  • Problems crossing the boundary between protected greasemonkey execution space and the unsafeWindow l

    - by Chilly
    Hi guys. Here is my problem: I've registered some callbacks into a Yahoo event driven webpage (betfair.com market views) and am trapping the betsPlaced events with a handler. So far so simple. Next stage is to get the event back into greasemonkey land, and while I know that from greasemoney space you can call unsafeWindow.stuff, there is no reverse operation (by design). So if I want to send the contents of the event over, say, a cometd queue, my carefully set up jquery, greasemonkey, YUI2, betfair environment fails by telling me that unsafeWindow processes cant call GM_ajax stuff. This is obviously safe and sane, but it basically stops me doing what I want to do. Has anyone tried doing this (ignore the cometd stuff, just general ajax calls) and succeeded? I've had a look at pages like this: http://wiki.greasespot.net/0.7.20080121.0%2B_compatibility but it doesnt appear to work for all the calls.

  • Faking Fixed Position in IE6

    - by Andrew
    I have a site that utilizes a bottom fixed position masthead here: http://www.entheospartners.com/newsite/ This setup works great in all browsers except IE6, which doesn't support fixed positioning in the least, so here's what I've done: When an IE6 user comes to the page, I make the determination if scrolling is necessary using this bit of code: var windowHeight = $(window).height(); var totalHeight = windowHeight - 100; // where 100 is the sum of the top nav height + footer height var contentHeight; if($('#subpage-content-small').length) { // main content div for a three column layout contentHeight = $('#subpage-content-small').height(); }; if($('#subpage-content-wide').length) { // main content div for a two column layout contentHeight = $('#subpage-content-wide').height(); }; if(contentHeight > totalHeight) { $('#container-container').css({ 'overflow-y' : "scroll", 'height' : totalHeight }); }; ...which calculates everything correctly, puts the scrollbars where they need to be (flush right), and sets them to the appropriate height. The problem is that the scrollbars don't move the content. I can't say that I've ever seen anything quite like this before, so I'm hoping someone else on here has. Thanks in advance! PS - Obviously, this needs to be looked at in IE6 for troubleshooting, which I know will be as painful for you as it is for me.

  • Chrome: Dynamically created <style> tag does not have content?

    - by Shizhidi
    Hello. I encountered a weird problem when trying to write a cross-browser script. Basically my header looks like this <html> <head> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> Then in the body tag: <p id="hey">Hey</p> <input type="button" value="attachStyle" name="attachStyle" onclick="attachStyle();"></input> <script> function attachStyle() { var strVar=""; strVar += "<style type='text\/css'>#hey {border:5px solid red;}<\/script>"; $("head").append(strVar); } </script> The button works in Firefox, but not in Chrome. When I looked at the html DOM elements in the developer tool, the style tag was inserted but without content, like this: <html> <head> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <style type='text/css'></script> </head> I'm curious as to what causes this? And how to create CSS style in a way that is cross-browser? Thanks!

  • Need some help with onClick and an if/else issue...

    - by Adam
    I have a menu with seven items. If you click the first item, div one shows. If you click any other item (2 through 7) div two shows. That's what I'm looking to do. I'm new at all this but am pretty sure it's an if/else function, such that if I click on <a id="1">, show the first div, else show the second div. I suppose I can do a hide/show to get back to the first div. I'm going to keep poking around, but if I can't find it, any help is surely appreciated.

  • How to open links in new window ONLY IF the check box is checked

    - by Travis
    Here is what i have so far. I have it so they open in new windows, but i want it only if the check box is checked... <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> function new() { if ( document.getElementById('checkbox').checked ) window.open( 'y', 'n', 't', 'New Window' ); } else { break; } var OpenNew = document.getElementById('opennew'); OpenNew.addEventListener('click', OpenWin, false ); </script> </head> <body> <p> <form name="test"> <p>Open link in a new window &nbsp; <input type="checkbox" id="checkbox" name="check" /></p> </form> </p> <p> <h2>My favorite Websites to visit</h2> <a href="http://www.youtube.com" target="new" id="y">Youtube</a><br /> <a href="http://www.newegg.com" target="new" id="n">Newegg</a><br /> <a href="http://www.twitch.tv" target="new" id="t">Twitch.tv</a><br /> </p> </body> </html> I am unsure how to actually do the if statement if it is checked then open. It does currently open in a new tab.. i just need it to be only when its checked. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • ExtJs Grid in TabPanel auto Fit issue.

    - by Jinah Adam
    Hi, I am having problems redering an grid in a a tab panel (Its made with Ext Designer.). the hierarchy is as follows , Viewport. - tabPanel - Panel - Container - Grid. This is how its displayed now Here is the code for viewport mainWindowUi = Ext.extend(Ext.Viewport, { layout: 'border', id: 'mainWindow', initComponent: function() { this.items = [ { xtype: 'panel', title: 'Navigation', region: 'west', width: 200, frame: true, split: true, titleCollapse: true, collapsible: true, id: 'navigation', items: [ { flex: 1, xtype: 'mytreepanel' } ] }, { xtype: 'tabpanel', layoutOnTabChange: true, resizeTabs: true, defaults: { layout: 'fit', autoScroll: true }, region: 'center', tpl: '', id: 'mainTabPanel', layoutConfig: { deferredRender: true } } ]; mainWindowUi.superclass.initComponent.call(this); } }); here is the code to create the tab.. (created from a nav panel programmatically) var currentTab = tabPanel.findById(node.id); // If not yet created, create the tab if (!currentTab){ currentTab = tabPanel.add({ title:node.id, id:node.id, closable:true, items:[{ xtype: 'phasePanel', layout: 'fit', autoscroll: true, }], autoScroll:true, }); } // Activate tab tabPanel.setActiveTab(currentTab); here is the code for the panel/container/grid PhasePanelUi = Ext.extend(Ext.Panel, { frame: true, layout: 'anchor', autoScroll: true, autoWidth: true, defaults: '', initComponent: function() { this.items = [ { xtype: 'container', autoScroll: true, layout: 'fit', defaults: { layout: 'fit', autoScroll: true }, id: 'gridHolder', items: [ { xtype: 'grid', title: 'Current Phases', store: 'PhaseStore', autoDestroy: false, viewConfig: '', deferRowRender: false, autoLoad: '', ref: '../phaseGrid', id: 'phaseGrid', columns: [ { xtype: 'gridcolumn', header: 'Name', dataIndex: 'name', sortable: true, width: 200 }, { xtype: 'gridcolumn', header: 'Estate', dataIndex: 'estate_name', sortable: true, width: 500 } ] } ] } ]; PhasePanelUi.superclass.initComponent.call(this); } }); i have tried all sorts of combinations. but just cant get the grid to render correctly any sort of assistance will be appreciated.

  • jquery document.ready multiple declaration

    - by Hendry H.
    I realized that I can specify $(document).ready(function(){}); more than once. Suppose like this $(document).ready(function(){ var abc = "1122"; //do something.. }); $(document).ready(function(){ var abc = "def"; //do something.. }); Is this standard ? Those codes work on my FF (16.0.2). I just a little afraid that other browser may not. What actually happen ? How jQuery handle those code ? Thanks.

  • jQuery-Ui Ajax Tabs bug?

    - by vsync
    I have a JSON that returns from the server which tabs to build, so I init them in my JS like this: $('#tabs').tabs( 'ajaxOptions', { timeout: 20000, error: function(xhr, status, index, anchor){ console.log( status, index, anchor ); } }) .tabs('add', item.CategoryLink, item.CategoryName); Thing is, when I click a tab, and before it is done loading I click another tab, the previous request is aborted and never called again when I click that first one again! this is very bad, because it obviously didn't fetch the request, so what gives? I tried bypassing this by setting: .tabs({ cache: false }) but this is a bad thing to do, because I don't want to have a request each time again... it should be cachced if response was sent. using jquery-ui 1.8.1

  • When a li is appended, does it not become a part of the ul "for real"?

    - by Noor
    I have right now this code: <ul><li class="listitem">text<li></ul> jQuery: $('.listitem').click(function() { $("#elname").text($(this).text()); $('#slists').css('visibility','hidden') $('#elname').css('visibility','visible') $('#elname').css('display','inline-block') }); This is supposed to hide a div and it does, but when I append items to the ul (with the class listitem) nothing happens with the appended item, the class it gets is correct, the title, and the value too. Can this have something to do with the code above being in the document ready function to do?

  • Prototype mouseleave for two elements

    - by TenJack
    I have created a small navigation element that is positioned right on top of another element. It is only shown when a user mousenters/mouseovers the main element. I am having some trouble with the prototype. I would like this small nav element to be hidden when a user mouses out of the main box, but I would also like the small nav element to remain visible if a user mouses out of the main box but mouses into the small nav at the same time. This is my attempt so far with some pseudo-code to hopefully explain: $('main_box').observe('mouseenter', function(){ $('small_div').show() }) $('main_box').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('small_div') then Event.stop() $('small_div').observe('mouseleave', function(){ if this element is $('main_box') Event.stop observe $('main_box') mouseleave else $('small_div').hide(); }) else $('small_div').hide(); }) The main thing I'm having trouble with is figuring out what element the mouse is over at a given point in time. Is there a way to do something like: on mouseleave do blah unless the mouse is over a specific element then do not do blah?

  • Dojo: dijit.form.DropDownButton content not positioned correctly

    - by Staale
    I have the following setup: <div dojoType="dijit.form.DropDownButton"> <span>Modify</span> <div dojoType="dijit.Menu"> <div dojoType="dijit.MenuItem">...</div> </div> </div> There is of course more to the final setup. The problem I Have is that if I scroll in the page, the popup menu under the DropDownButton comes much higher in the page. I suspect that it's subtracting the scrollOffset for the position off the popup, while in reality that is not needed. Anyone got any tips about how to fix this? I would prefer to use declerative html syntax for using Dojo widgets. == Fixed == I updated to dojo 1.4.2 and this got fixed then.

  • Video with transparent background on page above image background.

    - by fl00r
    Hi! I want to embed some video into my HTML page. As background I want to use big picture. And above it I want to insert loop video with (i.e.) walking man. So, can I embed video (without flash and any player controls) in page? Can I decode video with transparent background? Is there any codecs which support transparent background (alpha-channel)? Now I see this solutions: Making flash (that I don't want to use) Create gif animation (and it will be big file size and quite bad quality)

  • How to parse (infinite) nested object notation?

    - by kyogron
    I am currently breaking my head about transforming this object hash: "food": { "healthy": { "fruits": ['apples', 'bananas', 'oranges'], "vegetables": ['salad', 'onions'] }, "unhealthy": { "fastFood": ['burgers', 'chicken', 'pizza'] } } to something like this: food:healthy:fruits:apples food:healthy:fruits:bananas food:healthy:fruits:oranges food:healthy:vegetables:salad food:healthy:vegetables:onions food:unhealthy:fastFood:burgers food:unhealthy:fastFood:chicken food:unhealthy:fastFood:pizza In theory it actually is just looping through the object while keeping track of the path and the end result. Unfortunately I do not know how I could loop down till I have done all nested. var path; var pointer; function loop(obj) { for (var propertyName in obj) { path = propertyName; pointer = obj[propertyName]; if (pointer typeof === 'object') { loop(pointer); } else { break; } } }; function parse(object) { var collection = []; }; There are two issues which play each out: If I use recurse programming it looses the state of the properties which are already parsed. If I do not use it I cannot parse infinite. Is there some idea how to handle this? Regards

  • Permission denied to access property 'toString'

    - by Anders
    I'm trying to find a generic way of getting the name of Constructors. My goal is to create a Convention over configuration framework for KnockoutJS My idea is to iterate over all objects in the window and when I find the contructor i'm looking for then I can use the index to get the name of the contructor The code sofar (function() { constructors = {}; window.findConstructorName = function(instance) { var constructor = instance.constructor; var name = constructors[constructor]; if(name !== undefined) { return name; } var traversed = []; var nestedFind = function(root) { if(typeof root == "function" || traversed[root]) { return } traversed[root] = true; for(var index in root) { if(root[index] == constructor) { return index; } var found = nestedFind(root[index]); if(found !== undefined) { return found; } } } name = nestedFind(window); constructors[constructor] = name; return name; } })(); var MyApp = {}; MyApp.Foo = function() { }; var instance = new MyApp.Foo(); console.log(findConstructorName(instance)); The problem is that I get a Permission denied to access property 'toString' Exception, and i cant even try catch so see which object is causing the problem Fiddle http://jsfiddle.net/4ZwaV/

  • Generate syntax tree for simple math operations

    - by M28
    I am trying to generate a syntax tree, for a given string with simple math operators (+, -, *, /, and parenthesis). Given the string "1 + 2 * 3": It should return an array like this: ["+", [1, ["*", [2,3] ] ] ] I made a function to transform "1 + 2 * 3" in [1,"+",2,"*",3]. The problem is: I have no idea to give priority to certain operations. My code is: function isNumber(ch){ switch (ch) { case '0': case '1': case '2': case '3': case '4': case '5': case '6': case '7': case '8': case '9': case '.': return true; break; default: return false; break; } } function generateSyntaxTree(text){ if (typeof text != 'string') return []; var code = text.replace(new RegExp("[ \t\r\n\v\f]", "gm"), ""); var codeArray = []; var syntaxTree = []; // Put it in its on scope (function(){ var lastPos = 0; var wasNum = false; for (var i = 0; i < code.length; i++) { var cChar = code[i]; if (isNumber(cChar)) { if (!wasNum) { if (i != 0) { codeArray.push(code.slice(lastPos, i)); } lastPos = i; wasNum = true; } } else { if (wasNum) { var n = Number(code.slice(lastPos, i)); if (isNaN(n)) { throw new Error("Invalid Number"); return []; } else { codeArray.push(n); } wasNum = false; lastPos = i; } } } if (wasNum) { var n = Number(code.slice(lastPos, code.length)); if (isNaN(n)) { throw new Error("Invalid Number"); return []; } else { codeArray.push(n); } } })(); // At this moment, codeArray = [1,"+",2,"*",3] return syntaxTree; } alert('Returned: ' + generateSyntaxTree("1 + 2 * 3"));

  • iFrame isolation

    - by Louis
    Just a thought, but would using an IFRAME over a DIV essentially make that element isolated from the window in a way that slow scripts running in the IFRAME wouldn't affect the other frames/window?

  • Typing Text effect not working

    - by Anthony Garand
    I'm writing a script to take an array of strings, split them by characters, and print them out to the screen. This is what I have and for some reason it is not doing anything. Any ideas? function autowrite() { var write_text=["Your Memories","Your Thoughts","Your Photos"]; var split_text = Array(); var i; var c; for(i=0; i < write_text.length; i++) { split_text[i] = write_text[i].split(""); for(c=0; i < split_text.length[i]; i++) { alert(split_text[i][c]); } } }
