• How to tackle archived who-is personal data with opt-out?

  As far as I understand it, it is possible to opt-out (in the UK at least) of having your address details displayed on who-is information of a domain for non-trading individuals. What I want to know is, after opt-out, how do individuals combat archived data? Is there any enforcement of this? How many who-is websites are there which archive data and what rights do we have to force them to remove that data without paying absurd fees? In the case of capitulating to these scoundrels, what point is it in paying for the removal of archived data if that data can presumably resurface on another who-is repository? In other words, what strategy is one supposed to take, besides being wiser after the fact?

• How do I best remove an entity from my game loop when it is dead?

  Ok so I have a big list of all my entities which I loop through and update. In AS3 I can store this as an Array (dynamic length, untyped), a Vector (typed) or a linked list (not native). At the moment I'm using Array but I plan to change to Vector or linked list if it is faster. Anyway, my question, when an Entity is destroyed, how should I remove it from the list? I could null its position, splice it out or just set a flag on it to say "skip over me, I'm dead." I'm pooling my entities, so an Entity that is dead is quite likely to be alive again at some point. For each type of collection what is my best strategy, and which combination of collection type and removal method will work best?

• Re-sizing the form without scaling the GUI

  I am writing a turn based strategy game in C#. My GUI implementation consists of class that extends Form containing a class that extends Panel. When I render the GUI I draw to the paint method in the panel. I am trying to figure out what is the best way for handling form re-size events. I know I want a minimum window size, but I would prefer to not have a maximum or a set size. Ideally the GUI would reveal more/less of the map as the user changes the window size. I would like to avoid scaling the graphics if at all possible. What is the best way to handle re-size events?

  I'm a sophomore about to go into my Spring semester in a few weeks and I am trying to decide some major things that will affect the next few years of my life and was looking for some guidance/advice. I'm currently working towards a Bachelors in Computer Science and my question was whether I should minor in Corporate Strategy and Math or just work towards a Masters in Computer Science? I was wondering if employers are more looking for Masters degrees in Computer Science or if those minors could be beneficial to me. Some things that may affect responses: I already have all my other requirements filled for graduating except my Computer Science classes, I've already had an internship this past summer and am already hearing back from several companies about internships for this upcoming summer. I'm a recent college graduate, and this would be my first "real" job out of school. I'm wondering if any of you guys have any experiences/insights/opinions on Accenture as a company, specifically, the Security or IT Strategy divisions of its Technology consulting branch. • Effecient finding of long-range spotting targets

  I'm creating a top-down 2d strategy game, with a square grid map. So far, I've used Bresenham's line drawing algorithm in a circle to determine what's in LOS of each unit, and then targedt one of the targets in the circle. Now I find that this limits my units to shoot only at targets that they see. I want to extend my targeting algorithm to target any other unit in range of my weapon, even if they're out of sight range of this given unit, if they're "spotted" by another friendly unit. In other words, I want to enable usage of weapons with ranges longer than sight range. Is there a better way than iterating over all sighted units and computing range and LOSto each of them?

  I am developing a 2d android strategy game, it runs on SurfaceView, so I can't(or can I?) use LibGdx's particle system. And I would like to make a raining effect, I am aiming for something like this( http://ridingwiththeriver.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/rain-fall-animation.gif ), I don't need the splash effect in the end (although that would be superb, but probably would take up a lot of system resources). • Quality Assurance=inspections, reviews..?

  Studying this subject extensively, the most books state the following: Quality Assurance: prevention activity. Act of inspection, reviewing.. Quality Control: testing While there are some exceptions that mention that QA deals with just processes (planning, strategy, standard application etc.) which is IMHO much closer to real QA, yet I cannot find any good reference in Google Books. I believe that inspections, reviews, testing is all quality control as it is about checking products, no matter if it is the final one or work products. The problem is that so many authors do not agree. I would be grateful for detailed explanation, ideally with a reference.

  I currently have my app's marketing/external website on the root level, e.g. http://example.com My web app itself is hosted at: http://app.example.com What's the best strategy to set-up Google Analytics tracking for both of them? Should I create a separate web property? Also, what's the difference between creating a new web property and a new profile? UPDATE: I would want to be able to track conversion from a page on the root domain to a sign-up page on the app sub-domain.

  i have been working in technology field for last 7 years. i started with vb.net windows application along with oracle plsql. Later on i did projects that included coding in java ,struts framework ,javascripts. I have lost interest in doing projects with struts framework and doesn't find oracle plsql appealing too. I would love to work with new technologies especially mobile techs and my interests in coding persists still. But i am not sure if my organisation will ever shift its tech base to new and modern frameworks. Now i am 25 years old and worried about taking the right decision. i feel like quitting the job but at the same time i am concerned if i have the sufficient tech skills to start working on modern technologies in other organisations. Also i am confused if i must stick to the same company and wait for management jobs. Kindly suggest your opinions on the right strategy i must opt , being a 25 year old with this background.

  I’m writing simple strategy game (in xna), and would like to have an animated background. In my game all the actions happens inside one screen and thus standard parallax effect does not look appropriate. • How do I remove the Skype icon from the system panel?

  I have been trying for some time to remove the Skype icon in the upper panel in Ubuntu 11.10, but to no avail. I have went into dconf, went to desktop - unity - panel, and I looked to delete 'Skype' from the whitelist. But Skype isn't in the whitelist! And it's showing up on the panel! Something smells fishy here, and I was wondering if anyone had an answer as to a) how I can actually remove the Skype icon from the gnome panel and b) why an icon still show up there if it isn't in the whitelist? Also, if it's relevant, I use Unity. EDIT: So, the only solution for this issue is the scorched earth strategy of removing sni-qt?

  right now I'm going to develop a simple AI for some units for the board game warhammer fantasy. With some simple rules, I've read some things such as http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/21519/complex-game-ai-for-turn-based-strategy-games . I have the robots to move the pieces, the map is just simple(no hills,buildings..) and I need to start to give an AI for the robot to move the pieces. Problem is I have been searching for a long time and can't really find someone that has done something similar with warhammer, and I don't really know where to begin with or which tools I need to use. I would be glad if someone can give me some headsup on how to begin with, or if any programming language is better, not to mention if there is something similar where I could ask for help.
