Currently I have... var rawdataCacheItems = [{'cachereq':'14:52:03','name':'Test1','cacheID':'3','ver':'7'}]; var cacheInfo = new dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore({ data: { identifier: 'cacheID', label: 'cacheID', items: rawdataCacheItems } }); I'd like to make a XHR request to get a new JSON string of the data to render. • How to center an R plot

  I'm working on visualizing a matrix in R (almost exactly like http://reference.wolfram.com/mathematica/ref/MatrixPlot.html), and I've been using image(<matrix>,axes=FALSE) to draw the picture. However, I noticed that with the y-axis turned off, the plot isn't centered--the space is still there for the axis ticks + label. I can finagle some centering with par(oma=c(0,0,0,2.5)) but this seems inefficient and error-prone (if my matrix were to change dimensions/become non-square). Is there a better way to force the graphic to center? The right hand margin is significantly smaller than the left.

• Managing string resources in a Java application - singleton?

  I seek a solution to the age-old problem of managing string resources. My current implementation seems to work well, but it depends on using singletons, and I know how often singletons can be maligned. The resource manager class has a singleton instance that handles lookups in the ResourceBundle, and you use it like so: MessageResources mr = MessageResources.getMessageResources(); // returns singleton instance ... JLabel helloLabel = new JLabel(mr.getString("label.hello")); Is this an appropriate use of a singleton? Is there some better, more universally used approach that I'm not aware of? I understand that this is probably a bit subjective, but any feedback I can get would be appreciated. I'd rather find out early on that I'm doing it wrong than later on in the process. Thanks!

• Changing text size on a ggplot bump plot

  Hi, I'm fairly new to ggplot. I have made a bumpplot using code posted below. I got the code from someones blog - i've lost the link.... I want to be able to increase the size of the lables (here letters which care very small on the left and right of the plot) without affecting the width of the lines (this will only really make sense after you have run the code) I have tried changing the size paramater but that always alter the line width as well. Any suggestion appreciated. • Java portable media detection

  I would like to write a piece of java code that synchronizes files between local hard drive and a usb storage. I would like to have a different synchronization configuration depending on which usb storage is plugged in and I would like to have apropriate configuration to be selected automatically rather than chosen by the user. I've just read the JSR-80 and jUSB documentation as well as a bunch of articles and SO posts, but all of those are very old and it seems that since that time (around 2005) all the efforts have been abandoned especially for Windows platform, while the OS-independence is quite important to me (at least Windows and Linux need to be supported). Do I really need to use any of the USB APIs to recognize external drives that are connected to the system? I need something that is more unique than file path, drive letter or drive label... And if yes which one would you recommend (unless I missed something jUnit is actually the only for which Windows support exists).

  I want to create a GUI driven application for a micro-controller (Atmel XMEGA) that is connected to a 128x64 dots graphics LCD (EA DOGL128-6) and 4 buttons for navigation. Controlling the display itself (e.g. drawing pixels and characters) is no problem but in order to prevent me from reinventing the wheel I was googling for a GUI-Library/-Toolkit that is written in c, includes its source code, will run on a 32 MHz 8-bit micro-controller and provides at least the following controls: panel (to group elements) menu (scrollable) icon label button line-graph (optional) But I didn't find any thing useful. Does anyone know (or better uses) such a library(preferably for free)?

Basically I have a Resource at the lowest level and I would like to provide a number of organisational groupings for that resource in the form of labels. If anyone has implemented something like that I would like to hear your views. My idea is to have within the Resource instance a List<Label>.   I am trying to write a launchd.plist file for my node server. I am using forever to run my node server. I would like the server to start on boot. I would also like to wait for the mongodb launchd plist to run first. I installed mongobb using homebrew and it came with a launchd.plist already. • Bash script "read" not pausing for user input when executed from SSH shell

  I'm new to Bash scripting, so please be gentle. I'm connected to a Ubuntu server via SSH (PuTTY) and when I run this command, I expect the bash script that downloads and executes to allow user input and then echo that input. It seems to just write out the echo label for the input request and terminate. wget -O - https://raw.github.com/aaronhancock/pub/master/bash/readtest.sh | bash Any clue what I might be doing wrong? If I will delete it, my object will be saved properly. I dont quite understand whats going on and since I have defined almost all of my models this way, I fear its totally wrong or maybe I just missunderstood it... Any ideas? Regards

• Custom date time picker for Windows Forms that is locked to GMT time

  Using Visual Studio 2008, c#, .net 2.0. I have a Windows Forms client application that contains a scheduling UI section, currently this is housed only in the London office with the standard datetime picker control, the selected time is saved in a UK database (GMT) and a London based server aapplication processes the schedules. There is a requirement to roll the client out to various global locations, Hong Kong, New York etc and allow them to setup schedules that run according to GMT time on the London server. I'll have a label on screen saying "note schedules are GMT" what I need is a good way to present a datetime picker that always shows and is in sync with the database server's GMT time regardless of where the client app is running globally. Suggestions on how to acheive this? thanks.

I've completed the MVC Music Store tutorial, and now I'm trying to add some administrator functionality - practice as I will have to do this in an MVC application in my job. The application is using the aspnet membership api, and what I have done so far is created a view to list the users. What I want to be able to do, is click on the users name in order to change their password. To try and carry the username to the changeUserPassword controller (custom made). I registered a new route in the global.asax.cs file in order to display the username in the URL, which is working so far. • ExtJS TabPanel content does not shrink in IE6

  I'm using ExtJS 3.2 and have content inside of a tab panel, and the tab panel inside of a container in a Viewport. The actual TabPanel resizes correctly on the viewport size changes, but the content inside a panel in the TabPanel seems to be a fixed width and will not shrink when the window is resized.The strange thing is it grows if I increase the window size. How can I get the content inside a Tabpanel to shrink on window resizing. Sorry for this being confusing, my structure is this: Viewport (rendered to body, and sets defaults {monitorResize:true}) - Text Label - TabPanel - Tab - Container (Border Layout) - Panel 1 (Center) - Panel 2 (East) - Panel 3 (South) Thanks in advance!

• firefox displaying .swf with wrong dimensions

  I can't figure this one out. I have a flex app with fixed dimensions (950 x 700). I'm compiling the swf and using the default wrapper that flex generates. in some instances of Firefox, the dimensions are wrong. On top of that, with different domains, I get the .swf rendered with different dimensions (both wrong). Firefox 3.6.3 on one computer works fine. On another, the dimensions are off. Swf example and if you don't see a clipped swf...here are the screenshots. Rendered incorrectly on one domain And rendered in another domain with different bad dimensions. I'm at a total loss. When I embed the .swf with swfobject, I get the same issue. In the example you see, there's nothing in the app except for a single label centered on the stage.

• Can I fix the width of JRadioButton?

  I have sever JPanels which have to be ordered vertically. For that I want to fix the width of the JPanels. Because if they are too short in comparison with the windows width, they will go horizontally (one after another) and I do not want it. At the moment the width of the JPanel is not constant because the width of the JRadioButton (included into JPabel) is not constant. How can I make the width of the JRadioButton constant? At the moment it is not constant because of the label (which can be different).

• JSON in an AJAX request

  I have a PHP API I'm working with that outputs everything as JSON. I need to call one of the API methods and parse it out using an AJAX request. I am using jQuery (though it shouldn't matter). When I make the request it errors out with a "parsererror" as the textStatus and a "Syntax Error: invalid label" when I make the request. Alt-Tab to other window and Alt-Tab back to IE window. The internal HTML will appear ouside of IFRAME boundaries. The screenshot demonstrating the problem. Does the IFRAME rendering have a bug? May be I have an unpatched version (automatic updates are turned ON). Could you suggest a workaround except turning on Compatability View? Thank you.
