  • Why "Finalize method should not reference any other objects" ?

    - by mishal153
I have been pondering why it is recommended that we should not release managed resources inside finalize. If you see the code example at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.gc.suppressfinalize.aspx , and search for string "Dispose(bool disposing) executes in two distinct scenarios" and read that comment, you will understand what I mean. Only possibility I can think of is that it probably has something to do with the fact that it is not possible to predict when finalizer will get called. Does anyone know the right answer ? thanks, mishal

  • How to extract keywords from a body of text in PHP

    - by Akeem
Currently I'm leveraging http://developer.yahoo.com/search/content/V1/termExtraction.html which isn't ideal for performance and quality reasons. Before I embark on spending time on writing a system I wanted to see if there are any other available options that can do the trick.

  • Is learncpp.com good for beginners?

    - by Dream Lane
In my search for a good, freely available resource that will teach me C++ I stumbled on http://www.learncpp.com/. My question is for intermediate to experienced C++ programmers... Does this site seem to be a good resource for a beginner to learn C++ from? I've gone through the first few section of the site, and I feel like I am starting to grasp the language, but being a beginner in C++ I really could be learning things all wrong and have no idea.

  • Core Data: fetch an NSManagedObject by its properties

    - by niklassaers
Hi guys, I have an object NetworkMember that has no attributes but is defined by its relationships Person, Network, Level and Role. In my app, I've found all the four relationships, but I want to make sure not to double-register my NetworkMember, thus I'd like to search for this NSManagedObject before instantiating it. How should I write a query that queries for an NSManagedObject just consisting of relationships? Cheers Nik

  • In MSWORD How can I make it so that while doing repeated searches, the document scrolls in a reasona

    - by user289444
Typically in MSWord if a search result is off the page, the document window will move down to dispaly the result, already selected - but only just barely showing it. Is there a way to make the display move more, so that the result is (for example) centered instead? This is possible in other text editors such as SciTE using caret.policy.yslop=1 caret.policy.lines=5

  • What is the difference between PS1 and PROMPT_COMMAND

    - by Jed Daniels
While taking a look at this awesome thread I noticed that some examples use PS1="Blah Blah Blah" and some use PROMPT_COMMAND="Blah Blah Blah" (and some use both) when setting the prompt in a bash shell. What is the difference between the two? An SO search and even a bit of broader google searching aren't getting me results, so even a link to the right place to look for the answer would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Strange problem publishing a fresh Ruby on Rails 3 application on localhost (Apache, Passenger and VirtualHosts)

    - by user502052
I recently created a new Ruby on Rails 3 application locally on a Mac OS, named "test". Since I use apache2, in the private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf I set the VirtualHost for the "test" application: <VirtualHost *:443> ServerName test.pjtmain.localhost:443 DocumentRoot "/Users/<my_user_name>/Sites/test/public" RackEnv development <Directory "/Users/<my_user_name>/Sites/test/public"> Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> # SSL Configuration SSLEngine on ... </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName test.pjtmain.localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/<my_user_name>/Sites/test/public" RackEnv development <Directory "/Users/<my_user_name>/Sites/test/public"> Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> Of course I restart apache2, but trying to access to http://test.pjtmain.localhost/ I have this error message from: FIREFOX Oops! Firefox could not find test.pjtmain.localhost Suggestions: * Search on Google: ... SAFARI Safari can’t find the server. Safari can’t open the page “http://test.pjtmain.localhost/” because Safari can’t find the server “test.pjtmain.localhost”. I have other RoR3 applications setted like that above in the httpd.conf file and all them work. What is the problem (maybe it is not related to apache...)? Notes: 1. Using the 'Network Uility' I did a Ping with the following result: ping: cannot resolve test.pjtmain.localhost: Unknown host and I did a Lookup with the follonwing result: ; <<>> DiG 9.6.0-APPLE-P2 <<>> test.pjtmain.localhost +multiline +nocomments +nocmd +noquestion +nostats +search ;; global options: +cmd <MY_BROADBAND_TELECOMUNICATIONS_COMPANY_NAME>.com. 115 IN SOA dns1.<MY_BROADBAND_TELECOMUNICATIONS_COMPANY_NAME>.com. dnsmaster.<MY_BROADBAND_TELECOMUNICATIONS_COMPANY_NAME>.com. Since I not changed nothing to the new "test" application, I expect to see the default RoR index.html page: 4. It seems that in the 'Console Messages' there is any warning or error

How do I hard code an absolute maximum or minimum value for a float or double? I want to search out the max/min of an array by simply iterating through and catching the largest. There are also positive and negative infinity for floats, should I use those instead? If so, how do I denote that in my code?

  • ACCESS/VBA: How to create a ON/OFF type switch to allow record modification on a form ?

    - by Christian M
I was using a combobox on my search form to select whether to consult or modify a record. To make it more user friendly (IMO), I put a togglebutton on a form, which controls the .AllowEdits property of my form. This way you can easily switch from reading to writing. However I run into a problem; once .AllowEdits is switched to false, the togglebutton is not clickable anymore ! What are my options ?
