  Più di 100 professsionisti -  manager della funzione Amministrazione, Finanza e Controllo in azienda e consulenti del settore - hanno partecipato al Workshop, organizzato da CUOA e Oracle Hyperion, in collaborazione con Adacta Studio Associato. E' stata un'occasione unica per approfondire i temi della pianificazione "estesa" e del controllo di gestione nelle imprese italiane - piccole, medie e grandi - alternando chiavi di lettura diverse (accademica, consulenziale, tecnologico-applicativa e utenti) ma tutte legate dal filo conduttore dell'evoluzione dei modelli, degli strumenti e dell'utilizzo dei sistemi evoluti di planning e budgeting economico-finanziario e patrimoniale. Una particolare attenzione è stata posta sul rapporto banca-impresa alla luce dell'attuale crisi e di come i sistemi innovativi di performance management e business intelligence possono aiutare il management nel ridisegno del sistema di finanziamento delle aziende e nella negoziazione con i diversi stakeholders. • Troubleshooting wireless network connectivity

  I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10, and I'm running into trouble keeping my wireless connection alive. After rebooting, I get about 5-10 minutes of a good speed connection; afterwards, the connection just zeroes out. I've gotten around to stirring up a shell script that gives me another 10 minutes or so of connectivity. Script contents below: #! /bin/bash sudo ifconfig wlan0 up echo "Enabling wireless device . . ." sleep 5 sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid MyNetworkName echo "Connecting to network. . ." sleep 10 sudo dhclient wlan0 echo "Getting IP address. . ." sleep 5 echo "Done. Closing window. . ." sleep 5 Shortly after running the line "sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid MyNetworkName" from the script, I notice the speed pick up. Other computers in my home running Windows XP are not affected by this problem, so all indications point to my Ubuntu machine. Does anyone have any pointers as to how to resolve this?

• The Differences between MAC Address and Network Layer Address

  A Mac address is a fixed number associated with a NICs onboard memory. It is initially assigned at the factory. The MAC address is broken up into 2 parts. The first part is the Block id which is six digit sequences that is unique to each vender. The second section is the device id which is created and assigned by the manufacture. A Network layer address is different because there format based on the type of protocol and network used. Also, there unique id is based on a hierarchal addressing theme on subsets of data  and narrowing it down. Just like in an address you can narrow down your house, for example: Florida, Boca Raton, 33428, SW 53th street states that you live in Florida. You also live in the area located in Florida called Boca Raton and you are also in the area of 33428 which is located in Boca Raton. Finally you live on SW 8th street which is in the area of 33428 which is located in Boca Raton which is also located in Florida.

• Reasonable technological solutions to create CRM using .NET eventually Java

  My background(If it's too long, just skip it please ; ) ): I am Java programmer(because of demand): mostly teacher for other students, worked on few thesis for others, but during my journey I discovered that .NET and Microsoft's tools are on at least two levels higher than Java and its tools so I want to learn more about them. I programmed little bit on Windows Phone(NFC Tags, TCP Clients, guitar tuner using internal microphone, simple RSS), used WPF, integrated WPF with Windows Forms, Apple Bonjour(.NET), I have expierience with IP cameras and with unusal problems, I learn Android, but I don't like it at all. Problem: I was asked by my friend to create CRM for small new company. There will maximum 20 workers in the company working at computers in few cities in the country(Poland). They just want to store contracts with the clients and client's data. I am not sure what exacly they do but probably sell apartments so there will be at most few thousands of contracts to store in far future. Now I am totally new to CRM but I want to learn. I have few questions: Should the data be stored on a server in the company's building running 24/7 or cloud. If cloud which one? Should I use ASPX or WPF. I read one topic about it but as far as I know aspx sites can be viewed from every device with internet browser: tablets, phones(Android, WP, iOS) and computers at the same time- so the job is done once and for all(Am I right?), I don't know nothing about aspx. Can WPF be also used in manner that does not need to port it for other platforms?

• cannot mount root filesystem on 10.04

  I tried to apply the recommendation of question: Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) After running that command: sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev I get this error message: mount: mount point /mnt/dev does not exist fdisk -l returns /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5 do I need to mount sda2 and sda5? Edited after @psusi's comment: /dev/sda1 is the boot file system It seems that I need to mount sda2 or sda5. • Updating games for iOS 6 and new iPhone/iPod Touch

  Say I have a game that runs full-screen on iPhone 4S and older devices. The balance of the game is just right for the 480 x 320 screen and associated aspect ratio. Now I want to update my game to run full-screen on the new iPhone/iPod Touch where the aspect ratio of the screen is different. It seems like this can be challenging for some games in terms of maintaining the "balance". For example if the extra screen space was just tacked onto the right side of Jet Pack Joyride the balance would be thrown off since the user now has more time to see and react to obstacles. Also it could be challenging in terms of code maintenance. Perhaps Jet Pack Joyride would slightly increase the speed of approaching obstacles when the game is played on newer devices. However this quickly becomes messy when extra conditional statements are added all over the code. One solution is to have some parameters that are set in once place at start-up depending on the device type. What are some strategies for updating iOS games to run on the new iPhone and iPod Touch?

• Evaluating a Programmer for Startup

  Hi, I have sorted through the previous questions and couldn't find a specific answer to the following (and thank you in advance): I have fully developed my idea on paper and am looking to move forward with it, create it, and grow it. Since I am non-technical, I am looking to either partner or employ (I would pay for his/her services) for a very talented and well-rounded programmer to help create and develop the project. I am looking for someone that can act as a IT manager/CTO and get the job done while I use my resources to develop and deploy the strategy, deal with the business side of things, raise capital, grow, etc. However, due to my lack of IT knowledge, it is always hard for me to differentiate between a good and bad programmer and therefore only find out if he/she is good or not when it is too late. So my question that I have been asking everyone around me is "How do I assess whether the programmer is good or not if I cannot evaluate them myself?" and "Is there any website that reviews and rates programmers?" I have asked many to refer me to talented programmers but all are either not local (important for me to work side by side with them), happily employed or working on their own startup. I have also asked these programmers to help me find others but none seem to be able to help. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you so much, HelpJ

• chrome memory and cpu footprint

  I've searched the forums for an answer but I couldn't find quite the answer I was looking for [1] , so I thought I it could as well be of interest to more people around here. I carry out a big part of my job on the browser (or for the browser, if you want to put it that way). I tend to use Chrome, because it's got natively many of the newest features that I need (DevTools stuff, mainly but not only). BTW, I'm usually running the last available Chrome version/build on a desktop Vaio with 4GB RAM and dual core CPU and Ubuntu 12.04 as distro and Gnome as window manager. So, I was curious about a) why does Chrome spawn so many threads even opening only three of four tabs and b) is there any way to allocate more memory to Chrome to prevent its performance from degrading? Thanks in advance, Nacho PS [1] I found threads about Chrome freezing or running out of memory but not about the reasons for this being so or for avoiding it to happen. PPS Of course, I could always buy a newer and more capable machine and that is exactly what I'm trying to evaluate: is this a question of outdated hardware or the problem will keep appearing on any (decently but not hugely sized) machine?

  When I try to stream youtube videos on my ubuntu 11.04, they don't stream smoothly. They buffer well and are choppy. • Unable to start lightdm but can startx

  I am trying to make my own Live USB and I have successfully generated an ISO file with a newly installed, configured and customized Xubuntu 12.04 LTS installation. My problem is that, no matter I boot the ISO in VirtualBox or in GRUB with loopback, it just cannot start the lightdm. When booting, I can see the log messages on the screen, it stucks at Stopping System V compablities or Configuring Network security. And tty7 is frozen... If I switch to tty1, I can get a logged-in shell as ubuntu@ubuntu. The weird thing is: When I type sudo start lightdm or just sudo lightdm, it will switch to tty7 and the screen flashes. Then nothing happened. Return to tty1 and I can see lightdm running, process xxxx. But the process does not exist. It was just crashed immediately I think. (That's why the screen flashes.) However, when I type startx, I can get into the desktop! That's amazing for me. I am not very clear about the relationship between X Server and Display Manager, but I think lightdm is running when I see the desktop! Then, what's wrong with sudo start lightdm? I use this command every time I power on my laptop since I have a text parameter added in grub.cfg. It never "crashed immediately". I need to use sudo start lightdm because it gets me into "Xubuntu Session" instead of "Xfce Session", the prior is more beautiful... Could anyone help?

The majority of papers for this year's conference have already been selected, however, there are some presentation slots still available so the OpenWorld team are giving you the chance to vote on which papers you want to see at this year's OpenWorld conference.The voting process has just opened and will close on June 20. I did a quick search on the list of sessions one paper really caught my eye: Case Study: Real-Time data warehousing and fraud detection with Oracle 11gR2 by Dr. Holger Friedrich. As a data warehouse product manager I would love to see this paper selected. I have attended a number of presentations over the years given by Holger and he is an excellent, knowledgeable and entertaining presenter. • How do I fix a garbled screen on a Gateway LT3103u?

  I've been having garbled screen problems on a Gateway LT3103u on Ubuntu for a while. I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 and continue to have issues. I installed xubuntu-desktop in case the issues had to do with the sophisticated GNOME graphics. The problem is less bad, but it's still there. After a few minutes of using XFCE, the screen gets garbled. I assume this has something to do with the graphics card, but I don't know how to go about troubleshooting something like this. Where should I start? First few restarts was graphic ok, then after few restarts begins suddenly be defective and it stay so. I must returned to 11.04 because this problem and I wait for 12.04. So I hope in this fix.

  I am trying to connect my machine to my work's entirely windows network and I am having a few issues: Whenever I try to access the server, the authentication dialog just keeps popping back up. I cannot connect to the printers (it says connecting to device failed) I have tried setting up samba, winbind, kerberos, likewise open all to no avail. I have a feeling I am just setting them up wrong. • Restoring GRUB2 on Software RAID 0 after Windows 7 wiped it using LiveCD

  I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my system. However, I need to install Windows 7 back, and I expect that it would alter GRUB and it did. Right now, my partition on my Software RAID 0 looks like this: nvidia_acajefec1 is Ubuntu 10.10 and nvidia_acajefec3 is Windows 7. I've been following some guides around and I am always stuck at GRUB not able to detect the usual RAID content. I've tried running: sudo grub > root (hd0,0) GRUB complains it couldn't find my hard disk. So I tried: find (hd0,0) And it complains that it couldn't find anything. So I tried: find /boot/grub/stage1 It said "file not found". Here's the text from the console: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ grub Probing devices to guess BIOS drives. This may take a long time. However, ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo dmraid -r /dev/sdb: nvidia, "nvidia_acajefec", stripe, ok, 488397166 sectors, data@ 0 /dev/sda: nvidia, "nvidia_acajefec", stripe, ok, 488397166 sectors, data@ 0 So what now? Do you have an idea for how to make fdisk see my RAID array on live cd (Ubuntu 10.10)? Honestly, I am lost, very lost in trying to restore GRUB2 on this software RAID 0 system right now.

  Is there any way to kill a zombie process without reboot?Here is how it happens: I wanted to download a 12GB torrent.After adding the .torrent file, transmission turned into a zombie process.I tried ktorrent too.Same behavior.Finally I could download the file using µTorrent but after closing the program, it turns into a zombie as well. I tried using kill skill and pkill with different options and -9 signal but no success. In some answers in web I found out killing the parent can kill the zombie, but killing wine didn't help either. • Distributing an Android game with plugins via the market

  I'm new to Android development, and was wondering how the following could be achieved within the confines of the Android market as a distribution channel: One main application, which handles the main menu, networking, high scores, etc. Several games which can be launched from the main menu, which all work within the same eco system. The main application is not just a pseudo launcher for other games, these different games will share high scores and other achievements/preferences. In a traditional package management system such as apt, pacman or yum, this could be handled quite happily through dependencies. This does not appear to be possible via the Android market. The closest I've seen is when apps scan to check if the required app is installed, and if not, launches the market and asks the user to download the app. This sounds like a very messy solution. It also begs the question, would they download the game (plugin) first, which then downloads the main shell application? Or would they download the main shell application, and when they navigate to a menu item which says "Play game", then it scans for any installed games, and if none exist, redirects to the market? Also, I'm not even sure if it is possible to dig up the package from another application on the device, and start invoking classes from within (e.g. when you want to launch the game (plugin)) A final option is just to have a 3rd component which is a .jar that each game includes, which effectively contains the entire shell application. Then each game would appear to have the same menu, but it would become a nightmare as soon as you want to update the menu component and have to re-release each game. It would be especially worse if other people released games (plugins) based on the same framework and didn't update them. Is there any other options which I haven't thought of? Has anyone else solved this or seen a solution in any apps they've installed (doesn't have to be games)? cheers.

  I have seen many Sharepoint Newbies cracking their head to create a Console/Windows  application in VS2010 and make it talk to Sharepoint 2010 Server. I had the same problem when i started with Sharepoint in the begining. It is important for you to acknowledge that SharePoint 2010 is based on .NET Framework version 3.5 and not version 4.0. In VS 2010 when you create a Console/Windows application, Make Sure you select .Net Framework 3.5 in the New Project Dialog Window.If you have missed while creating new Project Go to the Application tab of project properties and verify that .NET Framework Version 3.5 is select as the Target Framework. Now that you have selected the correct framework, will it work? Nope if the application is configured as x86 one it will not work. Sharepoint is a 64 Bit application and when you create a windows application to talk to Sharepoint it should also be a 64 Bit one. Go to Configuration Manager, Select x64. If x64 is not available select <New…> and in the New Solution Platform dialog box select x64 as the new platform copying settings from x86 and checking the Create new project platforms check box. This is not applicable if you are making a console application to talk to sharepoint with Client Object Model.

• How do you properly organize a commercial game?

  For the past months I've been studying programming and I've finally learned how to code, but one thing that is confusing me is how to properly organize the design of a game project - code wise. The game I'm building is a pretty standard commercial game. It has the basic components of a normal game: A world, characters and items interacting with each other and all of this is run by game manager. Basically you play as a hero in a world and do stuff. Fight, explore and interact. Think of your standard adventure game that starts off with an intro, goes to the menu system, then gets into the game and back to the menu. Pretty much like 99% of any commercial game or otherwise serious game projects. Thats what I'm aiming at. The problem is: How do you properly code a commercial game architecture? How do you organize it? How do you make it not become unmaintainable spaghetti code? What specific things to keep in mind when building this, codewise?
