• Windows 7: blue faces in VLC... sometimes

  Hi There are a bunch of forum posts about this issue from the last several years but no resolution that I could find. I have the newest VLC installed on Windows 7 with the newest nvidia drivers. Suddenly, VLC plays some videos in such a way as faces are blue. When viewed in another media player, or when looking at the thumbnails, this is not an issue. Other videos are not affected. I've tried resetting VLC options, deleting the VLC folder in the AppData area, etc. I have no other color issues. Does anyone have a fix?

• Office 365 Powershell - Export user, license type, and company field to csv file

  I need to be able to export user name or email address (doesn't matter which), company (from the company field under the organization tab in a user account of the exchange admin console), and license type (e.g. exchange online e1, exchange online kiosk etc...) I am able to export both values in two statements into two separate files but that doesn't do me much good. I can export the username and license type with the following: Get-MSOLUser | % { $user=$_; $_.Licenses | Select {$user.displayname},AccountSKuid } | Export-CSV "sample.csv" -NoTypeInformation And, I can get the company values with the following: Get-User | select company | Export-CSV sample.csv Someone on another forum suggested this - $index = @{} Get-User | foreach-object {$index.Add($_.userprincipalname,$_.company)} Get-MsolUser | ForEach-Object { write-host $_.userprincipalname, $index[$_.userprincipalname], $_.licenses.AccountSku.Skupartnumber} That seems like it should work but it doesn't display any license info in my powershell, it's just blank. Also I wouldn't know how to export that to a csv file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Can't create new folder from anywhere in Windows 7

  I have this problem on two of my new laptops and can't seem to find a decent workable solution elsewhere in forum land. The problem is that on my Windows 7 Professional machines the right mouse button doesn't show the New Folder option and elsewhere as well (via Explorer) I'm unable to create new folders. I'll be happy to get this tiny problem resolved and declare that Windows 7 is almost perfect! Thanks to all of you in advance for your contribution! PS: None of the Vista solutions seem to work here!

• How to boot Windows XP using the image file(not the extracted image file)

  Is it possible to boot from an iso image file itself. Because when you burn it, it gets extracted. Because in linux you can just place the .iso file in a removable media and boot from it without extracting. Is it possible to make something like that in windows? What I'm saying is related to this: http://wintoflash.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=312 Something like creating a flash drive which has the ability to install multiple os. They have something like this in pendrivelinux but I can't find it anymore. But that boot manager can only install linux. And other live cd's used in cleaning the system. That's why I'm asking if its possible to make a custom windows xp or windows 7 installer so that the image file alone can boot.

• Can a power failure or forceful shutdown damage hardware?

  In an unrelated Internet forum I got into a discussion about hardware damage from forceful shutdowns (holding the power button for 5 seconds) and power failures. I was in the opinion that normal PC hardware does not suffer from this - after all, it's not much different than what they experience under a standard shutdown. But another person thought that it could do physical harm to the hard drive and possibly other components as well. He also said that the journaling features of filesystems are useless in face of power failures and were intended to help mitigate damage from system crashes. Now... I think this is nonsense, but then again I lack the experience and knowledge to say it with certainty. Perhaps someone else is more knowledgeable in this area and can shed light on this burning issue? :)

• Firefox requests the master password twice

  I've set a master password for Firefox. When Firefox starts, it strangely opens two separate password request windows. When I type in the master password and hit enter, Firefox opens without problems, but the other password request window stays there. I simply close it but it's annoying. Why are there 2 windows as it's enough to type the password once? I've upgraded Firefox from 3.5.5 to 3.5.6 but the problem remains. Any comments? • Windows DVD Maker on Windows 8?

  Something I really miss in Windows 8 is the Windows DVD Maker. I tried to get it running on Windows 8 by copying the DVD Maker directory from Windows 7 over to Windows 8. When I run it, I get the following error: I had hoped that this could be resolved by installing the Media Center add-on for Windows 8, but that did not have any effect. Several forum posts have suggested installing a codec pack such as the K-Lite codec pack, but I have always had bad experiences with those. I did, however, try to install the Shark007 codec pack, but that didn't work either. I also tried running the following commands (which did complete successfully, mind you) in an elevated command prompt, but they didn't change the outcome. regsvr32 msmpeg2vdec.dll regsvr32 msmpeg2adec.dll regsvr32 msmpeg2enc.dll I know there are other DVD making programs out there, some are even free, but the few I have tried do not compare to Windows DVD Maker's simplicity and beauty. Is there any way to make it work on Windows 8?

  Question1: What is the best online forum to ask MSFT Excel questions of the following variety? Question2: How can I link an excel pivot-table to a potentially changing source table without having to re-draw the excel pivot-table layout every time the source table changes data. (Note, the columns are not changing, just the data in the rows). Background: I have an excel 2007 pivot table that is grabbing data from another sheet (an excel "table" ... tables are a new feature of excel 2007). When I change the data in the source table, and then go to the pivot table and press "refresh" ... the pivot table reverts to its "blank" format and requires me to re-drag the columns rows and values. What I want is for the pivot-table to simply re-draw itself without me having to re-create the pivot table layout.

  I needed to install UCS2 python next to UCS4 python. So I went to comp.lang.python and asked them about it. Probably not the best place to ask it, but they answered https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/comp.lang.python/bGuAfqa76W8 and now i have brand new python 2.7.3 ucs2 installed in /opt/bin/python What I need now is - how can I install all other python modules that I have installed for that python version also. Basically stuff like PIL and postgresql and mod_wsgi - basically everything needed to run Django for that python version. Is this the right the place to ask for it?

• Firefox does not load certificate chain

  I'm running lighttpd/1.4.28 (ssl) on Debian Squeeze. I just created a http://startssl.com certificate, I runs fine at all of my Browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera), but my users are reporting certificate-errors in Firefox. I already nailed it down to a failing of loading of the certificate chain: Certificate at my Firefox: http://i.stack.imgur.com/moR5x.png Certificate at others Firefox: http://i.stack.imgur.com/ZVoIu.png (Note the missing StartCOM-certificates here) I followed this tutorial for embedding the certificate in my lighttpd: https://forum.startcom.org/viewtopic.php?t=719 The relevant parts of my lighttpd.conf look like this: $SERVER["socket"] == ":443" { ssl.engine = "enable" ssl.ca-file = "/etc/lighttpd/certs/ca-bundle.pem" ssl.pemfile = "/etc/lighttpd/certs/www.bisaboard.crt" } ca-bundle.pem was created like this: cat ca.pem sub.class1.server.ca.pem > ca-bundle.pem I grabbed the relevant files from here: http://www.startssl.com/certs/ www.bisaboard.crt was created like this: cat certificate.pem ssl.key > www.bisaboard.crt Where certificate.pem is my StartSSL-Class1 Certificate and ssl.key my SSL-Root-Key. Do you have any idea why the second Firefox does not correctly load the certificate-chain?

I read somewhere in forum that I have to make my C: logical and then I'd be able to split C: I did the same thing using Partition Wizard. I made C: of 125 GB and shift rest of the space in New drive. I made a bootable disk, performed all the task using partition Wizard After that I have not been able to boot my windows. Even after running system restore several times.

• built in "Offer Remote Assistance" not working because of permissions

  I'm trying to enable permissions for a user on a Windows7 machine to use the built in feature called "Offer Remote Assistance" or "Windows Remote Assistance". This feature works fine if the user is added to the "domain admins" security group, but for security reasons, I cannot leave him in that group. This is within a SBS2003 Domain. I have added the user and also a group that he is apart of to the Small Business Server Remote Assistance Policy, after following some documentation I was able to find, but this has not worked. • Set up internal domain to use external SMTP in Exchange 2007

  I'm moving to Google Apps and have setup dual-delivery. Everything is fine, but for mail sent internally (from [email protected] to [email protected]), Exchange is not using the send connectors I have pointing to Google's servers. I believe my question is similar to this question: How to force internal email through an smtp connector in exchange 2007 Again, if a user is connected to the Exchange server and tries to send to [email protected] it works just fine, but I cannot seem to force *@mydomain.com to route correctly. This should be a fairly simple, but according to this: google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Apps/thread?tid=30b6ad03baa57289&hl=en (can't post two links due to spam prevention) It does not seem possible. Any ideas?

• Excel how to get an average for column for rows that meet multiple criteria

  I would like to know the average days between open and close dates for an item with a close date in a particular month. So from the below example in Jan 2013 items 2,5 and 6 were closed (Closed can be RESOLVED or CANCELLED status), each were open for 26, 9 and 6 days respectivly. So of the jobs that have a closed date in Jan 2013 (between 01/01/2013 and 13/02/13) they have an average open time (between open and close date) of 13.67 days to 2dp. I have tried a few ways to get this to work and i think the issue I am having is with the AVERAGE function. First time using a forum so apologies if my question is unclear. • Not able to connect to a mac client from a windows machine

  I have a Server.exe file which I use to connect to a mac.(I am fairly confident that server.exe is not buggy ).When i try to do this I get this often cited error "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it " I did search some existing questions about this on the forum and it looked like this might be a firewall issue.FWIW I dont have any firewall set on my mac (client) and on my server machine (Windows 7 64 bit ) under the firewall settings I have :- Incoming connections : Block all connections to programs that are not on the list of allowed programs. Active Domain Networks: Same domain as the one which my client is on. Windows Firewire State: Off. Do you think i need to change something here?Can someone help me with next steps?

• Does HP 8530w support Wifi 802.11n?

  According to vendor site HP 8530w supports 802.11n draft mode. My Windows 7 tell me that network card is 5100 ABG and know nothing about N mode (guys from Intel forum mentioned, that 802.11N versions must ended with N letter, e.g. 5100 ABN). Not sure if it matter, but my laptop model id is #FU462EA. How could I check that my Wifi card compliant with 802.11n (I suspect that "draft N" could have two "special" meaning: doesn't work with 802.11n at all or requires special activation of the mode). Any hints are welcome.

• Acer aspire 5520 power light blinks no boot

  My laptop was working fine last night, I hibernated it and went to sleep. Got up, pressed the power button. The power light comes on for 4 seconds and the hdd light blinked a few times, then it turned off for a second then repeats the process. The only way to stop this process/power down is to remove the AC and take out the battery. It does not even reach a boot screen, nothing shows up on the screen, fan does not start. People on this forum has the same problem but they suggest to put the laptop in a oven and heat it (reflow). What could be the problem? Is there another solution other than a reflow? I dont feel like putting my motherboard in the oven.

  As I understand reading in the forum post :" By making more memory available to the system more data can be cached in RAM, so there will be less hard drive activity, and less swapping to memory so your system will perform better." But what happen when motherboard for a desktop that supports( and had install) more RAM than the procesor can handle?(aka:procesor Max Memory Size). Is there any advantage to have a MB that hold a bigger RAM capacity than the CPU? If so, how can this be translate using in a program like Adobe After Effects, RAM preview? thanks

• Make Google chrome with specific user profile as default browser

  Is it possible to set Google chrome with a custom user profile as the default browser? When I set google chrome as the default browser, it picks the "default" user profile as against the custom one I have setup. I tried setting google chrome as default browser after opening it from that particular user profile, but it doesn't seem to have an effect.   I've installed ruby and xampp server. now i am trying to use xampp mysql for ruby application. i copied xampp mysql lib (libmysql) from C:\xampp\mysql\lib to C:\Ruby192\bin (as told on some post on this forum). now after that when i try to create a resource using following command, i get an error. command: rails generate scaffold ShortUrl url:string error: C:/Ruby192/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/mysql2-0.3.11-x86-mingw32/lib/mysql2/mysql2.rb:2:in `require': Incorrect MySQL client library version! This gem was compiled for 6.0.0 but the client library is 5.5.16. (RuntimeError) i know that there is version issue b/w ruby mysql client and xampp mysal. now i need advice that what is better solution? upgraded xampp mysql or downgrade ruby mysql version. Personally i want to upgrade xampp mysql but i read on some post that xampp mysql can't be upgraded. please advise.

I've been searching online and in the Apache documentation for any mention of the equal-sign tilde operator, but I've found no mention of it. I know that some directives can take a tilde to use a regular expression, but I've never seen the m" ... " form used before. What exactly is that m" ... " for? Where else would you see this form?

  Hi guys, I hope I am in the right forum for this question. I love foobar2000 on windows and have 2 custom Tags for my mp3s Rate and mood. Now I have to use a Mac to play my music and emulating foobar won't work, because foobar has to recreate its database every time it starts... ans thats about 2h of hahsing - no good. So is there any way to read out, order by and write custom tags with iTunes or any other, if possible free, mac app? Thanks for your answers.

• IIS replaces redirect status header from PHP with 302 Redirect

  Hello I hope I am posting this in the correct place... I'm having an issue with a 301 redirect in php. Looking at the headers, if I do a simple 301 redirect, it actually appears as a 302 redirect which is not what I am after. This is the php code: header("Status: 301 Moved Permanently"); header('Location: newurl'); It is running on the latest version of php, IIS7 and uses the FastCGI module (which is apparently where this bug could exist).
