  • CKEditor plugin: Hightlight selected text by hovering on a new item in the toolbar and selecting fro

    I'm new to the CKEditor and I'm trying to create a simple plugin. What I'm hoping to accomplish is to allow the user to highlight some text and then hover on a new item in the toolbar that drops down on mouse over a few different highlight color options for the text. For example, the user could highlight some text, hover on my new item and then select a highlight color. This will be similar to the 'BGColor' plugin except instead of opening a color palette to choose from, the user would select from a drop down of options similar to when you choose to change the font size you have a list of options such as '10', '11', '12', etc. Any help would be appreciated on how to pull this off. I was hoping to check out how 'BGColor' and 'FontSize' plugins where implemented, but I can't find these in ../ckeditor/_source/plugins. Am I looking in the right spot? Also, the link for plugins here - http://docs.cksource.com/CKEditor_3.x/Developers_Guide isn't clickable so I'm not sure if there's a place for plugin documentation that I can check out.

    Thanks for checking out my problem... I'm having trouble submitting a login form via Ajax for a php script to run and return a new set of html items which will be replacing the HTML in #userlinks.... heres what I have so far $("#login_form").submit(function() { return false; }); $('#login_button').click(function(event) { $form = $(this).parent("form"); $.post($form.attr("action"), $form.serialize(), function(data){ $('#userlinks').html(data); }); }); The php script checks for post data of username && password, yet all I'm getting is a page refresh and no changes. Nothing returns unless I turn login_button into a link and change the script a bit... Any help would be appreciated!

    This is a tall order, but is there a jQuery or Mootools (or other framework) plugin to wrap text around images and support IE6? I've tried the jQSlickWrap, but unless the browser supports HTML 5, you're out of luck. What's strange is that IE 6 supports the jQuery Background Canvas plugin, which uses the CANVAS object (via excanvas.js) just as this plugin does. Thanks.

  • Change a select list display value upon selecting description

    Hello, I would like a select list that does the following: When the select list is open, display the list of descriptions. When the user selects an item, the select list will close an only the value will be displayed. The reason for this is to conserve space as the values will be much shorter.   • Horizontally-centering an absolute position to match a relative position

    I'm trying to make a div box, containing various elements, fixed at the top of the page once the page has been scrolled so that the box would normally be out of view, but scroll normally until that point (like the behaviour at http://perldoc.perl.org/perl.html). The conditionally-fixed part is pretty simple to implement (set the position to "fixed" once the user has scrolled past a certain point, and "static" once it's scrolled back up), but I'm having trouble with the positioning and dimensions; it screws up if I'm not specifying an absolute position (if I'm using % or "auto", rather than px, em, cm, etc.) or it, confusingly, left-aligns if the box is less than the width of the page. I can understand why, more or less, I'm just trying to fix it. My strategy right now is to have an invisible DIV hold the place of the box and use Prototype's clonePosition() function to hold its position, but it doesn't seem to work for some reason. Neither does copying the margin from one element to the other. Any ideas? Bonus points and eternal gratitude if you can come up with an idea that will adjust itself with the browser window (like auto margins) without setting an onresize event.

  • All site interaction through a single page

    Hi there I have an idea for a site where there would be no refreshing and all interactions take place via AJAX. The page would load with central space, where all interaction would take place. If a user clicked on a link, the page would request it via AJAX and replace the rectangle's content with the link content. The idea is effectively an AJAX implemented iframe. Are there any disadvantages with this approach? Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on the idea?     In my program I have a table that, when loaded, has jQuery add some styles/classes to the table cells and table headers. Everything works fine until rows are added via functionality on the rest of the page. Instead of adding the classes to the table cell during addition, is it possible to "listen" or fire some event that checks to see if child elements were added to the table. Essentially, I want something functionally equivalent to this: $("#table td").live("ready", function(){ // do something }); but the live/ready won't work on a table cell... Any ideas?

  • Heading div images should be displayed at a lower depth

    I have a webpage where the top 25% of the page is the heading(with images in it) & the rest of the page has the content. I am trying to get the heading div to display is pictures at a lower depth as the content div because currently the heading images overflow into the content div(intentionally) & when they do they mess up the positioning of the HTML elements in the content div. My code below should make the heading div display below the content div but it doesn't. Can you help me figure out why & how to fix it?   • prevent hover set by the CSS

Does anyone know how to do this? due the answers i give you some more nfo: I have set the a and a:hover styles, in my CSS already. Now if JS is available on the clients machine, i want to overwrite the effect with a smoother one. (using jQuery color plugin) As mentioned by fudgey, a work around would be to set the style (using .css()) but i would have to overwrite every single effect specified in the CSS (see here: http://jsfiddle.net/raPeX/1/ ). I am looking for a generic solution.

    I'm working on a simple XML phonebook app to learn JQuery, and I can't figure out how to do something like this: When the user enters the first name of a contact in a textbox I want to find the entire record of that person. The XML looks like this: <phonebook> <person> <number> 555-5555</number> <first_name>Evelyn</first_name> <last_name>Remington</last_name> <address>Edge of the Abyss</address> <image>path/to/image</image> </person> <person> <number>+34 1 6444 333 2223230</number> <first_name>Max</first_name> <last_name>Muscle</last_name> <address>Mining Belt</address> <image>path/to/image</image> </person> </phonebook> and the best I've been able to do with the jQuery is something like this: var myXML; function searchXML(){ $.ajax({ type:"GET", url: "phonebook.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml){myXML = $("xml").find("#firstNameBox").val())} }); } What I want it to do is return the entire <person> element so I can iterate through and display all that person's information.
