• Manually Increasing the Amount of CPU a Java Application Uses

  I've just made a program with Eclipse that takes a really long time to execute. It's taking even longer because it's loading my CPU to 25% only (I'm assuming that is because I'm using a quad-core and the program is only using one core). Is there any way to make the program use all 4 cores to max it out? Java is supposed to be natively multi-threaded, so I don't understand why it would only use 25%.

• JavaScript function to validate an integer value

  Hello, I'm building a shopping cart and I would like to use a JavaScript function to validate user input when entering the quantity value in the quantity text input. I would like to allow the entering of integer values only (no floats, no other characters). I know that I can apply this function using onKeyUp event and also I found isNaN() function, but it returns true even for floats (which is not ok). Can you guys help me out with this one? Thanks.

  Most of the languages like C++ when writing into a file, put an EOF character even if we miss to write statements like : filestream.close However is there any way, we can put the EOF character according to our requirement, in C++, for an instance. • Debugging asp.net suddenly stops

  I have a strange error. I'm debugging an asp.net site and suddenly it stops. Visual Studio stays in debug mode and my web application stays on running just fine. I found this post on, but I don't think a background thread is causing the problem. There's even a try catch around the code where it usually stops debugging, but the catch is not triggered... Everytime I try it, it stops at a different place in the code.

So it looks like even though I'm not using threaded classes my objects will be heavier because of that?   Does anyone know of a stand-alone tool for C# code cleaning/auditing that can run outside of Visual Studio IDE so as to be part of a build. Or if that isn't possible can someone provide some guidance as to how to make Visual Studio part of a build process -- by that I mean it would be nice to run the IDE's Sort and Remove unused using statements on all files as part of the build, but even better would be an exe that can read the .sln, or .csproj and do the job as part of build system.   I use url rewriting and one of my urls is /blah/file ILLEGAL CHARS.jpg ILLEGAL CHARS are names not valid on windows such as * and may confuse servers even after escaping such as ? and /. I know i still cant save filenames as / and ? but certain characters i would like to let through. How can i give a new filename when the user right clicks and selects save as? i'm using asp.net

• Remove Chrome Loading Notification?

  I am working on a project that runs in Chrome in full-screen mode and displays data that can be edited and interacted with. It makes AJAX calls(using jQuery) frequently that cause a loading notification in the lower left-hand corner on the bottom of the screen to pop up. These notifications are distracting when you are viewing the display and I would like to remove/prevent Chrome from displaying these loading notifications at all. Is it possible to prevent these notification by any means, or perhaps even mask the javascript that causes these notifications?

  I have to solve the following: I have an Activity which's android:screenOrientation="portrait". Even though, when the device is rotated to landscape while this Activity is visible, I have to start another one, and, when the device is rotated back to portrait, I have to finish() the activity in landscape. I tried to perform this with a BroadcastReceiver, but this special activity doesn't receive any broadcasts because of the android:screenOrientation="portrait". Any help is well appreciated. Thanks.

• Can I restore a single table from a full mysql mysqldump file?

  I have a mysqldump backup of my mysql database consisting of all of our tables which is about 440 megs. I want to restore the contents of just one of the tables form the mysqldump. Is this possible? Theoretically, I could just cut out the section that rebuilds the table I want but I don't even know how to effectively edit a text document that size.

  I need to update a row with a formula based on the largest value of two DATETIME columns. I would normally do this: GREATEST(date_one, date_two) However, both columns are allowed to be NULL. I need the greatest date even when the other is NULL (of course, I expect NULL when both are NULL) and GREATEST() returns NULL when one of the columns is NULL. This seems to work: GREATEST(COALESCE(date_one, date_two), COALESCE(date_two, date_one)) But I wonder... am I missing a more straightforward method?
