  • C++/CLI and C#, "Casting" Functions to Delegates, What's the scoop?

    - by Jacob G
    In C# 2.0, I can do the following: public class MyClass { delegate void MyDelegate(int myParam); public MyClass(OtherObject obj) { //THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART obj.SomeCollection.Add((MyDelegate)MyFunction); } private void MyFunction(int myParam); { //... } } Trying to implement the same thing in C++/CLI, it appears I have to do: MyDelegate del = gcnew MyDelegate(this, MyFunction); obj-SomeCollection-Add(del); Obviously I can create a new instance of the delegate in C# as well instead of what's going on up there. Is there some kind of magic going on in the C# world that doesn't exist in C++/CLI that allows that cast to work? Some kind of magic anonymous delegate? Thanks.

  • Static initialization of a struct with class members

    - by JS Bangs
    I have a struct that's defined with a large number of vanilla char* pointers, but also an object member. When I try to statically initialize such a struct, I get a compiler error. typedef struct { const char* pszA; // ... snip ... const char* pszZ; SomeObject obj; } example_struct; // I only want to assign the first few members, the rest should be default example_struct ex = { "a", "b" }; SomeObject has a public default constructor with no arguments, so I didn't think this would be a problem. But when I try to compile this (using VS), I get the following error: error C2248: 'SomeObject::SomeObject' : cannot access private member declared in class 'SomeObject' Any idea why?

  • When can we mock an object and its methods?

    - by Shailendra
    I am novice to the Moq and unit testing. I have to write unit tests to a lot of classes which has the objects of other classes. can i mock the methods of the class objects. Here is the exact scenerio- I have a class two classes A and B and A has a private object of B and in a method of A i am internally calling the method of B and then doing some calculation and returning the result. Can i mock the method of B in this scenerio? Please try to give me full detail about the conditions where i can mock the methods and functions of the class. Thanx

  • .net (winforms, not asp) multi-server deployment

    - by poiuyttr
    I have a small .NET WinForms application, and couple of linux servers, DEV and CL1,CL2..CLN (DEV is development server and CL* are servers which belons to our clients, they are in private networks and it's a kind of production servers) I want an update mechanism so that (1) i develop a new version and publish it to a DEV (2) users of DEV-server install latest version from DEV (3) users of CL2 (employees of client2) install stable version from CL-2 directly (4) application checks for updates using server it was installed from (so, if it was installed from CL-2, it should check CL-2 for updates) (5) i should be able to propogate the update to a selected CL-server (using just file copy & maybe sed; not republishing), if i want that (and if i don't, that CL-server will have an old version until manually i update it) I tried to use clickonce, but looks like it meets only first two requirements. What should i do?

  • Where do you put non-controller classes in codeigniter?

    - by sprugman
    I've got a class Widgets. Widgets are made up of Doohickies. I'm never going to need to access Doohickies directly via url -- they're essentially a private class, only used by Widgets. Where do you put your code to define the Doohicky class? In /app/controllers/doohicky.php? in app/controllers/widget.php? somewhere else? Obviously, the former seems cleaner, but it's not obvious to me how to make the Doohicky class available to Widget.

  • FLEX: why the event is only listened by the dispatcher component ?

    - by Patrick
    hi, I've a parent (Canvas) with many children (LinkButtons) The linkButtons trigger an event to communicate between them: dispatchEvent(new SameBookmarkEvent("SameBookmarkEvent", bookmark.name)); and all linkButtons have a listener this.addEventListener("SameBookmarkEvent", highlightMe); ... private function highlightMe(e:SameBookmarkEvent):void { //do something } Now, the issue is that the event is only listened by the dispatcher child. In other words, only the child triggering the event, is receiving it. I was wondering what's wrong with it, and if I should add a listener to the parent (Canvas)... I basically need the children (LinkButton) communicate between them

  • SQL use comma-separated values with IN clause

    - by user342944
    I am developing an ASP.NET application and passing a string value like "1,2,3,4" into a procedure to select those values which are IN (1,2,3,4) but its saying "Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '1,2,3,4' to data type int." Here is the aspx code: private void fillRoles() { /*Read in User Profile Data from database */ Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase(); DbCommand cmd = db.GetStoredProcCommand("sp_getUserRoles"); db.AddInParameter(cmd, "@pGroupIDs", System.Data.DbType.String); db.SetParameterValue(cmd, "@pGroupIDs", "1,2,3,4"); IDataReader reader = db.ExecuteReader(cmd); DropDownListRole.DataTextField = "Group"; DropDownListRole.DataValueField = "ID"; while (reader.Read()) { DropDownListRole.Items.Add((new ListItem(reader[1].ToString(), reader[0].ToString()))); } reader.Close(); } Here is my procedure: CREATE Procedure [dbo].[sp_getUserRoles](@pGroupIDs varchar(50)) AS BEGIN SELECT * FROM CheckList_Groups Where id in (@pGroupIDs) END

  • Will lock() statement block all threads in the proccess/appdomain?

    - by MikeJ
    Maybe the question sounds silly, but I don't understand 'something about threads and locking and I would like to get a confirmation (here's why I ask). So, if I have 10 servers and 10 request in the same time come to each server, that's 100 request across the farm. Without locking, thats 100 request to the database. If I do something like this: private static readonly object myLockHolder = new object(); if (Cache[key] == null) { lock(myLockHolder) { if (Cache[key] == null) { Cache[key] = LengthyDatabaseCall(); } } } How many database requests will I do? 10? 100? Or as much as I have threads?

  • Protect value from changies using reflection?

    - by IordanTanev
    Hi, here is the problem case i am writing a little third party library. In this library i have a class like this public class TestClass { public int TestField { get; private set; } public TestClass( ) { TestField = 1; } } Then i have a varialbe form this class like this public TestClass test = new TestClass( ); The problem i am facing is that usnig reflection like this PropertyInfo field = typeof( TestClass ).GetProperty( "TestField" ); field.SetValue( test, 2, null ); programers can change internal value of this class. this will be very bad thing becouse it can crash the hole library. My question is what is the best way to protect my code form such changes.I know i can use some kind of bool flag so tha value can be changed only ones but this is not very good salution is there a better one? Best Regards, Iordan

  • Generically creating objects in C#

    - by DrLazer
    What I am trying to do is load in objects from an XML save file. The problem is those objects are configurable by the user at runtime, meaning i had to use reflection to get the names and attributes of those objects stored in an XML file. I am in the middle of a recursive loop through the XML and up to the part where I need to create an object then thought ..... ah - no idea how to do that :( I have an array stuffed with empty objects (m_MenuDataTypes), one of each possible type. My recursive loading function looks like this private void LoadMenuData(XmlNode menuDataNode) { foreach (object menuDataObject in m_MenuDataTypes) { Type menuDataObjectType = menuDataObject.GetType(); if (menuDataObjectType.Name == menuDataNode.Name) { //create object } } } I need to put some code where my comment is but I can't have a big switch statement or anything. The objects in my array can change depending on how the user has configured the app.

  • Setting new class variables inside a module

    - by Sean McCleary
    I have a plugin I have been working on that adds publishing to ActiveRecord classes. I extend my classes with my publisher like so: class Note < ActiveRecord::Base # ... publishable :related_attributes => [:taggings] end My publisher is structured like: module Publisher def self.included(base) base.send(:extend, ClassMethods) @@publishing_options = [] # does not seem to be available end module ClassMethods def publishable options={} include InstanceMethods @@publishing_options = options # does not work as class_variable_set is a private method # self.class_variable_set(:@@publishing_options, options) # results in: uninitialized class variable @@publishing_options in Publisher::ClassMethods puts "@@publishing_options: #{@@publishing_options.inspect}" # ... end # ... end module InstanceMethods # results in: uninitialized class variable @@publishing_options in Publisher::InstanceMethods def related_attributes @@publishing_options[:related_attributes] end # ... end end Any ideas on how to pass options to publishable and have them available as a class variable?

  • How to use a class as the base, but hide the class type publically?

    - by James
    I am currently just exposing the properties through a generic interface e.g. public interface IBaseClass { int ID { get; set; } } internal class MyBaseClass : IBaseClass { public MyBaseClass() { } public int ID { get; set; } } public class MyExposedClass : IBaseClass { private MyBaseClass _base = new MyBaseClass(); public int ID { get { return _base.ID; } set { _base.ID = value; } } } Then in my main application I can do: IBaseClass c = new MyExposedClass(); c.ID = 12345; But can't do: MyBaseClass b = new MyBaseClass(); This is my desired behaviour. However, I was just wondering if this is the correct approach? Or if there was a better way?

  • Debug.writeline locks

    - by Carra
    My program frequently stops with a deadlock. When I do a break-all and look at the threads I see that three threads are stuck in our logging function: public class Logging { public static void WriteClientLog(LogLevel logLevel, string message) { #if DEBUG System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(String.Format("{0} {1}", DateTime.Now.ToString("HH:mm:ss"), message)); //LOCK #endif //...Log4net logging } } If I let the program continue the threads are still stuck on that line. I can't see where this can lock. The debug class, string class & datetime class seem to be thread safe. The error goes away when I remove the "#if DEBUG System... #endif" code but I'm curious why this behavior happens. Thread one: public void CleanCache() { Logging.WriteClientLog(LogLevel.Debug, "Start clean cache.");//Stuck } Thread two: private void AliveThread() { Logging.WriteClientLog(LogLevel.Debug, "Check connection");//Stuck }

  • C# Inconsistent Accessibility (Multiple Classes)

    - by MattP
    I am getting an Inconsistent Accessibility problem where I have one class that contains a List of another class namespace NS { public class Foo { public Foo() { this.bar = new List<Bar>(); } private List<Bar> bar; } public class Bar { public Bar() { } } } The error is property type NS.Bar is less accessible than property NS.Foo.Bar The structure to the application is each Foo consists of a Dynamic Array (List) of Bar. It's not ecommerce but the best example would be an eCommerce Store-Categories-Products in terms of how the data will be accessed.

  • Returning and instance of a Class given its .class (MyClass.class)

    - by jax
    I have an enum that will hold my algorithms. I cannot instantiate these classes because I need the application context which is only available once the application has started. I want to load the class at runtime when I choose by calling getAlgorithm(Context cnx). How do I easily instantiate a class at runtime given its .class (and my constructor takes arguments)? All my classes are subclasses of Algorithm. public enum AlgorithmTypes { ALL_FROM_9_AND_LAST_FROM_10_ID(AlgorithmFactory.AlgorithmAllFrom9AndLastFrom10Impl.class), ALL_FROM_9_AND_LAST_FROM_10_CURRENCY_ID(AlgorithmFactory.AlgorithmAllFrom9AndLastFrom10Impl.class), DIVIDE_BY_9_LESS_THAN_100(AlgorithmFactory.AlgorithmAllFrom9AndLastFrom10Impl.class), TABLES_BEYOND_5_BY_5(AlgorithmFactory.AlgorithmAllFrom9AndLastFrom10Impl.class); private Class<? extends Algorithm> algorithm; AlgorithmTypes(Class<? extends Algorithm> c) { algorithm = c; } public Algorithm getAlgorithm(Context cnx) { return //needs to return the current algoriths constructor which takes the Context Algorithm(Context cnx); } }

  • Handle error at non-UI thread

    - by DreamTeam Mobile
    For some reason unhandled exception which occur at non-UI thread don't handled by App_UnhandledException handler. This approach works well for Windows Phone apps to globally handle, track and analyze exceptions but doesn't work for Windows 8 apps. this.UnhandledException += App_UnhandledException; //doesn't handle private void Button_Click_1(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { var task = new Task(() => { throw new NullReferenceException("Test exc in UI thread"); }); task.Start(); } Please, advise.

  • Method overloading in groovy

    - by slojo
    I am trying to take advantage of the convenience of groovy's scripting syntax to assign properties, but having trouble with a specific case. I must be missing something simple here. I define class A, B, C as so: class A { A() { println "Constructed class A!" } } class B { B() { println "Constructed class B!" } } class C { private member C() { println "Constructed class C!" } def setMember(A a) { println "Called setMember(A)!" member = a } def setMember(B b) { println "Called setMember(B)!" member = b } } And then try the following calls in a script: c = new C() c.setMember(new A()) // works c.member = new A() // works c.setMember(new B()) // works c.member = new B() // doesn't work! The last assignment results in an error: 'Cannot cast object of class B to class A". Why doesn't it call the proper setMember method for class B like it does for class A?

  • Communication between web applications, 1 SSL certificate, other has none

    This the situation: I have one webservice without SSL, which provides two pages for the other web application. When the user submits these pages, an XML file with private information is sent to the webservice. How can I provide the necessary privacy protection on the XML file? Is the one certificate good enough to give the appropriate security? I'm not sure about this one, and am in the preparation phase of a project... So need to know the involved work on this part...

  • Overloading assignment operator in C#

    - by Carson Myers
    I know the = operator can't be overloaded, but there must be a way to do what I want here: I'm just creating classes to represent quantitative units, since I'm doing a bit of physics. Apparently I can't just inherit from a primitive, but I want my classes to behave exactly like primitives -- I just want them typed differently. So I'd be able to go, Velocity ms = 0; ms = 17.4; ms += 9.8; etc. I'm not sure how to do this. I figured I'd just write some classes like so: class Power { private Double Value { get; set; } //operator overloads for +, -, /, *, =, etc } But apparently I can't overload the assignment operator. Is there any way I can get this behavior?
