  • Defines JEE 5 the handling of commit error using bean managed transactions?

    I'm using glassfish 2.1 and 2.1.1. If I've a bean method annotated by @TransactionAttribute(value = TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW). After doing some JPA stuff the commit fails in the afterCompletion-Phase of JTS. GlassFish logs this failure only. And the caller of this bean method has no chance to know something goes wrong. So I wonder, if there is any definition how a jee 5 server has to handle exceptions while commiting. I would expect any runtime exception. I'm using stateless beans. With SessionSynchronisation I could get the commit failue, if I use statefull beans. Is it possible to intercept, so I can throw an exception, that I've declared in my interface?     I'm using the RDS database from amazon with a some very big tables, and yesterday I started to face 100% CPU utilisation on the server and a bunch of slow query logs that were not happening before.     Hi all, I'm working on getting a simple lighting right on my OpenGL ES iPhone scene. I'm displaying a simple object centered on the origin, and using an arcball to rotate it by touching the screen. All this works nicely, except I try to add one fixed light (fixed w.r.t. eye position) and it is badly screwed: the whole object (an icosahedron in this example) is lit uniformly, i.e. it all appears in the same color.     Heya, I need to set up some SET options in Oracle SQLplus command line program each time I use it, such as SET HEADING OFF and the likes to beautify my results. I found that I always have to input each line separately so Set different options and this is becoming annoying since I need to access it many times a day. I found that there's no way to separate different SET commands with semicolumns because it doesn't accept it: SET HEADING OFF; SET LINESIZE 100; returns an error A solution could be adding them to a control script and create a shell alias, but I know control scripts execute and then exit and don't return you control over the command line. So, anybody knows another solution? Or am I missing something?

    In Oracle Lite, you can create a SNAPSHOT table which is like a normal table except that it tracks changes to itself. The syntax is CREATE SNAPSHOT TABLE tblWhatever ... and you can perform CRUD operations on it like a normal table. To get the change information, you query the table like this: SELECT * FROM tblWhatever + WHERE ... which returns all the rows in the table (including deleted ones) meeting the WHERE clause, and you can access each row's row_state column as a normal field (which is invisible to a normal SELECT * FROM tblWhatever WHERE ... query). Is there some way to do the same thing with Sql Compact Edition (3.5) - i.e. create a table that tracks changes without using RDA?

  • Difference in select for update of ... in Oracle Database 10g and 11g

    Hi, I found out that Oracle Database 10g and 11g treat the following PL/SQL block differently (I am using scott schema for convenience): DECLARE v_ename bonus.ename%TYPE; BEGIN SELECT b.ename INTO v_ename FROM bonus b JOIN emp e ON b.ename = e.ename JOIN dept d ON d.deptno = e.deptno WHERE b.ename = 'Scott' FOR UPDATE OF b.ename; END; / While in 10g (10.2) this code ends successfully (well NO_DATA_FOUND exception is raised but that is expected), in 11g (11.2) it raises exception "column ambiguously defined". And that is definitely not expected. It seems like it does not take into account table alias because I found out that when I change the column in FOR UPDATE OF e.empno (also does not work) to e.mgr (which is unique) it starts working. So is this some error in 11g? Any thoughts?

    Is there a way to give a subquery in Oracle 11g an alias like: select * from (select client_ref_id, request from some_table where message_type = 1) abc, (select client_ref_id, response from some_table where message_type = 2) defg where abc.client_ref_id = def.client_ref_id; Otherwise is there a way to join the two subqueries based on the client_ref_id. I realize there is a self join, but on the database I am running on a self join can take up to 5 min to complete (there is some extra logic in the actual query I am running but I have determined the self join is what is causing the issue). The individual subqueries only take a few seconds to complete by them selves. The self join query looks something like: select st.request, st1.request from some_table st, some_table st1 where st.client_ref_id = st1.client_ref_id;

  • How do I run Eclipse using Oracle's new 1.7 JDK for the Mac?

    I'm trying to get the new 1.7 JDK working with Eclipse (this is Oracle's official release). I don't mean just pointing Eclipse to it so you can use it in projects, this works fine, but actually making Eclipse run using the 1.7 JVM. I've moved the new JVM to the top of the list in Java Preferences, but Eclipse still starts with 1.6. If I disable 1.6 in Java Preferences I get a dialog immediately after I double-click on Eclipse saying "Failed to create the Java Virtual Machine". edit: I added the following to my eclipse.ini just before the -vmargs: -vm /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.7.0.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/java Yet in the Eclipse installation details dialog I still see: java.runtime.version=1.6.0_31-b04-415-11M3646 edit 2: here are the contents of my eclipse.ini file: https://gist.github.com/2512578

  • Is Berkeley DB XML a viable database backend?

    Apparently, BDB-XML has been around since at least 2003 but I only recently stumbled upon it on Oracle's website: Berkeley DB XML. Here's the blurb: Oracle Berkeley DB XML is an open source, embeddable XML database with XQuery-based access to documents stored in containers and indexed based on their content. Oracle Berkeley DB XML is built on top of Oracle Berkeley DB and inherits its rich features and attributes. Like Oracle Berkeley DB, it runs in process with the application with no need for human administration. Oracle Berkeley DB XML adds a document parser, XML indexer and XQuery engine on top of Oracle Berkeley DB to enable the fastest, most efficient retrieval of data. To me it seems that the underlying ideas are technically sound and probably more mature than the newer document-based DBs like CouchDB or MongoDB. It has support for C, C++, Ruby and Perl, as far as I can determine. It even has HA-capabilities like automatic replication using a master/slave model with automatic election. However, I can't seem to find any projects that use it. Is there something fundamentally wrong with it? Is the license too onerous? Is it too complicated? Why is it not being used?

    There is a strange thing on my server which has a mysql running on it. The QPS is more than 4000 but TPS is less than 20. The server load is more than 80 and cpu usr is more than 86% but iowait is less than 8%. The disk iops is more than 16000 and util of disk is more than 99%. When the QPS decreases, the load decreases, the cpu iowait increases. All the software seems to be there by default on Server 2012 and my hardware meets the reqs. Copy the installation media to the local drive and try to install from that (rather than a DVD). This produced the same error. Based on another error message, I installed .NET 4.0 (which apparently is not on Server 2012 out of the box). Same error. Install from command line.     I have a development server with 3 instances: Default, A and B. It is a physical server, non clustered. Whenever the syspolicy_purge_history job runs at 2 am, I get failed login alerts. Looking at the job steps, all are successfully completed. It appears that some point during the step "Erase Phantom System Health Records" is when the failed logins occur. syspolicy_purge_history on instance B works OK. syspolicy_purge_history on the Default instance seems to want to connect to instance B, resulting in: Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. Login failed for user 'Machinename\sqlsvc-B'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>] . No errors are reported by Powershell. syspolicy_purge_history on the A instance seems to want to connect to the Default instance resulting in Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11.   • "Dictionary problem." Error with VMPlayer

    I'm pretty new to using vmware virtualization (been a virtualbox user) so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I recently got an external usb disk containing a vm for a client, downloaded vmplayer, set it up with "Open a Virtual Machine", ran it, easy as pie. After working with it a bit this morning, I shut the VM down and now trying to start it back up again I get this: I tried removing the vm from my library, now it happens whenever I try to add it back in. In the meantime, I can still access other virtual machines so it seems like the problem might be with the virtual disk. So two questions: This is obviously not a very helpful error message. Where can I go to get more information? My Application EventLog doesn't contain anything from VMWare. What steps can I take to fix the problem? Edit: A couple more pieces of information. I did not take any snapshots. I don't think VM Player even has that ability. I have a zip file of (what I assume) is the state of the VM when it was sent to me. I cannot unzip it as it is huge and simply requires more HD space than I have available but I did extract the vmx file and examine it. Other than the UUIDs and the fact that mine reads cleanShutdown = "FALSE" they are identical.     I'm new to networking and was looking for some assistance. First off I'm using packet tracer to diagram my scenario as I will be receiving my equipment next week to deploy. Hardware to be used: 2 catalyst 3560 switches all connect to a sonic wall router I have two companies that work in the same office space. I need to keep these companies separate on their own vlan. They will however need to share the phone system. (Packet tracer file uploaded to give those who have the time to see what I put together.) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/86234623/network%20build.pkt Here is my current test scenario: on switch 0 I have: company A on vlan 2 computers 172.16.1.100 and 101 255.255.0.0 FA0/10 FA0/11 company B on vlan 3 computers 172.16.2.102, 255.255.0.0 FA0/12 PBX on a trunk port 172.16.0.5, 255.255.0.0 FA0/5 trunk port on FA0/1 to connect the switches on switch 1 I have: company A on vlan 2 computers 172.16.1.102, 255.255.0.0 company B on vlan 3 computers 172.16.2.100 and 101, 255.255.0.0 trunk port on FA0/1 to connect the switches I can ping the respective computers on the same vlan but cant ping company A to B which is what I want. However neither company can talk (ping) the PBX.     I have a PHP application using these components: Apache 2.2.3-31 on Centos 5.4 PHP 5.2.10 Xdebug 2.0.5 with Remote Debugging enabled APC 3.0.19 Doctrine ORM for PHP 1.2.1 using Query Caching and Results Caching via APC MySQL 5.0.77 using Query Caching I've noticed that when I start up Apache, I eventually end up 10 child processes. As time goes on, each process will grow in memory until each one approaches 10% of available memory, which begins to slow the server to a crawl since together they grow to take up 100% of memory. How can I track down which part of my app is causing the memory leak? What tools can I use to see how the memory usage is growing inside the httpd process and what is contributing to it?

B. the other lan pci card that is connected to pc with xp is like this : 192.168.2.11 255.255.255.0 0.0.0.0 empty empry computer name : cougar workgroup : nethome homeNetwork is disabled (i think that is 4 2 pc's with 7 os not xp) every thing is off in network options except file & printer sharing in public area ===================================================================== pc with xp os is like this : 192.168.2.12 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.11 (mean gateway) 4.2.2.4 8.8.8.8 computer name : tiger workgroup : nethome ===================================================================== at last my little net is ok... mean both have internet , both can see each other by their ip (\\192.168.2.11 or \\192.168.2.12) my problem is when in pc with xp type \\cougar it shows an error about network path! but in pc with 7 \\tiger works perfec. what is the problem in system with xp ? in few days ago this network was ok (search by computer name) when both os were xp , so there is no problem with my cable or devices. another problem is i can not find tiger in my network list in 7 pc \ why? is something wrong with my network? thanks 4 future advance best regards
