• Compile android project to apk without eclipse

  What I have done is I have taken the class-files from my eclipse project and run them trough an optimizer/obfuscator. So I now have optimized class-files that I want to get in the form of an apk so I can sign and publish it. However, I am lost on how to do this. I guess I cant just copy them into the bin-folder of my eclipse-project, because eclipse would just overwrite them with a new compilation when I try to export a signed apk. So how do I create an apk from these class-files? Cheers,

• Showing all a Gem's build flags

  This is more a curiosity than necessity question. I've just installed nokogiri again with RubyGems and it is saying "WARNING: Nokogiri was built against LibXML version 2.7.5, but has dynamically loaded 2.7.6" This is easy enough to fix, but it lead to a more general question: how do I see all the configuration options for a rubygem before installing it? I found the easiest way I know how is to visit the gem folder an run "ruby nokogiri-0.0.0/ext/nokogiri/extconf.rb -h" and that shows me it, but there has to be an easier way, right? I was expecting some kind of "sudo gem install nokogiri -- --help" command that would show the build flags. I've searched around a bit but didn't see anything, anybody know how to do this before I go digging into RG's source :)?

• In linux, is there a way to set a default permission for newly created files and directories under a

  I have a bunch of long-running scripts and applications that are storing output results in a directory shared amongst a few users. I would like a way to make sure that every file and directory created under this shared directory automatically had u=rwxg=rwxo=r permissions. I know that I could use umask 006 at the head off my various scripts, but I don't like that approach as many users write their own scripts and may forget to set the umask themselves. I really just want the filesystem to set newly created files and directories with a certain permission if it is in a certain folder. Is this at all possible? Update: I think it can be done with POSIX ACLs, using the Default ACL functionality, but it's all a bit over my head at the moment. If anybody can explain how to use Default ACLs it would probably answer this question nicely.

• Selective PHP autoload

  I am writing a add-on module which is integrated with an existing PHP application; Because I am using a MVC pattern, and which may requires lot of inclusion of classes (which might not be used at all depending on the action of the user), I decide to use autoloading of classes. However, I have to ensure that the autoload function does not interferes with the normal operations of the existing applications. Does autoload only kicks in if a class name is not defined? Say I have to write another module which uses its own autoload functions (say, I have an autoload for a module, since they each reside in their own folder), how do I differentiate which module is it for? For #2, I thought of 2 options. Either prefix the class name with the module name (Such as 'MyNewModule_View_Default' and 'AnotherModule_View_Default'), or use file_exists to check the include file exists. Other suggestions are welcomed too!

  So, I'm not sure what is going on with my system (ubuntu 12.04), but my man pages do not seem to be working. • Custom Application Page does not recognize tagPrefix defined in custom web.config

  I have a custom application page integrated in Centeral Administration. My application pages are placed in a subfolder in Template\Admin folder. I placed my own web.config in my subfolder and added tagPrefixes in the control section. However when I open my application page ASP.NET throws the exception that the tag SharePoint:InputFormTextBox was not recognized. What am I doing wrong? Or it doesn't work this way? What can i do to achieve this?

• Unix file naming convention for effective tab completion?

  I feel like I often name files in such a way that my computer constantly beeps while I program because the tab completion is ambiguous. Before doing a lot of Unix programming, I tended to name related files with the same prefix to indicate their relation. Now I must re-think my approach to folder and file structures and names to program more effectively. What heuristics or rules do you apply when programming to simplify tab completion? Do you use any tools to make tab completion smoother (e.g., emacs icicles)?

• Eclipse IDE's Hello World Cheatsheet seems to have a mistake

  Hey guys, Just a warning: I'm completely new to Java and am trying to teach myself Android programming. I installed the Eclipse IDE today and tried to walk through the first Java Hello World "cheat sheet," and it didn't work! I was really quite surprised. When it asked me to select the checkbox to create the main() method, there wasn't anything on-screen that looked like a checkbox with "main()" or "method" next to it, so I guessed that maybe what they meant was the "Modifiers" radio button. So I left that checked for "public." It didn't compile and I got red X's next to every folder in my Package Explorer. Has anybody else had this problem? Thanks!

  I built a .NET web service connecting to an MSSQL database. There is a web service call GetAllQuestions() that will not change. I saved the result of GetAllQuestions to GetAllQuestions.xml in the local application folder and set it to content. Normally I would get the result of the web service like this: var myService = new SATService(); var serviceQuestions = myService.GetAllQuestions(); I want to try something like: var serviceQuestions = File.Open("GetAllQuestions.xml"); Any suggestions are much appreciated!

• Are there any real benefits to including javascript dynamically rather than as script tags at the bo

  I've read that including the scripts dynamically may provide some better performance, however i'm not really seeing that on the small local tests I'm doing. I created a jquery plugin to dynamically load other plugins as necessary and am curious as to if this is actually a good idea. • Use absolute path for easier modify include path in future?

  config.php put at the root level, this file will be included in any pages. Then at config.php <?php define( 'ROOT_DIR', dirname(__FILE__) ); ?> So at all other pages from different sub/a.php , sub/sub/b.php directories, when I want to include a specific file in specific location, I just need to include( ROOT_DIR.'/include/functions.php' ); In windows server, the ROOT_DIR bring the value to C:/inetpub/vhosts/domain.com Is this a good/secure way? It seems like via this way, when I move the b.php to other upper level folder, I don't need to do any changes to the include file path, which is good for maintenance. Any cons? Like SEO wise, or any other reason... What you guys think.

• Properties.Settings Ambiguity after adding LINQ to SQL

  I have recently linked a database to my C# service by creating a LINQ to SQL item in my solution. Everything was fine and dandy as I was continuing to code, but then I suddenly noticed that there where 16 Ambiguity errors. e.g. Ambiguity between 'EmailService.Properties.Settings.defaultInstance' and 'EmailService.Properties.Settings.defaultInstance' What happened was that the database file decided to create it's own Setting.Designer.cs; So now I have a Settings.Designer.cs and a Settings1.Designer.cs (which was created by the LINQ to SQL file) in my Properties folder. Is there anyway that I can change where the database file is referencing its settings so I can delete the duplicate?

• loading multiple .mat files in MATLAB

  I have 110 files named time1.mat, time2.mat ..., time110.mat. I want to load these matrices into the MATLAB workspace. I have always used load -'ASCII' matrix.mat to load an ASCII matrix file in the current folder. So I tried doing for i=1:10 filename=strcat('time',int2str(i),'.mat'); load -'ASCII' filename end But I am getting a MATLAB error as ??? Error using ==> load Unable to read file filename: No such file or directory. ? Of course the string filename seems to be evaluated correctly by MATLAB as time1.mat. in the first iteration where it crashes at the load line. Any suggestions how I should do this?

  Hi, I installed uppercut in my system successfully, Then i installed cc.net, for automated build revision number, I followed all the steps in the following site, http://ferventcoder.com/archive/2009/05/21/uppercut---automated-builds---cruisecontrol.net-integration.aspx The same config code in that site i used to integrate but still i could find the following error when i run the cc.net svn folder Unable to execute file [D:\CodeBuild\abc\svn]. The file may not exist or may not be executable. --- System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The system cannot find the file specified.. Is there any different procedure to install cc.net??   Hey guys, I'm pretty new to Unit Testing so bare with me. I realize that best best practice is not to auto generate unit tests, however I'd like to use Code Generation to set-up the basic skeleton of the tests. Now, I know Visual Studio 2008 already has the built in "create tests", however, it just creates a flat list of all the classes it's going to test... and it's not for NUnit right? Ideally, I'd like the code generation to follow the folder AND namespace structure of the assembly its generating tests for. Can you guys recommend any good tools which generate NUnit unit tests for .NET assemblies in Visual Studio 2008? cheers!

• Unable to read .rtf file in VS.NET 2008 Setup

  Hello All I have created a simple windows application in .NET 2008. Im packaging the same into a setup file using .NET Setup and Deployment. Also i am customizing it to include a License Agreement UI. And i am pointing the License Agreement window to read the license.rtf file which is being included in the Application folder. After successful build, if i run the setup file i can see the License Agreement window but i cannot see the content of my file. Any ideas what is the issue behind this ? Regards CL

• Visual studio 2010 doesn't make the changes when i do a build/compile a DLL file

  Ok so i change some code, re-build it and then, say for arguments sake i had a print statement outputting 'test2', well if i change it to 'test3' its still re-producing the old code 'test2'. Ive deleted the debug folder and rebuilt but no good. Then randomly about 10 builds later it will catch up. Ive also closed VS2010 and then re-opened the project but that doesnt help. What can i do as i need to see the changes asap? ps it's definitely the correct file EDIT: I've done clean and rebuild but it hasnt done anything EDIT: This is a .dll file which im modifying

  I want to copy files that have timestamps from the time the script begins to run and a hour previous. So I am basically trying to emulate robocopy but with minage and maxage going down to the exact time rather than days.   Hello everyone.. I need some help in using the NSURLCache to download a simple file. It would need to be saved in the Documents folder of the app. I have seen the URLCache example that apple presented, but I didn't find it useful since it was an image that was being shown. In addition there was some complex code on the modification date. I actually need something when the application opens it will begin the download process.   I'd like to migrate my svn repository from my local computer running windows and VisualSVN 2.1.2 to an svn app on webfaction (my Linux hosting solution). Initially I tried dumping the svn: svnadmin dump *path_to_repository* *dumpfile_name* and loading it on the Linux machine svnadmin load *dumpfile_name* I received the following error: svnadmin: Can't open file '*dumpfile_path_and_name*/format': Not a directory I found that on my Windows machine I do have a format folder under the repository. So I copied the entire repository to the Linux machine and tried: svnadmin load *path_to_repository_copy* I received the following error: svnadmin: Expected FS format between '1' and '3'; found format '4' what should I do?
