  • Adding dynamic data to a table

    - by user559780
    I've the following table in my application. I've a ajax request which will fetch the results to be shown in the table. How add these results to the table with out overridding the header every time? <table id="itemList"> <td>Name</td> <td>Price</td> <td>Quantity</td> <td>Total</td> </table> Then the ajax data is as shown below var items = [ { Name: "Apple", Price: "80", Quantity : "3", Total : "240" }, { Name: "Orance", Price: "50", Quantity : "4", Total : "200" }, { Name: "Banana", Price: "20", Quantity : "8", Total : "160" }, { Name: "Cherry", Price: "250", Quantity : "10", Total : "2500" } ]; Now I'm trying something like this but it is not working var rows = ""; $.each(items, function(){ rows += "<tr><td>" + this.Name + "</td><td>" + this.Price + "</td><td>" + this.Quantity + "</td><td>" + this.Total + "</td></tr>"; }); $( "#itemList" ).text('<tr><td>Name</td><td>Price</td><td>Quantity-</td><td>Total</td></tr>' + rows );

  • JSON.Stringify data including boolean values

    - by ancdev
    What I'm trying to do is to pass JSON object to a WebAPI ajax call and mapped to a strongly typed object on the server side. String values are being posted perfectly however when it comes to boolean values, they are not being passed at all. Below is my code: var gsGasolineField = $('.gsGasoline').val(); blData = { Gasoline: gsGasolineField }; var json = JSON.stringify(blData); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: url, data: json, contentType: "application/json", dataType: "json", statusCode: { 201 /*Created"*/: function (data) { $("#BusinessLayerDialog").dialog("close"); ClearForm("#BusinessLayerForm"); }, 400: /*Bad request - validation error*/ function (data) { $("#BusinessLayerForm").validate().form(); }, 500: function (data) { alert('err'); } }, beforeSend: setHeader }); Gasoline property is of type boolean on the server side.

  • stop script debug error dialogs occur in ie8 ?

    - by Haroldo
    I get this, clicking 'no' means the page displays flawlessly. it's refering to this part of jquery1.4.2.js: // Get the Nth element in the matched element set OR // Get the whole matched element set as a clean array get: function( num ) { return num == null ? // Return a 'clean' array this.toArray() : // Return just the object ( num < 0 ? this.slice(num)[ 0 ] : this[ num ] ); }, I assume i'm calling something in the wrong context somewhere in one of my js files (which would be a real mission to find). Will standard IE8 users get this error? (i imagine ms make it pretty difficult to reinstall ie!)

  • Highlight DIV and dim the rest on mouseover

    - by Darren Sweeney
    I have a page full of DIVs which contain images. When I mouse over an image I can highlight it or add a shadow to accent it easily by adding class etc but is there a way to dim every other image instead. DIVs are loaded into DOM and I would like the DIV currently hovered over to retain 100% or 1 opacity and the rest of the DIVs on the page to fade to say 70% or 0.7 when one DIV is highlighted. Is this possible?

  • Parsing XML in Javascript getElementsByTagName not working

    - by Probocop
    Hi, I am trying to parse the following XML with javascript: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <ResultSet> <Result> <URL>www.asd.com</URL> <Value>10500</Value> </Result> </ResultSet> The XML is generated by a PHP script to get how many pages are indexed in Bing. My javascript function is as follows: function bingIndexedPages() { ws_url = "http://archreport.epiphanydev2.co.uk/worker.php?query=bingindexed&domain="+$('#hidden_the_domain').val(); $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: ws_url, dataType: "xml", success: function(xmlIn){ alert('success'); result = xmlIn.getElementsByTagName("Result"); $('#tb_actualvsindexedbing_indexed').val($(result.getElementsByTagName("Value")).text()); $('#img_actualvsindexedbing_worked').attr("src","/images/worked.jpg"); }, error: function() {$('#img_actualvsindexedbing_worked').attr("src","/images/failed.jpg");} }); } The problem I'm having is firebug is saying: 'result.getElementsByTagName is not a function' Can you see what is going wrong? Thanks

  • manipulate content inserted by ajax, without using the callback

    - by Cody
    I am using ajax to insert a series of informational blocks via a loop. The blocks each have a title, and long description in them that is hidden by default. They function like an accordion, only showing one description at a time amongst all of the blocks. The problem is opening the description on the first block. I would REALLY like to do it with javascript right after the loop that is creating them is done. Is it possible to manipulate elements created ofter an ajax call without using the callback? <!-- example code--> <style> .placeholder, .long_description{ display:none;} </style> </head><body> <script> /* yes, this script is in the body, dont know if it matters */ $(document).ready(function() { $(".placeholder").each(function(){ // Use the divs to get the blocks var blockname = $(this).html(); // the contents if the div is the ID for the ajax POST $.post("/service_app/dyn_block",'form='+blockname, function(data){ var divname = '#div_' + blockname; $(divname).after(data); $(this).setupAccrdFnctly(); //not the actual code }); }); /* THIS LINE IS THE PROBLEM LINE, is it possible to reference the code ajax inserted */ /* Display the long description in the first dyn_block */ $(".dyn_block").first().find(".long_description").addClass('active').slideDown('fast'); }); </script> <!-- These lines are generated by PHP --> <!-- It is POSSIBLE to display the dyn_blocks --> <!-- here but I would really rather not --> <div id="div_servicetype" class="placeholder">servicetype</div> <div id="div_custtype" class="placeholder">custtype</div> <div id="div_custinfo" class="placeholder">custinfo</div> <div id="div_businfo" class="placeholder">businfo</div> </body>

  • Can a Client Link to My JavaScript, Hosted on a Different Domain?

    - by DaveDev
    Is it possible for me to supply a client with a snippet of HTML which contains a reference to a javascript file that I host? They want to paste this HTML into their CMS, so that when their page loads, it'll load our content. I was under the impression that there was cross domain security preventing this from being possible. What if, instead of linking to the JavaScript, I gave them the snippet of HTML with the JavaScript already included so instead of <div> <!-- link to js --> </div> I gave them <div> $.get(/*url to my content*/); </div> Would that work?

  • Split number and put each digit to separate html element

    - by Seven
    The problem is that I do not know how to break the loop for the first number and start again for the next one. Currently, one span.nNumber has a total digits of the two numbers (123456) and the next span.nNumber contains digits only from another number (456). Goal is to create sequence 123 and 456: <span class='nNumber'> <span>1</span> <span>2</span> <span>3</span> </span> and <span class='nNumber'> <span>4</span> <span>5</span> <span>6</span> </span> Example script: http://jsfiddle.net/PZ8Pt/2/

  • check if directory exists c#

    - by Ant
    I am trying to see if a directory exists based on an input field from the user. When the user types in the path, I want to check if the path actually exists. I have some c# code already. It returns 1 for any local path, but always returns 0 when I am checking a network path. static string checkValidPath(string path) { //Insert your code that runs under the security context of the authenticating user here. using (ImpersonateUser user = new ImpersonateUser(user, "", password)) { //DirectoryInfo d = new DirectoryInfo(quotelessPath); bool doesExist = Directory.Exists(path); //if (d.Exists) if(doesExist) { user.Dispose(); return "1"; } else { user.Dispose(); return "0"; } } } public class ImpersonateUser : IDisposable { [DllImport("advapi32.dll", SetLastError = true)] private static extern bool LogonUser(string lpszUsername, string lpszDomain, string lpszPassword, int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, out IntPtr phToken); [DllImport("kernel32", SetLastError = true)] private static extern bool CloseHandle(IntPtr hObject); private IntPtr userHandle = IntPtr.Zero; private WindowsImpersonationContext impersonationContext; public ImpersonateUser(string user, string domain, string password) { if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(user)) { // Call LogonUser to get a token for the user bool loggedOn = LogonUser(user, domain, password, 9 /*(int)LogonType.LOGON32_LOGON_NEW_CREDENTIALS*/, 3 /*(int)LogonProvider.LOGON32_PROVIDER_WINNT50*/, out userHandle); if (!loggedOn) throw new Win32Exception(Marshal.GetLastWin32Error()); // Begin impersonating the user impersonationContext = WindowsIdentity.Impersonate(userHandle); } } public void Dispose() { if (userHandle != IntPtr.Zero) CloseHandle(userHandle); if (impersonationContext != null) impersonationContext.Undo(); } } Any help is appreciated. Thanks! EDIT 3: updated code to use BrokenGlass's impersonation functions. However, I need to initialize "password" to something... EDIT 2: I updated the code to try and use impersonation as suggested below. It still fails everytime. I assume I am using impersonation improperly... EDIT: As requested by ChrisF, here is the function that calls the checkValidPath function. Frontend aspx file... $.get('processor.ashx', { a: '7', path: x }, function(o) { alert(o); if (o=="0") { $("#outputPathDivValid").dialog({ title: 'Output Path is not valid! Please enter a path that exists!', width: 500, modal: true, resizable: false, buttons: { 'Close': function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); } }); Backend ashx file... public void ProcessRequest (HttpContext context) { context.Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.Now); string sSid = context.Request["sid"]; switch (context.Request["a"]) {//a bunch of case statements here... case "7": context.Response.Write(checkValidPath(context.Request["path"].ToString())); break;

  • Different actions on multiple Keydown event

    - by Billy Mitchell
    Okay, so my question (im hoping) is fairly simple. I want to know what to do so that I can create different events for the same keycode. For instance Id like to fade out a div and fade a new one in on the first keypress, then fade that one out and fade a new one in on keypress. Thanks! $(document).keydown(function() { if (event.keyCode == '40') { $('.div-1').fadeOut("slow") $('.div-2').fadeIn("slow") // I'd like this event to occur on the Second keydown $('.div-2').fadeOut("slow") $('.div-3').fadeIn("slow") } });

  • Jeditable doubling up on linebreaks every edit

    I'm using var retval = value.replace(/<br[\s\/]?>/gi, '\n'); To strip the <br> tags from the textarea and nl2br('$_POST('newValueHere')') to insert into my database and to return back to jeditable to display the edits. The only problem I'm having is that each click on the editable field seems to make all the <br> tags be written twice? This makes no sense, does anyone have any ideas what could be going on?

  • small scale web site - global javascript file style/format/pattern - improving maintainability

    - by yaya3
    I frequently create (and inherit) small to medium websites where I have the following sort of code in a single file (normally named global.js or application.js or projectname.js). If functions get big, I normally put them in a seperate file, and call them at the bottom of the file below in the $(document).ready() section. If I have a few functions that are unique to certain pages, I normally have another switch statement for the body class inside the $(document).ready() section. How could I restructure this code to make it more maintainable? Note: I am less interested in the functions innards, more so the structure, and how different types of functions should be dealt with. I've also posted the code here - http://pastie.org/999932 in case it makes it any easier var ProjectNameEnvironment = {}; function someFunctionUniqueToTheHomepageNotWorthMakingConfigurable () { $('.foo').hide(); $('.bar').click(function(){ $('.foo').show(); }); } function functionThatIsWorthMakingConfigurable(config) { var foo = config.foo || 700; var bar = 200; return foo * bar; } function globallyRequiredJqueryPluginTrigger (tooltip_string) { var tooltipTrigger = $(tooltip_string); tooltipTrigger.tooltip({ showURL: false ... }); } function minorUtilityOneLiner (selector) { $(selector).find('li:even').not('li ul li').addClass('even'); } var Lightbox = {}; Lightbox.setup = function(){ $('li#foo a').attr('href','#alpha'); $('li#bar a').attr('href','#beta'); } Lightbox.init = function (config){ if (typeof $.fn.fancybox =='function') { Lightbox.setup(); var fade_in_speed = config.fade_in_speed || 1000; var frame_height = config.frame_height || 1700; $(config.selector).fancybox({ frameHeight : frame_height, callbackOnShow: function() { var content_to_load = config.content_to_load; ... }, callbackOnClose : function(){ $('body').height($('body').height()); } }); } else { if (ProjectNameEnvironment.debug) { alert('the fancybox plugin has not been loaded'); } } } // ---------- order of execution ----------- $(document).ready(function () { urls = urlConfig(); (function globalFunctions() { $('.tooltip-trigger').each(function(){ globallyRequiredJqueryPluginTrigger(this); }); minorUtilityOneLiner('ul.foo') Lightbox.init({ selector : 'a#a-lightbox-trigger-js', ... }); Lightbox.init({ selector : 'a#another-lightbox-trigger-js', ... }); })(); if ( $('body').attr('id') == 'home-page' ) { (function homeFunctions() { someFunctionUniqueToTheHomepageNotWorthMakingConfigurable (); })(); } });

  • JavaScript automatically converts some special characters

    - by noplacetoh1de
    I need to extract a HTML-Substring with JS which is position dependent. I store special characters HTML-encoded. For example: HTML <div id="test"><p>l&ouml;sen &amp; gr&uuml;&szlig;en</p></div>? Text lösen & grüßen My problem lies in the JS-part, for example when I try to extract the fragment lö, which has the HTML-dependent starting position of 3 and the end position of 9 inside the <div> block. JS seems to convert some special characters internally so that the count from 3 to 9 is wrongly interpreted as "lösen " and not "l&ouml;". Other special characters like the &amp; are not affected by this. So my question is, if someone knows why JS is behaving in that way? Characters like &auml; or &ouml; are being converted while characters like &amp; or &nbsp; are plain. Is there any possibility to avoid this conversion? I've set up a fiddle to demonstrate this: JSFiddle Thanks for any help! EDIT: Maybe I've explained it a bit confusing, sorry for that. What I want is the HTML: <p>l&ouml;sen &amp; gr&uuml;&szlig;en</p> . Every special character should be unconverted, except the HTML-Tags. Like in the HTML above. But JS converts the &ouml; or &uuml; into ö or ü automatically, what I need to avoid.
