• Error TF31004 when connecting to TFS2008

  I'm trying to connect to a TFS2008 server through Visual Studio 2008 (Tools\Connect to Team Foundation Server) and get this error when trying to add our server: TF31004: Team Foundation encountered an unexpected error while connecting to Team Foundation Server . Wait a few minutes and try again. If the problem persists, contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. Needless to say, waiting doesn't help. I've tried using the ip address instead of the hostname but get the same error. I can log in via a browser, in fact IE and Chrome both SSO me straight in. The server is only used for testing one of our TFS plugins, so doesn't get much real use.

  I just installed GNUstep on my Windows XP machine and I'm attempting to compile the following Objective-C Hello World program from the command line: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> int main(int argc, const char *argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSLog(@"Hello world\n"); [pool drain]; return 0; } When I try to compile the program from the command line like so gcc hello.m -o hello I end up getting the following error hello.m:1:34: Foundation/Foundation.h: No such file or directory Is there something I need to do order to inform the compiler of where the standard Objective-C libraries are located?

• Strange crashes when using MPMoviePlayerController in iPad and iPad simulator with iOS 4.2.

  I'm getting crashes when trying to play a movie using MPMoviePlayerController on the iPad and in the iPad simulator using iOS 4.2. I am building using xcode 3.2.5 and the 4.2 SDK. When running on an iPad using iOS 3.2 or in the iPad simulator 3.2, the same code works fine, but on an iPad running 4.2 or in the iPad simulator 4.2, it crashes. The crash is due to an exception for calling an unknown selector down somewhere deep in the cocoa libraries, something tries to call a selector called "setHitRectInsets:" on a UIButton object. Also, the crash happens after control has returned to the main event loop. Anybody have any idea what might be causing this?   I have been seeing the following error message a lot whenever I build something using the simulator: dyld: Symbol not found: _objc_collect_if_needed Referenced from: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation Expected in: /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib in /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation I am running XCode 3.2.2 on OS X 10.6.3, and have reinstalled the SDK twice with no avail. This error makes running any code on the simulator something of a Russian Roulette, but with 5 out of 6 chambers loaded. I have checked the files mentioned in the error message, and they all checkout as being present. This sometimes go away if I restart XCode. Other times I have to logout, or even restart. And sometimes nothing works. I have googled this, even tried apple's developer forums. Other than a reference to this in the MonoTouch list, this bug appears to be completely unknown otherwise. Anything help would be greatly appreciated - this is a real PITA. Cheers, Steve

  I'm trying to match certain elements using XSLT. My input document is very large and the source XML fails to load after processing the following code (consider especially the first line). <xsl:template match="XMI/XMI.content/Model_Management.Model/Foundation.Core.Namespace.ownedElement/Model_Management.Package/Foundation.Core.Namespace.ownedElement"> <rdf:RDF> <rdf:Description rdf:about=""> <xsl:for-each select="Foundation.Core.Class"> <xsl:for-each select="Foundation.Core.ModelElement.name"> <owl:Class rdf:ID="@Foundation.Core.ModelElement.name" /> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:for-each> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF> </xsl:template> Apparently the XSLT fails to load after "Model_Management.Model". The PHP code is as follows: if ($xml->loadXML($source_xml) == false) { die('Failed to load source XML: ' . $http_file); } It then fails to perform loadXML and immediately dies. I think there are two options now. 1) I should set a maximum executing time. Frankly, I don't know how that I do this for the built-in PHP 5 XSLT processor. 2) Think about another way to match. • .NET substitute dependent assemblies without recompiling?

  I have a question about how the .NET framework (2.0) resolves dependent assemblies. We're currently involved in a bit of a rewrite of a large ASP.NET application and various satellite executables. There are also some nagging problems with our foundation classes that we developed a new API to solve. So far this is a normal, albeit wide-reaching, update. Our heirarchy is: ASP.NET (aspx) business logic (DLLs) foundation classes (DLLs) So ASP.NET doesn't throw a fit, some of the DLLs (specifically the foundation classes) have a redirection layer that contains the old namespaces/functions and forwards them to the new API. When we replaced the DLLs, ASP.NET picked them up fine (probably because it triggered a recompile). Precompiled applications don't though, even though the same namespaces and classes are in both sets of DLLs. Even when the file is renamed, it complains about the assemblyname attribute being different (which it has to be by necessity). I know you can redirect to differnet versions of the same assembly, but is there any way to direct to a completely different assembly? The alternatives are to recompile the applications (don't really want to because the applications themselves haven't changed) or recompile the old foundation DLL with stubs refering to the new foundation DLL (the new dummy DLL is file system clutter).

• Why do i get exc bad access in cases when object is not nil?

  I have an app that receives remote notifications. My view controller that is shown after push has a tableview. App crashes very randomly (1 in 20 tries) at line setting frame: if (!myTableView) { NSLog(@"self.myTableView is nil"); } myTableView.frame=CGRectMake(0, 70, 320, 376); This only happens when i open the app, then open some other apps and then receive the push notification. I guess it has something to do with memory. I use ARC (ios 5). The strange thing is that nslog is not displayed, so tableview is not nil. According to the documentation: When an object’s remote proxy is deallocated, a message is sent back to the receiver to notify it that the local object is no longer shared over the connection. I would therefore expect that as each DOTarget goes out of scope (each time around the loop) it's remote counterpart would be dellocated, since there is no other reference to it being held on the remote side of the connection. In reality this does not happen: the temporary objects are only deallocate when the client application quits, or more accurately, when the connection is invalidated. I can force the temporary objects on the remote side to be deallocated by explicitly invalidating the NSConnection object I'm using each time around the loop and creating a new one but somehow this just feels wrong. Is this the correct behaviour from DO? Should all temporary objects live as long as the connection that created them? Are connections therefore to be treated as temporary objects which should be opened and closed with each series of requests against the server? Any insights would be appreciated.

  I have recently asked about autoreleasing a returned quartz object: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2819548/autorelease-for-cgmutablepathref Dave DeLong answered my question that there is no autorelease for quartz (or any NS foundation objects) and I should use the Create Rule. However the naming convention on the document says, The Core Foundation naming conventions, in particular use of the word “create”, only apply to C functions that return Core Foundation objects. Naming conventions for Objective-C methods are governed by the Cocoa conventions, irrespective of whether the method returns a Core Foundation or Cocoa object. By this account since my function is a message in an objective C object it doesn't seem proper to name it createSomething. I still want to return this object. What's the best way to approach this?   I have a custom there, where I try to require some of my css and js files via the ResourceManifest.cs file - I keep into running a quite weird issue tough. • NSXMLElement undefined?

  I am trying to use NSXMLElement to build an XML document in my app, but when i build i get an error which reads "NSXMLElement undelcared". From what i can tell, NSXMLElement is part of the Foundation Framework, and should therefore be included with the rest of the framework with the line #include <Foundation/foundation.h>. Is this class not available for iOS(4.2)? Is there some other class that i can use? TIA

• Wireless will not connect

  Hello, I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on the same machine as my windows setup. However, it will not connect to my wireless network. It can see its there, it can attempt to connect, yet it will never connect. It will keep bringing up the password prompt everyso often. I have tried turning my security to WEP, I ended up turning it back to WPA2. It is set to AES (noted a few threads on google about that). Can you assist?
