• Compiling .NET component that uses a non specific required version of a 3rd Party Vendor component

  If someone were to develop a .NET component that relied on non specific versions of a vendor DLL - let's say it worked with My3rdPartyComponent.dll which is a .NET assembly, but it didn't matter which version. Some instances of classes found in this component would need to be passed into my component. Developers would reference my component dll but not have access to the source code. Basically, I want to be able to require the user to pass in an instance of 3rdPartyComponent.MyClass to my component functions but I do not care if it's version 1.1, 2.2, 2.23.980, etc of the 3rd party dll. Is there a way to do this while still typing the parameter I want to be passed in to my component? I don't want to use Object as the reference. In my component project I could specify SpecificVersion=True on the assembly reference. Will this solve my problem or will there be other 'dll hell' issues to deal with that I am not seeing?

  Hi all, I would like to use a command like this: plot(c(1,8), 1:2, type="n") polygon(1:7, c(2,1,2,NA,2,1,2), col=c("red", "blue"), # border=c("green", "yellow"), border=c(1,10), lwd=c(1:10)) To create two triangles, with different line widths. But the polygon command doesn't seem to recycle the "lwd" parameter as it does the col or the border parameters. I would like the resulting plot to look like what the following code will produce: plot(c(1,8), 1:2, type="n") polygon(1:3, c(2,1,2), col=c("red"), # border=c("green", "yellow"), border=c(1,10), lwd=c(1)) polygon(5:7, c(2,1,2), col=c( "blue"), # border=c("green", "yellow"), border=c(1,10), lwd=c(10)) So my questions are: Is there something like polygon that does what I asked for? • Power Law distribution for a given exponent in C# using MathNet

  Hello! I am currently working on a project where I need to generate multiple values (floats or doubles preferably) that follow a power law distribution with a given exponent! I was advised to use the MathNet.Iridium library to help me. The problem I have is that the documentation is not as explicit as it should be if there is any! I see multiple distributions that fit the general idea of the power law distribution but I cannot pinpoint a good distribution to use with a certain exponent as a parameter. Does anybody have more experience in that matter and could give me some hints or advice?

• What is the problem with the logic in my UPDATE statement?

  Hello, I would appreciate some help with an UPDATE statement. I want to update tblOrderHead with the content from tblCustomer where the intDocumentNo corresponds to the parameter @intDocumentNo. But when I run the my statement, the order table is only updated with the content from the first row of the customer table. What is the problem with my logic? I use Microsoft SQL Server. • IIS 7.5 powershell module usage issues

  Has anyone managed to use this module with success, i'm running 32bit Windows 7, where i have opened an administrator shell using run as administrator, i have imported the WebAdministration module and then attempted to use the commands with some issues, have provided two examples here Websites I created a web site with the following command new-website -name testsite -port 80 -hostheader testsite -physicalpath c:\temp Then i attempted to get the sites details using the command get-website -name testsite but it always returns all sites, seems to ignore the -name parameter. Only way i can get the site is using a filter get-website | ? { $_.name -eq 'testsite' } | get-member When i use appcmd it works as expected using the following command C:\> C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list site testsite AppPools When i try to list the apppools using the following command dir iis:\apppools i get the following error Get-ChildItem : Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Yet when i use appcmd as follows i get all the apppools as expected without any error C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list apppool Has anyone successfully managed to use the WebAdministration module ? • Returning a complex data type from arguments with Rhino Mocks

  I'm trying to set up a stub with Rhino Mocks which returns a value based on what the parameter of the argument that is passed in. This is not to prove that the data provider works obviously since I stubbed it, but rather to prove that the correct size was passed in. How can I do this?

This is the way I do it usually: unwanted_instance = Mymodel.objects.get(pk=bad_luck_number) uninteresting_stuff_happens() my_results = MyModel.objects.exclude(id=unwanted_instance.id) or, if I have more of them: my_results = MyModel.objects.exclude(id_in=[uw_in1.id, uw_in2.id, uw_in3.id]) This 'feels' a bit clunky, so I tried if I was lucky: my_ideally_obtained_results = MyModel.objects.exclude(unwanted_instance) Which doesn't work. But I read here on SO that a subquery can be used as parameter for exclude. Am I out of luck? Am I missing some functionality (checked the docs, but didn't find any useful pointer)

  We are using PD4ML library to convert HTML to PDF. Is there any way with which I can include a image from the internet in my HTML to convert it into PDF. I am having problem in getting the image into PDF. I tried using base parameter in the PD4ML library but that didn't worked out. May be I am doing something wrong or PD4ML doesn't support including image from the internet. Because when I discussed my problem with other colleagues, found out that when we use the image from local server it gets to the PDF but image from internet don't. I am bound to use PD4ML, so solution with PD4ML only will be highly appreciated.

• how do arguments work with dojo.connect?

  I've read the docs, but I must be missing something. I've got a grid, I want to connect to the event that fires when the column headers are clicked for sorting, thus: dojo.addOnLoad(function(){ var grid = dijit.byId("grid"); dojo.connect(grid, "setSortInfo", 'afterSort'); }); function afterSort() { console.info('after sort'); } That works fine as far as it goes. I know the setSortInfo method has an argument which is the column number. How do I get that value? I've tried putting a parameter in the sig for afterSort to no avail. The docs say "the method receives the same arguments as the event", but where are they???

• Any way to get TStringList.CommaText to not escape commas with quotes?

  I'm doing some work with code generation, and one of the things I need to do is create a function call where one of the parameters is a function call, like so: result := Func1(x, y, Func2(a, b, c)); TStringList.CommaText is very useful for generating the parameter lists, but when I traverse the tree to build the outer function call, what I end up with looks like this: result := Func1(x, y, "Func2(a, b, c)"); It's quoting the third argument because it contains commas, and that produced invalid code. But I can't do something simplistic like StringReplace all double quotes with empty strings, because it's quite possible that a function argument could be a string with double quotes inside. Is there any way to make it just not escape the lines that contain commas?

• Structuremap Stackoverflow Exception

  I keep getting a stackoverflow exception when I call "GetInstance" (the last line). All, yes ALL of my types implement ITracker. MultiTracker has a constructor with a single parameter, which is an array of ITracker's. It seems like StructureMap is ignoring the fact that I told it that MultiTracker is the default class I want when requesting the type ITracker. I just can't get it to work. Any thoughts? • Assert parameters in a table-valued UDF

  Is there a way to create "asserts" on the parameters of a table-valued UDF. I'd like to use a table-valued UDF for performance reasons, however I know that certain parameter combinations (like start and end dates that are more than a month apart) will cause performance issues on the server for all users. End users query the database via Excel using UDFs. UDFs (and table-valued UDFs in particular) are useful when the data is too large for Excel. Users write simple SQL queries that categorizes the data into groups to reduce the number of rows. For example, the user may be interested in weekly aggregates rather than hourly ones. Users write a group by SELECT statement to reduce the rows by 24x7=168 times. I know I can write RAISERROR statements in multistatement UDFs, but table-valued UDFs are integrated in the query optimizer so these queries are more efficient with table-valued UDFs. So, can I define assertions on the parameters passed to a table-valued UDF?

• Making a DVD video with a still image and PCM 16bit audio with ffmpeg

  I'm trying to make a small video with a still image and a sound file playing in the background to pass it to dvdauthor and create a DVD. The command I'm using is this: ffmpeg -loop_input -i image.jpg -qscale 2 -i song.flac -aspect 4:3 -target pal-dvd -acodec pcm_s16le -shortest output.mpg However, the resulting video file doesn't have sound at all (testing it on VLC Player). I don't know if I can't combine "-acodec pcm_s16le" with "-target pal-dvd" to override the later, or if there is something else wrong with the command. If I try without the "-acodec pcm_s16le" parameter the video and audio works, I can even create a DVD ISO with it. However, the audio stays as AC3. I wanted to include with the video the lossless audio, not a compressed one. I suppose the DVD standart allows to have PCM audio in it, am I right?

• SQL Exec T-SQL statement?

  I am trying to list all of the columns from whichever Adventureworks table I choose. What T-sQL statement or stored proc can I execute to see this list of all columns? I want to use my C# web app to input one input parameter = table_name and then get a list of all the column_names as output. Right now I am trying to execute the sp_columns stored proc which works, but I can't get just the one column with select and exec combined. Does anybody know how to do this?

• IntelliJ IDEA non standard caret behaviour

  I have an issue with IntelliJ IDEA when selecting a big amount of text, and I cannot find the parameter to set to change that. Here is an example of the situation: My caret is on line 3 I scroll with the mouse wheel towards line 300 I press ctrl + shift I press the left button of the mouse Such an action would result in the text from line 3 to 300 being selected in all common editors (even in MS-Word I think), but not in IntelliJ. Do you know how to set this right? Thanks!

• SelectedValue of DropDownList is not the one I selected when Enabled=false

  Hiya, I have a few DropDownLists on a webform each pointing to a SqlDataSource. Some of these datasources use one of these DropDownLists for a select parameter, filtering the list to specific categories. For certain users two of these DropDownLists are to be automatically set and disabled. When I submit the form with the drop downs enabled it works fine but when they are disabled the SelectedValue of the DropDownList is being reset to the first one in the list. My DropDownLists are constructed as follows: <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlManager" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsManagers" EnableViewState="false" DataValueField="ManagerID" DataTextField="MgrName" AppendDataBoundItems="false" ondatabound="ddlManager_DataBound" > The drop down lists add an extra item on the data bound event as follows: protected void ddlManager_DataBound(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.ddlManager.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("--Manager--", "--Manager--")); } Can anyone shed any light as to why this is happening? • Write wave files to memory in Java

  I'm trying to figure out why my servlet code creates wave files with improper headers. I use: AudioSystem.write( new AudioInputStream( new ByteArrayInputStream(memoryBytes), new AudioFormat(22000, 16, 1, true,false), memoryBytes.length ), AudioFileFormat.Type.WAVE, servletOutputStream ); taking a byte array from memory containing raw PCM samples and a servlet output stream that gets returned to the client. In the result I get a normal wave file but with zeros in the chunk size fields. Is the API broken? I would think that the size could be filled in using the size passed in the audio input stream. But now, after typing this out I'm thinking its not making this info available to the outer write() method on AudioSystem. It seems like the AudioSystem.write call needs a size parameter unless it is able to pull the size from the stream... which wouldn't work with an arbitrary sized stream. Does anyone know how to make this example work?

  I have a ListView displays information about an object. When I click a ListView Item, I open an Activity that let's me manipulate parameters of the object held in the adapter. These parameters are updated and stored remotely. When I return to the ListView (via the back button), I want to update the ListView Item that I clicked originally by requesting the parameter values from the remote server. I am currently doing this up updating the entire ListView by clearing it and rebuilding it. How do I reference the ListView Item so that I can update the data for that item only? Thanks, Jason

• Flex Datagrid editing calls from same row not firing collection change event

  Hi, I am using the flex datagrid to allow the user to edit some data. My update process relies on a CollectionEvent of type update. Basically I catch this event package the values and update the database. However, if the user edits a cell then moves to edit a cell in the same row the value of the parameter in the object is updated but a collection event is not fired. Only when clicking out of the row the event is fired. Has anyone had experience with this. I have heard the datagrid is a little quirky is this one of those quirks or am I doing this all wrong? Any help appreciated.
