• Using interface classes and non-virtual interface idiom in C++

  Hi all, In C++ an interface can be implemented by a class with all its methods pure virtual: class IFoo { public: virtual void method() = 0; }; Now I want to implement this interface by a hierarchy of classes: class FooBase : public IFoo // implement interface IFoo { public: void method(); // calls methodImpl; private: virtual void methodImpl(); }; For the class hierarchy I would like to use the non-virtual interface (NVI) idiom, to deny derived classes the possibility of overriding the common behavior implemented in FooBase::method(), but it seems that all derived classes have the opportunity to override the FooBase::method() because it is declared in the interface class. Is my observation correct? And if so are there other options to both use interface classes and the NVI idiom?

  I would like to find all the directories that are in a .tgz file and that already exist on the system and put the result in a bash variable. I have tried this: EXISTING=`for f in \`tar tzf $ARCHIVE\`; do if [ -d "/tmp/unpacked-data/\$f" ]; then echo \$f; fi; done` with no luck. If I echo the value of $f before the if in the loop, I get all the files, ie this works: EXISTING=`for f in \`tar tzf $ARCHIVE\`; do echo \$f; done` Can someone tell me why the \$f doesn't work in the if statement?   My question is : Is it possible to create a working IIS 6.0 Virtual Directory with providing Physical Path of the Virtual Directory.? I know that manually, it is not possible via IIS but programmatically such a virtual directory can be created. If an HTTPRedirect is set on that virtual directory but the site physical path is not specified, then will it work?   Few hours back I was fiddling with a Memory Leak issue and it turned out that I really got some basic stuff about virtual destructors wrong! Let me put explain my class design. class Base { virtual push_elements() {} }; class Derived:public Base { vector<int> x; public: void push_elements(){ for(int i=0;i <5;i++) x.push_back(i); } }; void main() { Base* b = new Derived(); b->push_elements(); delete b; } The bounds checker tool reported a memory leak in the derived class vector. And I figured out that the destructor is not virtual and the derived class destructor is not called. And it surprisingly got fixed when I made the destructor virtual. Isn't the vector deallocated automatically even if the derived class destructor is not called? Is that a quirk in BoundsChecker tool or is my understanding of virtual destructor wrong?

When attempting to build a session factory however, I get error messages similar to the following: Core.Domain.Entities.Delivery: method remove_Scheduled should be virtual Delivery is an entity in my domain model with an event called Scheduled. Since events cannot be declared virtual I'm at a loss as to how to proceed here. Why would NHibernate need events to be virtual?

• Mixing .NET versions between website and virtual directories and the "server application unavailable" error Message

  Backstory Last month our development team created a new asp.net 3.5 application to place out on our production website. Once we had the work completed, we requested from the group that manages are server to copy the app out to our production site, and configure the virtual directory as a new application. On 12/27/2010, two public 'Gineau Pigs' were selected to use the app, and it worked great. On 12/30/2010, We received notification by internal staff, that when that staff member tried to access the application (this was the Business Process Owner) they recieved the 'Server Application Unavailable' message. When I called the group that does our server support, I was told that it probably failed, because I didn't close the connections in my code. However, the same group went in and then created a separate app pool for this Extension Request application. It has had no issues since. I did a little googling, since I do not like being blamed for things. I found that the 'Server Application Unavailable' message will also appear when you have multiple applications using different frameworks and you do not put them in different application pools. Technical Details - Tree of our website structure Main Website <-- ASP Classic +-Virtual Directory(ExtensionRequest) <-- ASP 3.5 From our server support group: 'Reviewed server logs and website setup in IIS. Had to reset the application pool as it was not working properly. This corrected the website and it is now back online. We went ahead and created a application pool for the extension web so it is isolated from the main site pool. In the past we have seen other application do this when there is a connection being left open and the pool fills up. Would recommend reviewing site code to make sure no connections are being left open.' The Real Question: What really caused the failure? Isn't the connection being left open issue an ASP Classic issue? Wouldn't the ExtensionRequest application have to be used (more than twice) in the first place to have the connections left open? Is it more likely the failure is caused by them not bothering to setup the new Application in it's own App Pool in the first place? Sorry for the long windedness

• Is it possible to link directories in git?

  I will start with a simplified example describing my intent. I have a repository my-rep.git containing two directories, src and deploy. In src I have my source code (NodeJS code, but that doesn't matter), and in deploy I want to keep my deploy configuration. So for example if I have a project, projectA, then the structure should look like this, my-rep.git/src/projectA my-rep.git/deploy/projectA/dotcloud.yml my-rep.git/deploy/projectA/src Now to my question. I want the source code in projectA to be available in the deploy directory for dotcloud. Is there any way I can make my-rep.git/deploy/projectA/src point to my-rep.git/src/projectA, that is, so when I do a git pull in deploy it will automatically pull the my-rep.git/deploy/projectA/src. It must be supported in git, symbolic linux links won't work as some developers in my team work in Windows.

• Imagecache, Views, file renaming, and output directories

  I have been trying to figure this one out for awhile and just seem to be getting myself deeper into a rabbit hole.. I think it would be best if I would just explain what I am trying to accomplish and go from there.. Essentially what I would like to happen is a user would upload a photograph from the filefield sources on a content type, and then using views, it would output that different image through different imagecache actions.. The problem seems to be that the actual directories it is making is really cluttered and I would like it to be a little bit more organized due to some file renaming. Here is how I would like the process to happen: Upload image.jpg Imagecache resize 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-100.jpg Imagecache desaturate 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-d-100.jpg Currently it seems that every imagecache action will save that file in its own directory..   Hi, My GUI project in Qt has a lot of "configuration pages" classes which all inherit directly from QWidget. Recently, I realized that all these classes share 2 commons slots (loadSettings() and saveSettings()). Regarding this, I have two questions: Does it make sense to write a intermediate base abstract class (lets name it BaseConfigurationPage) with these two slots as virtual pure methods ? (Every possible configuration page will always have these two methods, so I would say "yes") Before I do the heavy change in my code (if I have to) : does Qt support virtual pure slots ? Is there anything I should be aware of ? I can provide, say, a text file that lists each file and the target directory for it. Then I need help creating a batch file that will actually extract these files into their target locations. • Debug website on host from virtual machine

  I have a Windows 7 machine hosting a Windows 7 virtual machine. I am developing a web application using visual studio 2010 on my host machine. I want to run the application in debug mode and access my localhost server from a browser on the virtual machine. (The purpose of this is to be able to debug an application that uses Windows Authentication using different users without having to log off and on for different users on my host machine...) I am using a bridged connection for the virtual machine. I googled how to solve this problem and most of the threads that I found said that if I was using a bridged connection, I could access the server on the host machine by just entering the IP address of my host machine into the url in the browser of the virtual machine. I have tried some different urls using the IP but none of them have worked. As an example, suppose I run my web application in visual studio on my host machine and its url is http://localhost:62789/MyPage.aspx Assume also that I ran ipconfig in CommandPrompt on my host machine and found out that the IP address for my host machine is xxx.xxx.xxx.x. What url should I enter on the virtual machine to access my web application? Thanks in advance.

• Different lib directories of JBpss

  There is a number of different lib directories JBoss (5.1.0) uses: I can find jboss/lib, jboss/lib/endorsed, jboss/common/lib, jboss/server/default/lib and of course the jboss/server/default/deploy/myapp/WEB-INF/lib (am I missing something ?). From the above, I know that I need to use the last one (WEB-INF/lib) to put any jars my app needs. What about all the others ? What is their use and what should I put there ? Why put it there and not in the WEB-INF/lib ? Thanks !

My problem is following: I would like to create a bash script with read the active contacts names from the file and compare it with the directories. • How to move many files in multiple different directories (on Linux)

  My problem is that I have too many files in single directory. I cannot "ls" the directory, cos is too large. I need to move all files in better directory structure. I'm using the last 3 digits from ID as folders in reverse way. For example ID 2018972 will gotta go in /2/7/9/img_2018972.jpg. I've created the directories, but now I need help with bash script. I know the IDs, there are in range 1,300,000 - 2,000,000. But I can't handle regular expressions. I wan't to move all files like this: /images/folder/img_2018972.jpg -> /images/2/7/9/img_2018972.jpg I will appreciate any help on this subject. Thanks!

  Hi, Let say I have a directory which is being hosted by Jetty or Apache (i'd like an answer for both), i know the URL including the port and i can log into the server. How can i find the directory that is being hosted by a certain port? I'd also like to go the other way, i have a folder on the server, which i know if being hosted, but i don't know the port so i can't find it in a web browser. • SCVMM 2012 R2 - Installing Virtual Switch Fails with Error 2916

  So I've been attempting to teach myself SCVMM 2012 and Hyper-V Server 2012 R2, and I seem to have hit a snag. I've connected my Hyper-V Host to SCVMM 2012 successfully, and created a logical network, logical switch, and uplink port profile (which I essentially blew through with the default settings). However when I attempt to create a virtual switch on my Hyper-V host, I run into an issue. The job will use my logical network settings I created to configure the virtual switch, but when it tries to apply it to the host, it stalls and eventually fails with the following error: Error (2916) VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the agent vmhost1.test.loc was lost. WinRM: URL: [h**p://vmhost1.test.loc:5985], Verb: [GET], Resource: [h**p://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/virtualization/v2/Msvm_ConcreteJob?InstanceID=2F401A71-14A2-4636-9B3E-10C0EE942D33] Unknown error (0x80338126) Recommended Action Ensure that the Windows Remote Management (WinRM) service and the VMM agent are installed and running and that a firewall is not blocking HTTP/HTTPS traffic. Ensure that VMM server is able to communicate with econ-hyperv2.econ.loc over WinRM by successfully running the following command: winrm id –r:vmhost1.test.loc This problem can also be caused by a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service crash. If the server is running Windows Server 2008 R2, ensure that KB 982293 (h**p://support.microsoft.com/kb/982293) is installed on it. If the error persists, restart vmhost1.test.loc and then try the operation again. Refer to h**p://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details. I restarted the server, and upon booting am greeted with a message stating "No active network adapters found." • Mixing SSL and non-SSL content in an Apache2 virtual host

  I have a (hopefully) common scenario for one of my sites that I just can't seem to figure out how to deploy correctly. I have the following site and directories for example.com: These need to require SSL: /var/www/example.com/admin /var/www/example.com/order These need to be non-SSL: /var/www/example.com/maps These need to support both: /var/www/example.com/css /var/www/example.com/js /var/www/example.com/img I have two virtual host declarations for the one site in my /sites-available/example.com file; the top one is *:443 the second one is *:80. Since I have two sites, and if a request comes in on 443, the top virtualhost is used, same with the bottom if it's a port 80 request. However, I can't seem to enforce my SSL requirements using SSLRequireSSL because I'm assuming a port 80 request to /admin or /order is not even hitting the *:443 vhost. Should I just Deny All to /order and /admin within the *:80 virtual host so that if you try to request it on 80, you'll get a 403 Forbidden?

• I need to get VMWare Server running inside of a VMWare ESXi virtual machine

  Yes, I know running a virtual machine inside of a virtual machine is a bad idea. Yes, I know it will be very slow. However, our production system required VMs in VMWare server and I do not want to setup a real server for each of our developers for testing. I would like to be able to setup all of the VMWare servers (that mimic our production environment) on one ESXi server. I have found as much info as I can about this topic and I have tried what was suggested here and here. I have not been able to get any of these suggestions to work, I still get the VM cannot run inside of a VM error. If there are any other suggestions that anybody else have that would be great thanks.
