• C# ...extract email address from inside 100's of text files

  My SMTP server got 100's of errors when sending lots of emails. Now have lots of .BAD files each one containing an error message and somewhere in the middle, the actual email address it was supposed to be sent to. What is the easiest way to extract from each file "just" the "email address", so that I can have a list of the actual failed emails? I can code in C# and any suggestion will be truly welcomed. • My treeview Data is Not changing.

  Hai , I am trying to display the user permission in a treeview.For each user permissions are stored in the database as xml file. In the page, a Combo box used to list the users and a treeView used to bind the Permission xml. When the user get selected in the combo box , i took the xml from the database and connect with xmlDatasource and bind with the treeView. What happening is , First time the TreeView fill with the xml nodes and another time it will not work. For the first selection it's ok. Anothers selections are not effected by the treeview. The code is debugging. No problem. Can you just tell ,why the treeview datasource is not updating. I used this code ..   Writing a cleint/Server tool I am tasked trying to find a server to connect to. I would love to make things as easy as possible for the user. As such, my idea is to: CHeck whether specific servers (coded by name) exist (like "mail.xxx" for a mail server, for example - my exampüle is not a mail server;) Query otherwise for DNS SVC records, allowing the admin to configure a server location for a specific serivce (that the client connects to). The result is that the user may have to enter only a domain name, possibly even not even that (using the registered standard domain of the computer in a LAN environment). Anyone ideas how: To find out whether a server exists and answers (i.e. is online) in the fastest way? TCP can take a long time if the server is not there. A UDP style ping sounds like a good idea to me. PING itself may be unavailable. Anyonw knows how to ask from withint .NET best for a SVC record in a specific (the default) domain?

• C++ MFC server app with sockets crashes and I cannot find the fault, help!

  My program has one dialog and two sockets. Both sockets are derived from CAsyncSocket, one is for listening, other is for receiving data from client. My program crashes when client tries to connect to server application and server needs to initialize receiving socket. This is my MFC dialog class. class CFileTransferServerDlg : public CDialog { ... Is it a bug (I'm using the latest .Net Framework 4.0, and he same occurs in 2.0), or am I doing something wrong here? Is there a work around? Thanks!   I am trying to create a Registration app with JSON to connect and post to MYSQL database. I created the following IF/ELSE statements to check for vacant input boxes, password match, and correct email characters before allowing it to be entered into the DATABASE. The code continues to execute the JSON posting even after the passwords don't match , invalid email characters are entered , and vacant text boxes are submitted. • Faster Insertion of Records into a Table with SQLAlchemy

  I am parsing a log and inserting it into either MySQL or SQLite using SQLAlchemy and Python. Right now I open a connection to the DB, and as I loop over each line, I insert it after it is parsed (This is just one big table right now, not very experienced with SQL). I then close the connection when the loop is done. The summarized code is: log_table = schema.Table('log_table', metadata, schema.Column('id', types.Integer, primary_key=True), schema.Column('time', types.DateTime), schema.Column('ip', types.String(length=15)) .... engine = create_engine(...) metadata.bind = engine connection = engine.connect() .... for line in file_to_parse: m = line_regex.match(line) if m: fields = m.groupdict() pythonified = pythoninfy_log(fields) #Turn them into ints, datatimes, etc if use_sql: ins = log_table.insert(values=pythonified) connection.execute(ins) parsed += 1 My two questions are: Is there a way to speed up the inserts within this basic framework? Maybe have a Queue of inserts and some insertion threads, some sort of bulk inserts, etc? When I used MySQL, for about ~1.2 million records the insert time was 15 minutes. With SQLite, the insert time was a little over an hour. Does that time difference between the db engines seem about right, or does it mean I am doing something very wrong?

• Best way to sign data in web form with user certificate

  We have a C# web app where users will connect using a digital certificate stored in their browsers. From the examples that we have seen, verifying their identity will be easy once we enable SSL, as we can access the fields in the certificate, using Request.ClientCertificate, to check the user's name. We have also been requested, however, to sign the data sent by the user (a few simple fields and a binary file) so that we can prove, without doubt, which user entered each record in our database. Our first thought was creating a small text signature including the fields (and, if possible, the md5 of the file) and encrypt it with the private key of the certificate, but... As far as I know we can't access the private key of the certificate to sign the data, and I don't know if there is any way to sign the fields in the browser, or we have no other option than using a Java applet. And if it's the latter, how we would do it (Is there any open source applet we can use? Would it be better if we create one ourselves?) Of course, it would be better if there was any way to "sign" the fields received in the server, using the data that we can access from the user's certificate. But if not, any info on the best way to solve the problem would be appreciated.

It works (huzzah!) but I want to make it more user friendly by making it refresh automatically after you pressed the like button.   I have a huge Excel spreadsheet containing telephone calling rates to a number of different countries. The format of the columns is: Country, RateLocality, Prefixes, Rate, Wholesale e.g. Afganistan, Default, 93;930;931;9321;9322;9323;9324;9325;9326;9327;9328;9329;9331;9332;9333;9334;9335;9336;9337;9338;9339;9341;9342;9343;9344;9345;9346;9347;9348;9349;9351;9352;9353;9354;9355;9356;9357;9358;9359;9361;9362;9363;9364;9365;9366;9367;9368;9369;9371;9372;9373;9374;9376;938;939; $ 1.023, $0.455 These rates change every so often and I need to get them into another system that can import them using CSV. The eventual format is: LD PREPEND CODE ie. 00 or 011,CountryCode,Area Code,Comment,Connect Cost,Included Seconds,Per Minute Cost,Pricelist,Increment So to convert that above line I'd have 00,"Afganistan",93,"Default",1.023,60,1.023,10 00,"Afganistan",931,"Default",1.023,60,1.023,10 ... 00,"Afganistan",939,"Default",1.023,60,1.023,10 Where 00, 60 and 10 are hard coded and merged with the other data from excel. How can I export this data into the required format given that I need to reformat it as it goes. Should I export to XML and use XSLT or some other process to massage the data into CSV? If that is the case, how do I do it simply and quickly.

• How To Correctly Specify A Default Value For A String Field In A PHP/MySQL Prepared Statement

  I'm trying to debug some auto-generated code, but I am a mySQL noob. Everything goes fine ultil the "prepare" line below, and then for some reason $mysqli_stmt is false, yielding the stated error. Could it have something to do with the SQL_MODE = 'ANSI'? The failure seems to have something to do with the string 'xxx' below, but it still happens no matter what I change it to. • WCF newbie - how to install and use a SSL certificate?

  This should be a snap for anyone who's done it before... I'm trying to set up a self-hosted WCF service using NetTcpBinding. I got a trial SSL certificate from Thawte and successfully installed that in my IIS store, and I think I've got it correctly set up in the service - at least it doesn't exception out on me! Now, I'm trying to connect the client (this is still all on my dev machine), and it's giving me an error, "Message = "The X.509 certificate CN=ssl.mydomain.com, OU=For Test Purposes Only. No assurances., OU=IT, O=My Company, L=My Town, S=None, C=IL chain building failed. The certificate that was used has a trust chain that cannot be verified. Replace the certificate or change the certificateValidationMode. A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider." Ooookeeeey... now what? • Installing Plugins from Cloud p2 repository in Eclipse IDE

  I have been recently reading a lot about p2 for a requirement of mine. Most of the p2 documentation online points to p2 for RCP. My requirement is for a plugin repo. I have a plugin that is used within Eclipse IDE. I dnt want to change the repo location but based on the Eclipse Version, if the user looks for Install New Software or Check for Updates it needs to download the respective plugins. My repo currently contains all the plugins for all the versions. but i need to everytime give a different URL to my user based on the Version. For e.g i am using Eclipse 3.7(Indigo). I install the plugin thru Install New Software by adding the p2 Repo URL. Now the user decides to for some requirement move to Eclipse 3.6, I want him to connect to the same p2 Repo URL and download the plugins created for Eclipse 3.6. This is definitely possible using p2 Discovery, or i could categorize the downloads using composite repository but i dnt want to do any of these. Just want to kno is there any API that i can hold on to, so that before processing the URL and finding the updates, i can check the version of Eclipse and redirect it based on the version to an internal URL. This is possible in RCP, want to kno if i can do it in Eclipse p2 UI. All the p2 UI looks to be internal classes. Any directives would be appreciated. Malai

• Will WCF allow me to use object references across boundries on objects that implement INotifyPropert

  So I've created a series of objects that interact with a piece of hardware over a serial port. There is a thread running monitoring the serial port, and if the state of the hardware changes it updates properties in my objects. I'm using observable collections, and INotifyPropertyChanged. I've built a UI in WPF and it works great, showing me real time updating when the hardware changes and allows me to send changes to the hardware as well by changing these properties using bindings. What I'm hoping is that I can run the UI on a different machine than what the hardware is hooked up to without a lot of wiring up of events. Possibly even allow multiple UI's to connect to the same service and interact with this hardware. So far I understand I'm going to need to create a WCF service. I'm trying to figure out if I'll be able to pass a reference to an object created at the service to the client leaving events intact. So that the UI will really just be bound to a remote object. Am I moving the right direction with WCF? Also I see tons of examples for WCF in C#, are there any good practical use examples in VB that might be along the lines of what I'm trying to do?

• How do I execute queries upon DB connection in Rails?

  I have certain initializing functions that I use to set up audit logging on the DB server side (ie, not rails) in PostgreSQL. At least one has to be issued (setting the current user) before inserting data into or updating any of the audited tables, or else the whole query will fail spectacularly. I can easily call these every time before running any save operation in the code, but DRY makes me think I should have the code repeated in as few places as possible, particularly since this diverges greatly from the ideal of database agnosticism. Currently I'm attempting to override ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection in an initializer to set it up so that the queries are run as soon as I connect automatically, but it doesn't behave as I expect it to. However, the code never seems to get called, because any attempt to run a save or an update on a database object fails as I predicted earlier. If this isn't a proper way to execute code immediately on connection to the database, then what is?
