  • Multitenant Self-Service Provisioning Anwendung

    Oracle Multitenant ist eine neue Datenbank-Architektur, die seit Oracle Database Version 12c zur Verfügung steht. Konsolidierungen, schnelles und vereinfachtes Patchen, Provisionieren und Klonen einer Umgebung sind nur einige Vorteile, die sich aus diesem neuen Konzept ergeben können. Die Idee dahinter ist, dass sich mehrere Datenbanken nicht nur Ressourcen wie Hauptspeicher und Hintergrundprozesse teilen, sondern auch eine gemeinsame Verwaltung ("many as one") möglich ist. Oracle Multitenant ist natürlich auch eine ideale Grundlage für "Database as a Service", weil damit eine neue Datenbank in kürzester Zeit erstellt werden.   • How to build list of items available in World of Warcraft?

    There are a number of non-Blizzard sites that show a complete list of available items in World of Warcraft (such as wowhead, etc). I would like to know the best (easiest) way to compile a similar list. I believe some sites are based on user-entered input, which I would like to avoid. Looking at the lua API, it seems that there are functions to get a list of items, but it's not clear if I can just download everything (I remember a reference to throttling somewhere, can't find it now). Does anyone have code samples that would do this, or links to source? Also, Eve Online has made a database of items available (and I do mean SQL database file for download, not the Armory) - is there anything similar for Wow? I'm just looking for the names and stats, not the graphic icons.

  • Cannot Start My System

    I have installed Ubuntu Studio 13.10 installed on my system. Today I have rebooted it and now it is not starting or booting again, the logo is seen and there appears an error message that says :- [23.755113] systemd-udevd[329]: inotify_add_watch(6, /dev/sdb, 10) failed. No such file or directory After this message the system doesn't start. I have done a boot repair through live CD, but that also doesn't helps me. Here is the link of the boot repair process.   • From the Coalface - 2 - Work as hard as you can to be as lazy as you can

    On one project, the standard build involved building the database from scratch producing a build log that was about 100,000 lines long.  Manually paging throught this log took hours and it was very easy to miss any errors. The solution was to write a filter that read the log file and output a summary file with each output line pepended with the line number in the original file. Sucessive iterations eliminated more noise lines. Diagnostic displays required escaping. The final output was just a few hundred lines long and the errors were easy to spot. The filter program took less time to to write than one manual pass reading the log file.  The utility digested the log file in about 1 second. Now database build errors could be identified quickly instead of after hours of manual examination or lengthy system testing. A few minutes consideration of the task led to a tremendous improvement in quality.

  • PCManFM problems: shuts down unexpectedly, would not always start [closed]

    In Lubuntu 12.04 beta (final release in a few days). I do not remember doing something outrageous to my PCManFM but now it has has a lot of problems: "extract here" menu action wouldn't work (this problem never disappears) the program shuts without obvious reason making the desktop empty (the program can be started in run (alt-f2) but this does not alway restore the desktop) would not start sometimes from its /usr/share/applications.desktop file (or the "Aplication Launch Bar") although it starts in run (alt-f2) (the last problem is temporarily solved if the program is closed in task manager and than restarted with alt-f2) I have reinstalled it to no avail. Any ideas?

  • juju: How do I list all the relation variables and debug them interactively?

    I'm writing a charm that requires a mysql database, I found from looking at other charms that this (below) is how I get the info about the database: user=`relation-get user` password=`relation-get password` mysqlhost=`relation-get private-address` But I just found that from reading the wordpress charm example, is there a way to show all the relation variables that I can use? Also, while debugging my db-relation-changed script, I wanted to ssh into my host and interactively run those commands, for example relation-get user, but it didn't work. I resorted to having to restart everything and use juju log to print them out. This wasted a lot of time. Is there a way to print out these relations, either from my dev box or from the instance running my charm?   • 13.10 Desktop - Stop Suspension on Lid Closure

    I'm having a problem with power management settings on my ASUS K52-F Laptop. Upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 earlier today; closing the laptop lid puts the laptop into suspension (even on AC Power - tried fixing it in gnome power settings, tried fixing it in Cinnamon power settings, tried changing it in DCONF-Editor, but no matter where I change the setting the laptop lid still suspends). After resuming from suspend, I restore to the gnome window/login manager (instead of Cinnamon login manager). Wifi doesn't reconnect, but the icon in Cinnamon shows that I'm connected. IFCONFIG shows that the interface is up and working normally, but still not reconnecting. ifconfig wlan0 down / up doesn't change anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Safest way (i.e. HTTPS, POST, PGP) to send decryption keys through the web?

    I am in the final stages of development for my Revit plugin. This plugin is programmed in C#, and distributed via a DLL. One of the DLLs is an encrypted SQLite database (with proprietary data) that is in the form of a DLL. Currently, in development stages, the decryption key for the SQLite database is hardcoded in my main DLL (the program's DLL). For distribution, since DLLs are easily decompilable, I am in need of a new method to decrypt the DLL. My solution is to send our decryption keys from our servers securely to the host's computer. I was looking in POST, thinking it was more secure than GET, but upon research, it appears it's similarly insecure, only more "obscure" than GET. I also looked into HTTPS, but Hostgator requires extra money for HTTPS use. I am in need of some advice - are there any custom solutions I can do to implement this?

  • How can I extract a list of Minecraft items and recipes?

    I'm designing a robust system for resolving item dependencies in Minecraft and to do so, I need to maintain a database of items and recipes. Right now, this database has to be hand-crafted (no pun intended); I would like to know if it is possible to somehow query the Minecraft jars (or perhaps more realistically, grep through them) to extract this data automatically. How can this be done? The project is currently in Python, but it can still be ported to Java without much fuss at this stage. (For the curious.)

  • session persisting problem after system restart

    Is there a way to prevent session id restore on startup/restart of user's system? We are using a asp.net app and I am able to login and access the site. For the first time session id is created and stored in cookies. Problem: But if I restart my system without signing out, the session is still alive. How can I prevent this? from server side. I can try to delete cookies but it is not practical, as each user will have different preferences.

  • Encrypted Ubuntu Partition HELP!

    I had Zorin 7 Encrypted. I accidentally deleted important GRUB data trying to make more room in the boot folder i think? So the computer would no longer boot up. Anyways, I installed a second Linux OS on the same laptop, but I am unable to access all of my important information that is still on the encrypted partition. When i go to mount it to access everything, it asks for the encryption password... however, it tells me the password is incorrect, which I know 100% that it is the correct password. Someone please help me! Inform me how I can access this encrypted partition or restore the data so that I can boot the computer in Zorin 7 again.

    I don't even know how long it's been but I had given up. until now. My screen does not come on AT ALL, not even and the Bios loading screen. I have to connect it to my TV in order to see. But there's one thing that has always started it back up, and that is by running a hard ware Diagnostics * Provided by DELL* . It is definitely has something to do with Ubuntu. I know that for sure, because I remember running an update and BAM . That was it for the screen. How could I restore my screen back to Life ? I have a Nvidia Graphics Card.

  • Cannot boot Windows 7 after installing Ubuntu 13.04

    So I boot up my computer after installing Ubuntu 13.04. Grub correctly shows me all available boot options and I am able to boot to Ubuntu. However, when I try to boot into Windows 7, grub hangs at a purple screen. I have an HP laptop. It came with all four primary partitions taken up by the Windows bootloader, the actual Windows partition, one called HP_TOOLS, and another for HP Restore. I was able to back up and delete HP_TOOLS and the recovery partition, and change my disk type from Dynamic to Basic (GParted doesn't recognize Dynamic drives). I then booted into a live session of Ubuntu and made two partitions with GParted: one large partition for storage space that I could use between the two operating systems (sda4), and another extended partition (sda3) which contained Ubuntu (sda6) and it's swap space (sda5). It currently looks like this: I'm not sure if the second paragraph is actually relevant, I just want you to know all the variables in the equation. Thank you in advance for helping this poor noob.

  • Organizing your Data Access Layer

    I am using Entity Framework as my ORM in an ASP.Net application. I have my database already created so ended up generating the entity model from it. What is a good way to organize files/classes in the data access layer. My entity framework model is in a class library and I was planning on adding additional classes per Entity(i.e per database table) and putting all the queries related to those tables in their respective classes. I am not sure if this is a right approach and if it is then where do the queries requiring data from multiple tables go? Am I completely wrong in organizing my files based on entities/tables and should I organize them based on functional areas instead.
