  • Are google chrome extension "content" scripts sandboxed?

    I was under the impression that the content_scripts were executed right on the page, but it now seems as though there's some sandboxing going on. I'm working on an extension to log all XHR traffic of a site (for debugging and other development purposes), and in the console, the following sniff code works: var o = window.XMLHttpRequest.prototype.open; window.XMLHttpRequest.prototype.open = function(){ console.log(arguments, 'open'); return o.apply(this, arguments); }; console.log('myopen'); console.log(window, window.XMLHttpRequest, window.XMLHttpRequest.prototype, o, window.XMLHttpRequest.prototype.open); This logs a message everytime an XHR is sent. When I put this in an extension, however, the real prototype doesn't get modified. Apparently the window.XMLHttpRequest.prototype that my script is seeing differs from that of the actual page. Is there some way around this? Also, is this sandboxing behavior documented anywhere? I looked around, but couldn't find anything.

  • Problem creating gui from xml -> Strange CPButton behaviour

    Hallo, I'm new to objective-j and cappuccino and just have tried to create a small application, that creates the gui dynamically from a xml file. Unfortunately it works only partially. It seems that the button regions are disorder. This means, that the buttons also response if I click besides the button.... Please help me.   • Post Loading ads from Google Admanager

    I have changed code around to basically load an add the bottom of the page in a hidden div and attached an onload event handler that called document.getElementById(xxx).appendChild() to take the hidden ad and move it into the right spot in my page. This works GREAT.. however when the ad is a text ad it AFTER i move the ad there is nothing in the rendered Iframe. I did tests to see what it looks like before i move it and sure enough the text links load in the IFRAME but the second i do the appendChild call to move the div that contains the ad i seem to loose the contents of the Iframe.   • Filtering data in an array.

    Hi all, I have an array that has 30 date objects. The date objects are indexed in the array from the minimum date value to the maximum date value. What I would like to do is retrieve only 7 dates from the array. Out of the 7, the first one should be the minDate and the last should be the maxDate, with 5 dates in the middle. The 7 numbers should increment evenly from the minDate to the maxDate. How would I accomplish this? Hope I was clear. Thanks, Tonih

  • How to remove the upper right close button

    I need to kill the close 'x' button at the top of a jQuery UI modal dialog box. I have a modal that opens with an OK button that redirects to the site. The site behind the modal is in an iframe. When the user agrees to the statement in the dialog box and clicks the 'OK' button, it redirects to the site that is outside the iframe. If the user clicks on the 'x', it goes to the iframe site, which I do not want to have happen. I need the modal to work as a one-way to the site it goes to. It basically forces the user to accept the user agreement. I would post code, but its an intranet site. Thanks everyone for your help! EDIT: This site is a government intranet portal, not a commercial site. So the goal is NOT to trap a user into the site, but rather to let the user know that the use of this site is restricted and to make sure you understand and accept the user agreement or you cannot use the site.

I need a way to do this dynamically so I won't have to do it for each of the 10 buttons. Hope I was clear, thanks in advance

  • Calling a function that resides in the main page from a plugin?

    I want to call a function from within plugin, but the function is on the main page and not the plugin's .js file. EDIT I have jQuery parsing a very large XML file and building, subsequently, a large list (1.1 MB HTML file when dynamic content is copied, pasted, then saved) that has expand/collapse functionality through a plugin. The overall performance on IE is super slow and doggy, assuming since the page/DOM is so big. I am currently trying to save the collapsed content in the event.data when it is collapsed and remove it from the DOM, then bring it back when it is told to expand... the issue that I am having is that when I bring the content back, obviously the "click" and "hover" events are gone. I'm trying to re-assign them, currently doing so inside the plugin after the plugin expands the content. The issue then though is that is says the function that I declare within the .click() is not defined. As I was reviewing the code in this post this morning after being away over the weekend, I found where I had err'd. This: $(event.data.target + 'a.addButton').click(addResourceToList); Should be this (notice the space before a.addbutton): $(event.data.target + ' a.addButton').click(addResourceToList); Same issue with the "li.resource".   • Making JSON Feed Work Server to Server

    I have a JSON feed (which I don't directly control, I have to ask the server admins to update it), that is returning NULL, or otherwise not working when I try to access it from another server. The actual feed works fine, but I can't get it to work like a normal API. Why can I use Flickr, WhitePages, Twitter, etc's JSON APIs, but for: http://portlandoregon.gov/shared/cfm/json.cfm It returns NULL in the browser when using JS. If I call it on the same server, it's fine though. If this is a server issue, what do I ask the admins to change, and if this is a local (browser) based issue, what am I doing wrong for this one feed that works for every other JSON API?

All tips and pointers on any subject relating are highly welcome. If you are going to make a suggestion and post a snippet or code please explain how it works in detail. The site was design as a interface to display the labs I have to do in my college (the labs are all basic things that I'm way beyond). So I decided to take it all to the next level with this.   • String.fromCharCode & CharacterSets

    Hi Folks, I recently tried to mirror some input within input(text) fields. Using String.fromCharCode(event.which) for instance, translates all 'standard' characters correctly. Well it translates them all to uppercase, but that you can easily catch by looking up the shift key aswell. My Problem is, it can't translate characters like dots, commas, questionmarks etc. First guess was that I have to define a character encoding set, but that does not seem to help.   • Weird black spots on custom Google Map with IE

    Hello. I'm getting some weird black spots with a custom map page (via the Google Maps API v2.x) I have created. (Click SERVICIOS and then the icon farthest south to generate image shown below.) The issue seems to only appear when using Internet Explorer. I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if there is a common fix? Any ideas? Thanks.

When I looked at the html DOM elements in the developer tool, the style tag was inserted but without content, like this: <html> <head> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <style type='text/css'></script> </head> I'm curious as to what causes this? And how to create CSS style in a way that is cross-browser? Thanks!

    I want to select all the children of the body element before element with id foo (which is a child of body). Since it doesn't look like there are :before() or :after() selectors, I've got it working like this: $('body > :first').nextUntil('#foo').andSelf(); but it seems kludgy. Could this be done with fewer function calls, or more efficiently? Maybe something akin to $('body > *:before(#foo)') ?

I tried in Visual studio putting a breakpoint but can't see any property that represents keys. Is it not possible?   • Preventing a Firefox Extension's load event from triggering across tabs

    Hi, I've been working on a Firefox extension that uses an iFrame to do some background scrapping. I have gone through a number of hoops to get it to trigger only once in the window/tab where it should but now when I open a different tab that tab triggers the load event. This was helpful before but doesn't solve the problem: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Code_snippets/On_page_load More frustrating is that if there is this: https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Listening_to_events_on_all_tabs why should I worry about the normal event listener triggering in more than one tab? Any ideas or examples?

  • Having issues when trying to insert an ajax response which is an html block into an element on IE 8

    Hello Everyone just like my title states, I am having issues with IE8 and innerHTML. For whatever reason, when I make an ajax call which returns an html block and try to insert it into an element using innerHTML, the browser gives me an error "Unknown Error Code: 0". The interesting part of this is that, if the message response does not have html element, innerHTML works. My code is like so: setTimeout(function() { element.innerHTML = context.response.message; }, 1000).bind(context) WORKS: context.response.message = 'String'; Does not WORK: context.response.message = '<p>String</p>';
