• SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server

  I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? • JDBC programms running long time performance issue

  My program has an issue with Oracle query performance, I believe the SQL have good performance, because it returns quickly in SQLPlus. But when my program has been running for a long time, like 1 week, the SQL query (using JDBC) becomes slower (In my logs, the query time is much longer than when I originally started the program). When I restart my program, the query performance comes back to normal. I think it is could be something wrong with the way I use the preparedStatement, because the SQL I'm using does not use placeholders "?" at all. Just a complex select query. The query process is done by a util class. Here is the pertinent code building the query: public List<String[]> query(String sql, String[] args) { Connection conn = null; conn = openConnection(); conn.setAutocommit(true); .... PreparedStatement preStatm = null; ResultSet rs = null; ....//set preparedstatment arg code rs = preStatm.executeQuery(); .... finally{ //close rs //close prestatm //close connection } } In my case, the args is always null, so it just passes a query sql to this query method. Is that possible this way could slow down the DB query after program long time running? Or I should use statement instead, or just pass args with "?" in the SQL? How can I find out the root cause for my issue? Thanks.

• Isn't an Iterator in c++ a kind of a pointer?

  Ok this time I decided to make a list using the STL. I need to create a dedicated TCP socket for each client. So everytime I've got a connection, I instantiate a socket and add a pointer to it on a list. list<MyTcp*> SocketList; //This is the list of pointers to sockets list<MyTcp*>::iterator it; //An iterator to the list of pointers to TCP sockets. Putting a new pointer to a socket was easy, but now every time the connection ends I should disconnect the socket and delete the pointer so I don't get a huge memory leak, right? well.. • Get Data from Windows Form into C# program

  I want my C# program to collect data. Then, when the OK button is clicked, I want this data to be loaded into my program -- such as into variables in Main(), or into data members of a class I have constructed, and I want the form to then go away -- not be hidden, but actually closed. Alas, read as I might in the book I have, the data collected by the form stays in the form, execution proceeds within the form, and the same form is used to display the result of the program's computations. Sheesh. All I want is to capture the form's information, close the form and proceed with my program.   I've saved a response from an outside server to a text file, so I don't need to keep running connection requests. Instead, perhaps I can use the text file for my manipulation purposes, until I'm read for re-connecting again. • Waiting for data via select not working

  I'm currently working on a project which involves multiple clients connected to a server and waiting for data. I'm using select and monitoring the connection for incoming data. However, the client just continues to print nothing, acting as if select has discovered incoming data. Perhaps I'm attacking this wrong?   Does anyone know any ontology which specifies opening hours of places? For example, I have a museum, which has 2 seasons. For low season (season start and end is specified), it is opened 10.00 - 18.00 on weekdays and 10-16 on saturday (on sunday it's closed), for high season it's opened 10-20 on weekdays and 10-18 on weekend. If there is no ontology, may-be people have experience, how best to structure information like that? I'm describing information in RDF.   I am working on a server application which receives data over a TCP socket in an XMPP-like XML format, i.e. every child of the <root> element essentially represents one separate request (stanza). The connection is closed as soon as </root> is received. I do know that I must use a stream parser like SAX, somehow. Though, for convenience, I'd prefer to have a tree-like interface to access each stanza's child elements. (The data sent with every request is not large so I think it makes sense to read each stanza as a whole.) What's the best way to realize that in Python (preferably v3)?   I have 2 sets of depth point measurements, for example: > a depth value 1 2 2 2 4 3 3 6 4 4 8 5 5 16 40 6 18 45 7 20 58 > b depth value 1 10 10 2 12 20 3 14 35 I want to show both groups in one figure plotted with depth and with different symbols as you can see here plot(a$value, a$depth, type='b', col='green', pch=15) points(b$value, b$depth, type='b', col='red', pch=14) The plot seems okay, but the annoying part is that the green symbols are all connected (though I want connected lines also). I want connection only when one group has a continued data points at 2 m interval i.e. the symbols should be connected with a line from 2 to 8 m (green) and then group B symbols should be connected from 10-14 m (red) and again group A symbols should be connected (green), which means I do NOT want to see the connection between 8 m sample with the 16 m for group A. An easy solution may be dividing the group A into two parts (say, A-shallow and A-deep) and then plotting A-shallow, B, and A-deep separately. But this is completely impractical because I have thousands of data points with hundreds of groups i.e. I have to produce many depth profiles. Therefore, there has to be a way to program so that dots are NOT connected beyond a prescribed frequency/depth interval (e.g. 2 m in this case) for a particular group of samples. Any idea?

Only user titles and id are returned by the server. Click on a title starts activity B. B: A form to edit an article. Article is fetched from server. When the user hits OK, modifications are sent to the server and activity closed. When the user go back to activity A, I would like to update the article title without any additional web request. I was thinking about the following solution: When article is modified, send a broadcast event with article id and new attributes values.   PROBLEM HISTORY: Now I use Windows Media Player SDK 9 to play AVI files in my desktop application. It works well on Windows XP but when I try to run it on Windows 7 I caught an error - I can not remove AVI file immediately after playback. The problem is that there are opened file handles exist. On Windows XP I have 2 opened file handles during the playing file and they are closed after closing of playback window but on Windows 7 I have already 4 opened handles during the playing file and 2 of them remain after the closing of playback window. They are become free only after closing the application. QUESTION: How can I solve this problem? How to remove the file which has opened handles? May be exists something like "force deletion"? I want to do that like here on StackOverflow where we are warned without reloading the page or like in facebook where you are warned about new messages/notifications without reloading.   I have a C# WinForms application that has "uiAccess" set to "True" in it's manifest file. When I try to start/debug it in Visual Studio 2008 SP1 under Windows 7 x64 (RTM) I get this error: Running an Accessibility application requires following the steps described in Help. The help button is a broken link, and clicking ok just closes the application. It is digitally signed, and I can start it just fine in Windows Explorer. • problem with application after moving from local to hosting server

  I have an application developed with CodeIgniter that works perfectly on my local server. After uploading it to the hosting server I've run into few issues that I can't figure out. I removed the index.php from URL by changing $config['index_page'] = "" in config.php file and adding rewriterule in .htaccess file. Everything worked fine on a local server. On hosting server the webstie wouldn't load until I reverted those changes to defaults. Now the strangest thing. I test the website and all pages load fine except of one. When I point to that page the browser responds with "Connection closed by remote server" (That's from Opera, other browser gave similar response). After closing the browser when I try to load the website again, now it won't even load any page showing me CodeIgniter's styled error "404 Page Not Found" What he heck?

• How can I get 100% test coverage in a Perl module that uses DBI?

  I am a bit new to the Devel::Cover module, but have found it very useful in making sure I am not missing tests. A problem I am running into is understanding the report from Devel::Cover. I've looked at the documentation, but can't figure out what I need to test to get 100% coverage. I do have some tests that test for a successful connection, which is why I think I have 33% coverage, but if I'm reading it correctly, cover thinks I am not testing the "|| croak" part of the statement. I thought I was, with the "throws_ok" test, but obviously I am missing something. Does anyone have advice on how I can test my DBI-connect line successfully? Thanks!

• Client side page call/scrape?

  Here is the problem: I have a web application - a frequently changing notification system - that runs on a series of local computers. The application refreshes every couple of seconds to display the new information. The computers only display info, and do not have keyboards or ANY input device. The issue is that if the connection to the server is lost (say updates are installed and a server must be rebooted), a page not found error is displayed). We must then either reboot all computers that are running this app, OR add a keyboard and refresh the browser, OR try to access each computer remotely and refresh the browser. None of these are good options and result in a lot of frustration. I cannot change the actual application OR server environment. So what I need is some way to test the call to the application, and if an error is returned or it times out, continue trying every minute or so until the connection is reestablished. My idea is to create a client-side page scraper, that makes a JS request to the application (which displays basic HTML), and can run locally on the machine, no server required. If the scrape returns the correct content, it displays it. If not it continues to request the page until the actual page content is returned. Is this possible? What is the best way to do it?

• Why do my Xcode default font starts to look ugly after some time, until I restart?

  I plugged in an external monitor. All resolutions match perfectly. MacBookPro LCD is closed. After about 10 minutes my fonts in Xcode start to look very bad. Only in Xcode. When I restart the mac and don't use an external monitor, fonts look all right again. When I attach the monitor again, fonts look nice. Then I close XCode and reopen it: Fonts suck. All other fonts look great. It seems like Xcode isn't antialiasing them properly after something happens. For my observation it happens when I quit and reopen Xcode while an external monitor is in use. Only way to fix it then is to completely reboot. Is there a fix for this problem?
