• Suspend not working after kernel update on an HP Envy14 1050

  I just update ubuntu 12.04 to the kernel 3.2.0-30 and together with it a lot of packeges in the system. I am running it on an HP Envy14 1050. When I first made a fresh install of the clean ubuntu 12.04 I had the problem that when restoring from suspend the screen was black, although some backlight was there. I could fix it following this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/989674/comments/20. Now, after the update the black screen after suspend has reappeared but with no backlight at all and the led in the caps lock key blinking. The laptop is using a ATI radeon 5600 with the privative drivers. During the update process there was an error with depmod . You can see the /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log file at the end. UPDATE: suspend is not working at all. The problem is not when restoring from suspend, but when I try to suspend the system it gets blocked and the fan running. Only option is to press power button. • Visual Studio 2010, TlbImp generates .net 4.0 interops in 2.0 projects

  In a C# project we add a reference to a COM object via the Add References setup pointing to a COM object which results in the IDE auto-generating the interop assembly. So this is fine and good, but we are building based on .net 3.5 SP1 aka CLR 2.0, and the generated interops are using the 4.0 CLR making them incompatible. Is there a way to prevent this? I assume the other option is configure our build script to try using tlbimp.exe with the /references parameter? to point to mscorlib v2.0? Anyhow, I'm hoping there's a flag somewhere to allow this.

• Problem setting up Master-Master Replication in MySQL

  I am attempting to setup Master-Master Replication on two MySQL database servers. I have followed the steps in this guide, but it fails in the middle of Step 4 with SHOW MASTER STATUS; It simply returns an empty set. I get the same 3 errors in both servers' logs. • Hexagonal Grid Coordinates To Pixel Coordinates

  I am working with a hexagonal grid. I have chosen to use this coordinate system because it is quite elegant. This question talks about generating the coordinates themselves, and is quite useful. My issue now is in converting these coordinates to and from actual pixel coordinates. I am looking for a simple way to find the center of a hexagon with coordinates x,y,z. Assume (0,0) in pixel coordinates is at (0,0,0) in hex coords, and that each hexagon has an edge of length s. It seems to me like x,y, and z should each move my coordinate a certain distance along an axis, but they are interrelated in an odd way I can't quite wrap my head around it. Bonus points if you can go the other direction and convert any (x,y) point in pixel coordinates to the hex that point belongs in.

• iphone - How do I add videos to iPad simulator?

  No, dropping the videos to ~/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/3.2/Media/DCIM/100APPLE does not work totally, because the simulator can see the video on Photos.app, but when I try to pick a video using UIImagePickerController my application crashes. I think this may have some relation to the format the video has to have. I am using QuickTime to generate the video. I am using the settings "for iPhone"... so it is generating a M4V with 480x360 pixels H264. I have tried to create a MOV with the same characteristics and one with 640x480 but nothing works. I have also dropped a movie created with iPhone 3GS and it still crashes. this is the error I see when it crashes * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (0)' the method didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo is never called, so its some issue on the simulator or on the video. The app crashes as soon as I pick the video. any ideas? thanks.

I've been playing with it, and for the life of me I can't figure out what I need to do to get what I need working. Including: Refreshing the cache Using a different favicon that works on other websites Using a favicon generating website Using a Photoshop favicon plugin Using an absolute path Using a relative path It works fine in all the other browsers. I'm using IE8 in Vista via Parallels on a Mac.   I'm evaluating using Coco/R vs. ANTLR for use in a C# project as part of what's essentially a scriptable mail-merge functionality. To parse the (simple) scripts, I'll need a parser. I've focussed on Coco/R and ANTLR because both seem fairly mature and well-maintained and capable of generating decent C# parsers. Neither seem to be trivial to use either, however, and simplicity is something I'd appreciate - particularly maintainability by others. Does anyone have any recommendations to make? What are the pros/cons of either for a parsing a small language - or am I looking into the wrong things entirely? How well do these integrate into a typical continuous integration setup?   Hi, I have a gridview with some imagebuttons, each of which kicks off a report page for that item. The report take 10-15 seconds to run, so I'd like a popup 'Generating report, please wait' type thing. I can think of a few ways but would like the opinion of those more experienced than I. The options I was considering: a) link my imagebutton to an intermediate page that says 'please wait', and then refer it onto the report page from there. Seems a bit clunky b) Investigate using jquery or similar. I have telerik controls, they have a few things but it isn't clear if any are suitable. c) Define some kind of CSS layer with a please wait warning on it, and make it visible as part of the button's onclick event d) Look into jquery or similar Any thoughts? • RDLC: How to print multiple tables in one report

  I'm generating the RDLC XML schema and showing the report in the ReportViewer control. No problems there. Now, I want a report with 2 tables, with 2 differents dataset. Something like this gets generated: <Body> <ReportItems> <Table Name="Table1"> .... </Table> <Table Name="Table2"> .... </Table> </ReportItems> </Body> But, when printed, both tables start from the top, printing one table over the other (not nice) Is there a way to tell that Table2 should start after Table1? Update: I've tried with List with a fake DataSource, but it does not work.

• Android 2.1 View's getDrawingCache() method always returns null

  Hello, I'm working with Android 2.1 and have the following problem: Using the method View.getDrawingCache() always returns null. Example code: public void onCreate(final Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); final View view = findViewById(R.id.ImageView01); view.setDrawingCacheEnabled(true); view.buildDrawingCache(); final Bitmap bmp = view.getDrawingCache(); System.out.println(bmp); } I've already tried different ways to configure the View object for generating the drawing cache (e.g. View.setWillNotDraw(boolean) and View.setWillNotCacheDrawing(boolean)), but nothing works. What is the right ways, or what do I wrong?

  Hi, I just installed Sphinx (distro: archlinux) downloading the source. Then I installed "Thinking Sphinx" plugin for Rails. I followed the official page setup and this Screencast from Ryan Bates, but when I try to index the models it gives me this error: $ rake thinking_sphinx:index (in /home/benoror/Dropbox/Proyectos/cotizahoy) Sphinx cannot be found on your system. • Move to next page if Table can not adjust in current page using iText

  I am generating a PDF report using iText. The report is having four parts as - Project Info1 (A PDF Table of variable height) Project Info2 (A PDF Table of variable height) Requestor Info (A PDF Table of Fixed height) Location Info (A PDF Table of Fixed height) The top two information are of variable height and they can acquire certain pages. The other two are of fixed size which comes at last. I want to move the last (one or both) boxes to the next page if there is no space available to fit those boxes in current page. If space for one box is available then place one to the current page and move other box to the next table. Is there way to decide this?

• Why does this render as a list of "System.Web.Mvc.SelectListItem"s?

  I'm trying to populate a DropDownList with values pulled from a property, and my end result right now is a list of nothing but "System.Web.Mvc.SelectListItem"s. I'm sure there's some minor step I'm omitting here, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. • Graphviz DOT arrange Nodes in circles

  OK here's my problem, I'm generating a graph of a python module, including all the files with their functions/methods/classes. I want to arrange it so, that nodes gather in circles around their parent nodes, currently everything is on one gargantuan horizontal row, which makes the thing 50k pixels wide and also let's the svg converter fail(only renders about the half of the graph). I went trough the docs(http://www.graphviz.org/doc/info/attrs.html) but couldn't find anything that seems to do the trick. So the question is: Is there a simple way to do this or do I have to layout the whole thing by myself? :/

• Entity Framework - SaveChanges with GUID as EntityKey

  I have a SQL Server 2008 database table that uses uniqueidentifier as a primary key. On inserts, the key is generated on the database side using the newid() function. This works fine with ADO.NET. But when I set up this table as an entity in an Entity Framework 4 model, there's a problem. I am able to query the entity just fine, but when creating a new entity and invoking SaveChanges() on the context, the generated uniqueidentifier on the database is all zeros. I understand there was an issue with EF v1 where this scenario did not work, requiring creating the GUID on the client prior to calling SaveChanges. However, I had read in many places that they were planning to fix this in EF 4. My question -- is this scenario (DB-side generation of uniqueidentifier) still not supported in EF4? Are we still stuck with generating the GUID on the client?

  Hello, I have setup a Postfix mail server for incoming mails that is required to never reply to external enviornment i.e it will accept all incoming mails and never reply anything that can be used as a trace to locate and verify it's existence. I have implemented the Postfix anti-UCE configuration by using the following settings in postfix main.cf for countering spam generating mail servers: 'smtpd_recipient_restrictions = reject_rbl_client zen.spamhaus.org, reject_rbl_client bl.spamcop.net' Now i have certain doubts/questions: How Postfix is able to communicate with Black hole list providers i.e How this whole process works?, e.g here they are zen.spamhaus.org, bl.spamcop.net, so that i can test the performance of whole process. Can a header be added in the received mail regarding the status of the results of the above verification process, since i will not reply any traces from my incoming mail receiving Postfix server, so i need this feature? • Convert byte array from Oracle RAW to System.Guid?

  My app interacts with both Oracle and SQL Server databases using a custom data access layer written in ADO.NET using DataReaders. Right now I'm having a problem with the conversion between GUIDs (which we use for primary keys) and the Oracle RAW datatype. Inserts into oracle are fine (I just use the ToByteArray() method on System.Guid). The problem is converting back to System.Guid when I load records from the database. Currently, I'm using the byte array I get from ADO.NET to pass into the constructor for System.Guid. This appears to be working, but the Guids that appear in the database do not correspond to the Guids I'm generating in this manner. I can't change the database schema or the query (since it's reused for SQL Server). I need code to convert the byte array from Oracle into the correct Guid.

• Calling WebMethods / WebService using jquery is blocking

  Hi, I'm generating a file on the server which takes some time. For this, I have a hidden iframe which I then set the .src attribute to an aspx file i.e iframe.src = "/downloadFile.aspx" While this is taking place, I'd like to have a call to a web service return the progress. To do this, I thought I could use window.setInterval or window.setTimeout but Javascript seems to be blocked as soon as I set the iframe src attribute. Does anyone know how to get around this or perhaps try a different approach? I have also tried handlers, but the request never gets to the server so I'm assuming is a browser/javascript issue.

• Use a System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument to generate a PDF in memory

  Does anyone know if the following is possible and if so what the best way of doing it is for free? I am generating a PrintDocument in a project I am currently working on and displaying a print dialog box so a user can choose which printer they want to use etc. The is currently a windows form application and if a user wants to print to a PDF they can select to print to CutePDF or something similar. However I am now putting a ASP.Net web frontend on the application and want to use the same code to generate the PrintDocument but want to print it to a PDF on the fly and serve it up via the Response stream in the format of a PDF download. So my question is....How can I use the current PrintDocument and generate a PDF in memory from it?? Thanks
