• Which E-commerce Platform works well with Flash Product Customization+Social?

  What's the best platform out there that is flexible enough to easily integrate this: Custom Flash App I would like customers to : 1 - Select a t-shirt from a gallery of artists. 2 - Customize it ( using a Flash tool i created ) 3 - Select a T-shirt size 4 - Order it. All this flash widget does is generate a JPG on the server. the ecommerce app should assign it to that Order/Customer, and add it to their shopping cart. Social Features Customers should also be able to comment on the t-shirts and artist bios. I was thinking of trying Wordpress plugins like Shopp or Getshopped or Cart66. ----- then BuddyPRess for social features. Or is Magento a better choice? thanks!

  I want to develop a simple app for the Windows Phone 7 platform. It's basically a vocabulary based game that involves the user moving word tiles from one area to another to score points. I want to know what is the best way of tying the UI to the game's backend? I saw the Windows Phone 7 jumpstart videos, there they touch up on Data Binding but don't really go into any depth. I'm a newbie and don't have any experience with designing the architecture for a phone app, It'd be great if someone could explain what steps I should be taking or guide me to a resource from where I could learn more.

• Why do employers care so much about GPA?

  I went to a pretty good engineering school and did CS. I graduated with a 2.86 gpa and really tried my best. I even took a few graduate classes in place of undergrad courses to challenge myself. I really liked those a lot. But the second question I am always asked is "What was your gpa?", this of course always comes after "How are you today?". Once I tell them either 2.86 or a rounded 2.9 they immediately shut off. I have even had them stop the interview saying the 3.0 is the cut off. Does a tenth of a point really mean that much?

(console applications in C++) I want to find a summer job/internship that would help me build my skill set. Being that I am still such a beginner pay is not a concern, minimum wage would be nice, but as long as I am learning, I really don't care. My current resume just lists a bunch of random jobs i've had in the past (burger king, summer camps, best buy, etc.) Does anyone have any tips (places to look? things to put on resume?) that might help me?

  Like many of you, I learn best by getting my hands dirty.  When confronted with the task of understanding a new set of products and technologies and figuring out how they might apply to a vertical industry like healthcare, I set out to create a demonstration.  The video that follows aims to show how the Oracle embedded software portfolio can be applied to a healthcare application.  The demonstration utilizes among others, Java SE Embedded, Berkeley DB, Apache Tomcat, Oracle 11gR2 and Oracle Database Mobile Server.   Hi, Some background first- I am new to programming and have discovered it rather late in life; Like many hobbyists, my introduction to the subject has been through php/jquery (yes, i know the popular mood around here... they-are-not-real-programminng-languages ;-) ). I like to believe that I am reasonably competent at what I do in my other life and this developing addiction to coding has taken a very heavy toll on my professional prospects. This is the question: What programming languages next? (No plans to ditch php in the immediate future, that will involve rewriting much of my code) Any absolutely essential books I must read? Is it necessary to join a college/university course? Do I need to ditch my other profession to continue serious learning? Some things that I have found through research: 100 - 150 Chars long is ideal 3-5 words in your url, according to Matt Cutts Use .htaccess to force clean urls Do not duplicate data (important) Clean and precise, describing the content Use hyphens On the homepage, I try to detect the users location based on IP, but this isn't always accurate, and not always reliable. So until they put in their city/location, I can't always use this structure but this is potentially work-able. For Searching, a form post to a results page: domain.com/jobs/[city]/[search] ie: domain.com/jobs/toronto/sales manager/ OR domain.com/search/jobs/toronto/sales manager/ or do I remove the word JOBS and just use Search. I trying to keep good search terms in the URL, but also keep it clean and concise. Can someone give me some feedback and thoughts to 'why'...

• Website with sections in Drupal?

  What is the best way to create a website with sections in Drupal? Users need to be able to add, remove, and nest pages fairly easily. Pages added to a section should have an appropriate URL, like "/[section name]/[page title]". This seems like a straightforward task, but I can't find the right combination of tools to do it. Subsite comes close, but for some odd reason, doesn't set up the correct content paths. The closest I got was creating a book for each subsection, but that feels like I'm using the wrong tool for the job. Edited with my solution: I used organic groups with pathauto. I set pathauto so that pages in groups had URLs that were of the form [group path]/[page title].

• Coding a web browser on Windows using a layout engine?

  I've never attempted anything like this before but what I want to do is code a browser for Windows. I know that I can use the web-browser control that Microsoft has released, but I'm interested in seeing how the problem is solved from a lower level. So I want to know what layout engine I should be looking at? Or is a layout engine the best way to go? I've been looking at WebKit, but it seems rather Mac-centric, so I'm wondering if there are any more practical one's for windows? Has Microsoft released the source code for their webbrowser winforms control in the .Net framework? That would be dependent on the CLR anyway, I suppose? Any suggestions?

I have noticed many JavaScript methods using single character parameter names, such as in the following example. doSomething(a,b,c) I don't like it, but a fellow JavaScript developer convinced me that this is done to reduce the file size, noting that JavaScript files have to be transferred to the browser. Then I found myself talking to another developer. He showed me the way that Firefox will truncate variable names to load the page faster. Is this a standard practice for web browsers? What are the best-practice naming conversions that should be followed when programming in JavaScript? Does identifier length matter, and if so, to what extent?

• Square game map rendered as sphere

  For a hobby project of mine I have created a finite voxel world (similar to Minecraft), but as I said, mine is finite. When you reach the edge of it, you are sent to the other side. That is all working fine along with rendering the far side of the map, but I want to be able to render this grid as a sphere. Looking down from above, the world is a square. I basically want to be able to represent a portion of that square as a sphere, as if you were looking at a planet. Right now I am experimenting with taking a circular section of the map, and rendering that, but it look to flat (no curvature around the edges). My question then, is what would be the best way to add some curvature to the edges of a 2d circle to make it look like a hemisphere. However, I am not overly attached to this implementation so if somebody has some other idea for representing the square as a planet, I am all ears.

  If you used mstest and NUnit you might be aware of the fact that the former doesn't support dynamic, data driven test cases. For example, the following scenario cannot be achieved with the out-of-box mstest: given a dataset, create distinct test cases for each entry in it, using a predefined generic test case. The best result that can be achieved using mstest is a single testcase that will iterate through the dataset. There is one disadvantage: if the test fails for one entry in the dataset, the whole test case fails. So, in order to overcome the previously mentioned limitation, I decided to create a text template that will generate the test cases for me.   Trying to figure out the best way for openstack and MASS networks to co-exist. Assuming MAAS used 10.0.0.0/24 for provisioning of various openstack nodes, once openstack, with quantum, is deployed should 10.0.0.0 be used as management network, external network, both or discarded? Reason for the question being that I ran a deployment where openstack used 10.0.0.0 as its management network, MAAS dhcp and dns were active; however, I could only access VMs through namespace and was not able to utilize MAAS's dhcp to assign floating IP. (VMs network was through an internal bridge 10.10.10.10, and external bridge was using the same interface as MAAS.) Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

• Ubuntu slow on HP 2000 notebook with Apu e1-1200

  I am using HP 2000 notebook which initially came with Windows 7 64bit. It has 4gb ram, AMD APU E1-1200 (1.4ghz) with Radeon 7310. With Windows it worked ok, so I decided to switch to Ubuntu. I installed 13.04 64bit at first, but responsiveness wasn't that good (opening windows, menus, Firefox, dash search) even if it was way better during the testing from live USB. I tried different kind of drivers for graphic card, 13.6beta, 13.4, fgrlx proprietary, upgraded kernel but the situation was the same. Then I tried installing 32bit version but the results were identical. After that I tried LTS version 12.04 and Xubuntu 13.04.. Responsiveness wasn't that different at all. Not sure what to do, and I wouldn't want to go back to Windows. This machine is not a beast, but it should be enough to deal with Unity or Xfce without troubles. Oh yes, I have insydeH20 BIOS with not so many options at my disposal. Thanks and best regards,

  What is the best way to track defect sources in tfs? We have various teams for a project like the vulnerability team, the customer, pre-sales, etc. We give a build and these teams independently test it. They do not have access to our tfs system. So they usually send in their defects via email. It will usually be send in an excel format. Our testing team takes these up and logs them into tfs. Sometimes they modify the original defect description (in excel) and add the expected/actual results. Sometimes they miss to cite the source. I am talking about managing the various sources as such. Is there a way we can add these sources into tfs, and actually link this particular source with the defects, with individual comments associated with them (saying where in the source we can find the actual material for the defect).

• Rotating multiple points at once in 2D

  I currently have an editor that creates shapes out of (X, Y) coordinates and then triangulate that to make up a shape of those points. What will I have to do to rotate all of those points simultaneously? Say I click the screen in my editor, it locates the point where I've clicked and if I move the mouse up or down from that point it calculates rotation on X and Y axis depending on new position relevant to first position, say I move up 10 on the Y axis it rotates that way and the same way for X. Or simply, somehow to enter rotation degree: 90, 180, 270, 360, for example. I use VertexPositionColor at the moment. What are the best algorithms or methods that I can look at to rotate multiple points in 2D at once? Also: Since this is an editor I do now want to rotate it on the Matrix, so if I want to rotate the whole shape 180 degree that's the new "position" of all the points, so that's the new rotation = 0 for example. Later on I probably will use World Matrix rotation for this, but not now.
