the Oracle Support Website. Todays release is the first release of Java Mission Control that is bundled with the Hotspot JDK! The convergence project between JRockit and Hotspot has reached critical mass. • How do I recover from a grub renaming issue?

  I am currently dual-booting Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows 7 with grub 1.98 as the bootloader. I recently decided to edit the grub menu to remove the old Ubuntu kernels, so I followed the instructions of this guide and added the line list='version_find_latest $list' to the 10_linux file, then ran sudo update-grub. Apparently I made a mistake, because upon restart I had these bootloader entries: Ubuntu, with Linux $list Ubuntu, with Linux $list (recovery mode) Ubuntu, with Linux version_find_latest Ubuntu, with Linux version_find_latest (recovery mode) When I try to load any of these, I get a grub error along the lines of, Error: not a normal file Now I can't start any version of Ubuntu to remove the line I added. What's the best course of action to be able to use Ubuntu again? Thanks.

• Apache2 gettimeofday() keeps CPU at 100%

  I use Ubuntu 6.06.2 LTS with Server version: Apache/2.0.55; built:Aug 16 2010 18:25:39 and PHP 5.1.2 (cli) (built: Sep 16 2010 20:32:18). All my 4 Cores are constantly at 100% and the system begins to accumulate load. A restart for apache fixes the problem temporarily. I made a strace to the pid of the apache processes that keep the CPU busy. I get the following message continuously: gettimeofday({1285234145, 989639}, NULL) = 0 Do you have any ideas where this problem comes from? Thank you. UPDATE: The problem came from an application error that generated an infinite loop. Thank you all for your great help.

• Force Blank TextBox with ASP.Net MVC Html.TextBox

  I recently ran into a problem with the following scenario: I have data with a parent/child data with a one-to-many relationship from the parent to the child. I want to be able to update parent and existing child data AND add a new child record all in a single post. I don't want to create a model just to store the new values. One of the things I LOVE about MVC is how flexible it is in dealing with posted data.  If you have data that isn't in your model, you can simply use the non-strongly-typed HTML helper extensions and pass the data into your actions as parameters or use the FormCollection.  I thought this would give me the solution I was looking for.  I simply used Html.TextBox("NewChildKey") and Html.TextBox("NewChildValue") and added parameters to my action to take the new values.  So here is what my action looked like: [HttpPost] public ActionResult EditParent(int? id, string newChildKey, string newChildValue, FormCollection forms) {     Model model = ModelDataHelper.GetModel(id ?? 0);     if (model != null)     {         if (TryUpdateModel(model))         {             if (ModelState.IsValid)             {                 model = ModelDataHelper.UpdateModel(model);             }             string[] keys = forms.GetValues("ChildKey");             string[] values = forms.GetValues("ChildValue");             ModelDataHelper.UpdateChildData(id ?? 0, keys, values);             ModelDataHelper.AddChildData(id ?? 0, newChildKey, newChildValue);             model = ModelDataHelper.GetModel(id ?? 0);         }        return View(report);     }    return new EmptyResult(); } The only problem with this is that MVC is TOO smart.  Even though I am not using a model to store the new child values, MVC still passes the values back to the text boxes via the model state.  The fix for this is simple but not necessarily obvious, simply remove the data from the model state before returning the view: ModelState.Remove("NewChildKey"); ModelState.Remove("NewChildValue"); Two lines of code to save a lot of headaches.
