Hi all,
I have had a bunch of Linux based streaming servers that employed lighttpd web server to provide video streaming via port 80.
Recently, our service is very slow. Therefore, I would like to ask if there is a good software package that helps us monitor and record our bandwidth usage, lighttpd established connections, TCP sync connections, disk I/O ... over time.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Dinh
When I come home I plugin my phone into PC, and I would like to type SMS using computer keyboard, or generally navigate and control my phone using PC keyboard.
Is that possbile? Can you recommend a software?
I have purchased Windows 7 Ultimate with two DVDs 32 bit & 64 bit with one key. I wish to try 32 bit first & 64 bit later. Can i use same key for 64 bit software later on same computer?
These are my requirements:
Can support latest DirectX/OpenGL standards
Dual DVI output required
Less than $100
Does not need to excel at gaming
Does need to provide hardware acceleration for Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2010 via WPF.
Bonus points:
Supported in OSx86 land.
Quiet and low power.
I tend to lean towards nvidia because I'm used to their drivers and their software (nview, etc.)
If I make a VPN connection to a server (say myvpn.com; assume this server is not behind any router/firewall) via a TUN device and open a port (say 5555), will someone else be able to connect to me via myvpn.com:5555? If not, is there a tunneling software that does exactly this in a transparent manner? i.e. run any TCP/UDP-based server instance behind a router without NAT using another remote server.
Hello,
By luck do you know a software on Windows (Vista) which can easily split a big folder (and its contents) into several small new folders ?
notes:
the new small folders should be independent
the "file splitter" that I have already tested don't do alas the "folder splitter" job ! ;(
Example :
I have a main big folder
C:\big\ (size: about 3Go)
The result I need :
C:\big01\ (size: about 200MB)
C:\big02\ (size: about 200MB)
etc...
Thanks in advance ;)
I'm looking to find a way to update some Windows Defender settings via command line, gpo etc.
From my research it looks like windows defender creates a hidden scheduled task named 'MP Scheduled Scan', but modifying this task does not seem to make a difference as to what shows up in the Windows Defender UI.
I have also done some process monitoring to see what data Windows Defender uses and I can see that it reads/writes to the 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scan' ScheduleDay key, but if I attempt to modify this key, I get an "Error Writing the new values contents" error message.
Is it possible to update WXP using a batch script? Basically, I would like to run a batch script, which installs all important updates in the background accepting any dialog boxes which need user interaction.
EDIT 1:
I know I can enable the "Automatically download and install" option to do this, but I have about 100 computers to do, so it would be nice if it can be done via a batch file. That way, I can use the software we already have to run a batch file on all computers with a single click.
I'm searching for an application which reports that the computer is running. I imagine it in the form of two piece software. the first part, some kind of dashboard with list of active IPs, is on the server and awaits for information from remote hosts, the second part will be on clients and it will be reporting that client is working.
Do you know something like this, I'm searching for free application that is lightweight and does not require installation.
Where can I SPECIFICALLY find a place that sells TOSHIBA QOSMIO F30 videocards?
I need to replace mine for the 3rd time.
Two video cards have blown out before because I had a fault, NVIDIA video card software driver installed that they had too many compliants that it was telling the fan that keeps the video card cool to stop working. I had finally discovered why my video cards were blowing out after the 3rd time.
So again, please my people, where can i specifically find one?
What is the best way to backup windows SQL, Exchange or AD servers data to?
NAS, external USB , iSCSI or perhaps some other backup solution?
I will not however be considering cloud backup solutions due to bandwidth restrictions and cost.
Currently I find NAS devices to give the best results but clients that do not have the budget for backup software use Windows Server Backup but then they can make only 1 backup to a NAS at a time.
I am trying to set up SSH to a SCO Unix server that runs custom software that uses the function keys on the keyboard, however the keys do not appear to be in the correct format for SCO to recognise. None of the keyboard options on PuTTY work, including the SCO option.
How do I change the keycodes that SCO/bash is looking for when it wants a function key? If it helps, the system is upgrading from Wyse50 terminals.
thanks!
Has easy to use clients which will run on both Windows and Linux.
Has a server which I can run myself on Linux (preferably easy to set up).
(optional) Supports duplexed voice and video with minimal hassle.
Is open source/free software.
Is there a protocol that fulfils these requirements?
What is a good free Windows XP tool to monitor my computer's sensors such as its temperature, fan peed, and hard disk diagnostics?
I think I remember there being a British piece of software that did this, but can't find it.

I figured if I could reimage the new laptop, I wouldn't have to reinstall all the development software I install on a regular basis on every new system when I get a new contract gig and have to work on site--it takes me a day and a half to get through all of them, so I really need a better solution.
Note: I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop, and using Windows 7 Home on my laptop.
Hi,
I have installed "Damn Small Linux" on my home computer for doing C development in unix. But the distribution doesn't by default come with the C development environment and I am facing some issues when trying to install the gcc.
Is there any other small Linux distribution which by default has the required packages for the C development. And also I don't want additional software which takes up lot of space but still would like to have the graphical environment.
Thanks
Have seen some highly compressed files around.(for eg: i have seen 700mb of data compressed to around 30-50mb)
But how do you get such compressed files, I have tried using softwares like Winrar and 7Zip but have never achieved such high compression.
What are the techniques/software that allow you to compress files so well?
(P.S. I'm using Windows Xp)
Can I run 64-bit VM guests on a 32-bit host?
If I have a physical PC with 32 bit can I launch a VM that is 64 bit?
What virtual machine software (Virtual PC or VirtualBox or other) would allow this?
I read out there that VMware may support this but I am looking for something Open source or free.
Host would preferably be a Windows host but could be Linux. Guest needs to be Windows.
Thanks
Hi, in all versions of Windows we are unable to rename a file or a folder name as con unless we use a renaming software. Why a file or a folder can't be renamed as con?
I'm looking for a windows program for cataloging my DVD, video files, ebook, etc...
The program must have some retrieval of information from the internet and from the files themselves.
Also, one MUST HAVE requirement is that if a file/ebook changes location, I need to be able to change it in the software. Even better if the program allows bulk updating...
