  • Closing the gap between 2 inline elements

    - by insanepaul
    I have a simple div element that contains 2 inline tags. I've associated a onmouseout event to the div element. The problem is that the onmouseout event is fired when the user hovers their mouse between the two tags in the div and also after the end of the second tag. What I want to do is allow the user to hover their mouse across the whole of the div tag and only fire the onmouseout event when the mouse pointer is outside the div element (which is what I assumed from what I've done). I increased padding to close the gap between the 2 tags. This works but where they meet in IE7 at least the event is fired!!! I must be doing something wrong can someone please help. <div id="Div1" onmouseover="hideDiv()"> <a id="A1" href="HTMLNew.htm">ARTICLES</a> <a id="A2" href="HTMLNew.htm">COURSES & CASES</a> </div>

  • Passing Derived Class Instances as void* to Generic Callbacks in C++

    - by Matthew Iselin
    This is a bit of an involved problem, so I'll do the best I can to explain what's going on. If I miss something, please tell me so I can clarify. We have a callback system where on one side a module or application provides a "Service" and clients can perform actions with this Service (A very rudimentary IPC, basically). For future reference let's say we have some definitions like so: typedef int (*callback)(void*); // This is NOT in our code, but makes explaining easier. installCallback(string serviceName, callback cb); // Really handled by a proper management system sendMessage(string serviceName, void* arg); // arg = value to pass to callback This works fine for basic types such as structs or builtins. We have an MI structure a bit like this: Device <- Disk <- MyDiskProvider class Disk : public virtual Device class MyDiskProvider : public Disk The provider may be anything from a hardware driver to a bit of glue that handles disk images. The point is that classes inherit Disk. We have a "service" which is to be notified of all new Disks in the system, and this is where things unravel: void diskHandler(void *p) { Disk *pDisk = reinterpret_cast<Disk*>(p); // Uh oh! // Remainder is not important } SomeDiskProvider::initialise() { // Probe hardware, whatever... // Tell the disk system we're here! sendMessage("disk-handler", reinterpret_cast<void*>(this)); // Uh oh! } The problem is, SomeDiskProvider inherits Disk, but the callback handler can't receive that type (as the callback function pointer must be generic). Could RTTI and templates help here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Trouble with datasource not being called from viewWillAppear

    - by user278859
    A little background. I have taken GCCalendar which only works in portrait orientation and extended it to work in landscape similar to how the iPhone's Calendar app works. I did this by duplicating the main view class and modifying it to work in landscape. So when the phone is in portrait orientation the CGCalendar is instantiated from the apps main view controller using the original portrait view class and when in landscape orientation using the new modified landscape view class. Most of the other classes in GCCalendar are shared without modification. A few had to be duplicated as well. I got it all working great except for an issue with the datasource. The datasource is called when the calendar is first loaded and each time the user changes the dates being viewed. Problem is I can't get the datasource call to work on the first call. I am stumped as it works fine in portrait orientation and I cannot find any difference between the 2 versions. Following is some of the code that shows how it gets to the datasource call the first time. Subsequent calls removes all the calendar subviews and instantiates them again with the new dates. The duplicated landscape class names end in LS. Otherwise as you can see they are identical. Does anyone has any idea of where else I might look to resolve this issue? Thanks, John -------------------------------- //App main view controller - (void)showLandscapeCalendar { GCCalendarLandscapeView *calendar = [[[GCCalendarLandscapeView alloc] init] autorelease]; calendar.dataSource = self; calendar.delegate = self; navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:calendar]; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; } - (void)showPortraitCalendar { GCCalendarPortraitView *calendar = [[[GCCalendarPortraitView alloc] init] autorelease]; calendar.dataSource = self; calendar.delegate = self; navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:calendar]; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; } - (NSArray *)calendarEventsForDate:(NSDate *)date{ //build and return the events array //this is the protocol datasource method //It is supposed to run every time the date changes in the calendar } ------------------------------- // GCCalendarLandscapeView... - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; if (viewDirty) { [self reloadDayAnimated:NO context:NULL]; viewDirty = NO; } viewVisible = YES; } - (void)reloadDayAnimated:(BOOL)animated context:(void *)context { GCCalendarDayViewLS *nextDayView = [[GCCalendarDayViewLS alloc] initWithCalendarView:self]; } ------------------------------- //GCCalendarDayViewLS - (id)initWithCalendarView:(GCCalendarView *)view { if (self = [super init]) { dataSource = view.dataSource; } return self; } - (void)reloadData { //** first time through the dataSource method does not run events = [dataSource calendarEventsForDate:date]; } ------------------------------- // GCCalendarPortraitView... - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; if (viewDirty) { [self reloadDayAnimated:NO context:NULL]; viewDirty = NO; } viewVisible = YES; } - (void)reloadDayAnimated:(BOOL)animated context:(void *)context { GCCalendarDayView *nextDayView = [[GCCalendarDayView alloc] initWithCalendarView:self]; } ------------------------------- //GCCalendarDayView - (id)initWithCalendarView:(GCCalendarView *)view { if (self = [super init]) { dataSource = view.dataSource; } return self; } - (void)reloadData { **//this one works every time events = [dataSource calendarEventsForDate:date]; }

  • REST web service keeps first POST parametrs

    - by Diego
    I have a web service in REST, designed with Java and deployed on Tomcat. This is the web service structure: @Path("Personas") public class Personas { @Context private UriInfo context; /** * Creates a new instance of ServiceResource */ public Personas() { } @GET @Produces("text/html") public String consultarEdad (@QueryParam("nombre") String nombre) { ConectorCliente c = new ConectorCliente("root", "cafe.sql", "test"); int edad = c.consultarEdad(nombre); if (edad == Integer.MIN_VALUE) return "-1"; return String.valueOf(edad); } @POST @Produces("text/html") public String insertarPersona(@QueryParam("nombre") String msg, @QueryParam("edad") int edad) { ConectorCliente c = new ConectorCliente("usr", "passwd", "dbname"); c.agregar(msg, edad); return "listo"; } } Where ConectorCliente class is MySQL connector and querying class. So, I had tested this with the @GET actually doing POST work, any user inputed data and information from ma Java FX app and it went direct to webservice's database. However, I changed so the CREATE operation was performed through a webservice responding to an actual POST HTTP request. However, when I run the client and add some info, parameters go OK, but in next time I input different parameters it'll input the same. I run this several times and I can't get the reason of it. This is the clients code: public class WebServicePersonasConsumer { private WebTarget webTarget; private Client client; private static final String BASE_URI = "http://localhost:8080/GetSomeRest/serviciosweb/"; public WebServicePersonasConsumer() { client = javax.ws.rs.client.ClientBuilder.newClient(); webTarget = client.target(BASE_URI).path("Personas"); } public <T> T insertarPersona(Class<T> responseType, String nombre, String edad) throws ClientErrorException { String[] queryParamNames = new String[]{"nombre", "edad"}; String[] queryParamValues = new String[]{nombre, edad}; ; javax.ws.rs.core.Form form = getQueryOrFormParams(queryParamNames, queryParamValues); javax.ws.rs.core.MultivaluedMap<String, String> map = form.asMap(); for (java.util.Map.Entry<String, java.util.List<String>> entry : map.entrySet()) { java.util.List<String> list = entry.getValue(); String[] values = list.toArray(new String[list.size()]); webTarget = webTarget.queryParam(entry.getKey(), (Object[]) values); } return webTarget.request().post(null, responseType); } public <T> T consultarEdad(Class<T> responseType, String nombre) throws ClientErrorException { String[] queryParamNames = new String[]{"nombre"}; String[] queryParamValues = new String[]{nombre}; ; javax.ws.rs.core.Form form = getQueryOrFormParams(queryParamNames, queryParamValues); javax.ws.rs.core.MultivaluedMap<String, String> map = form.asMap(); for (java.util.Map.Entry<String, java.util.List<String>> entry : map.entrySet()) { java.util.List<String> list = entry.getValue(); String[] values = list.toArray(new String[list.size()]); webTarget = webTarget.queryParam(entry.getKey(), (Object[]) values); } return webTarget.request(javax.ws.rs.core.MediaType.TEXT_HTML).get(responseType); } private Form getQueryOrFormParams(String[] paramNames, String[] paramValues) { Form form = new javax.ws.rs.core.Form(); for (int i = 0; i < paramNames.length; i++) { if (paramValues[i] != null) { form = form.param(paramNames[i], paramValues[i]); } } return form; } public void close() { client.close(); } } And this this the code when I perform the operations in a Java FX app: String nombre = nombreTextField.getText(); String edad = edadTextField.getText(); String insertToDatabase = consumidor.insertarPersona(String.class, nombre, edad); So, as parameters are taken from TextFields, is quite odd why second, third, fourth and so on POSTS post the SAME.

  • gcc, strict-aliasing, and horror stories

    - by Joseph Quinsey
    In http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2906365/gcc-strict-aliasing-and-casting-through-a-union I asked whether anyone had encountered problems with union punning through pointers. So far, the answer seems to be No. This question is broader: do you have any horror stories about gcc and strict-aliasing? Background: Quoting from AndreyT's answer in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2771023/c99-strict-aliasing-rules-in-c-gcc/2771041#2771041: "Strict aliasing rules are rooted in parts of the standard that were present in C and C++ since the beginning of [standardized] times. The clause that prohibits accessing object of one type through a lvalue of another type is present in C89/90 (6.3) as well as in C++98 (3.10/15). ... It is just that not all compilers wanted (or dared) to enforce it or rely on it." Well, gcc is now daring to do so, with its -fstrict-aliasing switch. And this has caused some problems. See, for example, the excellent article http://davmac.wordpress.com/2009/10/ about a Mysql bug, and the equally excellent discussion in http://cellperformance.beyond3d.com/articles/2006/06/understanding-strict-aliasing.html. Some other less-relevant links: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1225741/performance-impact-of-fno-strict-aliasing http://stackoverflow.com/questions/754929/strict-aliasing http://stackoverflow.com/questions/262379/when-is-char-safe-for-strict-pointer-aliasing http://stackoverflow.com/questions/725138/how-to-detect-strict-aliasing-at-compile-time So to repeat, do you have a horror story of your own? Problems not indicated by -Wstrict-aliasing would, of course, be preferred. And other C compilers are also welcome.

  • Entity Framework Generic Repository Error

    - by Jeff Ancel
    I am trying to create a very generic generics repository for my Entity Framework repository that has the basic CRUD statements and uses an Interface. I have hit a brick wall head first and been knocked over. Here is my code, written in a console application, using a Entity Framework Model, with a table named Hurl. Simply trying to pull back the object by its ID. Here is the full application code. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Data.Objects; using System.Linq.Expressions; using System.Reflection; using System.Data.Objects.DataClasses; namespace GenericsPlay { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var hs = new HurlRepository(new hurladminEntity()); var hurl = hs.Load<Hurl>(h => h.Id == 1); Console.Write(hurl.ShortUrl); Console.ReadLine(); } } public interface IHurlRepository { T Load<T>(Expression<Func<T, bool>> expression); } public class HurlRepository : IHurlRepository, IDisposable { private ObjectContext _objectContext; public HurlRepository(ObjectContext objectContext) { _objectContext = objectContext; } public ObjectContext ObjectContext { get { return _objectContext; } } private Type GetBaseType(Type type) { Type baseType = type.BaseType; if (baseType != null && baseType != typeof(EntityObject)) { return GetBaseType(type.BaseType); } return type; } private bool HasBaseType(Type type, out Type baseType) { Type originalType = type.GetType(); baseType = GetBaseType(type); return baseType != originalType; } public IQueryable<T> GetQuery<T>() { Type baseType; if (HasBaseType(typeof(T), out baseType)) { return this.ObjectContext.CreateQuery<T>("[" + baseType.Name.ToString() + "]").OfType<T>(); } else { return this.ObjectContext.CreateQuery<T>("[" + typeof(T).Name.ToString() + "]"); } } public T Load<T>(Expression<Func<T, bool>> whereCondition) { return this.GetQuery<T>().Where(whereCondition).First(); } public void Dispose() { if (_objectContext != null) { _objectContext.Dispose(); } } } } Here is the error that I am getting: System.Data.EntitySqlException was unhandled Message="'Hurl' could not be resolved in the current scope or context. Make sure that all referenced variables are in scope, that required schemas are loaded, and that namespaces are referenced correctly., near escaped identifier, line 3, column 1." Source="System.Data.Entity" Column=1 ErrorContext="escaped identifier" ErrorDescription="'Hurl' could not be resolved in the current scope or context. This is where I am attempting to extract this information from. http://blog.keithpatton.com/2008/05/29/Polymorphic+Repository+For+ADONet+Entity+Framework.aspx

  • Submit button not focused even though tabindex is properly set

    - by Nicsoft
    Hello, I have defined tabindex for the input fields in a form. When tabbing through the input fields the submit button is never getting the focus, some other input fields in a different form on the page gets the focus. Those are all having tabindexes higher than 3. How come? <form action="subscription.php" name="subscribe" method="post" onsubmit="return isValidEmailAndEqual()"> <p id="formlabel">E-mail</p> <input type="text" name="email1" tabindex=1> <br/> <p id="formlabel">Repeat e-mail</p> <input type="text" name="email2" tabindex=2> <br/> <input id="inputsubmit" type="submit" value="Subscribe" tabindex=3> </form> .css: input { background-color : #333; border: 1px solid #EEE; color: #EEE; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 4px; padding: 1px; width : 200px; } #inputsubmit { background-color : #d7e6f1; border: 1px solid #EEE; color: #0000ff; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 4px; padding: 1px; width : 200px; } #inputsubmit:hover { cursor: pointer; cursor: hand; background-color : #d7e6f1; border: 1px solid #0000ff; color: #0000ff; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 4px; padding: 1px; width : 200px; } p#formlabel{ width: 100; } Thanks in advance!

  • Cant' cast a class with multiple inheritance

    - by Jay S.
    I am trying to refactor some code while leaving existing functionality in tact. I'm having trouble casting a pointer to an object into a base interface and then getting the derived class out later. The program uses a factory object to create instances of these objects in certain cases. Here are some examples of the classes I'm working with. // This is the one I'm working with now that is causing all the trouble. // Some, but not all methods in NewAbstract and OldAbstract overlap, so I // used virtual inheritance. class MyObject : virtual public NewAbstract, virtual public OldAbstract { ... } // This is what it looked like before class MyObject : public OldAbstract { ... } // This is an example of most other classes that use the base interface class NormalObject : public ISerializable // The two abstract classes. They inherit from the same object. class NewAbstract : public ISerializable { ... } class OldAbstract : public ISerializable { ... } // A factory object used to create instances of ISerializable objects. template<class T> class Factory { public: ... virtual ISerializable* createObject() const { return static_cast<ISerializable*>(new T()); // current factory code } ... } This question has good information on what the different types of casting do, but it's not helping me figure out this situation. Using static_cast and regular casting give me error C2594: 'static_cast': ambiguous conversions from 'MyObject *' to 'ISerializable *'. Using dynamic_cast causes createObject() to return NULL. The NormalObject style classes and the old version of MyObject work with the existing static_cast in the factory. Is there a way to make this cast work? It seems like it should be possible.

  • Serializing QGraphicsScene contents

    - by Rob
    I am using the Qt QGraphicsScene class, adding pre-defined items such as QGraphicsRectItem, QGraphicsLineItem, etc. and I want to serialize the scene contents to disk. However, the base QGraphicsItem class (that the other items I use derive from) doesn't support serialization so I need to roll my own code. The problem is that all access to these objects is via a base QGraphicsItem pointer, so the serialization code I have is horrible: QGraphicsScene* scene = new QGraphicsScene; scene->addRect(QRectF(0, 0, 100, 100)); scene->addLine(QLineF(0, 0, 100, 100)); ... QList<QGraphicsItem*> list = scene->items(); foreach (QGraphicsItem* item, items) { if (item->type() == QGraphicsRectItem::Type) { QGraphicsRectItem* rect = qgraphicsitem_cast<QGraphicsRectItem*>(item); // Access QGraphicsRectItem members here } else if (item->type() == QGraphicsLineItem::Type) { QGraphicsLineItem* line = qgraphicsitem_cast<QGraphicsLineItem*>(item); // Access QGraphicsLineItem members here } ... } This is not good code IMHO. So, instead I could create an ABC class like this: class Item { public: virtual void serialize(QDataStream& strm, int version) = 0; }; class Rect : public QGraphicsRectItem, public Item { public: void serialize(QDataStream& strm, int version) { // Serialize this object } ... }; I can then add Rect objects using QGraphicsScene::addItem(new Rect(,,,)); But this doesn't really help me as the following will crash: QList<QGraphicsItem*> list = scene->items(); foreach (QGraphicsItem* item, items) { Item* myitem = reinterpret_class<Item*>(item); myitem->serialize(...) // FAIL } Any way I can make this work?

  • Using Spring as a JPA Container

    - by sdoca
    Hi, I found this article which talks about using Spring as a JPA container: http://java.sys-con.com/node/366275 I have never used Spring before this and am trying to make this work and hope someone can help me. In the article it states that you need to annotate a Spring bean with @Transactional and methods/fields with @PersistenceContext in order to provide transaction support and to inject an entity manager. Is there something the defines a bean as a "Spring Bean"? I have a bean class which implements CRUD operations on entities using generics: @Transactional public class GenericCrudServiceBean implements GenericCrudService { @PersistenceContext(unitName="MyData") private EntityManager em; @Override @PersistenceContext public <T> T create(T t) { em.persist(t); return t; } @Override @PersistenceContext public <T> void delete(T t) { t = em.merge(t); em.remove(t); } ... ... ... @Override @PersistenceContext public List<?> findWithNamedQuery(String queryName) { return em.createNamedQuery(queryName).getResultList(); } } Originally I only had this peristence context annotation: @PersistenceContext(unitName="MyData") private EntityManager em; but had a null em when findWithNamedQuery was invoked. Then I annotated the methods as well, but em is still null (no injection?). I was wondering if this had something to do with my bean not being recognized as "Spring". I have done configuration as best I could following the directions in the article including setting the following in my context.xml file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns:tx="http://www.springframework.org/schema/tx" tx:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/tx http://www.springframework.org/schema/tx/spring-tx-2.0.xsd"> <bean id="entityManagerFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean"> <property name="persistenceUnitName" value="MyData" /> <property name="dataSource" ref="dataSource" /> <property name="loadTimeWeaver" class="org.springframework.classloading.ReflectiveLoadTimeWeaver" /> <property name="jpaVendorAdapter" ref="jpaAdapter" /> </bean> <bean id="dataSource" class="org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" destroy-method="close"> <property name="driverClassName" value="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" /> <property name="url" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:MySID" /> <property name="username" value="user" /> <property name="password" value="password" /> <property name="initialSize" value="3" /> <property name="maxActive" value="10" /> </bean> <bean id="jpaAdapter" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.vendor.EclipseLinkJpaVendorAdapter"> <property name="databasePlatform" value="org.eclipse.persistence.platform.database.OraclePlatform" /> <property name="showSql" value="true" /> </bean> <bean class="org.springframework.ormmjpa.support.PersistenceAnnotationBeanPostProcessor" /> <tx:annotation-driven /> </beans> I guessed that these belonged in the context.xml file because the article never specifically said which file is the "application context" file. If this is wrong, please let me know.

  • C: Proper syntax for allocating memory using pointers to pointers.

    - by ~kero-05h
    This is my first time posting here, hopefully I will not make a fool of myself. I am trying to use a function to allocate memory to a pointer, copy text to the buffer, and then change a character. I keep getting a segfault and have tried looking up the answer, my syntax is probably wrong, I could use some enlightenment. /* My objective is to pass a buffer to my Copy function, allocate room, and copy text to it. Then I want to modify the text and print it.*/ #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> int Copy(char **Buffer, char *Text); int main() { char *Text = malloc(sizeof(char) * 100); char *Buffer; strncpy(Text, "1234567890\n", 100); Copy(&Buffer, Text); } int Copy(char **Buffer, char *Text) { int count; count = strlen(Text)+1; *Buffer = malloc(sizeof(char) * count); strncpy(*Buffer, Text, 5); *Buffer[2] = 'A'; /* This results in a segfault. "*Buffer[1] = 'A';" results in no differece in the output. */ printf("%s\n", *Buffer); }

  • Why do compiled Haskell libraries see invalid static FFI storage?

    - by John Millikin
    I am using GHC 6.12.1, in Ubuntu 10.04 When I try to use the FFI syntax for static storage, only modules running in interpreted mode (ie GHCI) work properly. Compiled modules have invalid pointers, and do not work. I'd like to know whether anybody can reproduce the problem, whether this an error in my code or GHC, and (if the latter) whether it's a known issue. Given the following three modules: -- A.hs {-# LANGUAGE ForeignFunctionInterface #-} module A where import Foreign import Foreign.C foreign import ccall "&sys_siglist" siglist_a :: Ptr CString -- -- B.hs {-# LANGUAGE ForeignFunctionInterface #-} module B where import Foreign import Foreign.C foreign import ccall "&sys_siglist" siglist_b :: Ptr CString -- -- Main.hs {-# LANGUAGE ForeignFunctionInterface #-} module Main where import Foreign import Foreign.C import A import B foreign import ccall "&sys_siglist" siglist_main :: Ptr CString main = do putStrLn $ "siglist_a = " ++ show siglist_a putStrLn $ "siglist_b = " ++ show siglist_b putStrLn $ "siglist_main = " ++ show siglist_main peekSiglist "a " siglist_a peekSiglist "b " siglist_b peekSiglist "main" siglist_main peekSiglist name siglist = do ptr <- peekElemOff siglist 2 str <- maybePeek peekCString ptr putStrLn $ "siglist_" ++ name ++ "[2] = " ++ show str I would expect something like this output, where all pointer values identical and valid: $ runhaskell Main.hs siglist_a = 0x00007f53a948fe00 siglist_b = 0x00007f53a948fe00 siglist_main = 0x00007f53a948fe00 siglist_a [2] = Just "Interrupt" siglist_b [2] = Just "Interrupt" siglist_main[2] = Just "Interrupt" However, if I compile A.hs (with ghc -c A.hs), then the output changes to: $ runhaskell Main.hs siglist_a = 0x0000000040378918 siglist_b = 0x00007fe7c029ce00 siglist_main = 0x00007fe7c029ce00 siglist_a [2] = Nothing siglist_b [2] = Just "Interrupt" siglist_main[2] = Just "Interrupt"

  • What's the boost way to create a functor that binds out an argument

    - by Mordachai
    I have need for a function pointer that takes two arguments and returns a string. I would like to pass an adapter that wraps a function that takes one argument, and returns the string (i.e. discard one of the arguments). I can trivially build my own adapter, that takes the 2 arguments, calls the wrapped function passing just the one argument through. But I'd much rather have a simple way to create an adapter on the fly, if there is an easy way to do so in C++/boost? Here's some details to make this a bit more concrete: typedef boost::function<CString (int,int)> TooltipTextFn; class MyCtrl { public: MyCtrl(TooltipTextFn callback = boost::bind(&MyCtrl::GetCellText, this, _1, _2)) : m_callback(callback) { } // QUESTION: how to trivially wrapper GetRowText to conform to TooltipTextFn by just discarding _2 ?! void UseRowText() { m_callback = boost::bind(&MyCtrl::GetRowText, this, _1, ??); } private: CString GetCellText(int row, int column); CString GetRowText(int row); TooltipTextFn m_callback; } Obviously, I can supply a member that adapts GetRowText to take two arguments and only passes the first to GetRowText() itself. But is there already a boost binder / adapter that lets me do that?

    Hello, I got a very weird issue that I cant figure out in my school project, which is the simulation of a simple filesystem in a human-readable textfile. Unfortunately I don't yet have enough time to translate the comments in my code or make it less gibberish, so if you are bothered by that, you don't have to help, I understand. See the code HERE. Now in drive.h, at line 574 is this part: i = getline(); #ifdef DEBUG printf("Free space in all found at %d.\n\n", i); if(drive.disk != NULL){ printf("Disk OK\n\n"); } #endif //write in data state = seekline(i); Before this it finds place for the allocation database entry in the ALL sector (see the "image files" in the mounts folder, this issue was tested on mount_30.efs-dbf), then gets the line with i = getline() fine (getline is in lglobal.h, line 39), but after that any file manipulation (in this case seekline's fseek, but if I comment that out, then the first fprintf after that) crashes the program straight away. I think the file gets somehow corrupted (though the Disk OK message appears) but can't figure out how. I've tried putting i = getline(); into comment, but it didn't make any difference. I've also tried asking at local programming forums but they didn't really help either. The last few lines of the output before it crashes: Dir written. (drive.h line 562) Seekline entered: 268 (called at drive.h line 564) Getline entered. (called at drive.h line 574) Line got: 268. Free space in all found at 268. (drive.h line 576) Seekline entered: 268 (called at drive.h line 582, note that this exact call was run successfully less than 20 lines back. This one should set the pointer to the beginning of the line it is currently in) After this it crashes. Does anyone has any idea of what causes this and how could I fix it? Thank you.

  • Using Interface Builder efficiently

    - by Aaron Wetzler
    I am new to iPhone and objective c. I have spent hours and hours and hours reading documents and trying to understand how things work. I have RTFM or at least am in the process. My main problem is that I want to understand how to specify where an event gets passed to and the only way I have been able to do it is by specifying delegates but I am certain there is an easier/quicker way in IB. So, an example. Lets say I have 20 different views and view controllers and one MyAppDelegate. I want to be able to build all of these different Xib files in IB and add however many buttons and text fields and whatever and then specify that they all produce some event in the MyAppDelegate object. To do this I added a MyAppDelegate object in each view controller in IB's list view. Then I created an IBAction method in MyAppDelegate in XCode and went back to IB and linked all of the events to the MyAppDelegate object in each Xib file. However when I tried running it it just crashed with a bad read exception. My guess is that each Xib file is putting a MyAppDelegate object pointer that has nothing to do with the eventual MyAppDelegate adress that will actually be created at runtime. So my question is...how can I do this?!!!

  • Image Resizing: Poor jpeg quality and black PNG backgrounds

    - by azz0r
    Hello, I have two issues with my class, basically the quality of the jpeg images is quite poor, but I'm not sure if thats down to my ratio resizing. Ideally I'd like this class to be strict with image sizes and crop into them, but I cant get my head around it. My main issue is that pngs always have a black bg, does anyone have experience with this happening? <?php class OpenSource_ImageResize { function __construct($theFile, $toWhere, $mime, $extension, $newWidth, $newHeight) { if ($mime == NULL) { $mime = getimagesize($theFile); $mime = $mime['mime']; } if ($mime == 'image/jpeg') { $size = getimagesize($theFile); if ($size[0] > $newWidth || $size[1] > $newHeight) { $sourceImage = imagecreatefromjpeg($theFile); } else { return copy($theFile, $toWhere); throw new exception('Could not create jpeg'); return false; } } else if ($mime == 'image/png') { $size = getimagesize($theFile); if ($size[0] > $newWidth || $size[1] > $newHeight) { $sourceImage = imagecreatefrompng($theFile); } else { return copy($theFile, $toWhere); //throw new exception('Could not create png'); return false; } } else if ($mime == 'image/gif') { $size = getimagesize($theFile); if ($size[0] > $newWidth || $size[1] > $newHeight) { $sourceImage = imagecreatefromgif ($theFile); } else { return copy($theFile, $toWhere); //throw new exception('Could not create gif'); return false; } } else { throw new exception('Not a valid mime type'); return false; } $oldX = imageSX($sourceImage); $oldY = imageSY($sourceImage); if ($newWidth == NULL) { $thumbHeight = $newHeight; $thumbWidth = round($newHeight/($oldY/$oldX)); } else if ($oldX > $oldY) { $thumbWidth = $newWidth; $thumbHeight = $oldY * ($newHeight/$oldX); } if ($oldX < $oldY) { $thumbWidth = round($newHeight/($oldY/$oldX)); $thumbHeight = $newHeight; } if ($oldX == $oldY) { $thumbWidth = $newWidth; $thumbHeight = $newHeight; } if (!gd_info()) { $dstImage = ImageCreate($thumbWidth, $thumbHeight); imagecopyresized($dstImage, $sourceImage, 0, 0, 0, 0, $thumbWidth, $thumbHeight, $oldX, $oldY); } else { $dstImage = ImageCreateTrueColor($thumbWidth, $thumbHeight); imagecopyresampled($dstImage, $sourceImage, 0, 0, 0, 0, $thumbWidth, $thumbHeight, $oldX, $oldY); } if ($mime == 'image/png') { $xparent = imagecolorresolvealpha($dstImage, 255,2,240, 0) ; imagecolortransparent($dstImage,$xparent); imagealphablending($dstImage,true); imagepng($dstImage, $toWhere); } else if ($mime == 'image/jpeg') { imagejpeg($dstImage, $toWhere); } else if ($mime == 'image/gif') { imagegif ($dstImage, $toWhere); } imagedestroy($dstImage); imagedestroy($sourceImage); return true; } }

  • Set scaleX property on a Sprite without altering the child inside

    - by grammar
    Is this possible? My site is set up with next and prev buttons on the right and left sides respectively, and as you roll over either of the hit areas around the buttons a Sprite fades in which contains a TextField that describes the next page. Said Sprite calls the StartDrag() method, so it follows the mouse within the bounds, which is all fine and dandy on the left side of the page. Adobe, however, seems to have forgotten to put a way to dynamically alter the registration point of a Sprite, MC, whatever else, so when you roll over the right side of the page, the sprite is displayed from the top left and is mostly off the stage. Trying to hack this problem I have tried numerous things ( classes written by others, other hacks) and the best that I have found is to use the scaleX method on the Sprite, changing the scale to -1. This, of course, makes the Sprite seem like it's reflected from its normal point, which means all its children show up backwards. Is there anyway I can use this hack without it altering the text? OR Does anyone know a different way to go about displaying a Sprite from another corner? Any way to make a Sprite fade in and follow the mouse on the LEFT HAND side of the mouse pointer? Thank you very much in advance. Here is a snippet to give an idea of what's happening: naxtPage.labelBG.scaleX = -1; nextPage.labelBG.startDrag( true, nextHitRect ); nextPage.labelBG.x = nextPage.labelBG.parent.mouseX; nextPage.labelBG.y = nextPage.labelBG.parent.mouseY; Cheers

  • String Length Evaluating Incorrectly

    - by Justin R.
    My coworker and I are debugging an issue in a WCF service he's working on where a string's length isn't being evaluated correctly. He is running this method to unit test a method in his WCF service: // Unit test method public void RemoveAppGroupTest() { string addGroup = "TestGroup"; string status = string.Empty; string message = string.Empty; appActiveDirectoryServicesClient.RemoveAppGroup("AOD", addGroup, ref status, ref message); } // Inside the WCF service [OperationBehavior(Impersonation = ImpersonationOption.Required)] public void RemoveAppGroup(string AppName, string GroupName, ref string Status, ref string Message) { string accessOnDemandDomain = "MyDomain"; RemoveAppGroupFromDomain(AppName, accessOnDemandDomain, GroupName, ref Status, ref Message); } public AppActiveDirectoryDomain(string AppName, string DomainName) { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(AppName)) { throw new ArgumentNullException("AppName", "You must specify an application name"); } } We tried to step into the .NET source code to see what value string.IsNullOrEmpty was receiving, but the IDE printed this message when we attempted to evaluate the variable: 'Cannot obtain value of local or argument 'value' as it is not available at this instruction pointer, possibly because it has been optimized away.' (None of the projects involved have optimizations enabled). So, we decided to try explicitly setting the value of the variable inside the method itself, immediately before the length check -- but that didn't help. // Lets try this again. public AppActiveDirectoryDomain(string AppName, string DomainName) { // Explicitly set the value for testing purposes. AppName = "AOD"; if (AppName == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("AppName", "You must specify an application name"); } if (AppName.Length == 0) { // This exception gets thrown, even though it obviously isn't a zero length string. throw new ArgumentNullException("AppName", "You must specify an application name"); } } We're really pulling our hair out on this one. Has anyone else experienced behavior like this? Any tips on debugging it?

  • Sliding doors HTML buttons in Safari Win

    - by RyanP13
    Hi, I have the following HTML for buttons implementing sliding doors technique that look fine in everything but Safari on Windows: <button type="submit"> <span>Button</span> </button> This is the corresponding CSS: button { background:url("../images/sprBgBtn.png") no-repeat right -47px; border:0; cursor:pointer; font-weight:bold; height:27px; line-height:27px; overflow:visible; padding:0 26px 0 0; position:relative; text-align:center; text-transform:uppercase; width:auto; } button::-moz-focus-inner { border: none; /* overrides extra padding in Firefox */ padding:0; } button span { background:url("../images/sprBgBtn.png") no-repeat left top; display:block; height:27px; line-height:27px; padding:0 0 0 26px; position:relative; white-space:nowrap; } If i omit the following code then the same issue will appear in FFOX: button::-moz-focus-inner { border: none; /* overrides extra padding in Firefox */ padding:0; }

  • Is this a safe/valid hash method implementation?

    - by Sean
    I have a set of classes to represent some objects loaded from a database. There are a couple variations of these objects, so I have a common base class and two subclasses to represent the differences. One of the key fields they have in common is an id field. Unfortunately, the id of an object is not unique across all variations, but within a single variation. What I mean is, a single object of type A could have an id between, say, 0 and 1,000,000. An object of type B could have an id between, 25,000 and 1,025,000. This means there's some overlap of id numbers. The objects are just variations of the same kind of thing, though, so I want to think of them as such in my code. (They were assigned ids from different sets for legacy reasons.) So I have classes like this: @class BaseClass @class TypeAClass : BaseClass @class TypeBClass : BaseClass BaseClass has a method (NSNumber *)objectId. However instances of TypeA and TypeB could have overlapping ids as discussed above, so when it comes to equality and putting these into sets, I cannot just use the id alone to check it. The unique key of these instances is, essentially, (class + objectId). So I figured that I could do this by making the following hash function on the BaseClass: -(NSUInteger)hash { return (NSUInteger)[self class] ^ [self.objectId hash]; } I also implemented isEqual like so: - (BOOL)isEqual:(id)object { return (self == object) || ([object class] == [self class] && [self.objectId isEqual:[object objectId]]); } This seems to be working, but I guess I'm just asking here to make sure I'm not overlooking something - especially with the generation of the hash by using the class pointer in that way. Is this safe or is there a better way to do this?

  • function pointers callbacks C

    - by robUK
    Hello, I have started to review callbacks. I found this link: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/142789/what-is-a-callback-in-c-and-how-are-they-implemented which has a good example of callback which is very similar to what we use at work. However, I have tried to get it to work, but I have many errors. #include <stdio.h> /* Is the actual function pointer? */ typedef void (*event_cb_t)(const struct event *evt, void *user_data); struct event_cb { event_cb_t cb; void *data; }; int event_cb_register(event_ct_t cb, void *user_data); static void my_event_cb(const struct event *evt, void *data) { /* do some stuff */ } int main(void) { event_cb_register(my_event_cb, &my_custom_data); struct event_cb *callback; callback->cb(event, callback->data); return 0; } I know that callback use function pointers to store an address of a function. But there is a few things that I find I don't understand. That is what is meet by "registering the callback" and "event dispatcher"? Many thanks for any advice,

  • C dynamic memory allocation for table of structs

    - by JosiP
    Hi here is my code. I want to dynamincly change no of elemnts in table with structs __state: typedef struct __state{ long int timestamp; int val; int prev_value; }*state_p, state_t; int main(int argc, char **argv){ int zm; int previous_state = 0; int state = 0; int i = 0; int j; state_p st; //here i want to have 20 structs st. st = (state_p) malloc(sizeof(state_t) * 20); while(1){ previous_state = state; scanf("%d", &state); printf("%d, %d\n", state, previous_state); if (previous_state != state){ printf("state changed %d %d\n", previous_state, state); // here i got compile error: main.c: In function ‘main’: main.c:30: error: incompatible type for argument 1 of ‘save_state’ main.c:34: error: invalid type argument of ‘->’ main.c:34: error: invalid type argument of ‘->’ save_state(st[i],previous_state, state); } i++; } return 0; } I suppose i have to change that st[i] to smth like st+ptr ? where pointer is incermeting in each loop iteration ? Or am I wrong ? When i change code: initialization into state_p st[20] and in each loop iteration i put st[i] = (state_p)malloc(sizeof(state_t)) everything works fine, but i want to dynammicly change number of elemets in that table. Thx in advance for any help

  • Webcam video stream processing.

    - by vikramtheone
    Hi Guys, I'm working with an image processing project, my final goal is to detect features on a real time video and finally track those features. I will be working with an Embedded Processor Platform called Freescale's i.MX515, it is a 32-bit media processor running on Ubuntu 9.04. Right now I'm working on the algorithms to locate the features, so, I'm using still images. When I'm satisfied with the results I will have to start using a video stream and I don't want to make use of a video file as a source stream, because then I will have to worry about video decoders then. Instead I would like to plug in a USB Wecam to the embedded platform (It has USB ports on it), directly take the frames as they are captured and send it to my application. I will take care to buy a webcam which will be supported in Linux (Device driver). But my question is will I be able to capture the incoming video stream from the webcam and send it to my application? Will I be able to configure the webcam and DMA to write the incoming frames in a particular memory location whose pointer I can simply pass to my application? (Confused!!!) I hope I could convey my doubts, can anyone guide me with what steps that I have to take to achieve all of these easily? Do you foresee any impossibility here? Help!!! Regards Vikram

  • Code in FOR loop not executed

    I have a ProgressDialog that retrieves in background data from database by executing php script. I'm using gson Google library. php script is working well when executed from browser: {"surveys":[{"id_survey":"1","question_survey":"Are you happy with the actual government?","answer_yes":"50","answer_no":"20"}],"success":1} However, ProgressDialog background treatment is not working well: @Override protected Void doInBackground(Void... params) { String url = "http://192.168.1.4/tn_surveys/get_all_surveys.php"; HttpGet getRequest = new HttpGet(url); Log.d("GETREQUEST",getRequest.toString()); try { DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); Log.d("URL1",url); HttpResponse getResponse = httpClient.execute(getRequest); Log.d("GETRESPONSE",getResponse.toString()); final int statusCode = getResponse.getStatusLine().getStatusCode(); Log.d("STATUSCODE",Integer.toString(statusCode)); Log.d("HTTPSTATUSOK",Integer.toString(HttpStatus.SC_OK)); if (statusCode != HttpStatus.SC_OK) { Log.w(getClass().getSimpleName(), "Error " + statusCode + " for URL " + url); return null; } HttpEntity getResponseEntity = getResponse.getEntity(); Log.d("RESPONSEENTITY",getResponseEntity.toString()); InputStream httpResponseStream = getResponseEntity.getContent(); Log.d("HTTPRESPONSESTREAM",httpResponseStream.toString()); Reader inputStreamReader = new InputStreamReader(httpResponseStream); Gson gson = new Gson(); this.response = gson.fromJson(inputStreamReader, Response.class); } catch (IOException e) { getRequest.abort(); Log.w(getClass().getSimpleName(), "Error for URL " + url, e); } return null; } @Override protected void onPostExecute(Void result) { super.onPostExecute(result); Log.d("HELLO","HELLO"); StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder(); Log.d("STRINGBUILDER","STRINGBUILDER"); for (Survey survey : this.response.data) { String x= survey.getQuestion_survey(); Log.d("QUESTION",x); builder.append(String.format("<br>ID Survey: <b>%s</b><br> <br>Question: <b>%s</b><br> <br>Answer YES: <b>%s</b><br> <br>Answer NO: <b>%s</b><br><br><br>", survey.getId_survey(), survey.getQuestion_survey(),survey.getAnswer_yes(),survey.getAnswer_no())); } Log.d("OUT FOR","OUT"); capitalTextView.setText(Html.fromHtml(builder.toString())); progressDialog.cancel(); } HELLO Log is displayed. STRINGBUILDER Log is displayed. QUESTION Log is NOT displayed. OUT FOR Log is displayed. Survey Class: public class Survey { int id_survey; String question_survey; int answer_yes; int answer_no; public Survey() { this.id_survey = 0; this.question_survey = ""; this.answer_yes=0; this.answer_no=0; } public int getId_survey() { return id_survey; } public String getQuestion_survey() { return question_survey; } public int getAnswer_yes() { return answer_yes; } public int getAnswer_no() { return answer_no; } } Response Class: public class Response { ArrayList<Survey> data; public Response() { data = new ArrayList<Survey>(); } } Any help please concerning WHY the FOR loop is not executed.
