  • Tracking Votes and only allowing 1 vote per member

    - by MikeAdams
    What I'm trying to do is count the votes when someone votes on a "page". I think I lost myself trying to figure out how to track when a member votes or not. I can't seem to get the code to tell when a member has voted. //Generate code ID $useXID = intval($_GET['id']); $useXrank = $_GET['rank']; //if($useXrank!=null && $useXID!=null) { $rankcheck = mysql_query('SELECT member_id,code_id FROM code_votes WHERE member_id="'.$_MEMBERINFO_ID.'" AND WHERE code_id="'.$useXID.'"'); if(!mysql_fetch_array($rankcheck) && $useXrank=="up"){ $rankset = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM code_votes WHERE member_id="'.$_MEMBERINFO_ID.'"'); $ranksetfetch = mysql_fetch_array($rankset); $rankit = htmlentities($ranksetfetch['ranking']); $rankit+="1"; mysql_query("INSERT INTO code_votes (member_id,code_id) VALUES ('$_MEMBERINFO_ID','$useXID')") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_query("UPDATE code SET ranking = '".$rankit."' WHERE ID = '".$useXID."'"); } elseif(!mysql_fetch_array($rankcheck) && $useXrank=="down"){ $rankset = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM code_votes WHERE member_id="'.$_MEMBERINFO_ID.'"'); $ranksetfetch = mysql_fetch_array($rankset); $rankit = htmlentities($ranksetfetch['ranking']); $rankit-="1"; mysql_query("INSERT INTO code_votes (member_id,code_id) VALUES ('$_MEMBERINFO_ID','$useXID')") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_query("UPDATE code SET ranking = '".$rankit."' WHERE ID = '".$useXID."'"); } // hide vote links since already voted elseif(mysql_fetch_array($rankcheck)){$voted="true";} //}

  • Zip multiple database PDF blob files

    - by Michael
    I have a database table that contains numerous PDF blob files. I am attempting to combine all of the files into a single ZIP file that I can download and then print. Please help! <?php include '../config.php'; include '../connect.php'; $session = $_GET['session']; $query = "SELECT $tbl_uploads.username, $tbl_uploads.description, $tbl_uploads.type, $tbl_uploads.size, $tbl_uploads.content, $tbl_members.session FROM $tbl_uploads LEFT JOIN $tbl_members ON $tbl_uploads.username = $tbl_members.username WHERE $tbl_members.session = '$session'"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die('Error, query failed'); $files = array(); while(list($username, $description, $type, $size, $content) = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $files[] = "$username-$description.pdf"; } $zip = new ZipArchive; $zip->open('file.zip', ZipArchive::CREATE); foreach ($files as $file) { $zip->addFile($file); } $zip->close(); header('Content-Type: application/zip'); header('Content-disposition: attachment; filename=filename.zip'); header('Content-Length: ' . filesize($zipfilename)); readfile($zipname); exit(); ?>

  • Is this a secure way to structure a mysql_query in PHP

    - by Supernovah
    I have tried and tried to achieve an SQL injection by making custom queries to the server outside of firefox. Inside the php, all variables are passed into the query in a string like this. Note, by this stage, $_POST has not been touched. mysql_query('INSERT INTO users (password, username) VALUES(' . sha1($_POST['password']) . ',' . $_POST['username'] . ')); Is that a secure way to make a change?

  • One on One table relation - is it harmful to keep relation in both tables?

    - by EBAGHAKI
    I have 2 tables that their rows have one on one relation.. For you to understand the situation, suppose there is one table with user informations and there is another table that contains a very specific informations and each user can only link to one these specific kind of informations ( suppose second table as characters ) And that character can only assign to the user who grabs it, Is it against the rules of designing clean databases to hold the relation key in both tables? User Table: user_id, name, age, character_id Character Table: character_id, shape, user_id I have to do it for performance, how do you think about it?

  • Select where a value present

    - by Roy
    First a database example: id, product_id, cat, name, value -------------------------------- 1,1,Algemeen,Processor,2 Ghz 2,1,Algemeen,Geheugen,4 GB 3,2,Algemeen,Processor,3 Ghz 4,2,Algemeen,Geheugen,4 GB 5,3,Beeldscherm,Inch,22" 6,3,Beeldscherm,Kleur,Zwart 7,3,Algemeen,Geheugen,3 GB 8,3,Algemeen,Processor,3 Ghz I want with one query to select the follow id's: 1,2,3,4,7,8 Because the cat = algemeen and the name = processor by these products. ID 5,6 are only present by product 3. So, the entry's (cat and name) which are present by all products (product_id) have to be selected. The database contains 80.000 entry's with a lot of diffrent cat's, name's and value's. Is this possible with one query or is some php necessary? How do I do this? My apologies for the bad English.

  • how to pull and display range (min-max) data for each page in pagination?

    - by Ty W
    I have a table of data that is searchable and sortable, but likely to produce hundreds or thousands of results for broad searches. Assuming the user searches for "foo" and sorts the foos in descending price order I'd like to show a quick-jump select menu like so: <option value="1">Page 1 ($25,000,000 - $1,625,000)</option> <option value="2">Page 2 ($1,600,000 - $1,095,000)</option> <option value="3">Page 3 ($1,095,000 - $815,000)</option> <option value="4">Page 4 ($799,900 - $699,000)</option> ... Is there an efficient way of querying for this information directly from the DB? I've been grabbing all of the matching records and using PHP to calculate the min and max value for each page which seems inefficient and likely to cause scaling problems. The only possible technique I've been able to come up with is some way of having a calculated variable that increments every X records (X records to a page), grouping by that, and selecting MIN/MAX for each page grouping... unfortunately I haven't been able to come up with a way to generate that variable.

  • How to convert the amount of indentation in a source code file?

    - by toby
    I find that I now often work with code bases that have different amounts of indentation. Some use 2 spaces, some use 4 space, some even use tabs! Once in a while, I have to share code between these codebases, or, sometimes I use an incorrect amount of indentation by mistake. Is there a tool or a text editor feature that will convert between different amounts of indentation?

  • SQL with codition on calculated value

    - by user619893
    I have a table with products, their amount and their price. I need to select all entries where the average price per article is between a range. My query so far: SELECT productid,AVG(SUM(price)/SUM(amount)) AS avg FROM stock WHERE avg=$from AND avg<=$to GROUP BY productid If do this, it tells me avg doesnt exist. Also i obviously need to group by because the sum and average need to be per wine

  • How do I choose what and when to cache data with ob_start rather than query the database?

    - by Tim Santeford
    I have a home page that has several independent dynamic parts. The parts consist of a list of recent news from the company, a site statistics panel, and the online status of certain employees. The recent news changes monthly, site statistics change daily, and online statuses change on a per minute bases. I would like to cache these panels so that the db is not hit on every page load. Is using ob_start() then ob_get_contents() to cache these parts to a file the correct way to do this or is there a better method in PHP5 for doing this? In asking this question I'm trying to answer these additional questions: How can I determine the correct approach for caching this data without doing extensive benchmarking? Does it make sense to cache these parts in different files and then join them together per requests or should I re-query the data and cache once per minute? I'm looking for a rule of thumb for planning pages and for situations where doing testing is not cost effective (The client is not paying enough for it I mean). Thanks!

  • Securing database keys for client-side processing

    - by danp
    I have a tree of information which is sent to the client in a JSON object. In that object, I don't want to have raw IDs which are coming from the database. I thought of making a hash of the id and a field in the object (title, for example) or a salt, but I'm worried that this might have a serious effect on processing overhead. SELECT * FROM `things` where md5(concat(id,'some salt')) = md5('1some salt'); Is there a standard practice for obscuring IDs in this kind of situation?

    I am creating a simple website . My situation is like this. After registering an user, I want to redirect the user after say 3 seconds to a main page(if the registration succeeds) . The code I have now is as below $query = "INSERT INTO Privileges VALUES('$user','$password1','$role')"; $result = mysql_query($query, $dbcon) or die('Registration Failed: ' . mysql_error()); print 'Thanks for Registering , You will be redirected shortly'; ob_start(); echo "Test"; header("Location: http://www.php.net"); ob_flush() I get the error message Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at/home/srinivasa/public_html/ThanksForRegistering.php:27) in /home/srinivasa /public_html/ThanksForRegistering.php on line 35. • Stopping users posting more than once

    - by user342391
    Before posting my form I am checking the database to see if there are any previous posts from the user. If there are previous posts then the script will kick back a message saying you have already posted. The problem is that what I am trying to achieve isn't working it all goes wrong after my else statement. It is also probable that there is an sql injection vulnerability too. Can you help??4 <?php include '../login/dbc.php'; page_protect(); $customerid = $_SESSION['user_id']; $checkid = "SELECT customerid FROM content WHERE customerid = $customerid"; if ($checkid = $customerid) {echo 'You cannot post any more entries, you have already created one';} else $sql="INSERT INTO content (customerid, weburl, title, description) VALUES ('$_POST[customerid]','$_POST[webaddress]','$_POST[pagetitle]','$_POST[pagedescription]')"; if (!mysql_query($sql)) { die('Error: ' . mysql_error()); } echo "1 record added"; ?>

  • Php random row help...

    - by Skillman
    I've created some code that will return a random row, (well, all the rows in a random order) But i'm assuming its VERY uneffiecent and is gonna be a problem in a big database... Anyone know of a better way? Here is my current code: $count3 = 1; $count4 = 1; //Civilian stuff... $query = ("SELECT * FROM `*Table Name*` ORDER BY `Id` ASC"); $result = mysql_query($query); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $count = $count + 1; $civilianid = $row['Id']; $arrayofids[$count] = $civilianid; //echo $arrayofids[$count]; } while($alldone != true) { $randomnum = (rand()%$count) + 1; //echo $randomnum . "<br>"; //echo $arrayofids[$randomnum] . "<br>"; $currentuserid = $arrayofids[$randomnum]; $count3 += 1; while($count4 < $count3) { $count4 += 1; $currentarrayid = $listdone[$count4]; //echo "<b>" . $currentarrayid . ":" . $currentuserid . "</b> "; if ($currentarrayid == $currentuserid){ $found = true; //echo " '" .$found. "' "; } } if ($found == true) { //Reset array/variables... $count4 = 1; $found = false; } else { $listdone[$count3] = $currentuserid; //echo "<u>" . $count3 .";". $listdone[$count3] . "</u> "; $query = ("SELECT * FROM `*Tablesname*` WHERE Id = '$currentuserid'"); $result = mysql_query($query); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $username = $row['Username']; echo $username . "<br>"; $count4 = 1; $amountdone += 1; if ($amountdone == $count) { //$count $alldone = true; } } } Basically it will loop until its gets an id (randomly) that hasnt been chosen yet. -So the last username could take hours :P Is this 'bad' code? :P :(

  • Migrating IBM ClearCase to TFS

    - by Bob Hardister
    Using the Team Foundation Server Integration Tools Platform. Versions: ClearCase: 7.1.1.2 Team Foundation Server: 2012 RTM Integration Tools: 2.2.20314.1 OS: Windows 2008 R2 ENT SP1 I was able to do a simple example migration of a few files by using the following approach: Using a dynamic view Creating a view shortcut drive (i.e. Z:\) Running the tools as a UI client (not as a windows service) Running the tools UI in user mode (do not “Run as Administrator”) Using the CC detailed history adapter Selecting the view shortcut drive (i.e. Z) on the Tools UI Connect to CC dialog Selecting the “Detect Changes in CC” option on the Tools UI Connect to CC dialog Changing the DisableTargetAnalysis value to True on the Tools UI configuration view I have yet to perform actual migrations for real projects, but will update this blog as I do.

  • How can I remove this query from within a loop?

    - by Chris
    I am currently designing a forum as a personal project. One of the recurring issues I've come across is database queries in loops. I've managed to avoid doing that so far by using table joins or caching of data in arrays for later use. Right now though I've come across a situation where I'm not sure how I can write the code in such a way that I can use either of those methods easily. However I'd still prefer to do at most 2 queries for this operation rather than 1 + 1 per group of forums, which so far has resulted in 5 per page. So while 5 isn't a huge number (though it will increase for each forum group I add) it's the principle that's important to me here, I do NOT want to write queries in loops What I'm doing is displaying forum index groupings (eg admin forums, user forums etc) and then each forum within that group on a single page index, it's the combination of both in one page that's causing me issue. If it had just been a single group per page, I'd use a table join and problem solved. But if I use a table join here, although I can potentially get all the data I need it'll be in one mass of results and it needs displaying properly. Here's the code (I've removed some of the html for clarity) <?php $sql= "select * from forum_groups"; //query 1 $result1 = $database->query($sql); while($group = mysql_fetch_assoc($result1)) //first loop {?> <table class="threads"> <tr> <td class="forumgroupheader"> <?php echo $group['group_name']; ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="forumgroupheader2"> <?php echo $group['group_desc']; ?> </td> </tr> </table> <table> <tr> <th class="thforum"> Forum Name</th> <th class="thforum"> Forum Decsription</th> <th class="thforum"> Last Post </th> <tr> <?php $group_id = $group['id']; $sql = "SELECT forums.id, forums.forum_group_id, forums.forum_name, forums.forum_desc, forums.visible_rank, forums.locked, forums.lock_rank, forums.topics, forums.posts, forums.last_post, forums.last_post_id, users.username FROM forums LEFT JOIN users on forums.last_post_id=users.id WHERE forum_group_id='{$group_id}'"; //query 2 $result2 = $database->query($sql); while($forum = mysql_fetch_assoc($result2)) //second loop {?> So how can I either a) write the SQL in such a way as to remove the second query from inside the loop or b) combine the results in an array either way I need to be able to access the data as an when so I can format it properly for the page output, ie within the loops still.

  • Get the sum by comparing between two tables

    - by Ismail Gunes
    I have to tables ProdBiscuit As tb and StockData As sd , I have to get the sum of the quantity in StockData (quantite) with the condition of if (sd.status0 AND sd.prodid = tb.id AND sd.matcuisine = 3) Here is my sql query SELECT tb.id, tb.nom, tb.proddate, tb.qty, tb.stockrecno FROM ProdBiscuit AS tb JOIN (SELECT id, prodid, matcuisine, status, SUM(quantite) AS rq FROM StockData) AS sd ON (tb.id = sd.prodid AND sd.status > 0 AND sd.matcuisine = 3) LIMIT 25 OFFSET @Myid This gives me no rows at all ? There is only 3 rows in ProdBiscuit and 11 rows in Stockdata and there is only 2 rows in StockData good with the condition. And as shown in the picture there is only two rows which give the condition. What is wrong in my query ? PS: The green lines on the image shows the condition in my query.

  • C# code cleaning/auditing tool (stand-alone outside of the IDE).

    - by lucidquiet
    Does anyone know of a stand-alone tool for C# code cleaning/auditing that can run outside of Visual Studio IDE so as to be part of a build. Or if that isn't possible can someone provide some guidance as to how to make Visual Studio part of a build process -- by that I mean it would be nice to run the IDE's Sort and Remove unused using statements on all files as part of the build, but even better would be an exe that can read the .sln, or .csproj and do the job as part of build system. Thanks, L-

  • Easy way to compute how close an auto_increment is to its maximum value?

    - by David M
    So yesterday we had a table that has an auto_increment PK for a smallint that reached its maximum. We had to alter the table on an emergency basis, which is definitely not how we like to roll. Is there an easy way to report on how close each auto_increment field that we use is to its maximum? The best way I can think of is to do a SHOW CREATE TABLE statement, parse out the size of the auto-incremented column, then compare that to the AUTO_INCREMENT value for the table. On the other hand, given that the schema doesn't change very often, should I store information about the columns' maximum values and get the current AUTO_INCREMENT with SHOW TABLE STATUS?
