  • textFieldShouldBeginEditing + UIKeyboardWillShowNotification + OS 3.2

    - by user193545
I have multiple textfields on a UIView. I resign for a previous textField in textFieldShouldBeginEditing method, where following sequence of events are performed UIKeyboardWillHideNotification is received corresponding to that field where the keyboard for the previous field is hidden. the method textFieldShouldBeginEditing returns a YES and then UIKeyboardWillShowNotification is received where the keyboard for the current field is displayed. However, in OS 3.2 even though textFieldShouldBeginEditing returns a YES, UIKeyboardWillShowNotification for the current field is not received. The logic works for OS < 3.2 Any ideas where I might be doing wrong?

  • How can keep track of the index path of a button in a tableview cell?

    - by Jake
I have a table view where each cell has a button accessory view. The table is managed by a fatchedresults controller and is frequently reordered. I want to be able to press a button and be able to obtain the index path of the pressed button's tableviewcell. I've been trying to get this working for days by storing the row of the button in it's tag, but when the table get's reordered the row becomes incorrect and I keep failing at reordering the tags correctly when a change is made. Any new ideas on how to keep track of the button's cell's index path? Thanks so much for any help.

  • nsfetchedresultscontroller with empty sections

    - by WearyMonkey
I have a database of People and pets, with a one to many relationship Person Pet Name Name Pet <----- Owner I am using a UITableView backed by Core data and a nsfetchedresultscontroller to display the list of pets, grouped into sections by the owner. NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; fetchRequest.entity = [NSEntityDescription entityFromName:@"Pet" inManagedObjectContext:context] NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"Owner.name" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSFetchedResultsController *controller = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:context sectionNameKeyPath:@"Owner.name" cacheName:@"Root"]; This works to display all pets under their owners section, however I also want to display the empty sections of People who do not have any pets? Is this possible? Thanks for any help.

  • How to reset the context to the original rectangle after clipping it for drawing?

    - by mystify
I try to draw a sequence of pattern images (different repeated patterns in one view). So what I did is this, in a loop: CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); // clip to the drawing rectangle to draw the pattern for this portion of the view CGContextClipToRect(context, drawingRect); // the first call here works fine... but for the next nothing will be drawn CGContextDrawTiledImage(context, CGRectMake(0, 0, 2, 31), [img CGImage]); I think that after I've clipped the context to draw the pattern in the specific rectangle, I cut out a snippet from the big canvas and the next time, my canvas is gone. can't cut out another snippet. So I must reset that clipping somehow in order to be able to draw another pattern again somewhere else? Edit: In the documentation I found this: CGContextClip: "... Therefore, to re-enlarge the paintable area by restoring the clipping path to a prior state, you must save the graphics state before you clip and restore the graphics state after you’ve completed any clipped drawing. ..." Well then, how to store the graphics state before clipping and how to restore it?

  • Validation for textfield is not working

    - by MaheshBabu
Hi folks, I am using 4 Textfields in my application. I need to validate those textfields like,These 4 textfields Allow only o,1,....9 and . For that i use the code like this. - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string { static NSCharacterSet *charSet = nil; if(!charSet) { charSet = [[[NSCharacterSet characterSetWithCharactersInString:@"0123456789."] invertedSet] retain]; } NSRange location = [string rangeOfCharacterFromSet:charSet]; return (location.location == NSNotFound); And first textfield allows digits 10,second third and fourth textfields allows less than 100. For that my code is if (textField.tag == 1) { NSString *newString = [textField.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:string]; double homevaluedouble = [newString doubleValue]; return !(homevaluedouble > 10000000000); } if (textField.tag == 2) { NSString *newString = [textField.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:string]; double validate = [newString doubleValue]; return !(validate > 100); } if (textField.tag == 3) { NSString *newString = [textField.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:string]; double validate = [newString doubleValue]; return !(validate > 100); } I write this code in - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string { But textfields allows 0,1,..9 and . but digit limit is not working, if i remove 0,1,...9 then limit to textfield working. i am getting confuse with it. can any one pls help me,How can i resolve it. Thank u in advance.

  • @property, ok in this situation?

    - by fuzzygoat
I am still finding my feet with objective-c and was wondering if its acceptable to use @property on the two objects below. #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import <MapKit/MapKit.h> @interface MapViewController : UIViewController <MKMapViewDelegate, CLLocationManagerDelegate> { CLLocationManager *locationManager; IBOutlet MKMapView *googleMapView; } @property(nonatomic, retain) CLLocationManager *locationManager; @property(nonatomic, retain) MKMapView *googleMapView; @end One of my reasons for using them is so that I can use the setters in my viewDidUnload, I seem to be using @property a lot and was just wondering if the use in this situation is acceptable? -(void)viewDidUnload { [self setLocationManager:nil]; [self setGoogleMapView:nil]; [super viewDidUnload]; } much appreciated Gary

  • How to increment a value using a C-Preprocessor?

    - by mystify
Example: I try to do this: static NSInteger stepNum = 1; #define METHODNAME(i) -(void)step##i #define STEP METHODNAME(stepNum++) @implementation Test STEP { // do stuff... [self nextFrame:@selector(step2) afterDelay:1]; } STEP { // do stuff... [self nextFrame:@selector(step3) afterDelay:1]; } STEP { // do stuff... [self nextFrame:@selector(step4) afterDelay:1]; } // ... When building, Xcode complains that it can't increment stepNum. This seems logical to me, because at this time the code is not "alive" and this pre-processing substitution stuff happens before actually compiling the source code. Is there another way I could have an variable be incremented on every usage of STEP macro, the easy way?

  • ParentViewController returns nil

    - by Andreas Johannessen
Hi I know there are many questions on this, but I don't get it to work. I present a UITabBarController with the presentModalViewController. However when I try to get title from the navigationItem title attribute in the UINavigationController class that presents the tabcontroller, it returns nil no matter what I do. I have the NSLog in the viewDidLoad method in tabcontroller class. I also cast the UIViewController which is returned by the self.parentViewController property. Then I try to access the title through: NSLog(@"%@", castedViewController.navigationItem.title); Any suggestions?

  • Adding a UIView to a UITableViewCell via cell.contentView

    - by Robert Eisinger
I have a class called GraphView that extends UIView that basically draws a small little line chart. I need one of these graphs at the top of each section in my UITableView. So I tried by creating a separate cell at the top of one of my sections and then on that cell I did: [cell.contentView addSubview:graphView]; [graphView release]; But when I scroll down, it's like the graph is glitchy and it shows up in random spots along the UITableView. Anyone have ideas or insight? Is there a better way to incorporate another UIView into the top of each section in my UITableView?

  • How do I reset the state of a view inside a tabbar?

    - by ABeanSits
Hello CocoaTouch-Experts! This is a fairly straightforward question though my Googling session gave me nothing. How do I reset the state of a view hierarchy located in a tabbar programmatically? The behavior I want to replicate is when the user tapps on a tab twice. This causes the view located under that tab to return to it's initial state. The tab is "owned" by a UINavigationController and when the user reaches a certain point in the view hierarchy there is a button which I want to connect this behavior to. All my attempts have failed except calling on a method in AppDelegate which kills the view and adds it back to the UITabBarController again. But this does not feel like the right way to go. Thanks in advance. Best regards //Abeansits

  • How do i know in the detail view what cell in tableview was selected?

    - by Daniel Rotaru
how can i know what tableview cell was selected?(being in the detail view) The problem is that. I have an table view controller. Here are parsed from the internet entries to the table. So it's a dynamic tabe view that loads from internet. I will not know how many entries will be in the table so i will not know what details view to call when i click a row. So i have maked one view. This view contains an calendar. On this calendar(wich is the detail iew) i will parse data from internet depending on the selected row. For exemple: i have table: entry 1, entry 2,entry 3,entry 4 When i click entry 2 i need to call a php with the argument entry 2. The php will know what entry on the table i have selected and will generate me the correct xml that i will parse. Here is my tableview didSelectRow function: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic -- create and push a new view controller if(bdvController == nil) bdvController = [[BookDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"BookDetailView" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; Villa *aVilla = [appDelegate.villas objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:bdvController animated:YES] And here is my self view function on detailviewcontroller: -(void)loadView { [super loadView]; self.title=@"Month" UIBarButtonItem *addButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"ListView" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleDone target:self action:@selector(add:)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = addButtonItem; calendarView = [[[KLCalendarView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 373.0f) delegate:self] autorelease]; appDelegate1 = (XMLAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; myTableView=[[UITableView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 260, 320, 160)style:UITableViewStylePlain]; myTableView.dataSource=self; myTableView.delegate=self; UIView *myHeaderView=[[UIView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, myTableView.frame.size.width,2)]; myHeaderView.backgroundColor=[UIColor grayColor]; [myTableView setTableHeaderView:myHeaderView]; [self.view addSubview:myTableView]; [self.view addSubview:calendarView]; [self.view bringSubviewToFront:myTableView]; } I think that here in self load i need to make the if procedure.. If indexPath.row=x parse fisier.php?variabila=title_of_rowx but the question is how i know the indexPath variable?

  • Reading a Text file in xcode

    - by Nicolaj Zefting
First off, I'm a complete beginner. This might be a stupid question, but here it goes: I'm currently working on an App than contains Latin texts that the users can view and read. I'm using Xcode 4 with the storybord function. Theway the app is built: user selects author - then the book - then app shows the text. I am kind of confused because i need to have various text files, depending on the users choice.

  • Detect double-tap on UISlider?

    - by Randy
I can detect single/double-taps in specific views with: NSSet *myTouches = [event touchesForView:mySpecificView.view]; but I want to detect a double-tap on the button of a slider and can't find any reference to it. Is there a replacement for "touchesForView:" where I can enter the name of my slider? usage: I have three sliders with their default value being directly in the center of the slider. Once the position of the slider has changed, I want a quick way to individually reset each slider to its default position. I currently have each slider's containing view set to respond to a double-tap, updating each slider. It works fine, but doesn't seem natural. ie.I can't double-tap on the slider itself because the slider intercepts the taps and doesn't pass them on to the surrounding view. thanks in advance

  • Remembering state: content offset and table cell reuse.

    - by Attacus
I have a tableview with cells that have a scrollview in them. The scrollview is paged, 2 pages to be exact, and is meant to be able to quickly compare two small blocks of text. I'm trying to find a way to remember what the content offset of the scrollview is. Cell reuse is killing me. I've tried resetting the offset in prepareForReuse or directly in the cellForRowAtIndexPath, but it seems to give me exactly what you'd expect: Randomly offset tablecells after reuse. Anyone have any ideas?
