  • Unable to sunchronize local and remote directories ("set times: Operation not permitted")

    I'm running into FTP errors using software like NetBeans or WinSCP: whenever I attempt to perform a synchronization or update of files from local -- server I get errors on the client saying "set times: Operation not permitted". This is clearly an issue with the way I've configured my Fedora installation. The user that I'm logging in with cannot touch -t any of these files, though he IS part of a group that has r/w access on the files. I do have root / sudo access to this server. What I would like to know is: a) is it likely that this problem would be solved by allowing my FTP user to "touch -t" these files b) how do I enable a certain user to be able to set timestamps on files without giving them ownership of the files (certain of these files need to be owned by Apache, for instance, so I don't want to chown them).   • Untar multiple files in different directories

    Hi, am trying to perform an update on multiple site that use an open source CMS but untaring a patch file in each sites httpdocs directory. My plan was to perform a find for the patch file then untar using the following command: find . -name "patchfile.tar.gz" -exec tar -xzvf {} \; -print but it doesnt seem to work successfully anyone have any ideas as to why not?     I'm doing some work on a webpage, meaning I gotta modify a few things. As a result of this I installed apache and all the things that come associated with it, and also installed Joomla, and I got everything running well. My problem is, I need to make apache run this website locally, so I downloaded the public_html folder from the FTP server on my website, but I have absolutely no idea how to implement the website in order to make it run on apache. I've read a few guides, but they all tell me how to create a new website instead of helping me host a website already done.

  • find directories in the current directory, older than 5 days and archive them

    This is basic questions. I need to find folders in the current working directory(not recursively) and if they are older than 5 days archive them. zip or tar.gz is fine. I can find the folders with following commands find ./ -maxdepth 1 -type d -mtime +5 And i know i can pass this output of the find using xargs. But i do not know how to archive with folder name intact. That is the directory test1 should be archived to test1.zip and directory "test2" should be archived to "test2.zip". Any inputs are welcome.   • Rewrite 2 different directories with htaccess?

    I have a tricky problem (for me at least). I'm trying to rewrite / to a folder /webroot/www. I have some simple code and it works: RewriteRule ^$ /webroot/www/ [L] However at the same time if the URL starts with components, followed by anything else (ex. foo, as in /components/foo), and foo is an actual directory that exists inside components, I should rewrite to /components/foo/www instead. How can I achieve that? I can't seem to figure it out. I'm using Apache with .htaccess.

    Hello, I'm trying to sync my music collection between my mac and my linux workstation but fails to mirror from my server share to linux. rsync -avz --progress Music/ /volumes/myserver/music works fine but the reverse on my linux ws doesnt. rsync -avz --progress /path/to/samba/share/music/ ~/Music does nothing..     Does anyone of you know how to perform the following task: Suppose you have two directory trees, which I will call source and target. They may have a very different structure, but could contain many duplicate files. An example would be a structured collection of photographs on one hand (the destination), and just a tmp directory in which you unload everything from your camera on the other (the source). Maybe some of these files are already in the structured directory tree. I would like to rsync from the source to the target, such that only the files from the source that are not in the destination at any location are copied.

  • Increase in Virtual Memory [closed]

    If we increase the virtual memory of windows server 2008 will it improve the performance on the application. upto what size can we increase the virtual memory in 32bit server. What are disadvantages and advantages of it? we are running bulk jobs(all imports and exports) everyday at 3pm.. because of that we are getting some system out of memory exceptions and and application is going down.   • is there anyway to clean up old svn directories and files from old source code tree

    i have been sent a directory tree of source code that i want to import into my subversion repository. The issue is that at some point this code was in a different subversion repository. There are a huge number of directories and subdirectories and i basically want to clean up all of the subversion .svn folders before i attempt to import to a new repository and i dont want svn to get confused. is there anyway to clean out a directory structure to remove all svn references?

  • SVN directories not showing up in localhost when using WAMP

    Hi: I recently installed WAMP for actual local use. I've worked on live development servers but now am working on localhost. I've managed to get multiple virtual hosts setup on my WAMP/Vista 64-bit box but am having difficulty with directories pulled from SVN. I have four vhosts setup. Two work well and they are not tied to any SVN just yet. I'm also using TortoiseSVN in case it makes any difference. However, the other projects are coming from SVN repositories. When I view these two projects I get the following error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. The way I setup the vhosts is as follows: httpd.conf # Multiple Virtual Hosts <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.1.0> ServerName testone.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projectone/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.2.0> ServerName testtwo.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projecttwo/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.3.0> ServerName testthree.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projectthree/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.3.1> ServerName testfour.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projectfour/" </VirtualHost> And here's the 'hosts' file: # Localhost 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost # Project One 127.0.1.0 testone.local # Project Two 127.0.2.0 testtwo.local # Project Three 127.0.3.0 testthree.local # Project Four 127.0.3.1 testfour.local Everything works just fine.   • How do I organise my libraries in sub-directories in a web application project

    I am working on a huge web-application with hundreds of dependencies (jar files). I want to organise the jars in sensible way as each piece of software comes with its bunch of jar files and when I want to remove or upgrade version of that software it will be easier to do if kept in sub directories. Problem is that when using a web-server (I'm using tomcat), all libs need to be under WEB-INF/lib folder, you cannot create subdirectories otherwise it doesn't load the jars in subdirectories.
