• SQL Server - Storing multiple decimal values in a column?

  I know storing multiple values in a column. Not a good idea. It violates first normal form --- which states NO multi valued attributes. Normalize period... I am using SQL Server 2005 I have a table that require to store lower limit and uppper limit for a measurement, think of it as a minimum and maximum speed limit... only problem is only 2 % out of hundread i need upper limit. I will only have data for lower limit. I was thinking to store both values in a column (Sparse column introduces in 2008 so not for me) Is there a way...? Not sure about XML..

• Are entities cached in jpa by default ?

  Hello, I add entity to my database and it works fine. But when i retrieve the List, i get the old entity, the new entities i add are not shown until i undeploy the application and redeploy it again. This means are my entities cached by default? But, I haven't made any settings for caching entities in my persistence.xml or any such file. I have even tried calling flush(), refresh() and merge(). But still it shows the old entities only. Am i missing something? Please help me.

• Managing changes in memory-based data format

  So I've been using a compact data type in c++, and saving from memory or loading from the file involves just copying the bits of memory in and out. However, the obvious drawback of this is that if you need to add/remove elements on the data, it becomes kind of messy. There's also problems with versioning, suppose you distribute a program which uses version A of the data, and then the next day you make version B of it, and then later on version C. I suppose this can be solved by using something like xml or json. But suppose you can't do that for technical reasons. What is the best way to do this, apart from having to make different if cases etc (which would be pretty ugly, I'd imagine)

  I am trying to get my head around annotation based mappings and I am having some trouble mapping requests directly to jsp. Do all request have to go through a controller? Is it possible to make it just go to a jsp without declaring a RequestMapping for GET? I am using a InternalResourceViewResolver. • GWT tries to load a deleted module

  I am using Eclispe with Google plugin for AppEngine and GWT. Recently I created a test GWT module, but eventually it has been deleted from the project and I can not find any sign of it in the project now. However, whenever I run the web app locally, I get in console the following message: Loading modules com.piq.exemity.Test [ERROR] Unable to find 'com/XXXXXX/Test.gwt.xml' on your classpath; could be a typo, or maybe you forgot to include a classpath entry for source? Has anyone got any idea where it can be hiding?

  Iam new to iphone development and have been tasked to development a fairly simple iphone application. It would basically show listings of information eg accommodations, restaurants...around 8-9 different types. Drilling on one would show the details of it. These are dynamically sourced from a db (through an xml feed) that powers an existing website. Also users should have ability to save favourites and also an interactive google map showing locations of these places. Just would like to know how long would such an iphone application take to develop and what would it costs. As iam new to iphone dev, i do not know how big the scope is, any complications to anticipate, scope creep issues, and how much to charge. Want to give a reasonable estimate so that i dont overcharge.

• ASP.NET MVC submitting json array to controller as regular post request (nonajax)

  All the examples of json I can find online only show how to submit json arrays w/ the jquery command $.ajax(). I'm submitting some data from a custom user control as a json array. I was wondering if it's possible to submit a json array as a regular post request to the server (like a normal form) so the browser renders the page returned. Controller: [JsonFilter(Param = "record", JsonDataType = typeof(TitleViewModel))] public ActionResult SaveTitle(TitleViewModel record) { // save the title. return RedirectToAction("Index", new { titleId = tid }); } Javascript: function SaveTitle() { var titledata = GetData(); $.ajax({ url: "/Listing/SaveTitle", type: "POST", data: titledata, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", }); } Which is called from a save button. Everything works fine but the browser stays on the page after submitting. I was thinking of returning some kind of custom xml from the server and do javascript redirect but it seems like a very hacky way of doing things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Is there a free code coverage tool suitable for use with .NET 4 and NUnit that runs from the command line (and is thus suitable for use on a build server)? Please note that any tools that require editions of Visual Studio higher than Professional are not appropriate in this case. I am asking this question because I can't get NCover 1.5.8 to work with NUnit 2.5.5 on a .NET 4 C# app. I can run the unit tests, and I can generate a Coverage.Xml file, but it is empty - it contains no sequence points. After a lot of research, I have concluded that this is because NCover 1.5.8 simply doesn't work with .NET 4. However, if you know better, please feel free to answer this question from another user.

For that you have to include 5 jars to your android application: guava-r09.jar google-http-client-extensions-android2-1.6.0-beta.jar google-api-client-extensions-android2-1.6.0-beta.jar google-http-client-1.6.0-beta.jar google-api-client-1.6.0-beta.jar and digging into google-api-java-client javadocs for fast-changing api. Does it worth the effort? in term of android specifics and device fragmentation? Isn't it reasonable to write your own simple http response parser or take small existing library like google-spreadsheet-lib-android ? Thanks! For some reason, Net::HTTP is requested, and I never get in touch with the server, so I end up with an EOF. Any clues?

  Hi, I am trying to determine if MY xsl:fo generated PDF file will exceed one page or not, without actually generating the output. We use Apache-FOP 0.95 on our server, and the XML data is being generated using a PHP DOMDocument class before being passed onto an XSL-FO template. My question: Are there PHP libraries out there that can simulate xsl:fo output and send me reports that I can use in my application? Alternatively, is there a way for the Apache FOP itself (or sibling Java app) that sends reports without actually generating a file? I have been reading the FOP documentation, and aside from some things I can not fully understand, I have not been able to find a way to do that from within FOP. Any advice is much appreciated.

• Is it possible to have Ant print out the classpath for a particular target? If so, how?

  I'm trying to get a target to build that has quite a long list of <pathelement location="${xxx}"/> and <path refid="foo.class.path"/> elements in its <path id="bar.class.path"> element (in the build.xml file). I keep getting "package com.somecompany.somepackage does not exist" errors, and I'm having a hard time chasing down these packages and making sure I've synced them from our repository. I'm new to this team so I'm unfamiliar with the build, but I would prefer to figure this out myself if possible (so I don't bother the other very busy team members). I have very limited experience with Ant. I think it would save me quite a bit of time if I could have Ant print out the classpath for the target I'm trying to build.

• Can I assign a maven dependency to a specific repo?

  So I have several large projects that use up to 8 different external repos, all specified in settings.xml rather than in poms. A lot of our internal dependencies are snapshots, so this obviously causes a lot of checking for updates across several external repos, when they are all in our internal repo. So my question is, is there a way to setup a profile/filter or anything similar where I can ensure that an update will only be checked for in a specific repo(s)?   Hi all, Recently, we came across a severe problem in production farm with the Content Types. I would like to explain the background of this problem first. We have nice working feature for Content Types installation in production and test farms. We developed and deployed (using wsps) this SharePoint feature in Visual studio. We are using the publishing pages using page layouts and Content Types to help content editors to quickly publish the web pages. Unfortunately, some Content Types have been manually updated/added by some people in the production, so whenever I (developer) make some changes to the existing Content Types (using Visual Studio and feature activation/deactivation) , SharePoint removes one or two columns (during feature activation/deactivation) from Content Types; or the columns which have not been added in a best practice way. I think the best practice is to update Content Types using Visual Studio. Now, I wish to ensure that site columns shouldn't get removed from Content Types upon feature activation/deactivation. Note: Our feature for Content Type activation/deactivation doesn't hold any activation dependencies in the feature.xml

THe problem i am having is setting the button width to the text width. currently the buttons are all the same width and if the text is larger then it just cuts off.
