  • How can I incorporate a data bound list of MenuItems to another MenuItem in WPF?

    I have a 'File' MenuItem were I would like to display a list of recently opened files. Here is the xaml I have now: <MenuItem Header="File}"> <MenuItem Header="Preferences..." Command="{Binding ShowOptionsViewCommand}" /> <Separator /> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding RecentFiles}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <MenuItem Header="{Binding DisplayPath}" CommandParameter="{Binding}" Command="{Binding Path=DataContext.OpenRecentFileCommand, RelativeSource={RelativeSource Mode=FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}"> </MenuItem> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> <Separator /> <MenuItem Header="Exit" Command="{Binding CloseCommand}" /> </MenuItem> However, when I use this code, there is a weird offset around the MenuItems and it looks like there is a container around them.     Ok, I think this is probably an easy question but for the life of my I can't figure it out. I have created a table called ugtags and in that table I have two columns (beyond the basics), 'name' and 'link'. I am trying to allow a user to add a link to a page. Ideally they would enter the link title (name) and the url (link) and in the view it would display the title as a link to the url that was entered in the link column. I there a way to do it by simply affecting the <%= link_to h(ugtag.name) %> code?

  • How to use $.get data to replace certain elements in a webpage?

    I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 to navigate smoothly between similar webpages (in ff3). When clicking on a link, a javascript script should load the new html, filter out the right elements and replace them on the current page. It looks like the $(htmlcode) does not do the thing I expected. The actions below work when loading the page directly, but when using the $.get I have the following problems: the find function seems only to look inside a div element called id="page", which is inside the body element one of the elements has <script>...</script>, but the <script>...</script> is not present in the DOM of $(htmlcode). Anybody knows how to solve this? $.get( url, function(responseText, textStatus, xmlHttpRequest) { alert($(responseText).find("#header")); // works, #header is inside div#page alert($(responseText).find("#header").html()); // displays content, but WITHOUT the <script>...</script> alert($(responseText).find("title")); // does not work, title is outside div#page } );

    I have a certain predefined database structure that I am stuck with. The question is whether this structure is OK for ORM or I whether should add a processing layer that would create a more convenient structure every time something is inserted into the original DB. To simplify, here's what it kind of looks like. I have a person table: PersonId Name And I have a properties table: PersonId PropertyType PropertyValue So, for person John Doe... (1, 'John Doe') ...I could have three properties: (1, 'phone', '555-55-55'), (1, 'email', '[email protected]), (1, 'type', 'employee') By using ORM I would like to get a "person" object that would have properties "name", "phone", "email", "type". Can Propel do that? How efficient is it? Is it a better idea to create a table with columns "phone", "email", "type" and fill it automatically as new rows are inserted into the properties table?

  • Could/Should I use static classes in asp.net/c# for shared data?

    Here's the situation I have: I'm building an online system to be used by school groups. Only one school can log into the system at any one time, and from that school you'll get about 13 users. They then proceed into a educational application in which they have to co-operate to complete tasks, and from a code point of view, sharing variables all over the place. I was thinking, if I set up a static class with static properties that hold the variables that are required to be shared, this could save me having to store/access the variables in/from a database, as long as the static variables are all properly initialized when the application starts and cleaned up at the end. Of course I would also have to put locks on the get and set methods to make the variables thread safe. Something in the back of my mind is telling me this might be a terrible way of going about things, but I'm not sure exactly why, so if people could give me their thoughts for or against using a static class in this situation, I would be quite appreciative.

    The title is a bit long, but it should be pretty straightforward for someone well-aware of python. I'm a python newbie. So, maybe i'm doing things in the wrong way. Suppose I have a class TreeNode class TreeNode(Node): def __init__(self, name, id): Node.__init__(self, name, id) self.children = [] and a subclass with a weight: class WeightedNode(TreeNode): def __init__(self,name, id): TreeNode.__init__(self, name, id) self.weight = 0 So far, i think I'm ok. Now, I want to add an object variable called father in TreeNode so that WeightedNode has also this member. The problem is that I don't know when initializing the object who is going to be the father. I set the father afterwards with this method in TreeNode : def set_father(self, father_node): self.father = father_node The problem is then when i'm trying to access self.father in Weighted: print 'Name %s Father %s '%(self.name, self.father.name) I obtain: AttributeError: WeightedNode instance has no attribute 'father' I thought that I could make father visible by doing something in TreeNode.__init__ but i wasn't able to find what. How can i do that ? Thanks.

    I am trying out multi player racing game using Node and Socket IO ,express . So I have tried simple example to see the latency between node server and the clients. I have a draggable image in client . when I move the image ienter code heren one client ,it has to move in all clients. so basically when I am moving the image I am sending the image position to the node server in a json format , then from there I am broadcasting to all clients. there is a ~approx 300ms latency from the time. following are the results. Client 1 sending data to server at : 286136 (timestamp) Server received at : 286271 Client2 received data at : 286470 Client3 received data at : 286479 Client4 received data at : 286487 Client5 received data at : 286520 the latency between move from client1 to client5 is 384ms. its too hight for a racing game .. here is my server code. var app = require('express').createServer(); var io = require('socket.io'); var http = require('http'); var http_server = http.createServer(); var server = http.createServer(app); server.listen(3000); var socket = io.listen(server,{ log: false }); socket.sockets.on('connection', function (client) { client.on('message', function (data){ console.log("data arrived to server",new Date().getTime()); // Below both statements are giving same latency between the client 1 and client 5 client.broadcast.emit('message',data); //socket.sockets.emit('message',data); }); }); 1) Is there any way to optimize the server code to reduce the latency? 2) is this expected latency using node and websockets ? 3) is socket io can't broadcast the data asynchronously (I mean at a same time) ?     I have an Excel workbook which pulls out data from two other workbooks. Since the data changes hourly there is the possibility that this macro is used more than one time a day for the same data. So I just want to select all previous data to this date period and want to delete them. Later on the data will be copied in anyway. But as soon as I want to use WBSH.Range(Cells(j, "A"), Cells(lastRow - 1, "M")).Select the code stopes with Error 1004 Application-defined or object-defined error. Followed just a snippet of the code with the relevant part. What is wrong here?   • Do null SQLite Data fields take up extra memory?

    I'm using the built in sqlite library on the Android platform. I'm considering adding several general purpose fields that users will be able to use for their own custom applications, but these fields will be blank most of the time. My question is, how much overhead will these blank fields add to my database? Do null fields even take up per record memory in sqlite? If so, how much? I don't quite understand the inner workings of a sqlite database.

  • C++ and its type system: How to deal with data with multiple types?

    "Introduction" I'm relatively new to C++. I went through all the basic stuff and managed to build 2-3 simple interpreters for my programming languages. The first thing that gave and still gives me a headache: Implementing the type system of my language in C++ Think of that: Ruby, Python, PHP and Co. have a lot of built-in types which obviously are implemented in C. So what I first tried was to make it possible to give a value in my language three possible types: Int, String and Nil. I came up with this: enum ValueType { Int, String, Nil }; class Value { public: ValueType type; int intVal; string stringVal; }; Yeah, wow, I know. It was extremely slow to pass this class around as the string allocator had to be called all the time. Next time I've tried something similar to this: enum ValueType { Int, String, Nil }; extern string stringTable[255]; class Value { public: ValueType type; int index; }; I would store all strings in stringTable and write their position to index. If the type of Value was Int, I just stored the integer in index, it wouldn't make sense at all using an int index to access another int, or? Anyways, the above gave me a headache too. After some time, accessing the string from the table here, referencing it there and copying it over there grew over my head - I lost control. I had to put the interpreter draft down. Now: Okay, so C and C++ are statically typed. How do the main implementations of the languages mentioned above handle the different types in their programs (fixnums, bignums, nums, strings, arrays, resources,...)? What should I do to get maximum speed with many different available types? How do the solutions compare to my simplified versions above?

  • Need help debugging a huge chunk of JSON data...

    I have a huge chunk, so large that I can't manually edit the file and need to read it in and do regex operations to see what's wrong. Basically - my server is PHP 5.1.6 and I can't update it.
