  • UIImage from NSDocumentDirectory leaking memory

    - by Emil
Hey. I currently have this code: UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[imagesPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"/%@.png", [postsArrayID objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]]]; It's loading in an image to set in a UITableViewCell. This obviously leaks a lot of memory (I do release it, two lines down after setting the cells image to be that image), and I'm not sure if it caches the image at all. Is there another way, that doesen't leak so much, I can use to load in images multiple times, like in a tableView, from the Documents-directory of my app? Thanks.

  • How to display data stored in core data in a table view?

    - by Dipanjan Dutta
    Hello All, I have developed a core data model for my application. I need to display the saved data into a table view. For my app I have selected split view controller. I am writing down my codes below. Please help me in this regard and write me the code that needs to be added. This is very important as my continuation in my company depends on this. #import "RootViewController.h" #import "DetailViewController.h" #import "AddViewController.h" #import "EmployeeDetailsAppDelegate.h" /* This template does not ensure user interface consistency during editing operations in the table view. You must implement appropriate methods to provide the user experience you require. */ @interface RootViewController () - (void)configureCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; @end @implementation RootViewController @synthesize detailViewController, fetchedResultsController, managedObjectContext, results, empName; #pragma mark - #pragma mark View lifecycle - (void)viewDidLoad { results = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc]init]; [results setObject:empName.text forKey:@"EmployeeName"]; [self.tableView reloadData]; [super viewDidLoad]; } /* - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; } */ /* - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; } */ /* - (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillDisappear:animated]; } */ /* - (void)viewDidDisappear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidDisappear:animated]; } */ - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Ensure that the view controller supports rotation and that the split view can therefore show in both portrait and landscape. return YES; } - (void)configureCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSManagedObject *managedObject = [self.fetchedResultsController objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; cell.textLabel.text = [[managedObject valueForKey:@"EmployeeName"] description]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Add a new object - (void)insertNewObject:(id)sender { AddViewController *add = [[AddViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"AddViewController" bundle:nil]; self.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet; add.wantsFullScreenLayout = NO; [self presentModalViewController:add animated:YES]; [add release]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Table view data source - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return 1; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell.   • How to restrict rightBarButtonItem size in UINavigationBar ?

    - by lefakir
I create a rightBarButtonItem with this method : - (UIBarButtonItem *)customBarButtonWithSelector:(SEL)callback { UIButton *customButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; customButton.bounds = CGRectMake(0, 0, 30.0f, 30.0f); return [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:customButton] autorelease]; } At execution time the selector is fired when the bar is touched outside the button (near the middle). Is there a way to restrict the event responder in the defined bounds or in a acceptable range ?

  • table to updated after selection with uipicker

    - by Guille10k
An UIPicker shows up when I select a row in a table, so I can choose some things I want to be displayed on the same row. How can I update the table once I finished with the uipicker? I used reloadData right after the call to the picker, but the code is executed before I do "Done" on the picker. Some idea? Thank u

  • drawing images and lines over UIScrollView

    - by Jorge
I'm programming an app in which one of the ViewControllers is showing an UIScrollView that shows an image. I'd like to load an image (pushpin in png format) and draw it (and delete it) in some points of the UIScrollView image. I'd also would like to draw bezier paths in that image (and deleting them). I've programmed several apps but this is the first time I face graphic programming and don't know where to start from. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Calculating File size before download

    - by sagar
Ok ! Coming to the point directly. What I want to do is explained as follows. I have an url of MP3 file. ( for example Sound File ) Now, When user starts application. Download should start & for that I have implemented following methods. -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSURL *url=[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://xyz.pqr.com/abc.mp3"]; NSURLRequest *req=[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url cachePolicy:NSURLCacheStorageNotAllowed timeoutInterval:120]; NSURLConnection *con=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:req delegate:self startImmediately:YES]; if(con){ myWebData=[[NSMutableData data] retain]; } else { // [MainHandler performSelector:@selector(targetSelector:) withObject:nil]; } } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response{ NSLog(@"%@",@"connection established"); [myWebData setLength: 0]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { NSLog(@"%@",@"connection receiving data"); [myWebData appendData:data]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"%@",@"connection failed"); [connection release]; // [AlertViewHandler showAlertWithErrorMessage:@"Sorry, there is no network connection. Please check your network and try again."]; // [self parserDidEndDocument:nil]; } -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; } Now, Above methods work perfectly for downloading. But missing points are as follows. I can not get the exact size which is going to be downloaded. ( means I want to know what is the size of file - which is going to be download )

  • Does the Fetch Request do the recommended batch faulting?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
I'm curious. Apple says in the docs: Core Data automatically fires faults when necessary (when a persistent property of a fault is accessed). However, firing faults individually can be inefficient, and there are better strategies for getting data from the persistent store (see “Batch Faulting and Pre-fetching with the SQLite Store”). NSFetchRequest has this feature: [fetchRequest setFetchBatchSize:20]; Is this essentially performing such a batch faulting like recommended? Just to make this clear for others, faulting does not mean "turning into a fault" but it means "materializing it", just like "making a Scooby-Doo out of it". Pretty ugly wording error, in my opinion, but it's at least consistent in the docs ;)

  • If I want to play the same sound 10 times per second, must I have 10 copies of that sound in memory?

    - by mystify
I have a sound that needs to get played 10 times per second. The sound is 1 second long. So it does overlap like 10 times. However, as far as I understand the Finch sound library, I would need 10 different instances of a sound in place so that I can play it 10 times at almost the same time. When I have just one instance, the sound would stop and play from the beginning on every iteration, but not overlap with itself. How to do that?

  • Best way to set default tint for UINavigationController

    - by Brian
I use a lot of UINavigationControllers in my app. I am using a UIColor to set the tintcolor of the navigationBar. This works as expected, but I am trying to find an easy way to set a default tintcolor for all UINavigationControllers. What is the best way to do this? Is it subclassing the UINavigationController, or is there something better? Thanks for the help.

  • Maintaining integrity of Core Data Entities with many incoming one-to-many relationships

    - by Henry Cooke
Hi all. I have a Core Data store which contains a number of MediaItem entities that describe, well, media items. I also have NewsItems, which have one-to-many relationships to a number of MediaItems. So far so good. However, I also have PlayerItems and GalleryItems which also have one-to-many relationships to MediaItems. So MediaItems are shared across entities. Given that many entities may have one-to-many relationships, how can I set up reciprocal relationships from a MediaItem to all (1 or more) of the entities which have relationships to it and, furthermore, how can I implement rules to delete MediaItems when the number of those reciprocal relationships drops to 0?

  • Two PickerViews in save View issue?

    - by NextRev
I'm trying to have 2 pickerviews in the same view. It works except for two things. If one pickerview has more rows than the other the app crashes when picking an item from the pickerview with more items. Also I created an NSLog for the pickerviews and the console shows that I'm picking two items at once when in fact i'm only dealing with one pickerview. I know it sounds a bit confusing but I'm including all the code. Thank you in advance. list and list2 are NSMutableArrays list has 4 items list2 has 5 items There error: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (4) beyond bounds (4)' -(NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return 1; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return 1; } else{ return 0; } } -(NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return [list count]; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return [list2 count]; } else{ return 0; } } -(NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component{ if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView1 ]){ return [list objectAtIndex:row]; } else if([thePickerView isEqual:pickerView2]){ return [list2 objectAtIndex:row]; } else{ return 0; } } - (void)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)thePickerView didSelectRow:(NSInteger)row inComponent:(NSInteger)component { NSLog(@"Selected item %@. • UIView animation only animating some of the things I ask it to

    - by Ben
I have a series of (say) boxes on the screen in a row, all subviews of my main view. Each is a UIView. I want to shift them all left and have a new view also enter the screen from the right in lockstep. Here's what I'm doing: // First add a dummy view offscreen UIView * stagingView = /* make this view, which sets up its width/height */ CGRect frame = [stagingView frame]; frame.origin.x = /* just off the right side of the screen */; [stagingView setFrame:frame]; [self stagingView]; And then I set up animations in one block for all of my subviews (which includes the one I just added): [UIView beginAnimations:@"shiftLeft" context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(_animationDidStop:context:)]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; for (UIView * view in [self subviews]) { CGRect frame = [view frame]; frame.origin.x -= (frame.size.width + viewPadding); [view setFrame:frame]; } [UIView commitAnimations]; Here's what I expect: The (three) views already on screen get shifted left and the newly staged view marches in from the right at the same time. Here's what happens: The newly staged view animates in exactly as expected, and the views already on the screen do not appear to move at all! (Or possibly they jump without animation to their end locations). And! If I comment out the whole business of creating the new subview offscreen... the ones onscreen do animate correctly! Huh? (Thanks!)

  • UITableView - Select nearest row after row deletion.

    - by sunnycmf
like build in apple notes app, after you swipe to delete the selected row, it will select the nearest available row automatically. The logic should be: if row count 0 then if deleted_row == last row then select deleted_row_index-1 row else select deleted_row_index+1 row end end i have try to implement the above logic in the commitEditingStyle event, but the selection fail. the selectRowAtIndexPath logic just don't work in this event, if i apply it in a button, it works. any idea?
